Me 3. Did you notice PYJ released a statement that she broke up with her bf morning after ep 8 (the ep where we know she's the one)? They met while shooting another drama too. I was so mind-blown :hushed:  like is she dating LSY for real lol. I cannot differentiate real and reel anymore because of this drama hahaha.

i just read about the break up. My guess is she really is into LSY. As you can see LSY is acting like LSY when the camera is not rolling. Eating the props, mingle with the staffs but her, her eyes is fixated on him. She is YR and YR is her

Part 3 of my ranting over this week's episodes/drama progression coming up...sounds like I'm trudging through mud...-_-

EDIT: Before I get started, though...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA @Ameera Ali at your prediction/title for next week's episode!!!! FYI, here's my ending for YR (if it turns out that she did push JS down the stairs), as well as SJ (if he doesn't redeem himself, though I don't see how he could get out of his current predicament that he single-handedly caused), the VP, and Director Bae:

Standard disclaimers aka apologies in advance:

@Maureen MckayOr is thematchmaker telling her to have a different frame of mind for considering her future spouse because she is the VPs daughter and should be thinkingof alliances instead.

I believe different idea for future husband as a family alliance.

@razielaBut now in her new role as VP Ha's daughter it's obvious that being in a illicit relationship with an older, married illegitimate man from a poor background who is basically her father's dog will only continue to make her an outcast  in the circles she wants to fit into.

Definitely a problem that he is illegitimate. She maybe also, but her family line is rich and powerful.

Sorry for cutting your post, @TXviewer!

Off topic, I was going to replenish the missing sugar and flour that "that girl" (not me, I swear :sweatingbullets:) stole from you pantry, but then I decided to stock up and make hundreds, if not thousands, of cakes/cookies with rainbows and smiles for Christmas Eve and the drama finale next week. Guess we'll have to accost "that girl" to cough up the missing ingredients for your Christmas treats...

Back to the subject at hand: Both you, @Maureen Mckay, and @pixiebelle (and other Soompiers whom I forgot to credit here :sweatingbullets:) brought up plausible interpretations of the matchmaker's assessment of- and advice for- "Ha Yuri" vs. "Oh Yuri". As the VP's "daughter" and new "legitimate" family member (and heir?) of the affluent, corporate Ha family, there's no way that "Ha Yuri" can marry outside the Ha family's "official" marriage arrangement, let alone some married/soon-to-be-divorced(?) older man with no family connections who is a liability (for good or bad...(no) pun intended :P) as the VP's lapdog.

To add more salt to YR's wound (but some shred of delight for us Soompiers and viewers :D), YR has to compete with the other "real legitimate" heirs of the Ha family/corporate business, and she's being ostracized by her own "father" and the rest of the family gathering. So much for expecting the cakewalk into the "crazy rich Asians" lifestyle, YR.

I don't think JungSun is pregnant but earlier post mentioned she may have some kind of stomach cancer like her mom - that could be a possibility as I wonder why her mom's section was introduced earlier in the drama.  If she is really pregnant, she will raise the child alone and will not reconcile with her unfaithful husband - how can she ever trust him again ?

I don't quite like the Sang Woo having a crush/romantic feelings for JS bit - it is  cliché - rich younger man pursuing her. JS is strong and independent enough to not need that handle.

The most satisfying scene for me from the last 2 episodes : when Park SJ mom gave him a good scolding and told him how he didn't know he has lost his whole world.

Sorry for cutting your post, @pixiebelle. As I stated above, I agree your deduction on the matchmaker's advice to YR regarding her marriage prospects as "Ha Yuri" as opposed to "Oh Yuri".

Also, I agree that JS's latent sickness could be a red herring for pregnancy. However, I did not think about the possibility of JS having stomach cancer like her mother did. Either way, I hope she doesn't get seriously injured or worse, have amnesia from the stairway fall (I doubt the screenwriter would be that sadistic and/or braindead to kill off JS from that fall :().

