The show is no longer billed as having any association to SSSS, not that the story ever has any relationship with the series to begin with, other than having the same director and production company. The feedback from viewers hasn’t been good. The first 2 episodes fail to grab my interest so don’t think I will continue.

I love this drama! Mild complaints here and there, but nothing big. Since it’s an original story, it makes me guessing each episode. Love that! And wow.. you guys really are fast, how are you on ep 20ish already? I’m still stuck on ep 4, waiting on full subs for the next episodes.

Just binge watch all 20 episodes and gonna watch two more tonight. With my limited Chinese, I can only roughly guess what they are saying. The male lead is actually quite good looking. He is like Johnny Depp. If u watch him in other dramas..he does look dashing..however..in this drama..the way they did his hair, makes him look older. I am still undecided on his character as the God of War. I like the storyline so far and NiNi is so pretty in this. Love her dresses. Also..can anyone tell me..her changes to a some sort of peabird..but in the trailer..she is a phoenix?

On episode 7 now but my Chinese is not up to par, I am missing the nuances I believe but the overall story is easy to follow. NiNi is supposed to be a phoenix fairy(?), saw a short clip of her having fire wings. But she looks more like a tiny peacock or pheasant. Does anyone have a link to someone explaining the episodes? I could only find it for the first one...

 

Could not wait for the English sub as NiNi is my favourite Chinese actress and I was psyched for this

Just watch episode 3 and i’m liking it so far. Finally a male lead that looks handsome and mature, not just a pretty boy. This is the first time i watch both leads and i like them. Hoping they’ll continue to sub it and not taking it too long, cause i think i’m hooked

No ratings, it's a web drama. I think it's 3rd or 2nd on the popular rank for iQiyi. But that's one site, and the popular Chang'an, the Untamed and Novoland are on other platform. 1st is Go Go Squid which is across three platform and two tv channels.

 

The douban rating have been rising, but that's not saying much, since its fans and regular audience have been doubtful about the casting and cliche story before it started, so it opened at 5.5?, but I think it's up to 6 now. For reference, the other xianxia are in the range of 6ish, and Ashes of Love range from low 7 while airing to ending with 7.7. Overall I think it's doing better than initially feared, I hope it keeps up and doesn't drag or bomb its plot like plenty of other dramas have.

I really liked this drama. I watched it because I liked Ni Ni very much, but I still feel that the story is quite good. Fortunately, there is a stable VPN that I didn't drop it.

I am really loving this drama got hooked from the first episode which wasn't in the case with eternal love( as I see people are comparing it )lol I  really don't enjoy dramas where woman disguises as a man that's why it took few episodes for me to get in. Anyway the lead guy Chang chen is so charming perfectly fits in the character of "God of war" and Nini is doing a great job too. Really looking forward to upcoming episodes

Poor God of War is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Ling Xi was affected by the demonic spirit because she was at the wrong place and the wrong time as a baby. 

 

It is so funny when Jiu Chen wanted to relinquish his position to the God of Thunder but before he could do that, Jiu Chen excused himself to save Ling Xi. The poor God of Thunder looked so disappointed.

 

It is so cute that Jiu Chen cannot seemed to refuse Ling Xi anything. She seemed to be collecting "pets". I believe if that big monster did not die, Jiu Chen will find it in his home too.

I think it should've been updated to current when it started to air, but have no idea how to go about it..

Have seen sub up to ep 5 and raw up to ep 24 because simply couldn't resist!

 

The drama really managed to drag me in with it's story, visuals and of course, the cast. I love it! 

 

Now with ep 24 we know that

Jiu Chen's plan to save Ling Xi from her fate of awakening the demon king was to kill her so then he could revive her and get her to be reborn.

Not a bad plan...except he probably should've told her.

 

And I do wonder if it'll truly work and she'll no longer be seen as a threat by the immortals. Because when she was reborn she retained her lost hearing...so what if she also retained the evil miasma she got from the demon king? hmmmm

 

Also, from the trailers, she'll obviously will return to heaven and somehow end up taking her mother's place as the queen/princess of the demonic tribe. Won't that be interesting...the god of war and the demon queen XD

I believe it will not look realistic if she knew before hand. I do not think anyone will stand still knowing someone will kill her but it all for a good cause. He is the God of War and I think he does not do explanation for his actions

Actually Jiu Chen did tell her about his plan but not all of the detail. Only she couldn't hear his words so she thought he abandoned her and get dispirited.  Hence his plan didn’t work out as intended.  He also can't tell her all of the detail due to serious consequences.

Her mother is not a demon queen, they're San Ling Clan that has no relationship to the demon king.  They're also just happen to be located near the demon king.
