Two good things for him.

First,  He has finished his army sevice in early 20s, so no army break to ruin his momentum  now. He played roles in small dramas but this drama is now his entry in big league officially.

Second female lead and our kim soo hyun copy ( just kidding ) north korean soldier , both have also bagged lead roles

So a lead role is coming for him too.

Cloy's  success is as important for these actors who are not huge stars like our king and queen but such project open doors for these actors and i hope they get the best out of their career after cloy. Working with such big studio for this drama is new road of opportunities  for him now. With such massive success, he will get better offers. Happy for him

Did any of you watch School 2017? He was the lead male in that drama. he was also a lead role in another drama, but dropped out. This was right before CLOY which is his return.

I dont want to judge people for their taste but how can a series like Goblin has better storyline? the entire thing was over the top and unreal. CLOY started over the top but then the writers truly created something that became real and believable, at times even too believable like the fake NK village, everything seemed so real, like this place really exists somewhere. The characters also looked so real and natural. The main cast is not only perfect but the supporting cast shined just as bright. You can say whatever you want about this show but the entire team worked hard to create a really solid piece of art, period. It will also redefine Kdramas in the future because many Kdramas were becoming ridiculous quick money grab, like we barely see a plot and they only exist to advertise for big companies but i get a feeling with CLOY many creators will now step up and be inspired by this show to create better plotlines for their series.

I notice they werent wearing their couple ring when they met again in switzerland after se-ri paraglided.. i may have missed any discussion, any theories on this? I doubt the director may have missed this on purpose..

The ring idea might have come afterwards. I heard in Switzerland, they were supposed to reunite and eventually settle in SK [?] where they get married and have twins. The marriage and twins scene was deleted. I think the marriage would have happened in SK because they said YSR was going to be in a hanbok (traditional korean clothes?). That's probably why no ring in Switzerland scenes.

Some sites choose to post only articles with negative comments, they are not the general consensus at all.  There are many positive reactions (translated at Ddoboja).

I'm sorry but ddoboja has mentioned on the post that the translation cannot be take out of the blog without permission... So maybe, share the link it's better.. Do not post the entire translation...

Who catch the SITR parody by SR when she was dancing in her office???

btw ManBok’ s new job. I didn’t watch Yoo Ji Tae movie, so the first thought I have was Eric’s role in Oh Hae Young again (TVN series too). He has the same feel, and the same hairdo and same dressing too LOL

Yess.. It's the same job with Eric on Oh Haeyoung.. And he's working at 427 Film Studio lol I'm cackling... That number refers to Kim Ilsung's bday iirc

I have a question about the time line.

1) HB & SYJ first met in Switzerland until they first met in North Korea. How many years apart?

2) SYJ stays in NK for how many years?

3) HB went to SK after how many years SJY left NK?

1. Around 7 years? Because after that, his brother died and he had to return to NK.

2. It was just around one month.

3. Just weeks... Because he was still at the front line when CK called him that he's going South to kidnap Seri...

==========================

Gaahhh I'm missing this drama and its character already ㅠㅠ

I really love the Switzerland pictures the ones that were not aired. They look happy together and so much in love. Really wondering whether they are really just friends or really great actors? They had these pictures taken before intensive shooting in South Korea. But the sparks in their eyes are there! Amazing!!

I just remember Daddy Ri’s comment in the car: Are you crying? Haha. Hilarious! The way he asked and his expression like that make it funny. And RJH expression is undescribable afterwards!

Daddy Ri is really one important role for giving hilarious scenes and serious parts. I think I rarely see parents of RJH in other dramas.

@mundaliv You mention Daddy’ questioning Hyuk if he is crying, and I second you in this scene. I like the subtle conveyance of feeling on Hyuk’ face, the way he cries in front of his father is quite different from the way he cries with his girlfriend. Hyuk shows his vulnerability with his father and his father certainly indicates his care and approval of his son’s relationship. I also like Daddy when He tells Mommy that ‘ Do you think Hyuk is your son only’. A simple response has a powerful impact on assuring his worrying wife. I have to give a bow to the actress performing Mommy’ role, she is excellent in conveying the mood of her character, from desperation to burst of love when seeing her beloved son and husband safe and sound.
I feel embarrassed to admit to all dear comrades that over the past two months, I have spent every free moment of my life searching and reading about CLoYs and the cast. I have attempted to watch HyunBin’ past work including Secret Garden and Memories of A but couldn’t finish both of them because I only have Captain Hyuk in my heart and mind.  I have watched the Negotiation and like it but I am more impressed by Son Ye-Jin’ acting than Hyun-Bin’a performance (perhaps because I am fan of Ye-jin ).

Now I am struggling with withdrawal symptoms and Soompi’ forum is certainly a refuge for my wandering soul.

not sure why it has to be a competition between Goblin and CLOY, records are meant to be broken. CLOY's success doesn't take anything away from Goblin, their is room in the world for both series esp since it's from the same writer. Until another tvn series does better we can savor CLOY's blockbuster ratings. Honestly the ratings for the finale blew me away. i hope CLOY continues to do well on streaming.

I think the only reason people are drawing a comparison between Goblin and CLoY is due to ratings. I think it’s because CLoY supposedly passed Goblin? I don’t follow ratings so I don’t know for sure.

I personally am not interested in ratings because when I like/love a drama, I love it for what it is and I don’t really care if the rest of the world agrees. What classifies a good drama differs from person to person anyway. Some will judge it by the story line, some will like it bec of the cast and chemistry, some will like it for the production, OST, some for the way it made them feel and of course some will like it for a combination of all these aspects.

