Namgoong Min Turns Into A Charismatic Surgeon For Upcoming Medical Drama

Upcoming KBS drama “Doctor Prisoner,” starring Namgoong Min as the lead actor, has released a new set of stills!

The medical suspense drama tells the story of a genius doctor at a big hospital who gets kicked out and starts a new job as a prison’s medical director. Namgoong Min will play the role of Nah Yi Jae, a doctor with exceptional skills and a kind heart who prioritizes his patients above everything else. After getting involved in an unfortunate incident, he ends up leaving his job at the hospital and starts his new life working at a prison medical department.

In the released photos, Namgoong Min is in the middle of surgery sporting blue scrubs. It is a delicate surgical operation that can directly lead to a lost life if a mistake is made, so he is extremely focused. His keen eyes fill the operating room with tension and make the viewers hold their breaths.

After the surgery, Namgoong Min remains vigilant and gives instructions to the staff. His sharp charisma is infinitely amplifying expectations for his first doctor role. In another photo, Namgoong Min performs CPR and looks determined to save the patient. He deserves the title of “ace doctor,” which is not just due to his excellent scalpel skills, but also due to his different sense of mission as a doctor who always struggles to save lives.

 

Before the official filming started, Namgoong Min meticulously rehearsed the scene where he receives surgical tools with actual nurses. In particular, the actor made extraordinary efforts to accurately implement hand motions to deal with various medical devices used for actual surgery, including monitoring the surgical images of professional medical personnel.

The production crew praised, “Namgoong Min’s passion for acting is always admired by his fellow actors and staff.”

The drama also released stills of Namgoong Min with Park Eun Suk. Park Eun Suk plays Lee Jae Hwan, the second son of Taekang Group’s CEO.

In the photos, the two actors are in the middle of an argument. Amid growing curiosity about why Park Eun Suk visited Namgoong Min, Park Eun Suk is raising the level of tension with his cold eyes that are widely open. Viewers are wondering why Park Eun Suk trespassed into the restricted area and what Namgoong Min did to get on his bad side.

In the latest stills for KBS 2TV’s upcoming drama “Doctor Prisoner,” Hello Venus’s Nara exudes poise in her role as a psychiatrist.

“Doctor Prisoner” is a prison-medical suspense drama about the genius doctor Nah Yi Jae (played by Namgoong Min) who, after expulsion from a major hospital, becomes the medical director at a prison.

Nara plays the psychiatrist Han So Geum, who works at Taekang Hospital, where Nah Yi Jae used to work. For “Doctor Prisoner,” Nara sheds some of her chic image to transform into a talented and passionate doctor who cares for her patients’ welfare beyond the confines of her office.

“Doctor Prisoner” stars Namgoong Min, Hello Venus’s Nara, Kim Byung Chul, and Choi Won Young. The drama tells the story of genius doctor Na Yi Jae (played by Namgoong Min) who gets kicked out of a large hospital and gets involved in a lethal fight after finding a job as the medical director of a prison.

In the poster, a faceless prisoner’s hands are tightly tied with a rope. The end of the rope turns into a thin string, and it is unclear whether the gloved hand is using the forceps to cut the string or tighten it further.

KBS’s “Doctor Prisoner” has released its main teaser!

“Doctor Prisoner” stars Namgoong Min, Hello Venus’s Nara, Kim Byung Chul, and Choi Won Young. The drama tells the story of genius doctor Na Yi Jae (played by Namgoong Min) who gets kicked out of a large hospital and gets involved in a lethal fight after finding a job as the medical director of a prison.

The thrilling teaser goes back and forth from Namgoong Min as a dedicated doctor who saves lives to a vengeful doctor who thirsts for revenge. The caption states, “Doctor: a person whose job is to cure a disease.”

Namgoong Min is seen doing surgery on someone and using a defibrillator to desperately save a life. Then the scene suddenly switches to him stabbing someone’s neck.

First teaser trailer and teaser poster for upcoming KBS2 drama series “Doctor Prisoner” starring Namgung Min and Kwon Na-Ra (“HELLOVENUS”). The first teaser trailer features Namgung Min as Na Yi-Je. The teaser trailer shows captions in Korean around the 4 second mark which states “Doctor: A person whose job is to treat diseases.” At the 15 second mark, caption then states “When doctor goes to prison.”

Namgoong Min deals in dark bargains in KBS’s Doctor Prisoner

There’s just something oddly appealing about an antihero, isn’t there? We’ve got our first look at Namgoong Min (Handsome Guy and Jung-eum) as a former surgeon in KBS’s prison thriller Doctor Prisoner, and there’s definitely a dark edge to our doctor hero according to the show’s recently released teaser.

The clip starts with Namgoong Min hard at work as a surgeon with his star on the rise, followed by a somewhat superfluous dictionary meaning of ‘doctor:’ a person whose job it is to cure illnesses. Things take a downturn when a patient can’t be revived despite the efforts of nurses with defibrillators, and the next thing we see, Namgoong Min stabs an unknown man with a scalpel to his neck. Well, that escalated pretty quickly.

I wonder whether that short scene has something to do with the doctor’s career change, since there’s a definite sense of demotion, going from a hotshot surgeon at a large hospital to a member of a prison medical unit. Namgoong Min strolls through his new workplace, as the captions read, “When a doctor goes to prison…” He stops in front of a cell, which holds Kang Shin-il (Room No. 9), and offers a spine-chilling deal: “I’ll release you. If you can withstand pain that will make you wish you were dead.” Yikes.

I’m a little sad we haven’t gotten a look at some of the other members of this enviable cast, especially SKY Castle alums Choi Won-young and Kim Byung-chul, but I’ll guess we’ll just have to sit tight until we get some more teasers. KBS’s Doctor Prisoner will premiere on March 20.