Now, SW is a far more decent, considerate person- and colleague- than SJ or YR, but I scoff at the idea of JS rebounding with SW. Given everything that JS is dealing with at work and with her marriage, JS needs substantial time to recover from the aftermath of all that drama ((no) pun intended, obviously) and learn to love and support herself before she considers pursuing a new relationship. Plus, I think that it's already sweet and admirable of SW to be concerned of JS as (first and foremost) his direct supervisor who has been kind and patient with his (adorable) blunders at work (like how she was with YR before finding about her role in SJ's affair, despite SJ's and HA's reminder for JS to stop constantly "babysitting" SW and/or YR when they need to be responsible for their own work). Nonetheless, SW's gratitude and acknowledgement of JS as his boss and colleague does NOT have to lead to a romantic relationship...just like SJ's empathy over YR's similar familial circumstances and financial woes does NOT (and should not ) have to result in some (emotional, if not physical) affair.

And yes to SJ's mother scolding him about forsaking the one person who genuinely loved him (despite perhaps knowing all along about his familial circumstances? We'll have to see if JS already knew in the last two episodes) to make some meaning out of an otherwise misplaced pity/empathy toward an increasingly unstable, nasty ingrate whose "woe-is-me" tirade is grating on my (and most likely the Soompiers' and viewers') nerves!! Now, SJ's mother, beat the Richard Simmons out of YR, since JS got too much handful of SJ's past shady dealings with the VP to deal with that "doe-eyed" ingrate.

Maybe it is just me but from the making video, i don't like the character of the actress that play YR. i see some similarity in her with YR. Like she is seducing LSY during shooting. hahaha

4 hours ago, 2good2btru said:

@liltash85 I can normally separate character from real life person playing the part but I was thinking the exact same thing! Lol I felt like her demeanor was very similar to her character YR. I was like, youre kinda friendly to LSY and a bit handsy. Umm no.  Lol

I also felt like she was trying too hard to make it look like off camera that she's close to JNR. As though theyre friends off screen and was constantly hanging on to her.  She's trying not to get hated on by JNR/JS fans but for me made it feel like she was doing what YR did. She used JS to help her and put on that innocent act.  I was like oooh you're too much like YR and not feeling you. Lol

Now now, @liltash85 and @2good2btru (and any other Soompiers and/or viewers thinking the same way about Pyo Yejin, the actress playing YR), let's cut some slack for the poor ole actress and say that she's pulling her A-game "method acting" on and off camera...gotta stay in character while interacting with the costars, amirite...:smirk:

Spoiler

tenor.gif?itemid=13311918

Personally, I'll hold my judgment on the "sincerity" of Pyo Yejin's interactions with Jang Nara, Lee Sangyoon, and other cast members. After all, we never know anybody's true selves and/or thoughts, be it celebrity, your own friends and family, or even yourself. Ask JS, who, after spending (more like wasting) 10 years of marriage with SJ, is just starting to realize what kind of person SJ has been at home and at work...

Spoiler

trust-nobody-not-even-yourself-just-dont

As for YR the character...perhaps more experienced actresses, including Lee Chungah and Jang Nara herself, could have brought more poignancy and depth to YR's characterization than Pyo Yejin is doing right now, but it wouldn't deter my disgust at YR's ingratitude toward JS's (and the VIP team's) hospitality and intent on sabotaging JS's and SJ's marriage. I may have more to say about YR's characterization and trajectory, but I'll probably post them in my subsequent posts (most likely after the drama ends, but who knows).

That concludes Part 3 of my ranting of this week's episodes (and the overall drama progression).

Have a great weekend, Soompiers!

