Just dropping by to say hello to everyone especially to those who were here during BAA. Reading through the comments I reminisced what we've been through. The ahjumma in us prevailed over other voters who are young and were rooting for idols. The younger ones here were kind enough to guide us, together with those shippers who actively promoted in Twitter and Instagram.

 

Who would have thought that we who hate TikTok would be able to download and use the app actively. Others even bribed their friends and relatives just to install and vote for our OTP. Who would have thought that ahjummas who usually sleep early would pull an all nighter just to monitor the votes and results. Who would have thought that we who only rely on subtitles when watching K-Dramas would stand by and watch the entire BAA ceremony without understanding any word that they said. We've done all these for the love of BinJin. And the best thing is that all our efforts had paid off. It was even acknowledged by them.

 

We've seen BinJin giving those glances and subtle smiles, together on stage giving each of their speech, and they've even granted a backstage interview holding one trophy. 

 

I hope we continue to support BinJin in whatever way we can. Hoping to see them in APAN with BAA v2.0. Fighting!

I am an ahjumma and I did try watching ads and collected hearts to vote in the Checholgang app. All for the love of BinJin.

 

Come Idol app, I can buy hearts and I did just that and abandoned the other app.

 

I have some money to spend for voting.. but I am not diligent enough. 

 

My point is, you do you but please don't invalidate others' efforts for BinJin. 

 

The only one to be blamed is thissssss voting creator who sucks our money coz they know fans ARE WILLING.. and I succumbed to the evil. All for the love of BinJin. 

 

IF they win and attend, we are the receiving ends of their latest movement and that surely makes us happy.

Hi Binjin Shippers!

I am so excited to share an old receipt of Binjin chemistry. Not sure if anyone have made this connection before, but I've just discovered it for myself and want to share with everyone!

 

This is from way back in Pifan 2014 where both SYJ and HB received the Producers Award. It was the first time that Binjin formally met in an event (HB recall this was the 1st time they met but YJ had forgotten haha!). I think everyone here also remember that we didn't see much interaction between them at Pifan 2014, at least not from the videos and pictures we have seen. HB seemed rather shy, and YJ was wearing that super sexy low cut dress (with the safety pin lol). I think they might have shared a few polite words but we didn't see a lot of interaction. I've always suspected that HB was too shy to look at YJ directly for too long cuz of her sexy dress, especially the neckline, LOL!! Also they were not familiar with each other during that time.

 

With all that background, there is this ONE single picture that showed them looking at each other and laughing/ smiling happily together on stage during Pifan 2014, and this is one of my FAVORITE pix of them at the event, and in fact one of my FAV Binjin pix ever. There was just that chemistry there and it surprised me since they seem to have minimal interaction at the event.

I've always wondered WHAT HAPPENED here? Was this photoshopped?

Why did they look so happy as if they shared a joke or humour that no one else knew?

They even have close eye contact!

 

 

 

Well, I finally found out WHY!! The video below was recently posted and shared on twitter. YJ was making her speech, and HB was politely smiling and listening, but mostly looking at the audience. But after YJ finished, it seems she forgot about the translator and must have started walking away! When she realised her mistake, she started laughing and looked at HB, and THAT WAS WHEN THE MAGIC HAPPENED!! That shared humour, the eye contact, that CHEMISTRY!! They were so CUTE TOGETHER then, though they were not close friends yet. 

 

 

 

Here's the moment in the video, at 1:06 onwards, which is the exact same as the Binjin picture above. I wish we can find the video which showed both of them together in one frame as per the picture.

 

 

 

In Conclusion, that Binjin Chemistry, Binjin Humour, was there all along!! I am so glad they met again in 2017 for The Negotiation and rediscovered that shared humour and chemistry that even they didn't realise they had back in 2014 when they first met.

@kimeon_I thought I was reading my post and I realized I have not posted yet.  It is easier for me to pay than go through all the efforts of collecting hearts and what not.  I ended up paying for highest bundle so I can just click and click.  while I agree to the point of the poster that bought votes should not matter, but this is a fandom.  Unlike politics, where votes should not and cannot be bought, here you can do anything you want to show support. We all have our own way of showing it and we all have our opinion about it.

 

  Let those of us who can pay, do so, Many probably already do donate to charity and I buy the products they endorse (tell me about it, I even have the Body Luv pillow).  

 

Thank you to all the young ones who inspire older ones that we can do anything and everything for our OTP.  As BAA has shown us the reward is worth all that effort.

My take is serious actors care more about their craft and the recognition from their peers/governing bodies than a popularity/most beautiful/etc. awards. A best actress/actor award is the goal.

 

What did you expect them to say when they got the popularity award? That they don’t want it or appreciate it? No one would be that stupid.

 

i apologize if you and anyone else perceive my words are harsh but it is the truth - all these other non-acting awards are actually for us the fans.  The best way to show support for them is to purchase the products they advertise, as it generates more commercial opportunities and increase their future fees.

Disclaimer first: Not aiming at any users regarding this voting topic.

 

During Baeksang period there’s also disagreement about this popularity awards among shippers and solo stans over at Weibo. They think that it’s useless and it’s a degradation to BinJin. But I thought having a popularity award is not too bad since it shows that they have the demands from fans. And of course our competitors make us angst and we want to prove them wrong. 

 

So after they attended and awarded, tons of pictures, videos came out and we were all very happy and swooning over those candies. 
 

And after 3 months, the same thing happened with APAN award. And I suddenly have thoughts as a sponsoring voter.

 “hmm those people who disagree on the Baeksang voting, did they swoon over the materials that was achieved by our hard work?”

”why am I working so hard/paying to let BinJin win and if they really win, those unsupportive stans are enjoying candies based on my hardwork/money”

 

Anyway my thoughts regarding this sponsorship is it’s your own choice and no one can judge unless you steal or cheat those money.

