Ah, but having an affair won’t lead to happiness. Perhaps briefly or in the moment but not in the long-term. Remember there are children involved too. I wanted them to get back together, if at all possible, but not like this because others will now be able to blackmail them or make their lives hell.

at this point, I dont think theyll be having an affair. even from the preview it looks like JH will decide to still be with his wife. JH - JS maybe will keep meeting each other, as long as they keep meeting one another, maybe it's enough for now. one thing for sure though.. JH always fights his own battle because theres a scene in the preview with him being imprisoned too in college? JH is distant with his family though.. He's cold with his wife, he's being so formal with Daddy in Law, He also doesnt seem to care about his bratty son. Makes me wonder if his marriage is just one of his agenda. He's learning to fight dirty, no doubt

oh, JS and JH story remind very on my mother cousin love story. She had a first love in her childhood but they got separated. Years later he started search for her again as he never got over her (like JH). He find her on facebook and they started to talk again. They both got married with kids before meeting again where she got divorced as her husband was abusive (like JS). He was still married. As I understand his divorce was kinda ugly as there where some hurt  from his kids side and wife... But they got together and now married. I belive it was a hard prosess for his kids accepting this.

Yeah a story about the unforgettable first love.

I wonder if we gonna get something like that for this drama, but seems like it is gonna be many obstacle for our two happy ending. I really pray they find peace in the end though.

I rewatched episode three because I'm still waiting for episode 4 with eng subs.

My all time favorite scene in episode 3 is when they're both at their own balconies.

JS is at the balcony and she says "Jae Hyun used to be on my side, my belief, and my world."

3J7BQnq.png

The camera pans to the right. JH's standing at his own balcony and he says "Your belief doesn't exist anymore."

AYJ3C3C.jpg

Gosh the cinematography and writing is so poetic!!  :tears:

One of the heartwarming moments is the scene between JH and JS's son, Young Min.

JH tells him, "I'm on the losing side," and YM warms up to JH.

What's so melodramatic is when JH tells JS to stay out of the protests and JS tells her, "Sunbae taught me the losing side is our side." And we learn that when Younger JS had this eagerness to be a part of JH's world...she says,

"To me you're my belief and my world. So I will do everything you believe in. And I'll be on the same side with you and live in the world you live in."

In the present, JS has grit. She doesn't want to change for the selfish and materialistic JH and says, "I don't have much experience in winning anyway. I haven't won a lot in my life, but I'm not ashamed of my life."

And that is what makes JS different from the typical suffering Kdrama character.

@sal2 Thanks for sharing your mother's cousin love story. There may have been struggles, but I'm glad that the first loves are together now. I'm hoping that this drama will have the same hopeful journey, too.

One a lighter note.....

Perhaps I am a ridiculous person but, despite the intensity of the scene, I see the image of that wine-stained white dress and I desperately wants to say, "it will be okay; I know how to remove red wine stains.  It's easy!  You don't even need special cleaning products."  ;)

Lee Bo Young And Park Si Yeon Face Off As Yoo Ji Tae Watches Hopelessly In “When My Love Blooms”

May 3, 2020

Tension is in the air as Lee Bo Young and Park Si Yeon face each other in the upcoming episode of “When My Love Blooms”!

The drama tells the story of reunited college sweethearts Han Jae Hyun and Yoon Ji Soo, who are now living completely different lives as adults. The drama stars Yoo Ji Tae and Lee Bo Young as the main characters and GOT7’s Jinyoung and Jeon So Nee as their respective younger counterparts.

Spoiler

After Han Jae Hyun and Yoon Ji Soo meet again, they get washed away in emotions as they remember the beautiful memories of their past. In the previous episode, Han Jae Hyun’s wife Jang Seo Kyung (Park Si Yeon) finds out that Yoon Ji Soo has a special significance in her husband’s life, and the reality of the situation between the three becomes more solid.

In the stills for the upcoming episode, the three coincidentally meet in a banquet hall. The situation looks troubling as Jang Seo Kyung appears in front of Yoon Ji Soo, who is wearing a mask while she plays piano. Jang Seo Kyung stares haughtily at Yoon Ji Soo, while Han Jae Hyun observes the two of them with a rigid expression.

In the last still, Yoon Ji Soo shows uncharacteristic anger and resolve as she removes her mask to face Jang Seo Kyung. Viewers are curious about how Yoon Ji Soo will handle the situation in the upcoming episode.

OMG, why is this so good? I loved 3 & 4.

It's so cheese-tastic at times. Like the ex-MIL slapping Ji-Su, and Jae-Hyeon just happens to be there to see it, as the camera slowly pans to his fist clutching... HAHAHA. I would normally roll my eyes, but I'm just swooning. :tounge_xd: Gah, what is wrong with me!

Okay, so we got some extra information this week:

- Ji-Su was the "black sheep" of the family because she didn't major in law, and her dad was a high-ranking mucky-muck prosecutor who beat her up, so at some point she left her family.

- Looks like she had a younger sister Ji-Yeong who died and their father blames Ji Su for it for some reason.

- Jae-Hyeon's father died, which might be the reason that he changed.

- Jae-Hyeon is doing *something* to take down his FIL.

How is Yoo Ji-Tae so smexy?

That is not true. HJH and his son might not be as close as a father and son can be but when he went to meet his son at school their greeting was warm enough. The way HJH spoke to his son too showed affection. Then he asked the child what happened and of course the child lied to him. Nevertheless he seemed to have gone away thinking that maybe his son didn’t do anything wrong this time until he learned more about the other side of the story. Please go back and watch the scene. HJH was not cold to his son. I believe he even teased his son that he hadn’t seen him in four years and he didn’t act like he missed him.

