I had an inkling it was you as someone mentioned here the tweet account is also a Soompi member, and I saw your name Kari on the tweet profile. Thanks again for those links, was looking for them for soo long and didn't even know where to start! Not often that I get to understand a discussion about Binjin and CLOY, without needing Eng sub.

 

I've listened to the radio programs now up to March 11th (the one with the NK expert). For some of them, I can't find the segment where they talk about CLOY/ Binjin - might have missed it during fast-forwarding and the segments might be a small one. For the ones I've heard, I decided to do a summary translation cuz it was SO entertaining and funny, and also very insightful, esp the Feb 18 and June 9 show. I didn't dare attempt a word-for-word translation cuz the DJs talk on top of each other and its crazy confusing at times! So i really salute your efforts to translate the entire portion of CC explaining why YJ's acting in that "wait for RJH to come back" scene was so awesome and why its an acting class quality performance. CC herself is both good at melodramas and comedy, and she really is an AMAZING actress, so what she said about YJ's acting and how she is such a great fan of YJ really means a lot.

 

Carol Cheng has definitely earned her stripes in the entertainment industry, so her views about CLOY and Binjin definitely carries weight. And yes, we can be clowns together with her too but seriously, I don't think we or CC are delusional at all. 

 

I also noticed that she follows the current trends pretty closely - she's even a BTS fan! And played one of the BTS song "ON" in the program (where she also didn't fail to mention HB, Binjin and CLOY haha). She's a veteran of veterans in HK-ent, and ppl like Andy Lau and Tony Leung will bow down to her out of deep respect. That is how influential she is. For her to ship and fully believe in Binjin gives me great satisfaction haha!

 

What you pointed out about a significant word that CC said "you have to calculate love". That is so typical Hongkonger approach, very practical and rational, very direct and to the point. Binjin definitely cannot afford to act irrationally, though I believe they have already acted beyond what they normally would do rationally. Cuz I believe they are deeply in love with each other and want to spend HUGE amount of time with each other. Yet they cannot avoid balancing the rational and emotional parts in their choices. I think CC was expressing that rational part in her POV about marriage and Binjin, yet at the same time you can see her emotional side keep coming up as she swoon and wish for Binjin to get married, in the same breath that she cautioned marriage haha!! That's a real struggle, and I think she expressed it well.

 

About the June 9th show where CC raised up YJ's IG liking spree, I still don't think I've done it full justice. So if you still have the motivation to translate it in more detail, please do! And yes, you brought up an insightful point, that CC was also anxious like us and trying to decipher what YJ's liking spree means, and you can tell she really wants it to mean she is confirming Binjin. Esp of what happened 2 weeks ago about the fake rumor. And yes, I had to laugh at what CC did NOT say about it, cuz that means a lot based on her tone of voice, the way she said that she won't say anything more and just the whole vibes. She just want to focus on Binjin and what YJ did and what it means.   I also caught what Ma Lei said - it's kinda obvious to anyone that YJ's liking spree is almost like confirming. But as CC said, fans still want a direct confirmation haha! 

 

Oh yeah, thanks for correcting about the Valerie and Ma Lei part. I was confused by that. And CC said Valerie was crying watching CLOY while on the cycling machine (or it could be the treadmill), it was not in the voice message.

 

P.S. Btw @Kari, do you think CC knows the real deal about Binjin? She has so many connections in entertainment and it would be easy for her to ask them. Either she decided not to ask or she did but just keeping it to herself.

I enjoyed your post and insights. I also know about CC and Lui Fong, which was a total surprise coupling for most people (at least general public). What CC said is well-founded and her points are likely to have been considered seriously by Binjin, whether individually or together, or maybe both, first by themselves and then together. Both are planners, detailed people, and both respect and have a lot of passion for their work as actors. At the same time, they are at an age where they begin to look at what they want in their personal life and work life, and how to balance both. I think YJ has enough close friends in the industry who married non-celeb, those who married celeb, and who are still single. From her most recent interviews, you can see she knows the pros and cons of being married and staying single, yet at the end of it she still talked about yearning to have a family cuz she sees how happy family life can be too. That's why she want to meet the right person and get married by 40, though when it comes to the age factor, we don't have to hold her to it cuz things can totally change, even if you meet the right person after that age haha! You can't really stop matters of the heart. 

