He 100% likely has her husband heart typical storyline at this point lol

Indeed:unamused:. Not to mention, she is probably gonna live with the in laws and support them after her husband dies and OMG, they will have a say in her relationship and so on.........

Can't they just come up with a better storyline for once?

Giving this show a shot. So far it is too early to judge it. Does seem a bit nice so we will have to wait and see how it turns out. Just to give other people an idea of what it is like and if they want to stick around for it I felt like I should give a recap for the first episode. So here goes.

Spoiler

The show starts with us being introduced to a young family who are excited to move into their new apartment. This family consists of the female lead Kang Yeowon, her husband and their daughter. Unfortunately, this happiness is interrupted when her MiL barges into their apartment with a group of people and blames Yeowon for convincing her naïve and filial son to move away from home to this new apartment and thus orders them to move back home. Yeowon refuses and this results in the MiL transforming into a Mafia Mother. She then has the people who are with her (turns out to be her grown kids) to wreck the place to force Yeowon and her family to move back home. (we then have a clearly exaggerated scene of them wrecking the apartment that it seems more like a dream than real life). When it is all done the MiL sits on the only available seat like a Mafia Queen and waits for Yeowons decision. Yeowon is still adamant on staying.

Though it all turns out to be a nightmare. She is safely in her room sharing it with her husband and daughter but while getting the daughter in a comfortable position she spots a stranger sleeping in the bedroom as well. She naturally assumes that a perverted thief broke into the house (well I can only assume that she must have thought the person was a pervert otherwise why sleep in a stranger’s room) Her yells of thief brings her MiL rushing into the room with a stick and beat the stranger only for it to turn out that it is her son. Apparently the son got so drunk that he mistakenly took Yeowons room as his own. Though in his defense the room used to be his prior to Yeowon’s marriage and he had moved out of it to give it to them. So probably muscle memory is to blame here to an extent.

Turns out that Yeowon’s MiL owns a tofu making restaurant where they make their own tofu and she is helping out her MiL make it in the early morning (clearly she does this every day). She apologizes to her MiL about the mistake that she made regarding her BiL. The MiL is okay with that but then breaks a bombshell. We learn that her son is still unmarried and his not only hoping that he gets married soon but also the fact that she expects all of them to live in the same house (this includes both her sons and naturally their wives as well). Clearly this isn’t something that Yeowon wants as we have seen she wants to leave the house soon for her own place. Unfortunately, since the MiL has no luck in finding a woman for her son she has even recruited Yeowon in finding a woman. Yeowon points out that the biggest issue with her son is that he currently is jobless and therefor no woman would be willing to marry such a person. The MiL is equally unreasonable and tells her that if everyone was perfect then no one would have problems and this is where family comes in to help each other and all. Yeowon simply takes it all in quietly.

Regardless now that the tofu is nearly done the MiL tells Yeowon to not only make breakfast for the family but also hangover soup for the drunk son. She does so diligently like a good DiL. Turns out that her husband is a reporter and has to head out early to prepare of an article and interview. Since he was heading out without any breakfast Yeowon quickly rushes after him with a small lunch box. At the same time, she asks him when he is going to inform his mother about moving out especially since this was his own suggestion and that she had started to look for places for them to live in. The husband seems to be a bit hesitant to speak to his mother so he tells her that he will take care of the matter especialy in a way that his wife won’t take the blame (like in her dream). Yeowon leaves it at that and heads back home to get her daughter ready for school.

We are now introduced to a new character Sooji. She had been clubbing out all night with her other friends. Just when they leave the club that they had spent the night in an expensive looking car stops by and a person steps out. Who is this person, is he her boyfriend, driver or something else? Turns out that he works for her father and one of his responsibilities is to look out for her. She even questions his motives such as did her father promise him something in return such as a promotion or better pay if he looked after her etc. Regardless he seems to know her well since he not only managed to track her down but knew that she would be slightly drunk as well. So he offered her a drink to cure her hangover.

