[Drama 2019] V.I.P, 브이아이피

Just finished episode 3 and 4  and I like the show (not about the affair). I rooting for the 4 girls to somehow find success or answer to their struggles.

I finally finished watching Ep 3 and Ep 4, tbh, I didn't enjoy them as much as I did the episodes in the pilot week. It felt a bit of a drag!  Kind of a filler episode with too much focus on secondary / supporting characters. Their back stories are interesting but the audience is more interested in the story of the main leads. Also, they had been dragging the 'mystery' for too long. It doesn't feel as gripping as let's say the mystery is When The Camellia Blooms (Although the mystery is out now) or in Catch the  Ghost. (Though they are kind of dragging it too with too many side stories). So my point is more focus on the leads please and less on the secondary.

 

That being said, I am not giving up on the drama. Jang Nara never fails to wow me so although at the moment I am a little bored with the side stories, I will stick to it and of course for the 'cheating husband', in case  he cheated and there is some grovelling at the end.

We cant have the pace of the drama like that in the next few episodes. No wonder LSY said he doesnt want to live the life of Mr Park... undecided and weak infront of the wife?? Smile more can you... haiz hahahaa

Finally watched all episodes. Our Mr. Park is indeed involved with something he shouldn't be. In the beginning of episode 3, JS said "She found out later that he looks away when he lies" which he did, plenty of times. While he is not cheating or really did cheat once in the past, he is still breaking her heart with his lies. If he thinks he can turn back and make a clean start while lying to her face, then he is in for rude awakening. He should have opened his mouth the moment she said she wants to kill him and the woman.Things are about to blow up big time. One thing is for sure, he can kiss goodbye to his promotion. 

 

I can't imagine anyone being in JS shoes. Not knowing who the woman her husband cheated with is, is driving her nuts and I can't blame her for it. At least if she knew, she would have dealt with her. 

 

@realistic2280a I'm okay with the pacing. Besides, we will know by EP 8 so I'm just gonna enjoy it until then. Knowing LSY real personality, living like Mr.Park will be a nightmare lol.

Also, in one of the introduction videos, the actress who plays the character in debt, says her character went to college with SJ, so maybe prior dating relationship in college? In the same video, he says he would never want to be like his character.

Came out of my drama slump (for a while) because of Jang Nara and Lee Sangyoon. I have always admired both actors' work, so thought I would give this drama a try. I watched all episodes, and so far I am definitely intrigued by the story line.

 

Seems like there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than just cheating. I haven't made up my mind yet if SJ has been or is cheating on JS. I really hope he isn't - it seems like he is involved in something either very sinister (for his own gain) or very heroic (help someone else). In any case, he seems to be willing to risk his marriage for whatever he is involved in.

 

Jang Nara is conveying her character's feelings very naturally as always, and I have to admit that I cried in all four episodes. JS is acting (in my opinion) very much like a woman who (thinks she) has been cheated on. The mistrust and paranoia is quite the normal response when you have lost trust in the person you love. Also, wanting to move on, smooth things over and try to act normal - when your world is crumbling into pieces you may want to try and forget the situation you are facing so that you can feel secure again. Anger and rage rearing its head from time to time. How can you not be angry when you feel like you never even knew who the person you loved was?
And beneath anger is always the feeling of fear. She is scared SJ will leave her and having the abandonment issues she has, that makes her terrified.... Lots of emotions that she is going through - all more or less quite normal in cases like this.

The other characters have pretty interesting story lines, as well. Mostly I would love to learn more about SJ, so I hope the writer is nice enough to give him more screen time.

I have been reading this forum and wonder if I should watch this show. I have liked Jang Nara since I watched her in Successful girl. She was so cute and young then. Jang Hyuk played a dorky Chaebol's son - really funny. The last empress was iffy for me. 

Just then, I have read a recap of episode 4 at the link from @lu09. All that cat and mouse stuff just for the writer to keep us guessing about the husband's cheating or non cheating activities? Too much hard work for me. At least, dangle some espionage or big time embezzlement. It looks like many more episodes before we are thrown a few more hints? Still thinking if I should watch it, the forum will do for now. I saw Lee in my daughter SY - a few episodes and I thought his expression was the same through out. This seems to be going in that direction. If he cheats, this will be his second cheating role?  Hmmmm

It's only 16 episodes, so it won't be months  before we find if the man is a lying cheating jerk.

 

Some other forum thinks it's a psychological thriller. In another show, the episodes were in the head of an old women suffering from dementia.

 

If these episodes are in JS' head and the husband is not hers.... the mistress is actually the wife...

I don’t think she’d be the mistress. He lives in the house with her. I think it might be like 6th Sense where a Bruce Willis is actually the dead one. So Jang Nara is the one having a mental breakdown and sending herself the text messages about the affair? She knows subconsciously but isn’t able to handle it before. ??? I do think he was having an affair, otherwise why would he admit to it? And he is also probably doing dirty deeds for his company. On the relationship chart, is it saying that his VP is married to the other VP’s sister? What’s that relationship line? Or is the VP’s wife having an affair with the other VP? I’m so bummed there’s no episode tonight!!!

They have been married for a few years and he is cheating on her? With one of her co-workers? 

The writer does not give any clue from the way other workers treat her. People on the verge of breakdowns will have bad days when they cannot get out of bed. If the writer is going to give a twist to the plot similar to the old lady with dementia, there has to be clues.
