Things are going to get very interesting Lee Jung Jin became famous since the drama "Love story in Harvard", after that he starred in "9 end 2 outs" very well. In 2013, LJJ also played in the drama " A Hundred Year Inheritance" with Engene, the film on topic of family, humor, romance. But the scenes of those battles looks so great. How those Japanese insisted to keep speeding up and crossing the Corean sea and how the king deals with it. Bad editing again. The battle scenes should have come before TE's narrative, not after. I could feel the disconnect when in narrative TE said she waited for a long time (which made me feel weeks or months had passed from the day she left). But come the next scene, we were brought back to the day she left - the sea battle! 2
graceyco
I am anticipating new stills for Ep 7 and 8 and my good friend reminded me of these scenes that were in the 5minute trailer. I wonder when are we getting them? I mean... JTE grabbed LG's hands...I'm okay... -- Also, we were discussing earlier that the seeds planted by JTE in the world between 1 and 0 could possibly be the tree at the beginning of the title sequence? I'm not sure if that has been brought up but if so... my mind is blown at the possibility! src Spoiler 6 5

In Shinjae, thank goodness he failed. 3

bebebisous33
This is what I found about the Dragon King of the East Sea. folktale rabbit and Dragon King (page 367 ff.) I find it quite interesting that the writer mentioned the King Sinmum and the Silla dynasty because the folktale about the rabbit and the Dragon king is connected to him as well. What caught my attention is that the rabbit is here quite clever, although he is manipulated by the turtle. On the other hand, the Dragon King, although powerful, is quite stupid. We have a lot of fables, where the rabbit is not described as an innocent and selfless animal, quite the opposite, unlike the moon rabbit. I could mention the fable of the rabbit and the turtle... here the rabbit is quite arrogant and overlooks the turtle's perseverance. In other words, Luna as the white rabbit and the moon rabbit could have other qualities (cleverness, even arrogance ...) and let us not forget that LG is also associated to the white rabbit, like I wrote it before. As conclusion, I have the feeling that our writer has used a lot of tales for her story and not just Alice in Wonderland. Hence I couldn't help myself thinking of the tale: Pied Piper of Hamelin. There are some parallels between our k-drama and this folktale: We have the flute which is supposed to bring peace and protection (disease would disappear, rain would fall during drought etc...) and the pied piper used his flute in order to gather all the rats that were invading the city Hamelin. As you can see, when the flute was played, the rats disappeared from the city. So the flute did help the citizens. Yet since the pied piper wasn't paid, he decided to get revenge and played the flute. This time, all the children were influenced by the music and left Hamelin. Their parents couldn't stop them. This time, the flute brought misery and chaos. Striking is that in our k-drama, Lee Rim is partially the owner of the flute. He also seduces people from Rep. Korea to disappear from their world and asked them to kill their doppelgangers. As conclusion, Lee Lim is using the flute with a bad intention. He brings chaos and misery. I could say that he can only use the flute for some bad purpose as he only owns the half of it. On the other hand, LG received the half of the flute that is used for a good purpose (see my first point above). He brought JTE to his world with a good intention and he will have to use it in order to bring peace and protection. This leads me to the conclusion that LG will have to use the flute in order to bring the rats (the citizens from Rep. Korea who were addicted to gambling, poor and ruthless) away from his country. Our protagonist LG should be perceived as the pied piper in the first phase. @YongZura⁷ @ktcjdrama@sassylove 7

ElleSor
ok, so hear me out on this. Is there any possibility that Shin Jae is Lee Gon in the other world? I've wondered why Shin Jae is being built up so much when he's just the high school friend. JTE doesn't even have romantic feelings for him so why the build up? 4
Popular Post syntyche