Now we move on to Sooji’s parents. Who are portrayed by the same actors from The Unusual Family. Guess they got paired up again. Anyway since it is time for breakfast the Dad is wondering why Sooji hasn’t come down yet. When he asks his wife she tries to cover for her daughter by lying and saying that she must have a cold so she couldn’t make it. Turns out that she suffers from the Pinocchio syndrome but instead of hiccupping every time that she lies she blinks her eyes (or perhaps that is just her tell). Her husband seems to catch it but she manages to convince him otherwise. Regardless his worry for his daughter’s health makes him head over to her room ignoring his wife’s objections. Only to find her actually in bed asleep. I guess she was so drunk that she was knocked out as soon as she hit the bed. The wife then manages to convince the dad that this must be due to her illness and that she would take responsibility for her and take her to the doctor once the daughter woke up. The dad finally buys that and heads downstairs. Only it turns out that wasn’t actually Sooji in bed but the housemaid. Apparently the mother has pulled this stunt before as well so that her husband doesn’t find out what his daughter is actually upto and get in trouble. She also claims that she has been paying the maid extra for said services etc.. unfortunately for Sooji and her bad timing she just returns home when her dad came downstairs from her room and is surprised to find her downstairs before him. Atleast Sooji is honest about her being out all night and clubbing. Though it turns out that she has her dad wrapped around her little finger and all and she manages to calm him down by telling him that the drink that she had to cure her hangover did wonders since she already feels better. It also turns out that the drink that she had earlier was produced by her father’s company. This seems to calm him down and he heads of to the company with the same person that had picked up Suji

It turns out that while the dad is the actual owner he seems to have let the guy have the run of the company so the major decisions seem to be made by him. He also compains that he is worried about his daughter since she seems to rather enjoy herself clubbing and all since he ended up spoiling her and thus how will she replace him when he decides to step down. He therefore tells the guy to watch over her better and to train her in the future.

Now back to the drama of Yewon. She has managed to finally get her daughter ready for school and drops her to the school bus stop just in time. But it turns out that one student is still missing namely her nephew. It turns out this is a regular thing and so we have Yewon rushing over to her SiL’s place to see why the nephew still isn’t ready. Turns out that both mother and child are still sleeping. This means that it is upto Yewon to quickly get the nephew ready for school as well and thus drop him to the bus stop. This lazy SiL barely manages to get up but only to pack the garbage and tell Yewon to throw it out on her way. Yewon being the nice person does that but since she knows that the nephew probably won’t make it on his own two feet she carries him on her back. Clearly the nephew seems to be enjoying this ride. Fortunately, she not only manages to throw the garbage but also still make it in time before the bus leaves for school. So the kids are now finally of. So she heads back towards the restaurant where she also works/helps her MiL

Meanwhile in the restaurant we see a taxi driver who is singing praises of the restaurant to his friends. This includes it quality and for how long it has been there etc. It turns out though that the reason that he is doing this is because he is Yewon’s father and thus helping out both her In Laws and Yewon’s with their business by this way. Once he is caught he tells his friends to do this for him etc.. Yewon who has just come in barely has time to greet her father before getting back to work due to it being rush hour and all. Leaving the father to wonder if she even had time for lunch and all.

Change of scenery. We have people playing cops and robbers. In other words, we have a person chasing another person. The chaser seems to be nice since during their chase they bump into people and the chaser manages to briefly stop to help them up this includes an elderly lady and a man on the bicycle and then resumes his chase. His target finally gets a stroke of bad luck when he hits a dead end. Turns out that the person chasing after him is his lawyer Bong Chung Dong. The reason that he was chasing him was that he apparently committed theft and Chung Dong was hired to help him out. Unfortunately, he doesn’t want that help nor is he willing to apologize to the person that he stole from. He is more than willing to head to jail since atleast this way he will still get fed and all. He doesn’t seem to care that his life will be ruined this way and is even a bit surprised that someone would be interested in a nobody like him. Though he does leave with the burger that Chung Dong had given to him while trying to convince him to apologize and all. Much to Chung Dong’s frustration. Though just a few seconds after he leaves Chung Dong hears knocking on his door. He probably assumes that the kid is back and has second thoughts. Only to discover that someone sent him congratulatory flowers for his new job (apparently he opened his own law firm) turns out the flowers are from a person called Jihun. So Chung Dong phones him to thank him for said flowers. This is where we discover the guy that was driving Soji and her father’s name. (about time)