 

In fact, after listening to CC's  Feb 18th/ June 9th radio program, my biggest hope is for Binjin to be able to quietly and privately continue with their personal life, and decide on their future, without interference or pressure from outside. Now when you change that to "marrying anyone as a celeb...", that doubles the complexity cuz it's a lifelong commitment. Yes, its the same for everyone when it comes to marriage, but as S-Tier stars under super high scrutiny, esp after CLOY, they have to be extra careful. The good thing is that almost EVERYONE, both in SK and Internationally (minus the antis) look favourably upon them. Maybe that is also why they want to be doubly-sure, triply-sure, before making that big step, cuz they don't want to disappoint anyone, though in the end, it's really their life and their decision alone that really matters.

 

I've been too long-winded, and probably kept repeating the same thing over and over again. At the end of the day, just like CC who tried to be rational but at the same time can't help but wish with all her heart that Binjin will end up together happily ever after, I am exactly the same. And I believe most of you here feel the same too.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Song Yunah! So YJ has 2 close friends who are married to celebs. I think she has likely learnt much from them already and knows the pros and cons of it. What's more, HB and herself have that same passion and belief in their dreams as actors, share the same values, and even understand each other without talking. Kindred spirit. Lifelong friends and partners. Those words always come out when I think of Binjin. Only hope the best for the both of them.

Ever since HB came back September has been a good month for BinJin nation. I decided to compile some of my favorite quotes from HB/SYJ. (this literally took me DAYS because there's SO much). To those that are starting to have doubts because of the drought, I hope this could change your mind. Even IF they're not in a relationship, you can see the love they have for each other in their words/action. Please don't be a two faced "fan" one day when you decide to stop shipping them and act like you were never in this ship in the first place because you were (we don't know anyone like that right?)

WARNING: If you're not a fan then look away because these quotes are as sweet as honey, there's no point in reading it and giving negative reactions on our posts, it's a waste of your time.

This quote is more of RJH talking to YSR but BinJIn themselves said that they are 100% like their characters, so I'm going to imagine it's HB saying it to SYJ because it is my favorite quote, "I'll be grateful that you were born into this world. I'll be grateful that the person I love is still breathing." 

 

I just want to say that all of these quotes came from BinJin themselves so take it or not it's up to you, but in my humble opinion I don't think they have ever spoken about someone with so much depth & sincerity before, so they must be very important to each other & this is the biggest receipt for me (the way they talk about each other). Whether these two are in a relationship or just friends I love the fact that they value each other so much. In this relationship/friendship they are EQUAL & it's what makes them so special. At the end of the day I hope they can always stay this happy & keep this special connection & bond that they have created over the years. And can't wait for the next couple of days to come, we're in for a treat. 19-SMART cf part 2? Joint cf soon please. 22-Our special day, the anniversary of the great wall of HB on IG. 25-His birthday. 26-Quarantine is over and finally 27-Her fan meeting. Honestly..no one is doing it like JAPAN. Can they give some awards to CLOY cause they truly understand why this is a masterpiece..Our pleas anyways falls into deaf ears in Korea. No dvd, award snub ,no promotion,no interview even from Park Ji eun or Pd LJH..I honestly want a detailed interview from PJE so that my curiosity gets satisfied regarding those easter eggs introduced in CLOY.

After all what could be better than listening directly to the writer of the greatest love saga of this decade.

 

Here is an article by yahoo Japan ,which conducted a survey as how much CLOY is liked by men and women and what aspect of CLOY draws them more. Majority were attracted by the acting and  over all performances..

It was surprising to see that at some point, men scored higher than women. This is the biggest difference from the first HALLYU wave brought in by Winter Sonata which was popular amongst middle and old aged ladies only.

Also ,apart from being constantly at number 1 position, the CLOY related merchandise have been going out of stock. Especially the Ost is breaking records there .

It's about time. Yejin is the one who get bashed and suffered because of the ridiculous and baseless rumor back in July. When she was not even involved in that rumor. Poor her. Yes! CC is just like us. Trying to be rational but also can't hide her emotional side that really wants BinJin to end up together. There is no way she is also a clown or delusional LOL

 

Right?! It's so cool listening to BinJin stuff without needing translations. I chose to translate the Feb 28th first because I thought what CC said about Yejin was really the highest praise I have ever heard anyone said about her acting. She pretty said her acting is TEACHING MATERIAL. These are words coming from a celebrated veteran actress! They really carry a lot of weight. I was so touched by her words. Another thing is that scene she praised YJ for in ep 5 was THE scene that made me fall in love with YJ. I'm no expert in acting or filming but I knew that was a hard scene to act out. So this is why I had to translate the Feb 28th one first....not gonna lie, I did it partially to f-l-e-x. lmao. You know what? I'm gonna send MSTeam those translations. This level of praise should not fall on deaf's ears. Well Yejin's ears. If anyone can translate it to Korean, that's even better. 

