We so want JS to end up happy, with a wonderful future, but with the scummy husband and his mistress getting together, their careers and social status scaling up, and so sad no 2nd lead lurking around to love our heroine, we are now grasping at straws? :) My crystal ball says, no SJ-JS ending, thank goodness, it will be a soaring career for JS. On the personal side, maybe she will bump into Jo In Sung or So Ji Sub...?

I think it's time that we- and JS, HA, MN, etc.- pay a visit to SW the Alpaca Soothsayer/Fortuneteller and have him read out the future of the last four episodes of VIP so that we decide to either stick by JS's (and the VIP team's, minus YR and SJ) side all the way or just save ourselves four hours of unnecessary heartbreak and table-flipping...:scream:

Speaking of SW, I finally rewatched Ep. 8, and, yes, SW's father is the Foreign Minister. Now, I don't know if SW's father (or family) holds any stocks in the Sungwoon Department Store or can directly influence any of the company's business (appointment of CEO, investigation of embezzlement charges, etc.). But I hope the VIP scriptwriter would make use of SW's family background to help JS and her VIP team take down the VP, YR, SJ, and anyone else bringing down the company for their own personal agenda or hedonism (looking at you, Director Bae ).

Now for those of us willing to go all the way with the possible trainwreck of this drama, let's up the stakes and bring in the one mofo joker who could incur more mayhem- and bloodshed- to the "spineless" SJ (and YR and the VP) while exonerating our beloved JS: Ha Woojin's (Lee Sangyoon's character in Liar Game)'s arch nemesis/Oh Sunny's (Jang Nara's character in Last Empress/Empress's Dignity) old "flame", Kang Doyoung aka Emperor Lee Hyuk.

not the last emperor guy? He is a psycho! and has an eye for ladies. I am sticking to Soh Ji Sub and Jo In Sun.

I am not sure I even want to follow the forum now. JS is going to be humiliated again in Ep 13.

Don't worry, @maribella!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who said anything about Lee Hyuk (Shin Sungrok's character in Last Empress/Empress' Dignity) being JS's new man?:tounge_xd:

I only suggested Lee Hyuk/Kang Doyoung as a last-ditch alternative for giving SJ, YR, and the VP hell while dispelling any harmful rumors aimed at JS.

As far as JS finding a new man is concerned (though I'd rather JS, with the help of HA and her VIP team, learn to love herself and regain her life and self-esteem first), Lee Hyuk can stay far, far away from her, So Jisub and Jo Insung (see spoilers below if you already watched Last Empress/Empress' Dignity or could care less about being spoiled by the canon ending)...:

Spoiler

...six feet below where we last saw or heard about Lee Hyuk (NOT counting the red-herring epilogue scene)...:skull:

It's only fair for us Soompiers to cope with the recent outrage at this week's episodes storyline the Ep. 13 preview by showering ourselves with humor, gifs, and more "conspiracy" theories that apparently resonate more with us than the current adultery/mistress trajectory we're force-fed with.

Even now, I'm debating whether or not to go back to lurker mode during the last four episodes of VIP. If it weren't the wonderful, thought-provoking inputs from other fellow Soompiers in this thread, I wouldn't have been able to stomach any more scenes of JS (and HA, MN, etc.) getting (metaphorically) kicked around and blindsided by SJ, YR, and now the VP at work over SJ's affair(?). :mask:

Let's stay strong, and fighting JS and the VIP team (minus SJ and YR)!!!!!

Oh wow! Another retired teacher. Total agreement on sending message to school administrators.

Ok I am now opening myself up for some hate. I feel ( my opinion; y’all don’t have to agree) that SJ was able to tell that girl about his lineage because she was in the same situation. At the time, he has all kinds of emotions about his father running around inside. Add the death of the father to the mix and alcohol.

Now before I get jumped on...he should never have gone drinking with “that girl”! He should have dropped her off at her door and gone directly home to his wife. If he felt pity for someone, it should be his wife who lost her child!

