I have a doubt, I hope someone can help. In episode 3, when LG goes to the library and reads the poem from Kim So Wol's Book, the poem is recited in an old lady's voice. The only old lady in the drama is Lady Noh. Can someone please confirm if that voice is of Lady Noh or not? If yes, I wonder why? You can see the scene at 1:07:00 in episode 3

Also in episode 4, she is shown reading the book with interest!

The narrator does sound like Lady Noh. One theory is that the poet Kim So Wol is Lady Noh's doppelganger. However, Kim So Wol existed in real life and is a he.

There is an article which discussed the tragic story behind that poem in episode 3, "Invocation of the Dead." It said that the choice of the poem in the plot of "The King" is not random, and that it is one of the most interesting keys to the drama. Let's see if it is the case in the coming episodes.

If not kiss, I would assume she would at least touch the scar. That would be such a tender moment between the two.

5 Reasons Why “The King: Eternal Monarch” Deserve To Join Your K-Drama Favorites’ List

THE KING: ETERNAL MONARCH IS DEFINITELY NOT YOUR TYPICAL ROMANCE K-DRAMA!

From its grand premiere, the series has been reeling attention owing to its high-concept plot translated to immersive portrayals by its main cast. Gliding to its projected plot; Lee Min Ho, Kim Go Eun, and Woo Do Hwan head to unravel more of the cryptic connections of the two parallel worlds.

With its spiraling momentum, the big comeback project for both writer Kim Eun Sook and Lee Min Ho has been generating online buzz. Adding to that, its stellar cast has so far fused to its ingenious plot with characters of stark contrast.

Moving towards its third week, here are five key points that drive the series’ impeccable run.

A DECISIVE HERO WHEN IT COMES TO LOVE

Right off the bat, the charismatic hero of the story, Lee Gon, expressed attachment to his love interest, portrayed by Kim Go Eun. His cheeky and mushy remarks plus stolen and direct warm gazes to Jung Tae Eul draw swoon-worthy moments for fans who has so far enjoyed their sweet bickering.

Adorably and openly smitten by Jung Tae Eul, he throws knee-weakening lines like: “It’s not that I didn’t know how to go back, I just didn’t want to go.” And, where else can viewers go if the handsome hero is vocally sweet like this?

A SWEET SWERVE FROM THE USUAL HEROINE

Likewise, Kim Go Eun decorates her new role with dauntless attitude. She deviates from the typical K-drama female lead who is cheerful and optimistic despite many hardships.

Growing up she preferred watching detective shows and her interest leans more on learning new combat techniques than playing dolls. She is definitely no damsel in distress.

She made us swoon when she revealed why she became a detective. “Not everyone can be brave, so I decided to be brave.” She’s a real girl crush character, no doubt about it!

A CONCOCTION OF FANTASY ROMANCE + SCI-FI

Giving a healthy dose of romantic premise, The King: Eternal Monarch not only treats with saccharine moments and humor, its fantasy layer gravitates with the concept of parallel worlds and a magical item that enables the main hero and villain to cross another dimension.

Appearing as a modern day fairytale, with Lee Min Ho all dapper riding on an equally handsome horse, viewers will find it hard to evade his irresistible charm. Mix in a heroine like Kim Go Eun who does not need a knight-in-a-shining-armor makes the love story even more interesting.

Aside from that, details about the Republic of Korea and Kingdom of Corea are introduced by Lee Gon, brushing on interesting points about Korean history.

TWO SIDES TO EVERY CHARACTER

It’s a double delight for each character in The King: Eternal Monarch! Owing to the premise of parallel worlds, there is a counterpart of everyone in each world. Thus, further challenging the actors who get two different characters to portray.

While we have yet to see everyone’s other version, Woo Do Hwan shines in the spotlight. We get the best of both worlds with his portrayal of stoic, steadfast Jo Yeong and playful, cute Jo Eun Seop. In both roles, his chemistry with Lee Min-ho stands out as the bromance brings much amusement to the audience.

A WELL-DEFINED STORY TRAJECTORY

Swiftly moving, writer Kim Eun Sook utilizes her signature storytelling by laying a polished groundwork for her story to expand on. Her meticulous weaving of the complex scenarios in both worlds is well-captured by the camera lens of Directors Baek Sang Hoon and Jeong Jee Hyun.

There’s more adventure and romance up ahead for our duo. So don’t miss out because the story is just getting started!

Why focus on a boy with no identity? Such a scene could have been directed without the boy. JTE could have grabbed her keys out of her pocket and accidentally dropped the ID by herself. So it’s certainly possible the boy was included for a reason.

I love how this drama makes us think. I’m certain we’re not just reading too deep into the show, everything is definitely placed there for a reason.

