Another anticipated drama, "The King: The Eternal Monarch," is also preparing to air in the same period. It initially started shooting in October with the aim of airing in March next year, but is eyeing the timing of next July instead, in line with its willingness to increase its level of perfection as a pre-production. This heralds the possibility of a showdown with "Secret Forest 2."

10 Biggest Korean Dramas To Look Forward To In 2020

It’s hard to believe, but we’ve already reached the end of 2019 and a new year is about to give us a bunch of new shows for us to enjoy or be mad at (for wasting our time). But let’s be positive and expect the series to be good, especially the ones we’ve been waiting for since the casting announcement. Here’s the list of the 10 biggest Korean dramas we should look forward to in 2020:

1. The King: Eternal Monarch (SBS)

Topping this list of the 10 biggest Korean dramas to look forward to in 2020 is The King: Eternal Monarch, which is written by the celebrated screenwriter Kim Eun-sook who penned the hit dramas Mr. Sunshine, Goblin, and Descendants Of The Sun. You may not like this writer’s style in general, but you can’t say no to Kim Go-eun’s (Goblin) talent nor deny the fact that even Lee Min-ho (Legend Of The Blue Sea) alone MIGHT pull in high ratings for this drama, especially because this is the actor’s first series since his discharge from the military and his fans missed him so much. The fantasy romance drama centers on an emperor (Lee) who teams up with a modern-day detective (Kim) to close a dangerous portal that connects their two parallel worlds. Also starring in the series are Woo Do-hwan (My Country: The New Age) and Jung Eun-chae (The Guest). I’m excited to see how this show will turn out considering that another director, not PD Lee Eung-bok of Sweet Home, is at the helm of its production.

Lee Min-ho is in a black sedan under staff escort. At a glance, the visuals of Lee Min-ho, who is proud of the emperor's visuals, raised expectations. In addition, Woo Do-hwan, who played the role of Cho Eun-seop, a bodyguard of Lee Min-ho (Igon), also appeared to be dressed in his clothes, raising questions about the two men's chemistry.

Lee Min Ho will appear in Kim Eun Sook's The King: The Lord of Eternity. The King: The Lord of Eternity is a co-operation of the Korean-style Korean Emperor who tries to close the door to the devil and the Korean-style Korean Detective who wants to protect someone's life, people and love. Through dramas about romance with different dimensions, Lee Min-ho and Woo Do-hwan, Kim Go-eun, and Jung Eun-chae confirmed.

In the play, Lee Min-ho played the role of Emperor Lee Gong of the Korean Empire who tries to close the door of the dimension, and is planning to match Kim Go-eun, who plays the role of the criminal detective of the Republic of Korea, who wants to protect someone's life. In addition, Kim Go-eun challenges Jung-eol and Lunaro, who live as a criminal in the Korean Empire.

Hi Everybody. Who else is ready for some Official Stills from the king?? Am i the only one? :)

I feel like they are keeping this drama/project under the Lock and key. I'm hoping by March we would see something official.

Im really bummed out the fact that they don't do any official Script reading pictures. Is this normal?

@scrawford me too ! Really hoping for it but would they normally publish the stills that soon when the air date is so far away?

I’m also still in denial that the drama will only be aired in July. I don’t think there was any official confirmation directly from SBS or the production company yet is there? Anyone knows?

Hello @SophieH and @scrawford, it's sad that we don't have any official material and airing news yet on the drama.

In a recent drama I know, the script reading news was officially released a month before its airing. And that script reading was done two months before its news release.

So kudos to us who have been and are still waiting for some official news.:P

Yeah I’m not sure. Looking at how dram works, they usually release stills 1-2 months prior airing, so maybe it’s a long shot :(.

I believe it is, unfortunately. And I didn’t watch the SBS drama awards, but assuming there are not pics on social media, means that SBS Drama awards didn’t even mentioned it as the 2020 drama highlights or something like that.

they either don’t have budget for marketing or this is part of the marketing ploy, to make this drama so awaited and it will boost ratings. Either way, I’m waiting :)