Seems that these two knew each other from before. Are they perhaps old school friends or something? Well we probably will have to wait and see. Regardless they seem close to each other. When Jihun has finished with his call he is on his way to see his boss when he is suddenly accosted by someone. Turns out that this person used to work for the company for many years (probably one of their suppliers) and his angry since the company has cut him out to save costs and what not. Jihun calmly has security escort the man outside (though he warns him that their company CCTV has no blind spots. You can bet there is one namely the rooftop where someone is bound to have some sort of important conversation without getting caught on the CCTV). Regardless the man while being dragged out threatens that he won’t go down without a fight and will probably take the company down with him. Jihun calmly fixes his look while saying how dare a peasnt touch me like that. He then continues on his way to his boss’s office.

The boss is just finishing his interview with Yewon’s husband. It does seem like he has some good points such as Trust is more important than making a profit and what not. He is also about helping the local economy by helping the farmers and all such as using their products which is beneficial to both parties (his company as well as the farmers/suppliers). Yewon’s husband seems to like this and ends the interview as soon as Jihun enters. So Jihun is given the task to escort him out. The husband does ask for the president’s photo that he can attach with his article and Jihun agrees to this and promises him that he will get the Public Relations department to send him one.

Yewon and her MiL seem to be closing down their restaurant when she receives a call from someone. Yewon tells the other party that she won’t be able to make it since she still has to pick up her children from school as well as the fact that she still is busy. Fortunately for her the MiL is considerate enough to tell her to leave as she would be able to pick up the kids. (Yewon’s Daughter and Nephew). Yewon is extremely grateful and heads out. Turns out the person that she was supposed to meet is one of the retailers who shows her an apartment that she likes but is also told that if she wants said place then she needs to instantly sign a contract because places like those are sold of like hot potatoes so she better make a decision fast. She tells the retailer that she needs to get her husband’s approval first and tries to contact him. Unfortunately for her the husband isn’t able to answer the phone because the moment that he sees her call the supplier that had earlier accosted Jihun has stepped in front of his car. The person that had somehow recognized her husband as a reporter and thus asked him for help in revealing the injustices of said company. At this point the show ends.

Now on to my thoughts regarding the show and the characters.

Spoiler

The show seems ok like I mentioned earlier. As of now I am really not liking most of Yewons In Laws. They seem to take her for granted and expect her to do all the work. For instance, her SiL sleeps at home and doesn’t seem to even help with the family restaurant. We haven’t seen her husband yet so we don’t know if she is a single mother, divorced or a widow or still married. If it is one of the former three, then I see no reason why she can’t work in the mornings making tofu. If Yewon can wake up so early then she has no excuse. Her BiL seems to be a good for nothing as well. He is an adult so he should be doing some kind of job. At best let him work at the restaurant as well. This way the family can still save face by saying that he is in management or something to that extent. Instead he drinks a lot etc..

Yewon’s husband seems to be nice and considerate but at the same time it seems like he is afraid of his mother so he can’t speak up against her. So in this case even though it was his own suggestion to leave the house. He still hasn’t managed to broach this topic with his mother. Sure he probably suggested it due to consideration of his wife but he needs to back up his words through his actions. It also seems like he is one of those honest guys that will pay for it. Such as he is actually going to look into the claims by the supplier and indeed discover something is wrong with Hana Beverages. Jihun who seems to be incharge of this will then have him eliminated in an accident when he will fail to purchase his silence. Though I suspect that Yewon’s actions might put him in a bit of a pickle. Like I mentioned he seems to be an honest reporter so he won’t accept and bribes but when is a bribe a bribe. For instance, we have seen from the preview that Yewon finally managed to sign that provisional agreement without his knowledge. Now it makes sense that Jihun is going to look into the husband to see how he can bribe him to stay silient. This may be done by purchasing the apartment and gifting it to his family or perhaps he will do so after the accident. Since Yewon won’t know about the truth she might accept it especially if Jihun makes it seem like compensation for the accident (depending on how it happens.) Such as admitting that the accident happened due to the companies fault and thus are making it up to her etc..