JH knew about his son bullying in the school before this and was aware that something else must have happened.  When he met him, I think he asked his son what he did.  And his son got on the defensive.  So, he knew.  It was not that he did not love his son, but since his wife and FIL kind of supported their son's behavior without reprimanding them, he was in the minority to punish or teach his son the right behavior.

Just finished ep.3. Was busy binging another drama over the weekend that I put this one on hold first... I haven't had a chance to back read on this thread too.

Love every bit of ep.3. This is one drama that I need to find a good time to watch so as not to rush through it. Heck, I even watched the ending credits until finished

Have I said how much I love the BGM/OST? Especially the part when he handed her the umbrella. The way he looked at her and smiled as she walked away is just

I guess I might be in the minority, hoping to see the younger counterpart throughout the series. I actually love how they keep showing us the flashback of university days once in a while. I think this is better than showing everything at once and then move the story in current timeline. It makes me feel like I'm with them as they reminisce their past romance. But really... how are we going to see (or will we even see) this romance come to fruition now since he is still married? Wife found out too and is not planning to sit still with this discovery, even though she herself has a toy-boy.

On to ep.4 now.

when you say having an affair... do you seriously consider this a marriage ?

its a mock humiliating contact at best .....what matters is being true to self not to contracts

on another note...I have been reading ( A many-splendored thing) by eurasian chinese writer han suyin ... possibly the most real glorious adultery you'll ever read about ....and one of the memorable quotes (( One should never condemn what one cannot understand))....

That's my favorite part of the storytelling, too. The past isn't compartmentalized late into the story. Rather the past is a part of the story line. It's part of the present times!

What I find interesting is the socioeconomic status of their younger selves and what they believed in. JH has something against the capitalistic system and JS learns about the world outside of her home. Her beliefs are heavily influenced by the younger JH. Episode 3 Young JS learns to be with the losing side and keeps that belief. Episode 4  Young JS learns that she is a special and precious child of the deity. Anyone including her family should not treat her badly. That is why she was able to stand up for herself in front of JH's wife. I loved that scene. She didn't wear that mask because she was hiding herself. She was just tired of vulgar people making money at a party. Her courage and bravery is admirable.

ep 4 my favorite small scene is JS's ex and JH's encounter at the hospital. They have a small talk, but JH is straight to the point and leaves. As he's walking away, JH says "jerk" hahaha

I really love this part too. And how many times already has JH gave her shoes to wear in just 4 episodes... the reference of walking together.

Ep.4 remains beautifully shot. The music appropriately placed with certain scenes still moves me so much, some to tears.

Seems like JH will consider divorce, judging from what he told his wife about he might be doing something more. The thing is, wife is not going to let him go, because she thinks he is the best thing that has ever happened to her. But is it love? or just pride? If I remember correctly, it was said that she never once visited him during his 4 years imprisonment?

Park Siyeon is giving me Innocent Man flashbacks in this role. I hated her character back then and now we have Seokyung :lol:

Despite this being her first drama, the writer has been doing a great job! I'm pleasantly satisfied but also nervous for what's to come. There's only one concern, though, I feel like there's almost no subtlety in how the characters are written. JS' life has been a series of unfortunate events, SK is extremely ruthless, and JH went from being lower-middle class to chaebol rich (that comes with extreme switch in his moral compass, maybe this will change). AND THE SLAPS!!! (sorry I have to mention this again) we already got two physical slaps and several "slaps" by edible things. Writer-nim, take a chill pill for a bit, perhaps? Don't go all makjang on us like this :sweatingbullets:

I'm so obsessed with the opening credits!!! The song, the visual presentation, everything. There's also a ballad soundtrack by KLANG - 다시 만날 날이 있겠죠 that I thought was gonna be released last week. Can't wait until the full OST gets released!

She also played an insufferable shrew in the last drama I saw her in ("Shall we kiss first?") - this lady knows what works for her.

Even though their marriage seems ... well, dead?... I love how *honest* Jae-Hyeon and Seo-Gyeong are with each other. Jae-Hyeon is omitting some information, of course (i.e., Ji-Su is his first love and he's still in love with her). But when confronted, both are pretty honest towards each other and have rational conversations. And they do seem to know each other pretty well, for whatever that's worth.

I'm much more mystified by Ji-Su and her ex-husband. He was her lawyer when she went to jail, and he seemed impressed by her conviction. Don't know what went wrong yet, but they have a very hostile relationship with each other now. (And of course, his mother is a piece of work. Ugh.) And my heart just breaks for their son, Yeong-Min.

I think one of the ways that this show is really well-written is how very wise and amazing Jae-Hyeon sounds much of the time. (kudos to the actors, of course) When they were young, he says the most eloquent and perfect thing to help Ji-Su and to make her feel loved and confident, and the way he expresses his passion for activism is so eloquent. Even when he gives Yeong-Min a short pep talk at school, he is so comforting and lovely.

I also love how we can see that Ji-Su learned and grew from her relationship with Jae-Hyeon. She learned from him to not take crap from anyone and to value herself. I love how she stands up for herself whenever people try to look down on her or make her feel less than. Although I'm still not wholly loving this notion that a sheltered young girl gained her entire self-worth and sense of being because she met a boy in college - especially when her convictions apparently cost her a lot, and he became a capitalist pig married to a rich brat - I don't know, this show is making me love it all anyway.