Hi all-- in the short heart clenching ep 15 preview YURI says " what do I do?" call 911 B!!!!! Someone just fell a flight of stairs period.  Its always hot and steamy 10 seconds in for cheaters after that what do you really have in common-misery, lies, illegitimacy, pity, none are healthy emotions that sustainable.   The scene in ep 14 at the task force meeting where she is literally looking completely lost  and SJ sees her uselessness was priceless. The pity party may be coming to an end.  Best ending is our heroine JS lets go on her healing timeline and these two stay together but with a huge divide that haunts them for the rest of their lives.  Every time SJ sees anything good he will be reminded of the life he had built and destroyed all on his own with JS and realizes too late what he lost. Yuri in turn will have to be witness to his distance and fake smile.   I see JS hanging the baby mobile on her own in a room as a symbol of her new beginnings.

Just saying sigh....

i know pyo ye jin as actress since the doctor (kim rae won, park shin ye drama), i watched her too in wolgyesu taylor (she met her ex in this drama), she got her first FL in drama love return (with Lee sung yeol-member of infinite). so far her acting cant impress me. but i never mind seeing her drama.

she got many curses too because her role in vip. saw her name was above jnr in 10 buzzworthy actor/actress last week (she is no 3 jnr no4), so i think she will be nominated as best new coming actress in sbs drama award on 31 december. sometimes the award just based on ratings and popularity. i really hope jnr got daesang this year but her competitor is kim nam gil who popular and already got many awards this year through sbs  high rating drama fiery priest. but still hope sbs will give 2 daesang this year because last year sbs gived 2 daesang too. LOL

As for PSJ character, I am not convinced what he did to his wife was for her own safety and good. He has been doing the dirty deeds for so long, why didn't he "think" for her then but only after she found out about his affair? I personally don't think his character was done right in term of storyline, directing and acting. This character has so much room to develope.

As I mentioned early on, this character has no moral compass. He is a con man.

Sorry to hear that. Each of us deals with stress differently. Some choose yoga (like watching happy comedy) while others choose kickboxing (like watching dramatic intense thriller).

But I guess I have watched way too many years of dramas to let any of them affect me tremendously. Dramas teach us theories but life is where we practice them. I'd rather save the energy preparing for any hardships throw my way in real life.

I ache for NJS, admire HA for being strong and face her attacker, and happy for MN that she has a supportive husband. I agree about his character.  Probably the lamest one ever written for a ml.

Yes, please cut her some slack. She is not the person she’s playing. If it were me and I was acting with LSY I would be giddy.

Reminder

- I have kept silent about this for quite long , but I think to be fair to Lee Sang Yoon’s fans here on Soompi ( and fans  of any other actors / actresses) pls separate character from actor . Actually on many other threads , I would have gotten a lot of reports on  the criticism / negative comments of the main lead’s acting or real life personality etc  , and that  would definitely have led to fan wars . I appreciate his fans here on Soompi for keeping cool about the less than favourable comments about their bias. If one of your biases received these kind of comments, it will hurt .

- So I ask that we just focus on the characters in this drama . Please , even the young actress  playing YR is just doing her job & don’t read into the BTS too much  ( If you watch k dramas Long enough, you will realise  the BTS are just to boost ratings .)   Given the character she’s playing , the actress will naturally get hate from viewers ,  but for her it’s her job & a way to grow her career . Let’s not link her personal life to this drama . Don’t say groundless things , make speculations & snide remarks .

Thank you. :D

@DL Wetherill

Speaking of Lee Sang Yoon who I love. I watched the Master in the House episode from New Zealand last night. The boat/fishing part of the showwas packed with wonderful Lee Sang Yoon moments.

It was so great to see him be the star for once. The others kinda overshadow him.Did you notice someone on the boat said, ”You are awesome Sang Yoon” and his response was, “ No we are awesome.”?

My second favorite episode was the time when he danced the paso doble.

@Banshee Dragon

love it. You are so creative. As long as YR does not wind up with SJ I will consider it a happy ending.

Since I have to wait until next week to see the final episodes of VIP,  I have written my own ending.  Here goes:

After discovering SJ’s dirty deeds, being stressed to the point that it is making her ill, and after falling down the stairs, JS decides that holding on to SJ out of anger is not worth it.  JS gives SJ the divorce,  steps away from the executives' drama, and concentrates on healing herself mentally and physically.

