Sounds interesting.. too bad Deng Lun isn't the lead

This show is a little dark, and Luo Jin may be a little to old to play the role of a "young" Yang Jian now. I've watched the actress playing Da Ji in another show (Traveling Across the Sea to See You) but never realized that sometimes the way she delivers her lines are a little.. bland. My favorite scenes so far are all the ones involving the "shifu" who got sent down to guide Yang Jian. Deng Lun is channeling evil quite well.

Just watch it in support of Deng Lun hehehe. His evil character is quite interesting based on the few epis that had English subs. He plays it well. And just look at his visuals LOL

In this version of Investiture of the Gods,Da Ji isn’t actually a fox demon. She made a deal with Zi Xu who sometimes possesses her to help her seduce the King of Shang. Her motive for being evil is to avenge her family by causing the downfall of the Shang dynasty.

The production of this drama was shorten to less than 60 episodes. It was such a poorly scripted drama by using yang jian (erlang Shen) being so obsessed with Daji (who is his foster sister ). China viewers really hate this version of investiture of the gods since the director really turned the story into an abysmal mess.... the gods really did no justice to many important characters such as Wong Fei Hu (martial king of Shang), wen Zhong (grand tactician of Shang ), wu ji (supposedly to be the carpenter but end up being used as a fake name )  the five celestial generals recruited by Jiang jiya were sloppily slapped in to the drama. It’s so confusing why yang jian was made to be the protagonist (a real pathetic one too) in the gods since in the actual source material yang jian hardly ever appear.

The drama broadcast was supposedly cut short because of an order by the censors.
