Anddd..the carousel keeps spinning around and around in a vicious circle. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. Isn’t it just nauseating circling back to the same issues and power struggles over and over again? Is it not dizzying going around in circles like this? I know if I keep riding a carousel repeatedly, I’d be nauseous and want OFF. Who else is nauseated? The ride is OVER. Get off of it and move on! Go check out the water slide or Space Mountain! Grab an ice slushy and cool off!

Just think if HB and YJ really did measure each other up the way some of you are stacking them against each other..they’re always going to be either behind, ahead, above, below..any other direction besides BEING BY EACH OTHER’S SIDE. Which is the whole point of shipping them in the first place, isn’t it? So that we get them side by side? 

 

Do you think when HB is stealing 30 sec. glances at YJ, he’s stopping to think: “Man, I really wonder which rank on the movie power list I am compared to her…Oh Darn, guess I better limit my stares until I can slide my movie star ranking up to the top 10. Let me stop breathing in her superior air...” 

 

And YJ’s over here going, “Boy, get your soulful, pretty eyes away from me until you up your movie power ranking. I ain’t no scrub! Mama didn't raise no fool! Shut those dimples down, #27! Come talk to me when you power up!” 

 

Just imagine every time they’re about to kiss…a barricade stop sign pops up between them blaring: ERROR, ERROR! ALERT- BACK UP! YOU MAY NOT TOUCH LIPS UNTIL YOU HAVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT! BACK THE HECK OFF, YOUR LIPS ARE NOT OF EQUAL STANDING! DANGER, DANGER! 

 

Heck, if this was how they really saw/thought of each other, I would’ve plunged myself off of this ship since day 1 and drowned in a deep ocean of my own miserable, misguided tears because how could I be SO dang WRONG as to ship such shallow, vapid ppl?! WTH was I thinking?! 

 

This isn’t a Men’s bathroom where they’re whipping it out to measure the length of their star power, wealth, and celebrity status. 

 

Trust me, they both come to the table FULLY STACKED with MORE THAN ENOUGH to offer each other mentally, emotionally, intellectually, psychologically, and physically.  

 

But again if you’re so keen on whipping out your measuring tape..

 

Measure this: 

 

Measure the depth of their kindness.

Measure the extent of their humbleness. 

Measure how long or how often they stare at each other. 

Measure the sparkle in their eyes when they are lost in their own little world. 

Measure the joy of their inside jokes.

Measure the frequency and volume of their laughter. 

Measure the proximity of their body language. 

Measure the explosive electrical charge of their soulful connection. 

Measure how shockingly quick they are to reference each other. 

Measure how long they’ve both been waiting to find what they’re looking for.

Measure how they are limitlessly immeasurable to each other. 

 

STOP measuring what they mean to each other through price tags, rankings, bank accounts, assets, and status. The only thing we should be measuring is how long it's going take for them to put us out of our desperate waiting misery and rain the ultimate whopper of a candy on us! 

 

I'll throw you a bone though. The only unequal measurement I'll give you is that one close friend does indeed measure 185 cm while the other close friend only measures 165 cm. That's it. That's the only unequal measurement I'll give to you!

 

And if none of these measurements still seem to measure up to you: 

 

Then measure the length of their proverbial “middle fingers” to the world as they could give zero “cares”(Initially, I really wanted to insert another word that’s later in the alphabet but I meditated before writing this post ) about your projection of their relationship and what they mean to each other. Your opinion does not control or change how they feel about each other. 

 

If none of this still appeals/speaks to you, then go buy a ticket to another ride, please. This BinJin ride is closed. You just don’t quite meet the height requirement. Better luck “measuring up” next time!

Wow... love that we are getting content from both Bin and Jin!!! He's seriously so handsome and she's absolutely ethereal. They are both glowing and radiating from being in love I suppose.  I think I am not analyzing it as much in that the companies are probably trying to release content at similar times because they want to capitalize on the popularity of both of them individually and collectively after CLOY because they know that's what people want. Either way, I'm all for it

The number of times HB has said that he would get married only with his parents approval. Given the ex’s history and what I understand of Korean society- I am not sure if the parental approval will be forthcoming that easily. I can’t believe I managed to post this in the other thread (really I wasn’t trolling).