SJ proposes to YR who says yes.  SJ asks for a wedding date, but YR strings SJ along knowing that VP, his family and matchmaker are in the background selecting a suitable husband for her based on her new status.  Neither YR or VP tells SJ about it.

SJ, JS and both teams are in a meeting when everyone gets a phone notification.  JS tells SW to turn on the TV.  The news anchor announces that YR is engaged to the son of a conglomerate. Everyone looks at SJ and YR in surprise, then, congratulates YR.  A shocked and humiliated SJ adjourns the meeting.

YR explains to SJ in her “I’m so pitiful and helpless” way, that she has to marry the conglomerate’s son because of her new status and pressure from the VP.  YR assures SJ that she still loves him and in the same breath, asks SJ to sign a non-disclosure agreement about their affair and his dirty dealings at work.  YR tells SJ that it is a merger marriage and asks SJ to stay by her side even after she gets married.  In other words, she asks SJ to be her "mistress," . . . or is it her "mister” B)?  SJ stares at YR in disbelief.

Later, SJ all alone, sad, pitiful, depressed, and remorseful has flashbacks about his filthy work life, his dirty affair with YR and the life he lost with JS.  His mother’s words haunt him and shakes him deeply to his core.

SJ goes to JS and begs her to please talk to him.   SJ who is on his knees, gives JS a sincere, heartfelt apology for all the pain he caused her and asks for forgiveness.  They eventually have an honest discussion about how they ended up where they are.  JS does not forgive SJ, but she does advise SJ to talk to a professional, and wishes him well.

In the meantime, Ex-director Bae exposes SJ and YR’s affair to the media!  The conglomerate’s son calls off the engagement with YR because of the scandalous affair.  YR tries to contact SJ, but he won’t take her calls or see her.  The VP and family forces YR to leave town in shame and the VP forces SJ to resign from the company.  On his way out, SJ gives Chairwoman HA the shares of the company in his name and tells her about the VP’s mistress who also has shares.  The chairwoman gets the shares and forces the VP to step down.

SJ lives with regret while longing for JS from afar.  JS is at peace.  She and her team move up in the company and JS moves on with her life.  JS never looks back at SJ.  THE END.

This kind of ending will make me happy. :)

To pass the time & to ease my "drama-driven" aching heart, I have assigned myself the tasks of "judge, jury & sentence-carry-outer. Just in case you don't know, a sentence-carry-outer is a new post of the courts; her/his/my job is to make absolutely sure the sentence is carried out. So to prepare myself for the latter, I have researched viable penitentiaries around the world (via Inside the World's Toughest Prisons on Netflix) for SJ, VP & Director Bae.

Rendering of the decision of my court:

Subject to the laws of each individual country, it is the judgement of my court

  1. Ordered and adjudged that the defendants are sentenced to serve a term of imprisonment in Costa La Reforma Prison for a term of no less than 25 years.
  2. Ordered and adjudged that "birds of a feather flock together" & taking into consideration their surreptitious dealings in the workplace, the said defendants will serve the entire 25 years in "the pit", considered to be the worst of the worst.

The defendants are hereby committed to the custody of the Department of Corrections of Costa Rica  for execution of this sentence as provided by law.

NOTE; This is entirely a work of fiction, not to be confused with any living person alive or dead.

At Banshee Dragon: how long have you worked at VIP? Jk it would be the more mature and pay back is a b@#$%& ending.  I'm down for it... I will be traveling for the holidays so look forward to catching up on all our predictions soon.

Has the irony not been lost on everyone that SJ mom was a mistress who broke up a family and lived a life of regret and this character SJ works for a pig chaebol doing the same dirty work his mother experienced.  WTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not that I understand but how to do you explain I work for a pig and I am a hugely flawed pig liar myself to your perfect spouse who believes your are warm, kind and upright? Seriously...….
