Of course, I'm biased when I say this but BinJin was the best part of the Baeksang Awards ... no other Hollywood power couple comes close, in my estimation.  SYJ, even in a simple slip dress paired with those drop dead gorgeous earrings, accompanied by the most handsome man in the room.  Hands down, the king & queen of the night!  They may not have won the major awards but who are we kidding ... CLoY is a precious gift to the world when we all had to shelter in place.  And it would not have been possible if these two beautiful people were not involved.

 

Someone in IG made a very insightful point that since 2018, each of them has not been seriously linked to any other person; only to each other.  HB looked tense but one small glance from her & he smiled.  Loved her look of concern for him when he lost the Best Actor award.  Never seen SYJ so radiant & beautiful, ever.  Little things do count ...

First time poster here. I just want to say thank you to this community for providing a welcoming and overall positive venue for BinJin fans to show their support for the couple and to share our thoughts. I have enjoyed reading the posts here, many of which have been quite insightful. Thank you!!

 

Here are some of my thoughts:

 

SHIP IS SAILING

I agree with all the posts that say the ship is sailing steadily based on all the receipts previously presented (exchange of glances on stage, the post-show TikTok couple speech, matching RL outfits, etc.).  Both their stylists (officially affiliated with them) have posted their couple photo on IG.  If either HB or SYJ did not want that to be part of the narrative, they could insist on their stylists posting only solo photos.  I also want to highlight the insight of another poster who stated that these two celebrities, who reportedly want to be married in the next few years, would not allow themselves to be caught up in unfounded rumors for this long.  SYJ has denied other rumors before.  This one would have been easy to deny at any time.

 

Now to the question even some in this forum ask about whether they EVER dated, that to me seems indisputable.  They have surely dated, again based on previously presented receipts, chiefly the grocery photos. Even looking at SYJ’s IG, she took selfies with other actors but not as many, none as sweet (literal heart over the two of them), and none on significant holidays.  Based solely on her IG, I would even go so far as to say SYJ, while not outright admitting anything, was quite openly acknowledging her relationship.  No doubt whatsoever that they dated.

 

WHY DO WE CARE SO MUCH

Even as I ship this couple, I find myself challenging my own interest in these two celebrities whose relationship does not directly affect my life.  I have admired other celebrity couples before but none to this degree.  Why do I care so much?  My answer is that these two individuals, separately, have shown themselves to be humble, generous, hardworking, and, yes, beautiful, among other admirable qualities.  That they should find each other at the right time in their lives and careers, be so well matched, encourage the other to be even better, and appear to truly care for one another, is quite a beautiful sight to behold.  Also, since their characters in CLOY are similar to their real-life personalities, it is very easy for us fans to conflate the characters and the people.  Watching CLOY seems to be a peek into their private lives, not completely without basis, and makes us feel connected to them more than other couples.  The way they have conducted themselves in interviews and other public appearances portray a connected and passionate yet wholesome couple.  Whether or not this image is completely true, it is this wholesomeness that attracts even casual or first-time k-drama viewers and keeps them invested in the outcome of this relationship.  It inspires us on their behalf and maybe even in our own relationships and that is good enough reason to keep shipping.

 

Here's hoping the waters are calm as we continue to sail along!

Sooooooooo, are we all okay now? There's no moving on from BAA I guess haha! But yeah, hi, Swoonies BinJin nation! (I know y'all heard that. Imagine the possibility of Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin addressing us just that in the future. )

 

I needed some time to absorb all the emotions, gather my thoughts, and go through a thought process before finally getting myself to write and share my insights about our OTP in the recently-concluded (I still can't believe it's over) BAA. This has been on draft mode since Friday, and I might still edit this post in the coming days as I fear I might have missed something... so please bear with me hihi

 

Ok, first of all -- BINJIN ARRIVED. AND ARRIVE THEY DID. 

 

Ms. (Korea) beautiful, chaebol, high class SON YE JIN! Ma'am, that face, that hair, that dress and those earrings, where / how do I even begin? Ottoke?! We finally saw a moving (and eye-smiling, talking, and laughing) Son Ye Jin after CLOY Wrap-up Party Era... and she sure as hell made sure we won't forget about it. 

 

As for our Mr. Two Citizenships: Korea and Heaven, National Treasure, CEO-nim HYUN BIN! Excuse me, Sir, but who allowed you to look that good? Who??? 