I have seen both Goblin and CLoY and I love them both equally. I won’t compare them because I don’t think it’s fair. They have vastly different story lines and my reasons for loving each are different. But both dramas had me enjoying every episode, at times crying, at times laughing and had me rooting hard for all of its characters.

I know not everyone will agree with me when I say that CLoY will be on my list of the top best dramas I’ve ever seen and that’s okay. The point is, I saw the magic in it, loved the characters, believed the chemistry and cried and laughed and came away from each episode with a feeling of satisfaction.

Wow! Almost 400 pages for CLOY thread.

I’ve been back reading since Sunday morning and I have yet to finish.

I think I have to read close to 40 pages to reach the most current one I’ve read.

Anyways, I’ve enjoyed everyone’s feedback.

I’m sorry to those who wanted a “better” ending than the Switzerland one.

With the newer stills and the BTS, I am a happy camper (and shipper).

It’s been a thrilling ride but my dad had suggested I stop coming to forums for now.

@Chewy Hoe

If its possible, can you send me the writers thoughts as well, please? Would appreciate it.

So, see you all for the next amazing K-Drama!

Not from the same writer at all. The writer who wrote Goblin is the same one who did Secret Garden, DOTS and Mr Sunshine.   CLOY's writer is the one who did My love from the Stars and Legend of the blue sea. Totally different writers and directors.

Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin ‍are crash-landing on you

Se-ri (Son Ye-jin) looks like a wide-eyed school girl and not the worldly woman that she is while following Jung-hyuk (Hyun Bin) in this episode of 'Crash Landing on You'. (Inquirer/Netflix/File)

The meeting of Hyun Bin’s and Son Ye-jin’s characters in Crash Landing on You is no accident. It’s serendipity.

This will be your conclusion after watching the first four episodes of the Netflix Original.

Director Lee Jeong-hyo dropped a big hint about the story line during the drama’s press conference at the Grand Ballroom of the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul last Dec. 9.

“The two main characters have a special memory in Switzerland,” he said when asked about their shoot abroad. This one sentence was actually a huge clue and a bigger promise of kilig factor. This meant that Jung-hyuk (Hyun Bin) and Se-ri (Son) had crossed paths before she crash-landed into his arms.

Crash Landing on You is about a South Korean heiress and a North Korean officer who fall for each other in North Korea. The setting makes the show a fantasy because the tense relationship between the two countries make it impossible for regular citizens to meet at all. ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

Because it’s impossible to shoot in North Korea, they had to shoot in different locations instead. A train station in one episode was actually filmed in Mongolia. ‍‍The scenes in the Korean Demilitarized Zone were shot in Jeju. ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

Fans of the show have been coming up with their own theories about what happened between Jung-hyuk and Se-ri while they were abroad years before meeting each other again in North Korea.

This might explain why Jung-hyuk treats Se-ri the way he does. He probably remembers her and she does not.

Son talked about Switzerland in an interview with Super K. “Se-ri has a story to tell in Switzerland. Despite the place being so beautiful, there’s a rather sad story there. During the scenes, there was a sense of beauty and sadness. I tried to capture that in my acting,” Son said.

Se-ri came to die in Switzerland, a country where euthanasia is legal and accepted. Jung-hyuk, on the other hand, was there to pursue a dream. They truly were opposites even before they became aware of each other’s existence.

Hyun Bin said, “I look forward to showing the viewers the beautiful scenery we were able to capture. My first shoot was in Switzerland. I remember being both nervous and excited to be there. Fortunately, I think we did a pretty good job and got the scenes we wanted,” he said.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

Shooting outside Seoul is still exciting for a seasoned actor like him. His last series, Memories of the Alhambra, was shot partly in Spain.

The viewers of Crash Landing on You are enamored with Hyun Bin’s character Jung-hyuk. His qualities would make any man next to him look bad. Like a true protagonist, he is handsome and a true gentleman. But what really sets him apart is the way he does household chores. He can make his own fresh noodles, roast coffee beans and improvise a bathtub.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

When Se-ri complained that she can’t survive washing her hair with just soap, he purchased body wash, shampoo and conditioner from the black market for her.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

He is a by-the-book soldier but he is a softie when it comes to Se-ri. Jung-hyuk does not think indulging a woman is a weakness.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

“During the past few years, I played men who led a gritty life. I wanted to do a lighter and less serious role. I came upon this drama at just the right time,” he said. “The script was really fun. The lines, characters and the story were really well-written and fun, so I wanted to bring that to life.”

The sentiment was echoed by Son. She said that she loved the script from the start. She described it as intriguing.

“I really wanted to do it. I think it was destiny that I came upon this drama. The characters, the situations, and also the sadness and pain the characters suffer later on. This series conveys a variety of emotions, so it was an easy yes for me,” she said.‍‍‍‍‍‍While the two already denied real-life dating rumors, we wanted to know if Son thinks a man like Jung-hyuk is worth a possible heartbreak. She replied by talking about Jung-hyuk’s impact on her character’s life. She said that Se-ri’s birthright and success was her own undoing. She is spoiled and used to getting her way and it took a Jung-hyuk to change all that, according to Son.

“She feels things she’s never felt before. Through her attraction toward him, she changed as a person. For Se-ri, Jung-hyuk is her destiny and someone who completely changes her life. He’s worth more than a heartbreak,” she said.

Hyun Bin voiced his admiration for Son. He said that they worked on a project before but they were not able to do any scenes together. This made him very curious about her when they started working together. “Her professionalism as an actress is really great. We were able to work closely together. When we meet on set, she has already prepared for the scenes that we are about to do,” he said. “It challenged me to do better and learn a lot from her.”
