That’s my only gripe .  I was like “patient is having trouble breathing, no time for long looks or chatter, every second counts, his brain is being starved of oxygen, could end up in a vegetative state”

  I was also screaming at the screen then, too.  "Do it now! Hurry up!  Don't hesitate!"  Then when the other inmate was on the gurney in absolute agony with guards and EMTs clustered around, there are our two leads just standing there making heavy-duty long-term eye contact and talking in riddles.  Oh my.

I'm not a medical person (thus I probably can't judge appropriately) but I thought that those scenes seemed very credible--lots better than I've seen on other shows.  But I was a little confused earlier on in the episode when that huge crowd of medicos went rushing into the middle of an ongoing surgery with Doctor Mom.  Obviously she went there to try to help a patient in trouble; I just couldn't figure out why there was a herd with her, and I wondered about that.

Anyway, this show was so stress-y that I had to turn off the sound at a couple of points and I had to stop to catch my breath.  For me, that means that the drama is working because I'm believing that it feels real.  That's a good thing.

My only gripe: the character being played by Ji Sung reminds me too much of an ex-boyfriend!

I started this for Ji Sung, confident that he would be good but not really expecting much from the drama itself. I really liked the first episode, however. I liked the characters and am interested in learning about their pasts. I'm really worried for the young inmate even though he didn't get a whole lot of screen time. All signs that the drama is on the right track!

The herd were probably residents/interns.  There’s a hierarchy in any hospital system.  Once you finish your Uni degree and qualify, you do 1 year as an intern (some countries call it first year residency - probably because you practically live in the hospital as they throw you in on the deep end to gain requisite “experience”).  Afterwhich most will decide to do some specialty so they stay as residents in the hospital system “studying” and sit various exams to get their speciality “stripes” and add more letters to their name.  Dr Kang was a second year resident until something happened and she decided to throw the towel in.  What YoHan did was actually provide training for her (presumably he had already earnt all his stripes and was a qualified anaesthesiologist) but yeah, he could’ve moved it along a bit and not talked for so long. Anyway the herd were probably residents at the hospital (qualified doctors but not in any particular speciality) - maybe surgical/anaesthesiology ones keen to gain experience but not quite game to help or try anything in that situation - they usually have someone senior who is fully qualified overseeing them.  A bit like SiYoung in that situation in the prison yard.  They needed a senior clinician to take charge and guide them.  SiYoung’s mom is qualified as a specialist or Registrar.  Not sure what but I am guessing Anesthesia?

It’s pretty real and I am not cringing so it’s a good thing.  The stuff that happened in Ep1 are real medical procedures howbeit in less than ideal sanitary conditions but hey, when you have to work with those limitations, you just work with what you have and hope for the best.

Can’t do anything about the ex-bf similarities though.

Currently having trouble finding episode 2.  The sites where I watch (admittedly not legal) have got the episode numbers fouled up thanks to the silly numbering system that says episode 1 is episode 1 & 2 in halves.  So frustrating!

Good information.  Thanks!   I only know hospitals from the patient's side.  If I recall properly, they did say that Dr. Mom was in anasthetics and so is daughter-intern (sorry haven't go the names sorted yet).

There's no cure for that.  He made cute faces and did the funny lip-pursing and played at sing-song nonsense.  He was charming and infuriating and (sadly) deeply evil.  I am hoping that our Ji Sung's character will be the first two qualities and not the third.  ^_^

I am still waiting to find time for Ep2.  And it is frustrating because of the whole 1/2hr thing. Where they split the full hour to 2 half hour ones and then have separate ratings for each half? .  Anyway we just have to work with what’s given.  Some have said second Ep is better than the first.  From synopsis, SiYoung(LSY)’s mom like you said is the Head/Chief of Anesthesia.  She’s brilliant but cold and clinical (like how she was in Ep1). Her dad was also a doctor but the opposite of her mom, warm, attentive and caring. It looks like her dad passed away? And SiYoung felt responsible for his death.  I think she may end up having the best of both parents.  The brain of mom with the heart of dad.

It took some searching (about 7 or 8 sites) but I found it.  Episode 2 was just as good as the first and, yes, possibly even better.  Love this show; hope it continues to get better still.

I have a theory:  the patient she couldn't save was her dad, and he's in a coma.  It's him that she sent the picture of her lab coat.

*Sees profile pic of YH*

*Noticed that is from defendant*

*AHHHHHHHHH* Fangirl Scream.

Honestly, as a fan of Ji Sung, I was screaming here and there when he do things on the first ep. I can't help it! HE LOOKS HANDSOME! hahhahaha.

I love that Yo Han is back! But i know for sure, it's not gonna be a smooth one. with him having a bad rep. Plus looking at all those doctors, they look like some money hungry people.

@Lawyerh come over! You are apart of this parade now!

Yes @Lawyerh Yo Han bought you in. Hehehe.

To me, I see Yo Han to her as a ‘senior to junior’ relationship but when Yohan looked at her in the prison doctor’s office, I think will eh.

I just finished watching ep 1 and I really like it. Ji Sung is doing an amazing job like always....and he doesn´t seems to age at all. He needs to share his skincare routine :joy:

So far the female lead wasn´t doing much for me...but since it´s the first episode I will wait and see how she will develop over time.

One thing that really annoys me about medical dramas is that, a patient would be lying there fighting for their life and the doctors would be  standing there talking like they got all the time in the world.

I don´t know if there will be romance...but if there isn´t then I would be fine with it....Ji Sung is enough for me :relieved:

@Ameera Ali He called...here I am :lol:

Just watched Ep2.  You could be right about her dad!  It does sound rather odd that she would leave him to go to Madagascar though?  One way ticket?  It’s one thing to run away from your past trauma, but another to run away from your responsibilities?  Seems kinda unfilial (if you’re Korean anyway).  I like the pacing.  Even if I rolled my eyes a bit when JiSung swung his lab coat on like a cape.  No doctor does that...but hey, he’s kinda eccentric and odd.  I think he’s got a medical problem possibly, that’s why he doesn’t drink hot stuff (the coffee) or eat spicy food (like what Inmate 5353 said)?  Not sure.  I like SiYoung and YoHan’s dynamic.  JiSung is so very cavalier.  This is my first time watching him.  I am not sure why the PD opts to do close ups of their mouths so much whilst they are speaking... it gets a bit distracting .  Dr Lee Vs Dr YoHan?  No competition.  All in all, I like this medical drama.  I tend to avoid medical dramas because a lot of it is so unrealistic.  This one seems to strike a good balance.  Yes to having laces tied.  Yes to doctors always running.  :D
