Jin Sun Kyu, Oh Na Ra, Jang Dong Joo, And More Confirmed For New Boxing Film

Dec 29, 2019 / by S. Park

A star-studded lineup of actors will be teaming up for the upcoming film “Count” (literal title)!

On December 27, CJ Entertainment revealed that the film, which will be produced by Film K (whose previous works include “On Your Wedding Day” and “E.X.I.T”), has confirmed its starring cast.

“Count” will tell the story of former gold medalist-turned-gym teacher Si Heon (played by Jin Sun Kyu) and rebellious student Yoon Woo (played by Sung Yoo Bin) as they throw a punch at the unfair world.

Jin Sun Kyu will portray former gold medalist-turned-gym teacher Si Heon. After retiring from his career as one of the nation’s top boxers, Si Heon frustrates the people around him with his stubborn, self-centered ways. Jin Sun Kyu, who recently starred in several hit blockbusters including “Extreme Job” and “The Outlaws,” will show off his Gyeongsang Province dialect as he undergoes another transformation for this new film.

Sung Yoo Bin, who mesmerized audiences with his acting in movies like “Last Child,” “Birthday,” “The Battle: Roar to Victory,” and “Moonlit Winter,” will be playing the character of Yoon Woo. Although Yoon Woo was born with outstanding skills, he lost hope early on in his life after facing the world’s injustice. Sung Yoo Bin will show his tough, fierce side by transforming into a rebellious student who channels his anger to become a rising boxer.

Jang Dong Joo, who made a lasting impression as a murder suspect on “Mr. Temporary,” joins the cast as Hwan Joo, a character who starts boxing because he doesn’t want to become a street thug.

The film will also star Oh Na Ra as Si Heon’s nagging but caring wife, Go Chang Suk as Si Heon’s high school teacher and current principal, and Go Kyu Pil as Si Heon’s friend.

"Count" Casts 6 Including Jin Seon-kyu and Oh Na-ra

(2019/12/30)

The upcoming film "Count" has confirmed its lineup.

The film "Count" is about Si-heon (Jin Seon-kyu), a former medallist who is now a troublemaker physical educations teacher, and Yoon-woo (Sung Yoo-bin), a natural born rebel, taking a satisfying whack at life.

Jin Seon-kyu, who has had continuous hits with "The Outlaws" and the ten million hit-maker "Extreme Job", tackles the role of Si-heon, a former medallist who is now a troublemaking physical education teacher. Si-heon used to be a national boxer, but after he retires, his stubborn and strong-headed personality becomes a burden on people. Jin Seon-kyu's Kyeongsang dialect and performance are expected to bring about a humane and fun transformation in his character.

In the role of Yoon-woo, a rebel who changes Si-heon, is Sung Yoo-bin, the new ace of Chungmuro.

Jang Dong-joo from "Class of Lies" takes on the role of Hwan-joo, who starts boxing because he doesn't want to become a gangster.

"SKY Castle" actress Oh Na-ra gets into the role of Si-heon's wife, Il-seon, who nags a lot, but is soft at heart.

Ko Chang-seok is Si-heon's high school teacher who is now the principal of the school Si-heon works at. Ko Kyu-pil is Man-deok, Si-heon's neighborhood friend.
