'WATCHER' is a psychological thriller drama in which three men and women who have fallen out of life due to tragic events become police corruption investigation teams and discover the reality of power.

The lives of Do Chi-Gwang (Han Suk-Kyu), Kim Young-Koon (Seo Kang Joon)  and Han Tae-Joo (Kim Hyun Joo) were destroyed by a tragic affair. They became members of an internal affairs investigation team for the police and they try to dig up the truth on who is behind the tragic affair.

Character descriptions

Do Chi-Gwang (Han Suk Kyu) is an elite detective. He is thoughtful and smart. He is also proud of his record of catching criminals. After going through a series of cases, he realizes the importance of work done by the police on corruption. Do Chi-Gwang then becomes the chief of the internal affairs investigation team.

 

Kim Young-Koon (Seo Kang Joon)is a police officer and member of the mobile patrol team. He acts cold to other people, but he is actually tender with a warm personality. He does not associate with other people. By accident, he happens to meet Do Chi-Gwang. Do Chi-Gwang got involve in a the tragic affair, which Kim Young-Koon tries to forget. To find the truth behind that case, he joins the internal affairs investigation team.

 

Han Tae-Joo (Kim Hyun Joo) is a popular lawyer. In her past, she worked as a prosecutor. She became entangled in a case unexpectedly and survived even though her life was in grave danger. She then quit her job as a prosecutor and became a lawyer. She meets Do Chi-Gwang and Kim Young-Koon and joins their internal affairs team.

This week is really out to destroy me with its casting news, and Han Suk-kyu's possible upcoming return to Dramaland after "Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim" is no exception to this sweet torture. The actor has been offered a role in OCN's "WATCHER", which would mark his first foray into cable dramas.

As previously shared in my piece about the channel's 2019 lineup, "WATCHER" is a psychological thriller following three men and women who join an anti-corruption police unit and unravel the reality of power after their lives are ruined by a traumatic event. There doesn't seem to be more information out on the role offered to Han Suk-kyu, but we'll hopefully know more when the actor has made his decision.

Seo Kang Joon and Han Suk Kyu might meet in OCN’s upcoming drama “Watcher”!

On March 29, a source from OCN revealed, “We gave Han Suk Kyu and Seo Kang Joon offers to star [in ‘Watcher’]. We are currently discussing the drama with both of them. The drama will premiere sometime in the latter half of this year. We have yet to confirm the exact date and time.”

“Watcher” is a thriller drama that will tell the story of three people whose lives are destroyed following a tragic incident, and they become a team to uncover corruption of the police and discover the truth behind powerful people. It is written by Han Sang Woon of “The Good Wife” and directed by Ahn Gil Ho of “Memories of the Alhambra.”

OCN’s new drama “Watcher” has confirmed its main cast!

“Watcher” will be a psychological thriller that follows three people whose lives are destroyed by a tragic accident as they become a team that uncovers corruption and fights against people with power. With an interesting premise of good cops catching bad cops, the drama will talk about the various facets of humanity in a new way.

Han Suk Kyu, Seo Kang Joon, and Kim Hyun Joo were all in talks to join the drama, and they are now all confirmed for the main lead. Han Suk Kyu will play the role of Do Chi Kwang, the head of the anti-corruption team. He was a thoughtful, elite police officer who felt pride in catching the bad guys but after a series of events, he uncovers corruption in the police force and realizes the importance of internal monitoring, and he becomes the col and exact team leader who doesn’t let personal relationships cloud his judgment.

Seo Kang Joon will play Kim Young Goon, a motor patrol officer. Though he is a warm and affectionate person, he hides all of that at his job and acts cold and distant. He had applied to work as a motor patrol officer because he wanted to work alone, and by chance, he meets Do Chi Kwang, who has something to do with something that happened to him in the past. Though Kim Young Goon had tried to erase his shocking past, meeting Do Chi Kwang leads him to join the anti-corruption team to find the truth.

With them will be Kim Hyun Joo, who will play the popular lawyer Han Tae Joo. After being admitted to the police academy, she changed paths to become an elite prosecutor. During her career as a prosecutor, an investigation she got involved in went too far and she almost lost her life in the process. Since then, she has set up her own private law firm after quitting her job as a prosecutor, and fate leads her to the anti-corruption team.