Next item and then I’ll stop. Someone commented on LSY’s (the actor) comments about how the viewers hate SJ. I swear SOMEWHERE I saw an interview where he starts to say we will hate his character but he stops after the word “hate”. I have looked at the Viki Interview and it’s not there. Did anyone else see that or am I dreaming?

He is doing a tremendous job of acting although some say he’s too wooden. I think he is playing the hand he was dealt by the director.

SJ did open up and tell Yuri about his father,  I doubt he shared any other secrets with her.  At least I hope he didn't share anything about his relationship with JS.  He was still wanting things to work out with her and it would have worked if Yuri had not sent that darn message.  His father dying was just the straw that broke the camel's back.  He had been bottling up his heartache of losing his baby daughter and worrying about JS and her depression.  Then his father that he never really got to know or receive love from caused the dam to break.  He is so closed up that I cannot even see him sharing much with Yuri unless he was drunk, and after that "accident"  I think he felt so ashamed and guilty that I really doubt he allowed himself to get much closer to her.  He is probably the same way with Yuri as he was with JS.  He was there for her because of the VP and they may have had one night where they "bonded" over their miserable lives but once he was sober I can't see him doing anything other than trying to comfort her (since she is always crying).  It is just not his personality to share his feelings that way.  He is not a talker and all we have seen is him listening to Yuri and JS, he rarely responds or answers their questions.  His mistake that night ruined his life and he feels sorry to Yuri for what happened and feels guilty and shameful in front of JS.

Yuri, in her naivety thought because he was always there for her and they had that night together, that he loved her. SJ hates what he has done to her because she was innocent and he doesn't want to hurt her more since she has had a hard life.  I think he is trying his best right now to keep going.  JS has asked him to leave the house and he doesn't think she will forgive him so he is choosing the next option.  Yuri will always be second choice in his eyes.

Don't get me wrong, I do not feel SJ deserves a pass even if he was depressed and needed an outlet for his stress and anxiety.   He does not deserve to be with JS, and I, like everyone else hate him for what he has done and continues to do to JS.  I want to see him, the VP and Yuri taken down.

You are not dreaming.  I also saw that somewhere in a video but could not find it again.  Someone else mentioned they had seen a video where he said, what if the text message wasn't true. and then he quit talking due to spoiling the plot.  I have looked and looked and cannot find either of those videos.  They may have been taken down or edited due to spoilers.

Actually I do understand why the husband blames his wife for the not realising his pain.  With trauma's especially loss of a baby it either binds couples together or splits them up even worse.

A mother loosing a child would be devastating, her grief in itself.  Hence why he was supporting her as best he could, same as when the mistress was in grief he automatically did what he felt oblidged to do.  But when a family member dies sometimes people forget the father grieves as well for the loss of the child.  She was so caught up in her own grief understandable as it is, that she forgot her husband also lost a child as well.  He would of felt isolated, detatched and resentful that he is not allowed to grieve with her during it all.

I have a feeling that will come back up again later, I suspect she will apologise for neglecting his feelings of their childs loss.  But in times of grief you dont go runnning to another woman.  That is never the answer.

Shin Sungrok should definitely make a cameo here and make a move on our female lead.

This screams I Have a Lover. Well, surprise, the guy also cheated there.

It has come up and she told him that he should have yelled at her and told her how he was also hurting and that he needed her.  He said he was afraid they would both collapse if he told her.  I know he tried, in his quiet way to soothe her, but once she opened the door and was sleeping in the babies room, I feel he could have held her and slept with her.  He wouldn't have had to talk at all.  They could have cried together and held each other like he did with Yuri.  They both would have received comfort that way.

@jeijei Similar plot in I Have a Lover and they did go thru the same thing.  The loss of a child and the mother blamed herself.  She became cold and indifferent in order to survive.  The husband saw that as her not grieving their loss and not caring.  He then ended up cheating with a younger woman, (who pursued him, and made him feel he could breathe again) but he never stopped loving his wife.  The couple divorced after a lot of heartbreak for the LF.   In the end, they were able to resolve everything and get back together.  That was one of my favorite dramas.  It brought about the same feelings as VIP does.  I waited anxiously for each episode and spent time searching for any tidbits of information I could find.  That is how I ended up finding out about Soompi Forums.