“ Smart’s new marketing campaign materials with Hyun Bin in them generated 20 times higher positive engagements, while social media shares—a measure of how customers are engaging with Smart—were 55 times higher.”   Our HB is unquestionably a crowd magnet (and not only a babe magnet) who puts money in the till of his sponsors. Hopefully this will inspire SMART to persevere with bringing SYJ on board as an endorser. If we think of “typical SYJ”, she might decline to keep her private life with HB separate from her professional life. However, if the “40-IG postings SYJ” is the new norm, she might well accept! Go get her SMART!

I share your view.  BinJin are now fully aware there is both Korean and worldwide support for their relationship. SYJ at Tiktok sweetly gave a heartfelt exclamation “How much you love us!” However, BJ also know very well K-ent, Knetizens and how fickle & extreme some fans can be. Remember YoonSeri’s dialogue that went “One-time fans are scarier than anti-fans”? So the wisest approach for them would be to tread carefully, get the public accustomed to news about them as a couple and once they feel they can trust us to respect their coupling and need for a private life, an announcement will be made. Perhaps in a few months, maybe later in the year. But I confess I feel like an impatient toddler, kicking my heels and waving my arms wildly about waiting for that moment, for that Great Party moment!!

 

A word of encouragement to newbies to back-read: It’s enormously rewarding to back-read as the early pages hold all the juicy details, theories and analyses that first burst upon this thread. I don't know about you but I'm still blissed out over SYJ's InstaLike blitz. I lay in bed this morning, reminiscing how we all got here. Couldn't help but think of HB’s protectiveness of SYJ, how he looks out for her in many ways and has done so for a long time now.  I thought to share a few of those moments here:

 

 

Clockwise from top left: Pic 1 HB shields her from a possible fall at the TN stage greeting (can't let that happen. She's his precious gem).  Pic 2 HB’s cart has her black Prada satchel on the top of the trolley (can’t let his love get too tired carrying around stuff). Pic 3 HB’s all ready to check-in but waits for SYJ’s white van carrying her luggage and assistant to arrive before going into the airport terminal. HB is in charge. Pic 4, At the end of CLoY filming, both are feeling under the weather. SYJ seems a little bit emotional but HB is right there to comfort her, squeezing her arm, holding her tight.

 

SYJ reciprocates in looking out for her HB too...

Clockwise from top left: Pic 1 HB gets teased about his credible swearing in TN movie but SYJ rises to defend him by saying how in real life, HB is very calm and doesn’t get angry. Pic 2, SYJ broadcasts HB's birthday  to her millions of IG followers for them partake in their celebration.  Pic 3, at the TN promo, one would have thought it would be the Boss (the TN Director) who would intro HB’s birthday to the crowd but no, SYJ took over the cheerleader role like a bubbly, giggly, girlfriend who’s awfully proud of her bf would do. And you can see that HB LIKED that. Pic 4, picking some bits off him – isn't it always the little things that are the most telling? 

 

**When a man and a woman are this way with each other once, we could say it’s good manners; if it happens twice, its EXTREMELY  good manners; if it happens 3x, it’s MORE than good manners and if it happens 4x...it’s sure looks like love. And the cherry on the pie are the recent bts of the Baeksang photo shoot – how SYJ looked back and upwards to see where HB was, and HB trying his very best to jostle and navigate himself to be near her….GASP!!! Although he didn't succeed (tall people tend to get placed right at the back), it's not the arrival but the journey, his effort.This is what love does and we were all witness to it.

Yejin's choice of color in almost every clothes even before meeting Bin is white. I think it has nothing to with being identical to him? They are still two totally different persons whether in a relationship or not.

It looks like people are really on it with the English translations for every BinJin related video, so every time I want to take time translating, I'm always late to the party...  ***shakes fist at work and real life***... 

Decided to go back to their TvN interview because I remember @Binjin2Ri pointed out awhile ago that there were some missing parts in the English subtitles. I used this video and I've marked it by the time in the video: 
 

0:16-0:23 --- I've mentioned this in a previous posts many, many pages ago, but the captions in Korean are just saying that it's an interview with HB and SYJ playing RJH and YSR from Crash Landing on You. And then it talks about how a characteristic of the interview is for them to use informal/casual language with each other, however, since they're both so polite, they end up mixing informal/casual with formal/honorifics. 

