[HanCinema's News] "Sisyphus: The Myth" Cracks Global Netflix Top 10

Now in its third week of airing on television, "Sisyphus: The Myth" has cracked the worldwide Netflix charts with a ranking in tenth place on May 5th. It is the only South Korean drama in the list, although the American television version of "Snowpiercer" is in fourth place. The high Netflix ranking of "Sisyphus: The Myth" was largely thanks to Asian markets, many of which had the drama at number one. These include Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.

 

 

The news comes as "Sisyphus: The Myth" has slipped below 5% ratings in its most recent episode on March 4th. The more consistent performance of "Sisyphus: The Myth" on Netflix suggests the drama is striking a stronger chord with international audiences as well as domestic ones less likely to watch dramas on live television. "Sisyphus: The Myth" stars Cho Seung-woo as a genius engineer and Park Shin-hye as a mysterious woman from parts unknown attempting to seek him out.

JTBC’s “Sisyphus: The Myth” released a new behind-the-scenes video!

 

“Sisyphus: The Myth” is a sci-fi action drama starring Cho Seung Woo as Han Tae Sool, a genius engineer who goes searching for the dangerous truth behind his brother’s death, and Park Shin Hye as Kang Seo Hae, his savior from a war-torn future.

 

The new video begins with Cho Seung Woo practicing the scene in which he takes out money from the ATM. He begins to recite his lines, but the ATM interrupts him. Cho Seung Woo calls over the person filming the making-of video and pretends to give them some cash, only to take it back right after. Cho Seung Woo comments, “This looks real. How did you make this?”

 

While filming the scene of Park Shin Hye running away, the two cameramen get caught up in the chase and keep running away from her even when she tries to run past them. Park Shin Hye shares, “I felt like I was a monster.” When she tries again, a piece of paper gets in her way, which happens to be the drama’s filming schedule.

 

Another scene shows Cho Seung Woo and Park Shin Hye trying to escape the glare from the sunlight. Park Shin Hye uses her backpack strap, and Cho Seung Woo teases her saying, “That left a mark [on your face].” Park Shin Hye continues to deny it while carefully checking the mirror.

 

When Park Shin Hye gets ready to film the scene from Han Tae Sool’s hallucination, Cho Seung Woo requests her to sing a song. Park Shin Hye replies, “I can’t sing.” Cho Seung Woo asks her to dance instead, and Park Shin Hye showcases her dance moves while sharing, “I can dance well.”

 

Cho Seung Woo and Park Shin Hye wave their shoes together, and Park Shin Hye comments that it feels like they’re screaming for help. Cho Seung Woo makes a reference to Park Shin Hye’s zombie movie “#ALIVE,” and the two walk away while pretending to be zombies. Finally, the two sit inside the closet making dad jokes while waiting to begin filming.