Kim Hyun-joo, Seo Kang-joon and Han Suk-gyu in "WATCHER"

 

She takes on the role of lawyer Kim Tae-joo. She used to be an elite course prosecutor, but she resigns after she is hurt badly in a robbery. She stays abroad for a while, but returns to Korea to establish a firm that deals with rich criminals. She intentionally defends these criminals, worsens their problems, and turns the fight back on their organizations.

Kim Hyun-joo last starred in the drama "Miracle That We Met" a year and six months ago. Her co-stars Han Suk-kyu and Seo Kang-joon will play Do Chi-gwang, a corrupt investigations officer and Kim Young-goon, a cynical and suspicious cop.

"WATCHER" is a psychological thriller that delves into the reality of power. It follows the story of three men and women who join a special anti-corruption police investigation unit after their lives are shattered by a dramatic event.

 I like the genre and Han Suk Kyu and Kim Hyun joo. I like them both. We`ll have another Han Tae Joo. A woman this time. I did not know Seo Kang Joon  I am sure they cast only good actors in this drama.

Han Suk-Kyu, Seo Kang-Joon and Kim Hyun-Joo cast in OCN drama series “Watcher”

Han Suk-Kyu, Seo Kang-Joon and Kim Hyun-Joo are cast for lead roles in OCN drama series “Watcher.” All three performers will play members of an internal affairs investigation team for the police. Their backgrounds are different on why they joined the team. Han Suk-Kyu will play former detective Do Chi-Gwang. He is the leader of the internal affairs team. Seo Kang-Joon will play former police officer Kim Young-Koon. Lastly, Kim Hyun-Joo will play former prosecutor/lawyer Han Tae-Joo.

“Watcher” will first air sometime during the second half of this year in South Korea.

Park Joo Hee has been confirmed to star in OCN’s upcoming drama “Watcher”!

On April 24, Park Joo Hee’s agency Clover Company confirmed, “Park Joo Hee will be starring in ‘Watcher.'” The upcoming drama will be a psychological thriller that follows three people, whose lives are destroyed by a tragic accident, as they become a team that uncovers corruption and fights against people with power. With an interesting premise of good cops catching bad cops, the drama will talk about the various facets of humanity in a new way.

Previously, Han Suk Kyu, Seo Kang Joon, and Kim Hyun Joo were confirmed as cast members for “Watcher.” Park Joo Hee will be taking on the role of Jo Soo Yeon who has a master’s degree in chemistry. She enters the police department as a specially selected specialist for the Scientific Investigation Team. At first, she works with pride, thinking that she will capture the suspect with perfect evidence, but a single mistake leads her to releasing the real criminal. Unable to handle the heavy pressure, she requests to be transferred to the inspection team.

First script reading for OCN drama series “Watcher”

First script reading for OCN drama series “Watcher” took place recently in South Korea. Gathered at the first script reading were main cast members Han Suk-Kyu, Seo Kang-Joon, Kim Hyun-Joo, Heo Sung-Tae, Park Joo-Hee, Joo Jin-Mo, Kim Soo-Jin, Jung Do-Won and Lee Jae-Yoon.

Meanwhile, “Watcher” is now scheduled to first air July, 2019, taking over OCN’s Saturday & Sunday 22:20 time slot after “Voice 3.”

Following the confirmation of its cast, upcoming OCN drama “Watcher” has released photos from its first script reading!

“Watcher” is a psychological thriller that follows three people, whose lives are destroyed by a tragic accident, as they become a team that uncovers corruption and fights against people with power. With an interesting premise of good cops catching bad cops, the drama will deal with the various facets of humanity in a new way.

The production crew as well as the actors including Han Suk Kyu, Kim Hyun Joo, and Seo Kang Joon, got together to perform the elaborate script reading.

Han Suk Kyu became Do Chi Kwang, the cold but sly head of the anti-corruption team who doesn’t trust people’s feelings. The actor said, “I was impressed by the realistic script that is faithful to the [psychological thriller] genre. It’s a production that focuses on the people involved in the cases.”

The first still cuts of upcoming psychological thriller Watcher have been released. Featuring veteran actor Han Seok-kyu (Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim), this new OCN drama is about a tragic case that ties three people together. The other two in the trio will be played by Seo Kang-joon (The Third Charm) and Kim Hyun-joo (Miracle That We Met). As part of the internal investigations team, they must stand against the corruption of the police and reveal the powerful entities that control them.