 

And so when SYJ stepped out of that van, WOW. JUST WOW. I couldn't believe my eyes. (Tbh I was kinda afraid the leaked article about her dress would lessen my expectations, but no.) She looked SO, SO GOOD in that dress; and that dress looked SO, SO GOOD on her, I actually teared up the moment I saw her. Then here comes HB, in a navy blue tux, brushed-up, undercut gorgeousness. Maaan, I had no words. I was giddy and drooling the whole time he walked that annoyingly short red carpet. We deserved more. 

 

(Side story: I have a friend whose wedding motif was Midnight Blue and Gold. At the time, I searched the theme on Pinterest, also because we were encouraged to be, well, in theme. I think we can all agree that it's one of the most beautiful wedding motifs, yes?) 

 

For those who have seen my previous post where I mentioned that I'm no longer calling his tux navy blue, and that I couldn't get over how they matched-- MIDNIGHT BLUE AND GOLD WEDDING VIBES, Y'ALL  While without us knowing that HB's tux was also actually from Ralph Lauren, we were already thinking they complemented each other's looks so well. Then the BinJin gods may have really heard all our prayers... and so they decided to give us more crumbs with the confirmation that both were actually dressed in/by Ralph Lauren. And then we all thought, ahhh that's why! Again, if this hasn't been said enough, they really complemented each other that night and I'm never getting over it!!! Commending their Stylists and Makeup Artists for giving us such Daesang-worthy looks. My favorite thus far. I can go on and on, but to summarize-- Individually, they look really good; but together, THE BEST. 

 

Now as for the awards, I haven't seen most of the films/dramas and so I wouldn't say much (as this is a BinJin shipping forum after all) except congratulations to all the nominees and winners! Hats off especially to Kim Hee Ae from TWOTM (her acting there was beyonddd) and to our comrade, Wol Sook, Kim Sun-young-- I read in an english translation that it's her first award since she started acting 6 years ago? That why she was crying during her speech. Awww! Focusing on CLOY, though, I am not gonna lie I got a bit sad that they didn't bring home the top awards / Grand Prize. Also, that HB & SYJ didn't win Best Actor & Best Actress respectively. But hugs, CLOY & BinJin fam! There's still hope! I heard there are still a lot of awards shows coming. We'll get it next time!  

Thirdly, now we all know, our OTP definitely sees us. They saw how we voted and the lengths we all went to just to secure the Popularity Award for them. They see this forum, they see our comments and well-wishes, they see the fake subs (I hope they enjoyed it too haha!); they see the references and the jokes (i.e. Hello, this is ___ from V/@st); and they know how badly we wanted to see them together.. and so now they are repaying us with 'oh yes, we see you', and ‘we will work harder for you’. They are very humbled and grateful. They see us and they feel the love we have for them.

 

Which leads me to my fourth and final point -- now is not the time to ~abandon ship~ and letting all of this, losing your fingerprint included, go to waste just because some people thought they came off as 'cold and awkward'. Please don't get me wrong, everyone's thoughts and emotions are valid. I was one with all of you in hoping we get something as small as sweet interactions / 'couple-y things' during Baeksang, to something as big as a long overdue confirmation and announcement from our OTP after. I would be kidding my delulu self if I didn't think of those. But the rational me also managed my own expectations of how they, as individuals / professional actors will be before, during, and after BAA. And of course, they did not fall short of my expectations. What with COVID and social distancing in place, they definitely knew their place and acted the way as they should. Simply put, they arrived, stayed, and left professionally. And the way they carried themselves from start to finish made me respect them even more. (Also, I want to give both Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin a big hug just cause!)

 

Now that that has been said, let me focus on the BinJin Couple aspect this time. Of course, our OTP also made sure their fans were well-fed. It may not have been the buffet we were expecting, but we know deep down it was just the right amount of fullness, probably enough for us to last until the next time we'll see them together again.

 

Those glances-- Hyun Bin to the left, Son Ye Jin to right. The smiles and those laughs. Those in-sync claps.

 

That precious 29 seconds for them to get up on stage, giving them more airtime (and us more BinJin time). From them looking at each other just seconds apart, to standing up, to him waiting for her to go first and letting her take the lead-- extra pogi (handsome) points for our Hyun Bin right there! To making sure he walks just close enough to catch her in case she trips over those darn wires. To those guided steps going up the stage. Up to the most crucial moment: THAT QUICK PEEK AND THAT SMALL SMILE (which, btw, was probably seen by everyone inside Kintex through that screen behind them). To the way they made their acceptance speech and interview all about CLOY and us, their fans, and not about them, the way they both used "we" in their speeches, I -- 

 

NOW THAT'S HOW YOU DO FAN SERVICE.

