Why wait for it?: Except for the reason that Kim SoHyun in a historical drama is a must-see, the fact that this is a man disguising as a woman is a reason for watching by it-self. In K-Dramas, it has been quite a common theme (in historical drama or not) to have the main actress disguised as a man. However, this time the lead male is disguising as a woman and is supposed to be prettier than the lead female character (according to the webtoon). The last reason to watch would be the popularity of the webtoon on which the drama is based, the story promises to be refreshing.

Kang Tae Oh Joins Historical Rom-Com Starring Kim So Hyun And Jang Dong Joon

 

Actor Kang Tae Ho has joined Kim So Hyun and Jang Dong Yoon in KBS 2TV’s upcoming historical romantic comedy “Nok Du Chronicle” (literal title), which is based on a webtoon of the same name.

The drama is about the unique romance between a man named Jeon Nok Du (played by Jang Dong Yoon), who disguises himself as a woman in order to enter a mysterious all-female community, and a gisaeng-in-training named Dong Dong Joo (played by Kim So Hyun), who wants anything but to become a gisaeng (female courtesan).

Kang Tae Oh joins the drama as Cha Yul Mu, a man with perfect looks and a special talent for cooking. But behind the sweet and gentle man he presents to the world is someone who’s harboring a lot of secrets. Though he’s the subject of ladies’ love everywhere he goes, he only has eyes for Dong Dong Joo, with whom he has a special childhood connection.

Kang Tae Oh, a member of 5urprise, most recently appeared in Netflix’s “My First First Love” starring Ji Soo, DIA’s Jung Chaeyeon, and B1A4’s Jinyoung.

A source from the production of “Nok Du Chronicle” said, “With Jang Dong Yoon, Kim So Hyun, and Kang Tae Oh, we’ve completed the perfect cast for a youth historical drama. You can look forward to the unique ‘Joseon rom-com’ that the three actors will create.”

“Nok Du Chronicle” is set to air in September this year.

Jo Soo-hyang to Star in "Joseon Rom-Com Mung Bean Chronicles"

Actress Jo Soo-hyang is starring in her first sageuk drama, "Joseon Rom-Com Mung Bean Chronicles".

 

"Joseon Rom-Com Mung Bean Chronicles", which is based on an original Naver webtoon, is a fun Joseon romantic comedy about Jeon Nok-doo, who dresses up as a woman to enter a village of widows, and Dong Dong-joo, a young woman who doesn't want to become a gisaeng.

Kim So Hyun Confirms For a New Rom-Com Historical Drama

Kim So Hyun (Radio Romance) is all ready to make a comeback in a new drama called “Mung Bean Chronicles” (also called Tale of Nok-Du). Offers are also out to Jang Dong Yoon for the male lead.

 

“Mung Bean Chronicles” is a rom-com story set in Joseon Dynasty. Jeon Nok Du (offered to Jang Dong Yoon) who belongs to a noble family runs away from his house due to the burden of marrying a woman his family arranged for him. He then stays in a widow village where he disguises himself as a woman. There he meets Dong Dong Joo (Kim So Hyun) who is unwillingly training to become a gisaeng.

 

The drama is based on a webtoon of the same name and will be directed by the director of the drama “Fight My Way”.

'SKY Castle's Song Geon Hee to join Kim So Hyun in a new drama

 

Song Geon Hee and Kim So Hyun are set for a new drama. 

 

On April 16, a rep of KBS drama department confirmed to Star News, "Song Geon Hee is appearing in the new KBS 2TV Mon-Tues drama 'Mung Bean Chronicle' (literal translation)."

 

'Mung Bean Chronicle' is a romantic comedy set in the Joseon era. The production was originally a popular Naver webtoon.

 

Song Geon Hee is set to play Jeon Hwang Tae, the brother of Jeon Nok Doo. Meanwhile, Kim So Hyun is playing Dong Dong Joo. 

The upcoming drama is gaining more attention for being Song Geon Hee's first project since the hit drama 'SKY Castle.'

MOMOLAND’s Yeonwoo may be making her acting debut!

On May 27, it was reported that Yeonwoo had been cast in upcoming KBS drama “Mung Bean Chronicle” (literal title).

In response to the reports, a source from the drama commented, “MOMOLAND’s Yeonwoo is positively considering [the offer] to star in ‘Mung Bean Chronicle.'”

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “Mung Bean Chronicle” is about the romance between Jeon Nok Du (played by Jang Dong Yoon), who disguises himself as a woman to infiltrate a mysteriously all-female community, and Dong Dong Joo (played by Kim So Hyun), who wants to be anything but a gisaeng (female courtesan).

Yeonwoo has received the offer to as Dong Dong Joo’s best friend Mae Hwa Soo. Gifted with alluring abilities such as her manner of speaking, dancing, and singing, she is a skilled gisaeng.

“Mung Bean Chronicle” will be directed by Kim Dong Hwi, who previously directed “Fight My Way” and “The Merchant: Gaekju 2015.” It will be written by Im Ye Jin, who previously wrote KBS drama special “If We Were A Season,” “Moonlight Drawn By Clouds,” “Who Are You: School 2015,” as well as Baek So Yeon, who previously wrote “Kang Duk Soon’s Love History.”

The drama is slated to premiere in September.