 

This is also why I really really want CC and Yejin to meet one day. I am hoping CC will interview YJ. All the interviews I've watched or read of YJ...I hate to say it, I don't know why Asian entertainment media like to ask so much fluff - like what's your favorite food? Favorite color? Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend? Do you want to get married? etc. Lol I like those questions too, but it seems like they like to ask celebs those same questions at every darn promo event. So I think if CC interviews her, assuming her BinJin shipper side won't come out lol, I think she'll ask YJ some really good questions on acting etc. 

Fun fact: CC had almost similar thoughts as YJ on CLOY's ending. CC felt that the ending's emotional impact wasn't enough and we all read tht YJ (along with the cast/crew) realized a reshooting of the reunion/kiss was needed. CC also noticed that they weren't wearing their rings in the ending (something they promised they will never take off). She knew they shot the Swiss scenes first, so there's nothing you can do about the absence of the rings, but she was critiquing the discontinuity. She was speaking not just as a mere viewer, but as an expert.

It's what she DIDN'T say and her TONE that kind of told me MORE. As for translating that segment more in-depth - GOOD NEWS!  sara @binjinsyjhb on Twitter is going to upload a word-for-word translation of the June 9th clip. We actually talked briefly on Twitter to see how to translate it....because of that 'sensitive' part that TotoroSY and I mentioned earlier LOL 

Just FYI everyone - it's nothing bad. Nothing bad was said. So don't expect anything earth shattering lol But it was more of the avoidance of the (reconciliation) topic that gave it more away. It was CC's tone, voice, word choice and avoidance of talking about a certain party involved in the reconciliation fake news that made me go .

Anyway, we'll see what sara on Twitter does. 

 

As for whether CC has insider scoop on BinJin, I'm not really sure. In some of the radio show episodes, she seemed genuinely clueless about whether they're together. Some background: she invited an NK/SK cultural expert (male) who's been to NK no less than 7 times to talk about CLOY etc. At one point, she was pressing him about whether BinJin is real LOL He said he doesn't know. but he said even if they are it's better/makes sense that they don't confirm in case the relationship doesn't work out in the future. This was in February or March, by the way. So it's not recent. I would also argue that expert doesn't actually know enough about Binnie or Jinnie like we do. So I'm not really sure if CC is insider info. Even if she does, I don't think she'll say it openly? But I'm on the side that she doesn't have insider knowledge.

Happy anniversary to this CGV event where the glorious line " HB seems to like more"  was spoken by our matchmaker.

Something just clicked rn .So during the initial TN promo  tours I guess in August , Binjin were asked to give scores to their chemistry.. HB gave 90 out of 100 .. Whereas YJ gave 100 saying that she enjoyed working with him even through the monitor..(This one was quoted by @Krystal. in her latest post).

LMAO why do I feel like YJ got a bit disappointed as he didn't give her full points..

Now come back to this CG talk show clip that I posted from Twitter. The question was asked again and our Binsshi this time amended his mistake and gave 100 points. But lol!! Yejin being Yejin ..she will leave no chance to annoy or fluster him.

Hence came her taunt that the maximum must be 1000  as if not believing that HB gave her full 100 points this time..

.. You can see how embarrassed HB was and went on to say that 100 is the max.. Anyways..I really like the banter between these two..Only they can understand the humour between them. We as viewers have a wide smile plastered on our faces just by Binjin's reaction and interactions.

 

I dare not say anything about YJ 's personality cause I don't know her personally. But in my mind she has this image of someone who always likes to beat others be it with her witty replies or  while playing various games. I think YJ doesn't forget things easily even if they are trivial..for example this chemistry score card or the fact about  projects that HB declined in which both were in talks..etc. It is what I observed based on a few instances.. Reality may be completely opposite though..

@eLizza  did you watch the TN interview?  You should as SYJ was in full form and witty!! She was quick and for me, her response was a joke/pulling his leg/witty - he said 90% because he regretted they were on screen and not face to face. See her “acting” - look at her face and body language - when she replied she even loved the monitor interaction. It was a quite a witty response! What I am trying to convey is - she told him to go first, so she see if she could come back with a funny/witty response.

Which brings me to another topic that antis love to bring up,its where HB used to say that he tried to separate his work and private life thats why BinJin ain’t real.

