Synopsis:

Investigation of cross-border economic crimes. It’s loosely based on the “Sky Net Investigation 天网行动” that sent over a hundred Interpol red notices for mostly corruption crimes.

The drama covers the decade from 2006-2016 when the flow of hot money into China was at unsustainable levels, and a good chunk of the drama is adapted from real cases. Directed by Liu Xin (Age of Legends) and written by Zhao Dongling (In the Name of the Law, Red Rose)

The trailer looked so excited that i decided to watch but after watching up to 9 epis., it's still very draggy and i believe this has 44 epis.?, i guess the excitement will come near to the last few epis., I hope not .

It's getting interesting now after epi. 10, the pace is picking up, the story is developing well but i think they r portraying the women as a bit naive and helpless even as Wu Jiaqi wanted to help with the investigations there's still not much she can do about it which she's getting a bit upset and frustrated knowing that the 'bad guys' r getting away with their schemes, as if there's no point with joining the force either.

 

Idk but i always like to see Wang Kai as a cop, he's so dashing and tough and i also like to watch Liu Yi Jun in any dramas altho he's always typecast as a villain most of the time, it suits him very well haha. but honestly i think he's a great actor.

 

Hope this will keep getting better, I'm getting bored with life having to stay home most of the time.

Me too @jewelsc He is a great villain. He plays it is so well and very good at pretending to be a good man as well. I am on episode 4 now. I am going to binge watch the rest will come back to comment some more. 
 

@angelangie I am enjoying this drama. I lost interest of Wang Kai historical drama. This is one is more my taste.

Xiaohui is a typical girl with dreams but not street smart. I could already see she was going to befriend Xiaoqiang. I don’t understand why she found him to be so charismatic but a weasel he was. The moment I saw him, I knew he was bad news. 

Wang Bolin is so clever and a good schemer. He uses people to get what he wants. He doesn’t care about people but only himself.

I have finally reached episode 10 and I have to admit the first ten episodes was so slow but it was worth it. Thank recommend this drama. 
 

@jewelsc Wu Jiqia is inexperienced and impulsive. She says she went through the training but seems to forget the basic training. Going to a crime scene without being invited, needing evidence over instinct. ( I AM NOT BAD MOUTHING HER BUT STATING FACTS)  I do like her character and hope she tones it down and try to follow procedures. Sure these procedures are annoying but it is the only way you can win a case. 
i agree with you the female character are so dumb. For example Xiaohui is very dumb and so is Jianqiu. She accepts help from from that shady guy ( can’t remember his name so upsetting) Xiaohui is feeling lonely and can’t talk to her boyfriend because he is a cop but she knew what she was doing was wrong but yet can’t accept that she should take the responsibility. Here she is using the Teache Hao’s words as her own. Her Fiancée knows she would never use that kind of word. He even tried to warn her about it but she gets mad. 

@jewelsc are they trying to have them fall in love because “  “ supposedly they like the same poem or both have dream when he is the one brainwashed her to think this is her dream.  Smh smh how much more gullible does she have to be. She hears hears that her boss is getting paid. Shouldn’t that make her a bit suspicious. 
 

This guy is even using his friend and spying on him when they are on the same boat. Hi he Bank manager has told him facts that are truth and can protect them both but he refuses to listen. I can’t wait for him to realize that he is dispensable and no one will be able to help him. 
Jianqiu Directong Yang’s sister is truly dumb. Accepting a job where she doesn’t know anything. She doesn’t even know what Stocks is and let him use her name to buy stock because he is greedy. He is using her to get her hands dirty to tie her brother’s hand if he ever investigate his bank. She never once found it suspicious to be being helped so often. No one wants to socialize with her and she is okay with it. If only she would be a bit street smart , I fear she is going to be ruined by all this now. Believing every word out of this guy’s mouth seems so dumb. 
 

It took me a long time to like Director Yang. It seems he is really out for Justice but I kinda feel bad for him. I am sure his wife love him but she is truly a spoil rich girl and he spoils her. I hate when woman marry a man but dislike where he came from and his family. The way they treated Jianqiu was so horrible and I can see that when his sister isn’t there he is probably the one who does the dishes. It really disgusts me too see such treatment for when a average person marry a person front he upper class .  Smh smh smh

Wu Jiqia is now accepting the fact that evidence is the main point to catch these criminals so she's even more diligent.

 

As for Xiao Hui and Jianqiu, i'm like OMG!!, whenever it comes to these girls' stories, i felt like i wanna tear my screen open and strangle them for their idiocy ..and due to Jianqiu's action, she has created her brother's future to 'gone to the devil' with him being a decent and honest cop destroyed by her (naivety) just so that she and their parents can live a comfortable life..and now he's feeling so guilty knowing the consequences his action can caused and also realizing that Xia Yuan is probably suspecting him already..as for his wife, i'm sure she will get her 'just deserts'.

@jewelsc you are very patient.  Because, right from ep 1, I already find Jianqiu so naive and irritating.  Xiao Hui too, from the moment she accepted her new job and started to change.  How could she waited for Hao Xiao Qiang (the Stock Analyst) until so late, and until they were both alone in the big office.  There is always a possibility that she could be raped, you know.

 

One thing I don't like about dramas, is that they always play on "co-incidence".  It is such an irrational co-incidence that Xiao Hui joins a Securities company, and Jianqiu, a bank.  Both where the bad guys are.

 

Second, why can't the guys explain the real situation to their female family members?  Yang Jian Qun to his naive sister;  Xia Yuan (Wang Kai) to his fiancee Xiao Hui and Bank Manager Sun to his wife.  Why must they always think that - not telling them is protecting them?