Soji’s father seems like an honest person this means that Jihun is probably responsible for the shady deals that the company is now making as well as cutting corners to save money. This is indeed partially the owners fault since he shouldn’t be so dependent on someone else while he is still incharge. He should either remain in management or hand it over to someone reliable. This way when the company faces problems he isn’t held responsible for the actions of others. His wife and daughter on the other hand smell of trouble.

We can already tell what kind of people those two will turn out to be. The mother seems to be an ignorant person and probably will also turn out to be equally snobbish so she won’t seem to care what trouble the company is causing as long as it won’t come back to them and she is getting to spend the company money. It will be interesting to see Suji come to work at the company because she seems to enjoy partying more. She will probably be forced to do so by her father who will probably threaten to cut her off if she doesn’t show up at work and work there

I like Chung Dong. He seems like a nice person and it will be interesting to see how is friendship with Jihun will turn out once he discovers what he has been upto. He also seems to be a righteous and caring person. He will probably be involved somehow with Yewon. Perhaps he will take her husband’s accident case when she discovers foul play was involved or that Hana Drinks tried to bribe her when her husband reveals what was going on etc..

But speaking of her husband and his accident we can be sure that his mother is going to blame it all on her since these are usually the unreasonable characters in the show. Also it seems like another of her no good kids is going to show up at her place and Yewon will have to look after him as well. So it seems that so far only Yewon’s husband is the one that is actually working. The latest son seems to be either on his break from the military or just discharged. So I would give him time to develop but I wouldn’t hold my breath at the moment given the current state of the rest of the family.

@Cassandra E. Bett if you want to see bad in laws in Korean drams check out Harpy from the current weekend drama Love Is Beautiful, Life Is Wonderful. Or better yet the MiL from 100 Year Inheritance. Now that was a real monster. I gave up on that drama after just watching her and her treatment towards the Female Lead (and yes I was only planning on watching the show because of the female lead) that shows what kind of monster that MiL was. This MiL seems to be a bit better than the above two. While she has issues with her DiL and may say things to her face she still also seems to be a bit considerate towards her such as letting her of early because she realized that Yewon was also working equally hard since morning. But we will have to wait and see how she turns out. Also if it is true that she is okay with her to leave and return to her family after her son dies makes me a bit conflicted as to whether that is a good deed or being mean. Since that action can be a bit debatable.

Anyway that will be all from my end for the time being. So take care all of you and keep posting. Hope that my review helped people decide if they want to stick around or leave. Regardless do let me know.

I'm going to give it about 5 episodes before I begin watching. I'm such an impatient person - the thought of watching another 100+ episodes daily has me researching mental disorders at PsycheCentral. I would like to classify myself because there is definitely something wrong with me. I get too worked up over them for it to be a "normal" thing.

LOL:joy::mrgreen:. How long have you been watching daily dramas to get to this level lol:skull:

Jokes aside, the best thing to do is read the comments here first and decide if it's worth of it. That's what I do lol:glasses:.

Bwahhaahaa, that was exactly the plotline of "Love is drop by drop"! Luckily that show had so many unintentionally funny scenes and a ton of "easter eggs" (props with hidden meanings) that it became an extremely enjoyable watch.

Let me know when you find that classification. I had to start a blog to deal with my emotions about certain dramas. There will probably be a sub-heading for people like me who enjoy top-notch dramas like "60 days Designated Survivor" and "The Good Wife" but crave a walk on the "daily" side for the ridiculousness factor. :D