YESS,  That's my point too! Why wasting two minutes long scene for a role if that doesn't mean anything rights? :)

Kid playing yo-yo in front of a bookstore-----Woman who looks like the Palace maid spy comes and goes into bookstore, side eyes the kid-----Lee Rim said that Salt farm henchman's doppelganger runs a bookstore in Korea----Lee Rim gets the King's whereabouts through a book in a bookstore------Yo-yo kid runs into JTE in Korea to make her loose badge----Lee Gon gets shoulder burns and crosses over to Korea.

Yoyo scene is very mysterious for me, because they zoom in and focus how the child hand grab the Yoyo and it seems like Hey, actually everything is in the control of my hand! :D

But, of course, we will get the answer in the future episodes!

Lee Min-ho and Lee Jung-jin's "The King," narratives - Emperor vs. Rebellion in full swing

In "The King-Eternal Monarch," the first to fourth episodes of Lee Gon vs. Lee Rim from the perspective of Lee Min-ho and Lee Jung-jin were released.

SBS' Friday-Saturday drama "The King" (written by Kim Eun-sook/directed by Baek Sang-hoon, produced by Jung Ji-hyun/produced by Hwa & Dam Pictures), which first aired on the 17th (Friday), is unraveling an interesting story about the parallel worlds: the Korean Empire and the Republic of Korea. Lee Min-ho and Lee Jung-jin are performing enthusiastically, playing the role of Lee Gon, the third emperor of the Korean Empire, and Lee Rim, the traitor who attempted treason in the Korean Empire.

In the fourth episode, Lee Gon and Lee Rim each realized that their opponent could cross the parallel world, signaling more revenge and confrontation against each other. In a related development, three Lee Gon and Lee Rim's extreme confrontation points that caused goosebumps in the first to fourth episodes of "The King" are summarized.

#1 Night of Treason: The enemy who killed his father vs. the enemy who broke the Manpasikjeok in two

The extreme confrontation between Lee Gon and Lee Rim in "The King" began with the night of treason. Lee Rim is the first son, but was removed from the line of succession when he was 13 years old for being a bastard. Lee Gon's father, Sun Hwang-je (Kwon Yul), eventually became emperor and had possession of the Manpasikjeok (flute). Captured by black desire, Lee Rim stabbed the emperor brutally, and the eight-year-old child Lee Gon, who saw it, fought bravely against him, breaking the Manpasikjeok in two. As a result, Lee Rim, who was running away with half of the Manpasikjeok, reached the Great Forest, and the door of dimension opened to the parallel world. After that day, to Lee Gon, Lee Rim became the enemy who killed his father, while for Lee Rim, Lee Gon became the enemy who broke the Manpasikjeok in two, which he wanted to possess.

#2 Confidence of Moving to the Parallel World : Going full-fledged vs 'Time Stopping' phenomenon

Lee Gon came to the parallel world of the Republic of Korea through the door of dimension in the Great Forest. But when he came back there with Jung Tae-eul (Kim Go-eun) empty-handed, nothing happened and so he found out that the Manpasikjeok is the key to cross the parallel world. And Lee Rim, who has the other half, was sure to have crossed the parallel world like himself. At the same time, Lee Rim noticed that time had stopped in his studio at the Republic of Korea, and again it stopped at the beach where the imperial palace of the Korean Empire could be seen. Lee Rim then assumed that Lee Gon also crossed the two worlds after finding out through two notes left in a bookstore run by his subordinate Gyeong-mu (Lee Hae-young), which said, "Emperor left the  Palace,"  and "Emperor returned to the Palace." He concluded that the time-stopping phenomenon in the Republic of Korea and the Korean Empire was related to the emperor crossing the door of dimension. Attention is being paid to the steps the two will take in the future after becoming convinced that their opponents are crossing the parallel world.

#3 Lee Rim's Body Inspection in the Korean Empire' : Multiple Signs vs. Signs of Evilness

Lee Gon was convinced that Lee Rim, who has crossed the parallel world like himself, and who had been found dead, would still be alive. In response, he visited Lee Jong-in (Jeon Moo-song), who did the autopsy of Lee Rim's body 25 years ago, to ask for the truth. On the other hand, back in 1994 in the Republic of Korea, Lee Rim met a poor, humble man who was sitting in a wheelchair unable to walk, broke his neck and killed him. As a result, questions are mounting over whether Lee Jong-in, who manipulated the autopsy  25 years ago to protect the safety of the royal family, will be able to tell the truth again.

"Lee Min-ho and Lee Jung-jin are completing the Lee Gon and Lee Rim characters by expressing their meticulousness and charisma with heavy acting," the production company Hwa & Dam Pictures said. "We hope this week's show will confirm the fate of the two people, Lee Rim, who noticed Lee Gon crossing the parallel world, and Lee Gon, who expressed his intention to re-investigate the death of Lee Rim."

Meanwhile, the fifth episode of SBS' "The King," which consists of a total of 16 episodes, will air at 10 p.m. on May 1 (Friday).