My Review and Theories on Episode 6 First of all, I would like to commend us viewers who chose to stay with this drama, and chose to take on the challenge of understanding and appreciating this rather intricate but satisfying creation of the team behind "The King." From the perspective of the prime minister, it looks like her assistant deserves a raise, with all those insider information that he supplies her. But from the perspective of Team Tae Eul, he needs to get fired! Spoiler As I mentioned in my review of the previous episode, the official character profile describes Lee Gon as one who has only laughed in front of Jo Young. So the prime minister seeing Lee Gon smile because of a new girl must have really annoyed her. Especially that we see some flashback on her unreciprocated smiles for the king. Spoiler I'm actually relieved that Lee Gon does not hide his fondness/relationship with Tae Eul from the people close to him, despite the security risk and yup, their reaction to their cheesiness. Spoiler It's interesting how Tae Eul noticed the moon during their flight. Moon is "Luna" in Latin, which coincidentally is the name of her doppelganger. And yet another possible clue is dropped when she mentions the myth about rabbits living on the moon (which should send us reading up on that myth). Didn't Luna wear a rabbit costume when Lee Gon chased her? Ahh that "forehead kiss". I think I was staring too long at the official photos released on it, that I found that kiss on the episode itself rather fleeting. Spoiler In my review of episode 3, I elaborated on how Lee Gon regarded Tae Eul as the powerful zero who could let him escape from the metaphorical root symbol. As it turns out, that metaphorical root symbol, the hell he is trying to escape from, is the history that was engraved on his body (scar on neck) by the greed of the person that killed his father and strangled him. So he believes that she is the key for him to finally escape from that dark past. Apparently, Shin Jae's bully is the naval officer that was revealed in a previous episode. Seeing all these backstories on Shin Jae makes me think that he is bound to take on a huge role that we are yet to see. Spoiler Lee Gon describes his savior the night his father was killed as either the beginning or end of all this. Spoiler I have to give it to the prime minister. She knows her job well and stands her ground. At least for this instance, she works in harmony with the king. Spoiler So I have this theory about the lost ID. I think Lee Gon took it secretly. See his unfazed look when Lady Noh mentions it. When I was watching the first episode, I already wondered how his savior got a hold of Tae Eul's ID in the first place, when clearly, it's not his. So this might be the answer to that question. Lee Gon is a smart guy. He is convinced of the existence of parallel worlds. Meanwhile, the ID that he has been holding on for 25 years is yet to be issued in the future, as indicated by the date "11.11.2019." So he must also be aware of the possibility of time travel. Something must have happened in the future (beyond 11.11.2019), that prompted his savior to go back to 1994 to keep young Lee Gon alive. And that is the beginning of the time loop. As Lee Gon just said, his savior is the beginning of all this. Whatever happened in the future, Lee Gon is in the best interest to keep his younger self alive, thus Lee Gon is most likely the savior. The ID and the date on it are not mere loose details, but were intentionally "handed" out to young Lee Gon to guide him to the path that he is supposed to take in the future. As Commander-in-Chief Lee Gon tells Lady Noh, "somehow I feel that everything that is happening now was meant to be and they were set in motion 25 years ago." So why take the ID secretly? He later tells Lady Noh, "I'm not telling you the stories in detail not because I want to hide it but because I don't know yet." Spoiler "I thought my name was not supposed to be called, but I guess it was supposed to be called only by you." I think this is the best line a king could ever tell his loved one. Spoiler As we all know by now, we should keep our eyes even on the littlest details in this drama. So I think this battle against Japan is all part of something even greater - Lee Rim's grand plan perhaps? And such a great way to showcase the courage and leadership skills of King Lee Gon. Spoiler So this is a flashback when Lee Gon saw Tae Eul off to her world. Her planting seeds in a place where there is no wind, rain, sun or time, somewhat gives a glint of hope for her and Lee Gon. I think that tree would grow and survive, and would eventually be the yellow tree that we see in the opening