 

@UnniSarah Thank you so much for your warm welcome!   I'm currently at ep 7. (Let me get to ep 10.  Then I can actively exchange opinions with you all).  You are right.  Up to now, it is quite slow, but nevertheless still engrossing.  You can see they are laying out the plots and preparing us for the upcoming tempo.  Some dramas are slow without essence.  So we'll just give up on them.  But not this one

 

Another thing.  Remembering all the names and who is who, is quite a challenge here

I suppose it would be some kind of a 'breach' of an on-going investigation if they say anything? But for them to keep telling them 'it's to protect them' is like telling a 2 y.o not to stick their finger into an electrical socket without an explanation obviously they'd be curious haha.

 

Dramas r all about co-incidence, that's y they r dramas ..it's just a matter of how they're played out.  I hope these girls will 'redeem' themselves by at least let there be some kind of a twist where they actually got the 'smarts' to help defeat these schemers especially Jianqiu. 

 

As with Xiao Hui, tbh, i never liked the 'relationship' she and Xia Yuan had, looked fake, i preferred to see him with Wu Jiqia, i like their interactions especially the first time they met haha., for all i care Xiao Hui can continue with her ways with this Hao Xiao Qiang.

Hi jewelsc, I'm at ep 14 today.  getting serious

 

1) I love Yang Jian Qun's acting:  handles his boss well, steady in character, caring husband, protective brother, understanding boss. Even comical at times

2) Yang Jian Qiu:  I have no sympathy for this woman.  She got what's coming.  She is a real country bumpkin and should have stayed with her parents in the countryside.  When she made some money, the first thing she does is spend: buy gifts, change into a luxurious apartment.  (Honestly her brother should have got her out of the bank at once then.  As for ep 14, if I were Jian Qun, I would have her surrender to the police and learn a lesson the hard way.  Rather then making it worse by taking it upon himself.  That is why I said when it is time to explain a situation, explain.  But then we would not have a Drama right?)

 

3) Xiao Hui: What has Prof Zhao's dream got to do with her?  I'm glad the photo-shoot is called-off.  They will not marry each other. I'm glad.  Guess they have been with each other for too long, making it a case of "Familiarity Breeds Contempt".  She is better off with Prof Zhao, i.e. if he wants her

I found them both irritating. Jianqiu is mVERY NAIVE  and she is selfish. She allows her brother to feel guilty for not lettting her get the chance of finishing her education but tbh , without an education ( SHE WILL STILL BE MANIPULATED). She knows what she is doing is wring but because her manager said it is okay. She would rather trust him over her own brother. 
 

Xiao Hui is the type of girl that is so spoiled, she believes she is smarter than other people. What she doesn’t realize is that they spoile her because she is so naive. Once she find someone saying she is wrong, she want nothing to do with them. She is also smarter than Jianqiu but she wanted to learn her lesson the hard way because of her “” DREAMS”. She ends up being used  and has ruined herself completely now.

I found one thing that wa funny, HXQ wants to pretend that he is a smart man and what he is doing is RIGHT, when the law comes for them, will the law agree. When you hurt thousands of people because you have dream to accomplish is it RIGHT OR WRONG??

Xiao Hui breaking up with boyfriend was the right choice. Her word was so meaningful ans raw. It proved she didn’t deserve him . She knew it. Her attraction toward the Professor is what really got her in this mess.

She believes she has never made any decisions for herself.  She feels she needs to make her own DECISIONS. Doesn’t she mean Professor Hao’s Dreams.  She has been brainwashed to thinking these are her own dreams.
Professor Hao Dreams became her own 

 She feels being protected is “Opression” if you were to rewatch the episode when Xia Yuan almost beat Professor Hao, he told Xia Yuan that he doesn’t know Xiaohui. I think Xia Yuan knows his girlfriend best . He knew she was not street smart , never had had any dreams of her own and now she found a guy who is shiny, smart and tall a sweetly to her about stuff that are to high to obtain is easily gained if she was to cheat people who are only greedy.

Hi @UnniSarah.   Glad to have you back. You are right.  Prof Hao is too Egostic.  He thinks he is so unique and intelligent.  That he is so smart to use other people's money to fund his "Dreams" (ambitious projects).  He thinks he can outsmart Wang Bo Lin. The same way that people think they can "outsmart" the Casino or Gambling.  The same way that people think they can "outsmart" the Stock Markets.  But in the end, they always get outsmarted instead.

 

Wang Bo Lin is someone who thinks that Money is King.  And there are a lot of people like him amongst us.  In the end, living within our means is still the best. It gives us "Peace of Mind".

 

Yang Jian Qun is silly to over-protect his sister.  He has been in the police force for 20years. But I must say he isn't very smart in handling adversed situations.  When he discovered Wang Bo Lin's men in the bank, he should have removed his sister from there at once. Not doing so, is only inviting disasters to happen.  And they did.  In the end he will get himself destroyed.  I'm sorry to say, he has no one to blame but himself.  

 

This drama is on a steady pace all through.  But as I've said before, it is still engrossing.  I just finished ep 34.   But I will not give you spoilers.  Lest they take away your eventual excitements.  Which ep are you on dear?

i agree Direct Yang will destroy his career but from the ending credits It looks like he doesn’t get fired and remains a cop even in the end. I love the way  how their relationship is progressing at a good pace. Director Yang’s parents and sister are so afraid Tao Tao’s mom. Tao Tao’s mom is so disgusting and O dislike her so much.