Cloy was my first Kdrama.  I watched Kdrama because someone convinced me.  After that, i watched other dramas on nextflix, such as When Camellia blooms, SITR, King,.. but only few episodes and quit, only Mr. Sunshine is in my liking.  After that, I looked up the casts and BinJin got my attention.  I was disappointed when Cloy didn't win best drama in Baeksang, but I understand because it's within Korean. With Halliyu, i think Cloy was robbed 3 times,  HB should get the popular actor, and SYJ should get best actress beside popular actress, and Cloy itself of course.   CLOY has reached wider audience, brought people like me (mostly on the west) to Kdrama, who are not familiar with Korean culture.  BTW, i watched DOTS and couldn't finish either.

Therefore,  i've been actively voting in AAA & APAN just to voice my opinion, despite i dislike the way the organizers benefit from selling ads or merchandises. .  It fails short in AAA though, admitted BinJin fans are not much gamers or more IOS users (me :) .  APAN is more fairness than AAA, if you can't play game, you can buy your way out either IOS or Android.  I wish they only have charities to help and the award would be more prestigious and meaningful.   I chose to buy stuffs and donated to charity because my time is valuable.  I didn't waste money because i'm going to use those merchandise.  Nevertheless, just because people are starving, that doesn't  mean you should eat less.  I hope that we win APAN for BinJin to show that they deserve the award and recognition from all over the world.  As they said in Baeksang, the popular award is more meaningful to them because it came from fans

I purchased hearts and actually sponsored a few fans...

 

There are some voting polls that I just don't bother with , like that metrostyle beauty poll (though I did vote a few times). The winner wins nothing. It's just to help generate traffic/revenue for that website. But this time, my attitude's a little different. The stupid thing about the voting process for APAN and AAA is they clearly made it for their advertisers. You either watch ads, play games or take quizzes which are full of ads, or purchase hearts or merchandise that come with hearts. I don't have time to watch ads, so I decided to take the easy route to purchase hearts. Do I think this thing is stupid and a cash-grab? Absolutely. But is it worth it? Yes. 

 

I'm thinking back to Baeksang how I wasn't voting initially but seeing all the passion and devotion on Twitter, I finally decided to download Tik Tok to vote. We were up against idols and antis who teamed up with these idol stans. And in the end, it was totally worth it, seeing both HB and YJ on stage thanking their fans wholeheartedly. Are Best Actors and Actress awards the goal? Of course. But those are out of our control. The voting bodies at Baeksang weren't going to give Best Actor/Actress to them - they had zero votes. Or at least YJ got zero votes. I don't remember for HB.

 

What we fans can control are the popularity awards. Yes, BinJin don't need the popularity awards, but from their Baeksang speech, no one can convince me that they weren't touched. Their thank you speech was way more emotional and heartfelt than warranted for a "measly" popularity award. It was coordinated. It's as if they won the biggest award that night. HB looked a bit teary and YJ thanked us in English + wrote an IG post thanking us. Heck, remember the next day many news media put BinJin front and center, while winners of other bigger awards were placed to the side? We voted not just for their popularity's sake, it was our way to let them know their relationship is supported by millions worldwide. (As a bonus, YJ's liking spree happened).

 

I also had my reservations about spending money just to have a smoother voting process, as it's very clear to me that it is rigged that way. Before I purchased the hearts, I was afraid it'll be gone to waste if they don't win in the end. I also felt like we were "buying" it for them, so it felt less sincere. However, the level of coordination and passion of BinJin fans, especially the youngin's on Twitter, is really admirable. Many of us don't have the time for this, really. We are either working, studying, or both. But we are still devoting time to this and that's something that shouldn't be taken away. 

 

Additionally, CLOY has been snubbed again and again this year. At the very least, we fans can give the show and BinJin the recognition that they deserve. And back to the voting process, it's not a requirement to buy hearts. You can very well spend hours trying to accumulate 300 hearts each day. Whatever methods we choose, we just want to see BinJin on stage/win together again.

In addition to wanting to see them together on stage again, and contributing to giving them the recognition they deserve (fans side), from another perspective I think it helps further in a way to their already glowing star power for brand endorsements. They've been serious actors and actresses (evidenced by their roster of acting awards) but the added likeability factor for brands to choose them for CFs (i mean for the explosion of their CFs this year in the aftermath of CLOY). The popularity awards, another tangible proof of their clout that at this time even months after, fans are still seriously supporting them. Especially for international fans (as most of us here are, I assume) who have less access to the actual products they endorse in Korea (with the exception of those who live where they have intl endorsements like the Philippines, Thailand, China) it's another way to show support apart from  increasing/maintaining their drama's Netflix standings through views, liking their posts and CFs, increasing the number of followers of the brands they endorse on social media (spike in brand awareness, following). Positive popularity, clout offline and online, some of the things that brands take into consideration when choosing endorsers.  (*i used to work brand side hence this perspective)

Anyway, next year I think they won't be eligible anymore for all of these awards right so no harm in trying.

I'm delurking to support freedom of expression here. I would like to thank you all for creating this wonderful, positive space. I rarely post but I'm a silent, supportive reader (freedom of expression includes quietness too  ). My Binjin support goes against what I usually do - I'm also ahjumma and I don't like being the 'product' for any apps or websites and basically that's what we are, especially free ones. Yet I did download TikTok for Baeksang voting, and was proud to be part of that effort. I've opted not to do any more voting -  it's my choice not to do it - I respect anyone elses right to spend their money that way. BTW I noticed quite a spam increase after joining Soompi too - but I do it all for BinJin!!  This is such a difficult time for everyone and this thread is a refuge so I agree please with the sentiment of be kind and tolerant unless a member is actively trolling.