HB and YJ expressed constantly how they wanted to work together again in a lighter genre even before they were caught in a dating scandal or maybe even before they started being a thing.In every interviews during TN Promo thats all HB and YJ kept talking about.Both passionate actor and actress who wished to work together again but in a rom-com drama.So isn’t it obvious why they denied their dating rumor in the beginning...it’s because they want a chance to work together again just once more.But some people wouldn’t even understand their intention and twist it to something as ridiculous as mediaplay because they probably ship a couple in which the other half is not even passionate about their work in the first place.While BinJin is a pair who wanted to do something great together as a passionate actor and actress which is to create a good masterpiece.

 

I could go on more about this but just to cut it short,one thing for sure though...whether it’s media play or not,they’re both clearly not dating anyone else either because they’re not even trying to protect anyone else feelings plus the fact that they keep feeding the shippers too until now even when they know how brutal shippers can be especially if those shippers find out they’re dating or gonna date someone else...and HB especially knows that from past experience.So in conclusion to all these,ICBM lol Just wait for it....

 

Anyway,haters gonna hate no matter what.They will do and say anything just to dismiss and sink BinJin.It’s difficult to change those people views who doesn’t even want to face the reality in the first place so oh well...

BinJin is so similar in so many ways...I know they’ve said it so many times how they have a lot of things in common etc but I didn’t realized even their consideration towards other people and how they are with other people during work is so similar too.

That interview was years ago but it ended up coming true years later....

He really fell inlove with a girl who works hard for her dream since the beginning.Who’s crying right now?lol

In regards of people who are somehow still doubting BinJin relationship...Honestly,it’s really hard for me to process that.I know we’re also trying to be realistic too but when something is that obvious and that even people in the industry believe they’re real too but then,there’s people who called themselves shippers who are still having doubts...I just don’t know what to think or say.But I guess everyone is different and you can’t just help when you have a faint heart especially during drought season...that’s why people who are easily influenced and who always overthink every situation should avoid being in the shipping business tbh 

Anyway,i hope our ship dock soon so some won’t be a faint hearted shipper anymore and will fully enjoy the beauty of shipping without any worries.

Happy 2 years to also Binnie getting so embarrassed during  the fan questions  Thinking Min Tae Gu (Thinking Gu is cute in Korean instead) and person got lost in her thoughts of her question and called him unnie 

 

I also loved how much Jinnie was laughing from it. She said that it was the most she has laughed so far.

I think some people don't understand the  meaning of mediaplay/fanservice. It's something celebrities engage in to increase ratings/attention for their work (movie, TV, etc...) beyond the regular expected promotional activities. So in the case of actors who know they are being shipped with another actor, it would mean that during filming and while show is airing they would try to purposely exploit that interest from fans by posting a lot of pictures together on social media, for example. Or maybe openly flirting during promotional activities or tease about the possibility of dating during interviews. You get the picture. 

 

So someone will have to explain to me how either HB and SYJ have engaged in such behavior  If anything, ever since the grocery incident they have been trying to downplay their relationship. 

 

HB doesn't have social media so we mainly look at SYJ. Knowing how much interest it would generate, wouldn't she have posted more than 1 pic of her and HB during the entire 7 month filming process? Or anything since?  No one would bat an eye either since it's work related and many many other actors do this. But we only ever got the 1 pic. 

 

CLOY then ended and she went totally off the grid for months even though the show was starting to really take off internationally and gaining a huge fanbase. Still she is quiet except for posting a pic of a plant and her thank you challenge pic.  

 

Finally we get to June /Baeksang. In the backstage video she tells us her and HB were aware of the fan voting campaign that went on and only after the event does she then go on her liking spree. If she was interested in fanservice to ensure they got the votes, she could have done something prior to Baeksang. But there was nothing. 

 

She only recently started doing some post- CLOY press and the Smart campaign (the only CF that is CLOY related).  I am confused how at this point, 6 months after the drama ended, this fits the narrative of fanservice. Truth is, most actors would have done a lot more to take advantage of all the fan attention they have been receiving.

I think to them this is a long term investment so they don't want to spoil what they have established . They are protecting their commitment to each other. They know that if they allow the public inside they will loose each other. I am proud of them for acting out well that part. Let's not forget on the last episode of cloy he said( you came into my life as a gift to SYJ ) . I bet you that line he added it and he meant it. If you go through most episodes of cloy and bts, even if it was just acting they were really close to each other and very respectful of each, the kind of husband wife interaction. Yes bickering was there sometimes but there was a lot of respect and consideration. I like bts in that episode where he came fast after SYJ was caught hiding, they were holding hands SYJ was hiding behind him and he asked them to cut that scene. Meaning they were caught just like that scene under the table holding hands. 

Both of them are lucky to have each other, they are so adorable.