 

While all eyes are on you, while the whole world is watching, while everyone is waiting/anticipating for you to make the slightest mistake and/or a slip up to happen that might just put the rumors on overdrive once again. This was how it was supposed to be. Subtle, cordial, classy. Now isn't this a huge win for all of us since PiFan 2014? And moreover, didn't we come a long way since A Moment To Remember Era in terms of destiny? Again, the BinJin gods definitely heard us, loud and clear. 

 

So HB may not have beaten his 19-second-staring-at-SYJ-and-only-blinking-twice world record during that night... but, uhm, yeah, good to know nothing has changed. And for that I am really, really happy and contented. I'm really grateful...wait for it-- Thank you sooooooooo much, Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin for last Friday. We love you! 

 

Side note: Going back to that part about everyone in Kintex, delulu me can't help but also think of how their colleagues think and feel about them. I'm pretty sure there are some of them who are BinJin shippers just like us! I can't take the smile off my face thinking that maybe, just maybe, their fellow actors would like to see them get married, too. Thoughts like, 'it's about time these two got together / for HB to propose / they get married' go through my head while watching them watch our OTP go up the stage. Oh, my heart. ) 

 

At this point, I guess what's left for me to say is, I don't think our HB will let whatever he has with our SYJ in the last 3 years go to waste. (Delulu me internally screaming: BINSSI, NEVER LET YEJINSSI GO!! YEJINAHHH NEVER LET BINNIE OPPA GO!! OK?!) Now, time to file BAA under BinJin receipts. 

 

Let's keep sailing, BinJin nation! If you know, you know. Don't let anyone or anything, especially the cold and awkward vibes, tell you otherwise.

I am a shipper as much as anyone here, but, yes I don't believe the van theory circulating through social media. 1) there were at least four different actors who used similar vans with the same make, in fact a majority of actors walked out of black vans. 2) The van SYJ exited out of and the one behind HB's van are completely different - see sides, see top. To me, it becomes very dangerous when social media users present information as fact. (In fact, some of these same users have the freedom to hit the delete button on any comment that goes against their theory, as I have both seen and experienced.) These theories led to the last denial. I don't mind fans researching information - verify first before it becomes other people's truth. I would love a confirmation from my two favorite dorks but I respect they want to remain focused on their careers rather than their private lives.

And for anyone who says she was not successful on tv just because they only knew her now, please refer to my previous post about her tv shows ratings statistics (attached below), all of them are above average ratings and higher with one drama peaking up to around 30.9% audience share. She is just very low-key. I think the agency does not do a lot of personal PR for YeJin but it's probably her choice as well.

 

 

When it comes to extremist fans of that "other actress" hating SYJ, we just need to step higher and be like our idol Yejin, she is low-key and humble despite her amazing achievements. I personally like her not only because she is an excellent actress but also because she is very humble, at the same time, candid and speak her mind in a nice way.

 

I believe that most of us, BINJIN fans, are not the kind who'd waste time in cheap fan wars  HYUN BIN and SON YE JIN are kindhearted, humble and decent human beings who don't put their achievements in their heads and they are  both superstars that's why they also have the best and upscale fans in the world. 

 

I also received random hate comments on my sns from those people just because I have posted great things about BINJIN. I did not even know anything about that actress they were supporting, I actually had to google her. I have liked SYJ since The Moment to Remember but I am a Kdrama late bloomer, why did they expect me to know every K actress LOL? It's so stressful to pay attention to haters, I would rather stare at Hyun Bin's dimples.

i think we do not need to overanalyze this.Binjin has given enough hints to convince us that they are already in a relationship.This reminds me of the 'Holding hands under the table' incident:shippers mindlessly spread false speculations all across social media,which resulted in Vast denial (i admit i still feel hurt because of it).I do believe that as much as we love them to be together,we should respect their privacy as well.High level of media scrutiny is unhealthy for any relationship.

YJ is considered as one of the nation's top actresses in SK. In terms of box office and awards, there are just 2 actresses on top of her, Jeon Do-yeon and Kim Hye-soo. Even acclaimed Hallyu star Jun Ji-hyun is behind YJ considering the achievements in Chungmuro.