Nice write up because Yuri's name wasn't even mentioned here lol.

Perhaps Yuri is just this side character and checkpoint for SJ & JS to rediscover their passion for each other.

Who knows Yuri will give up on SJ once she see how they still care for each other.

Both SJ & JS probably still cannot let go of each other.

I'm annoyingly hopeless romantic like that lol. Heck, I've forgiven my husband for something similar (but not SJ's bad, lets just keep it at that haha).

But, for now. Sang Woo, please give that umbrella to JS in front of SJ first in episode 13 :tounge_wink:.

@triplem we need a conspiracy theory poll on how this drama will end and the status of the marriage.

I haven't been this on edge about a drama since the Last Empress... let's just hope this one ends better.

I think I hv lost track of the theories :

1. No affair ...but one sided love from YR

2. There was an affair

3. YR’s not the real daughter but VP’s mistress
4. This is a high end escort service ...
5. SJ is using this for his own material gain
6. it was a one night stand

ok what else ? I try to compile & make a poll

Not sure someone had done this, but i am trying to make a timeline here (as i just binge watch the last 6 episodes yesterday) :

So we know their marriage didn't have any problems not until they lost the baby. They are always a loving couple that is envied by many. I bet the communication problem also only happen from late 2018.

Sept 2018 : JS is 5 months pregnant. They are happily anticipating the arrival of their baby as they had been trying for so long (9 years).

Sept/ Oct 2018 : Their baby died in the womb and they have to induced the labor. (I don't know anything worse than loosing a baby and in this cased it is much worse than miscarried. JS need to go the painful contractions and labor only to birth a stillborn baby. Her depression is unavoidable. PSJ should be thankful she is still alive and sane).

April 2019 : PSJ met YR for the first time after running errands for the VP. He fell pity on the hard life she had. The time YR started to have an interest with PSJ.

May 2019 : YR 'accidentally' knew about PSJ birth secret. He did not even tell his wife about his father. (Unbelievable!)

June 2019 : His father died and he brokedown in front of YR. (most prob this is the starting point of their affair).

Sept/Oct 2019 : NJS. realized her mistake and trying to give her marriage a second chance. She move back to her bedroom and ask her husband to never let go of her. I think this is the time also PSJ realized his mistake of having an affair and cheat on his wife and decided to end things with YR.

Oct/Nov 2019 : YR got transferred to VIP team. The first time they met again after the broke up. According to YR it has been a month. That night, we can see NJS trying the luck  to conceive again. The very same night NJS got the message. And we knew what happened next.

I seriously don't know how NJS can stay sane. She battled with depression for a year and she fought hard to put the incident of losing their baby and be a wife to her husband. Then a month after she get to know about his affair. It's like an atomic bomb. Everything around her and the hope she has to build back her family crumbled into ash. It is a miracle she did not fall back into depression again. With this timeline, it makes PSJ more unforgivable.

I always hope it is No 1 or No 6 but my hope is shattered in Ep 12 when PSJ decided to be by YR side and openly tell NJS and the VP about his decision. The moment I see him driving to work with YR i know that the did have and affair (worst if he really loves her).

By all the special treatment she has now and we know she will be promoted to manager next, I want it to be No 3. So I will choose No 3. My second choice is No 5.

You've summed up JS's state-of-mind perfectly. I couldn't have done as well w/o interspersing an ugly comment about "hang-dog." At the beginning, I was so tickled that LSY was in this drama (at my age what younger women would swoon over, old women get"tickled". Sounds more grandmotherly that way.) Now, the guy has become just another Swarmy (a word I learned from watching Thai lakorns).

I find myself reverting back to my angry self. I would love to see a big reveal, something that leaves me with the thought "Well, I didn't see that coming. Everything makes sense now. What a great drama!" Otherwise, I might have to hang LSY out to dry for awhile. As you know, these flip-flopping emotions are so hazardous on old women.
