My Review of the Final Episode

 

At first watch, I found the final episode rather straightforward. After weeks of theorizing and figuring things out in the complicated parallel worlds, I guess I was expecting something more epic. But upon rewatch, it all changed. Apparently, mathematics played a big part on the ending (see here).

Tae Eul eventually brought Lee Rim to the gate by herself, leaving Shin Jae behind. When I saw her with the gun, I had doubts that it would work inside the world-in-between, since Lee Rim's gun didn't work when time stopped in a previous episode.

I have respects for Jo Young, indeed the Unbreakable Sword. He'll do anything to protect the King, even it goes against the King's wishes.

I'm so glad that we finally see Lee Gon's fine shooting skills! Having survived a shootout while he was a kid, he should at least learn how to shoot a gun to protect himself.
 

 

So when Lee Gon caught up with Lee Rim at the forest, I thought we are headed to a quick resolution, that it would finally be the end of Lee Rim. And indeed, it was a swift beheading by the King.

I admire Tae Eul's belief in the impossible. Just as she believed that the seeds she planted would grow, she also believed that she could shoot Lee Rim with the gun. And just as the moment the seed grows, in the lifeless place of the world-in-between, wind suddenly blows through her hair and the gun fires and kills Lee Rim.

With the death of Lee Rim and the Manpasikjeok saved, the balance in the parallel worlds is restored. But that entails a reset of everything, from the night of treason.

Prince Buyeong saves the lives of Kang Hyeon Min and his mom. He grows up to be a police officer in the kingdom.

Luna meets the family of Koo Seo Ryeong, and they become her adoptive family. While she grows up as Koo Seo Gyeong, a police officer in the kingdom, her adoptive sister, Seo Ryeong, instead of a prime minister, grows up into an assemblywoman who gets jailed for stealing tax money. As Seo Ryeong bickers with her sister, she does, too, with her correctional officer, who, in the previous timeline, was her trusted assistant.

In this timeline in the kingdom, Kang Hyeon Nim gets a fair chance of having a relationship with Seo Gyeong/Luna. And it turns out that she was the one in the cctv footage dated May 27, 2022 that Lee Gon mysteriously saw.

Since the reset, things have unfolded differently in the parallel worlds. Tae Eul still gets to arrest the one who killed her roommate in the previous timeline, but in this one, there is no Kang Shin Jae by her side (but Jang Mi is! ).

In this timeline, Lee Ji Hun is alive. But as expected, he is not aware of Tae Eul.

Kang Shin Jae is also alive and well in this world, thanks to his short chat with Lee Gon which saved him from the accident. He grows up to be a chaebol, and Lee Gon is rather pleased to see him doing well.

Prime Minister Mo and her son is adorable! Lee Gon still values PM Mo's work, as he prefers her to report in person every week. And he doesn't mind telling her son his name, which should not be called.

Amidst the reset of the parallel worlds, it appears that the time-travellers Lee Gon, Jo Young, and Tae Eul retained their memories.

 

True to his promise, Lee Gon searched every universe for Tae Eul. Meanwhile, as she patiently waits for his return, she finally gets the call and rushes home (gives the LOTBS feels somehow). And after that long agony, the Lee Eul couple is finally together. As the new worlds flowed differently, he expects that she has forgotten him, but at this point, he's still not aware that it was her who took Lee Rim to the gate the day they went back to the night of treason, and not Kang Shin Jae.

They have their fun adventures on the weekends, as they cross different universes. A rather heartwarming scene when she meets Prince Buyeong, and a funny one when she unexpectedly meets Lady Noh. Lady Noh with her talismans is thrilled.

With the balance of the parallel worlds restored, Lee Gon and Tae Eul choose to have amazing, secret rendezvous on the weekends, doing things they have never done. In accepting this arrangement, they have loved the fate that has chosen them, and with this, they have found a beautiful solution.

I guess I misunderstood you on your first post. 

 

I have nothing against LJH but at the same time don't feel like his necessary in a potential second season don't get me wrong I don't have anything against the character just don't see how he would fit into all of this and the plot-line and on top of that his just a regular joe not royal and unfortunately he would end up as the third wheel of all third wheels but if he is a comedic character then he would make sense

I have seen someone mentioned and posted videos about the time-travel of TKEM being like the time-travel of X-men. I had the chance to rewatch Days of future past last night. 

 

and I quite surprisingly tend to agree and it's almost the same except on small difference such as the method of the time-travel.

Kitty and Rogue help using their powers to send back Wolverine 50 years to alter time. He landed in 1973 and managed to change history by altering a significiant part like the sentinel program that ruined the mutants and destroyed them in 2023 and they couldn't win over the sentinel program and basically doomed while their only chance was to travel back and kill the inventor of the sentinel programs. 

 

Long story short. 

 

Wolverine managed to change history by altering time he wakes up in 2023 and remembers a timeline nobody remembers except him and he doesn't remember the new timeline. Something similar happened here where LG and JTE remember a previous timeline but not this timeline and you could tell by JTE calling her boss asking about SJ when she wakes up at the entrance of the portal. It took them probably sometime to get the remembers of this timeline set in with their older non-existent timeline now