This story takes a unique angle by focusing on the internal investigations team, because they are cops that catch other cops. In doing so, the drama will capture the multifaceted and hidden aspects of those who are supposed to be the protectors of society.

Han Seok-kyu plays Investigator Do Chi-kwang, who is the leader of the internal investigations team. He’s suspicious of everyone he meets and doesn’t trust human emotions. After witnessing a tragic event, he chose to live a life of loneliness and become a watcher of internal corruption. The actor took on this project after a two year hiatus from dramas because he believed that this character’s development throughout the plot was interesting, and he thought the script was grounded in reality while staying true to the psychological thriller genre.

“Watcher” is about three people whose lives get intertwined after a tragic incident. They form a corruption investigation team to uncover police corruption and reveal the ugly truth behind power. With a unique topic of cops chasing cops, this psychological thriller will show the various hidden aspects of humanity.

Director Ahn Gil Ho, who is known for his detailed directing skills on past projects such as “Secret Forest” and “Memories of the Alhambra,” and writer Han Sung Woon, who was praised for expressing the characters in great detail in “The Good Wife,” will work together on this series. Along with a talented pool of staff, “Watcher” also boasts a stellar cast including Han Suk Kyu, Seo Kang Joon, Kim Hyun Joo, Heo Sung Tae, Park Joo Hee, Joo Jin Mo, Kim Soo Jin, and Lee Jae Yoon.

Tied by tragedy and putting aside differences in OCN’s Watcher

I’m going to be honest, I could probably watch Han Seok-kyu (Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim) read a cookbook for a full drama’s worth of hours and be totally content. But to have him in a thriller with the director of Memories of the Alhambra and the writer of The Good Wife? I’m so there. Which is why I’m itching for July to start already so I can check out his upcoming OCN show Watcher.

The new stills feature our leads Han Seok-kyu, Kim Hyun-joo (Miracle That We Met), and Seo Kang-joon (The Third Charm), whose characters are all connected by a tragic incident. It’s not clear whether it’s this incident that results in all three joining the same internal investigations team, but these stills don’t suggest smooth sailing from the outset. Which is no wonder, since they’re from different, sometimes adversarial, divisions within law enforcement. While Han Seok-kyu is the detective-turned-team leader of the internal investigations team, Kim Hyun-joo joins as a notorious defense attorney known for her skillful negotiation tactics. Seo Kang-joon rounds out the trio as a police officer.

I can’t recall I’ve ever seen an internal investigations team as the heroes in a drama before. Generally, they’ve been depicted as high-handed cronies to the villains in these kinds of legal/political thrillers, so I’m eager to see an internal investigations department doing their actual jobs in a drama for once. And with Han Seok-kyu leading the charge, I feel pity for any corrupt cop or prosecutor who finds themselves on his radar.

OCN’s new weekend drama “Watcher” has shared character teaser posters for the main cast. The fierce gaze coming from the three actors is enough to raise anticipation for the drama. “Watcher” will follow the story of an anti-corruption team that tries to uncover corruption within the police force and find out the hidden evils of the system. The interesting premise of police catching police will reflect the hidden sides of people as a psychological thriller.

The new teaser posters are of Han Suk Kyu, Seo Kang Joon, and Kim Hyun Joo. Han Suk Kyu plays the role of Do Chi Kwang, a police officer who witnesses corruption, while Seo Kang Joon will play Kim Young Goon, a policeman who witnesses a murder. Kim Hyun Joo will play Han Tae Joo, a lawyer who witnesses a lie. They will team up to form the anti-corruption team that will be the center of the drama.

 

Do Chi Kwang is the head of the team and he has a cold look in his eye, appearing to question everything. His intense gaze is in search of truth, and he is even able to pierce into people’s intentions and thoughts. Kim Young Goon also holds a strong gaze but with a hint of sadness, reflecting a past that continues to haunt him. It will be interesting to see why he has decided to join the team and work with the other two. Meanwhile, Han Tae Joo is the “queen of negotiation,” a charismatic elite lawyer who undergoes changes after an unexpected incident. Her cold expression and strong gaze are captivating in the teaser poster.