credits of the drama. When its teaser was first released, there was already some interest on that tree - "it may have a major role to play in the story as the short clip teases the link between the tree and the lead characters." Spoiler Aand Tae Eul is back to the kiss. As I've mentioned in my previous review, she longs for him, but is not aware of it yet, and was in a state of shock as she was whisked away to a foreign world - hence her reaction, or lack of it. She does have walls built around her, but as she processes her feelings and this parallel world phenomena, those walls would soon begin to crumble. Spoiler Finally, she figures out that the voice message she is investigating is from the other world, Corea, upon hearing Lee Jong In's name, aka Prince Buyeong, Lee Gon's uncle. There is no northern K stadium in Korea either, but in Corea, they call their regions northern and southern. So the case they're investigating is in fact part of a bigger puzzle, possibly of this parallel world phenomena. Spoiler Jo Young learns that Tae Eul has no fingerprint match in Corea. Could it be that she is in fact not from that world? He then learns that Tae Eul looks like Luna. Could it be that Luna is the one from Corea and Tae Eul is her doppelganger? Jo Young is floored (by the way, Luna is unregistered in Corea, hence no fingerprint records for her). Spoiler And then later bewildered by lover boy Lee Gon. Ahh poor Jo Young. Spoiler Uncle Buyeong confesses to Lee Gon the real cause of death of Lee Rim. As I've mentioned in my review of the first episode, Lee Rim killed and took the identity of his disabled doppelganger in Korea. He then switched bodies and dumped the disabled dead body on an ocean in Corea. As the body's fingerprints and blood type match that of Lee Rim, Lee Rim was declared dead. But Uncle Buyeong found that the dead body had poliomyelitis, or disabled at birth, and yet Lee Rim had the built of a warrior. All his speculations, however, he hid from Lee Gon. Spoiler I think Jang Mi may have noticed that Shin Jae secretly likes Tae Eul! Spoiler Oh shoot, Lee Rim is in Tae Eul's neighborhood! And apparently, he also has that fiery veins on his face just like on Lee Gon's back. This must have something to do with the flute and them crossing worlds. And lightning. Spoiler Lee Gon concludes that Lee Rim is still alive and has the key to the other world. He later deduces that he must be after the other half of the flute. In a press release of the drama, it said that to Lee Gon, Lee Rim became the enemy who killed his father, while for Lee Rim, Lee Gon became the enemy who broke the flute in two, which he wanted to possess. So it makes sense that after all this time, Lee Rim is after Lee Gon and the flute. Spoiler As we have seen in the previous episode, in order to realize his plans, Lee Rim may have been targeting those who are close to Lee Gon. And now that Tae Eul is especially close to Lee Gon's heart, his fear that he may be the one who endangers her may in fact be true. The matter further complicates as she has finally fallen for him. 15 4 2 5
rocat
The seeds JTE planted in the magical realm is the mimosa (相思花) also known as forget-me-nots. what a way to send a signal. i ve been reading the posts after watching the subbed eps and had a hard time catching up... my mind has been in a turmoil after the chaste peck, the big bear hug and most of all the nipping of the ID card from the Court Lady’s room. I enjoyed the connection made as to how the ID landed in the hands of the savior. And also how it likely isn’t JTE cos wasn’t she in Seoul? But I’ve been wrong... Deserving of credit are also the men in military uniforms , the let-me-see-your-scar discussion and the odd editing that was a test of our abilities to correctly sequence Kdrama shows on our own. I thought there are two distinct worlds here, but someone mentioned three? Hmmm..I feel like I am missing out on details and might go back and rewatch some eps as soon as real life allows. I do like the aggressive female PM. She’s annoying but politically ballsy and knows how to put the old condescending men in their place. I’d like for her to hv a good outcome too. 12

One of my favorite characters aside from two main leads, king's guard, milk tea shop owner and their alternatives. I want to know her back story, how she came up in rank from humble and less privilege background. Maybe not in this drama's 16 episodes, which shall all be about King, but a stand-alone special afterwards.