1:49 --- the part where YJ realizes she came prepared with the acronym for YSR rather than RJH (like she's supposed to) LOL
HB: "Ri!"

YJ: (tugs at his coat) "You did one right...?"
HB: "Nope... I can't tell you mine."
YJ: "Let me know yours..." in parentheses it says: "Begging for his idea" 

4:25 --- When YJ asks how similar she is with YSR and he says 70%
HB: "70%?"
YJ: "Why 70% all of a sudden?" (laughs)

4:40 --- YJ asks him to make 3 lines using YSR's name as an acronym

HB: "Can you call it out?" (example: Yoon! Se! Ri!)

YJ: "I see you thought about it beforehand."
HB: "Of course. I came prepared."
YJ: "Yoon!"
HB: "Yoon-ee-nah-neh." (It says "soft and beautiful," but the correct translation is "Shiny/glossy")
YJ: "Hey I was going to say that..." 
***NOTE: I love this part because they BOTH basically thought of and say the same exact thing (because they prepared these beforehand) for "Yoon," and "Se" in YSR. For "Yoon," they use a different variation of "shiny/glossy" and for "Se," they both use a variation again of, "The brightest light shining in the world."

 

6:10 --- When HB is asked to describe their drama and he says, "Sat/Sun ripped apart." 
HB: (thumbs up)
YJ: "You don't seem like a modern person... you keep (doing this)..." (modern= contemporary, someone who keeps up with current trends)

HB: "Of course I am a modern person..." 
YJ: "You keep (doing this)..."
(both laugh)

YJ: "Why are you doing this ahjusshi (old man)?"


This is definitely one of my favorite interviews during the CLOY era. They're so playful with one another, and because they use informal/casual language, it really shows how comfortable they are with one another...

A Winning formula

You may ask why everyone is raving about this K-drama. Why has it become such a popular phenomenon all over the world? I have the answer. The show’s writers gave us an infallible formula. Firstly, the two main characters have different personalities. Quite endearingly they complement each other. This pair has to fight more than their overbearing parents. More than different social statuses. Their love has to overcome the historical division between North and South Korea. They are star-crossed lovers like Gyeonu and Jiknyeo (characters comparable to Romeo and Juliet). Alongside this couple, Gu Seung-joon (Kim Jung-hyun) and Seo Dan (Seo Ji-hye) make us believe that love deserves a second opportunity.

 

Secondly, “Crash Landing on You” has a good balance between comedy, romance, drama and downright heart-stopping moments.

 

Thirdly, it has brilliant secondary characters. Each one has their own story that intertwines with the protagonists’ without a hitch. The supporting characters of “Crash Landing on You” deliver some of the most heartwarming performances. The story would not have been the same without Ri Jeong-hyeok’s four fellow soldiers, Jeong Man-bok (the tattletale of the village), Ri Jeong-hyeok’s parents and Seo Dan’s mother and uncle.

 

More Beneath the Surface

In a nutshell, “Crash Landing in You” is not only well written. It also touches on topics that universally attract everyone. Forbidden love, family relationships, loyalty, friendship and the business. But the show has given its viewers much more than that. Even if the story itself is fiction, it has opened the public’s eyes to conflicts outside of their geographical surroundings. The show manages to explore the sensitive topic of the separation between North and South Korea in some of the most metaphorical and artful ways.

 

This incredibly popular K-drama has not only gained widespread attention in South Korea and worldwide. With 21.7% of ratings, it has become the third highest-rated drama in the history of Korean cable television. It has gained various nominations for the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards, a ceremony which pays honor to South Korean film, TV and theatre. (This year’s ceremony takes place on Friday, June 5).

“Crash Landing on You” is nominated for Best Drama, Best Actor (Hyun Bin), Best Actress (Son Ye-jin), Best Supporting Actor (Yang Kyung-won) and twice for Best Supporting Actress (Seo Ji-hye and Kim Sun-young).
