Cha mentioned that it is not due to his lack of ambition when he rejected the role of Prime Minister, it is rather he understand the mindset of the voters, so he chose to reject the offer. Furthermore, he could use his expertise if he is a Defense Minister.

The role of PM is more focus on administration but as Defense Minister OYS will be responsible for all the military branches of SK.

Seeing the wounds on his body OYS may have suffered badly probably tortured too and his comrades perished during the conflict with NK at Baengyeong. My thinking is if OYS's is planning a revenge against NK being the head of Defense will be his priority.

Some thoughts on ep7. I thought NIS's security  was rather lax. They went to the trouble to bring MHJ back and even lost a man but his detention site was compromised. But that was necessary for whats to follow.

I like the way PMJ dealt with Chief Ahn and Mayor Kang. He uses Chief Ahn to counter Mayor Kang and at the same time YCK at the same time, even Sec Cha didn;t expect it.

Waiting for ep8

I thought if taking out OYS from the equation its both good and bad that PMJ asks the NIS agent to report directly. Sometimes I keep forgetting the BH team know so little compared to HNK and her superior.

Love that move from PMJ thats very smooth from him. He has his own unique ideas to achieve stuff, even if he may be an outsider to politics.

Edit:I used to thought that OYS wants power for his own, but the scene with Yun mades me think that revenge is part of the equation.

The Mayor of Seoul makes me break into laughter with his mannerisms.

I loved how President Park maneuvered the whole non-party cabinet election and presidential election. Loved how his wife and him mirrored each others body language while they had their little discussion. Undoubtedly she helped him a lot.

I have so many thoughts but I wanna watch episode 8 first. But Agent HNG going to Seongjin Party's  President Yun with info, undoubtedly has put her life at risk I feel.

There is more than one leak in the blue house and the NIS.

I'm leaning more to the fact that Han Joo-Seung new more than he's letting on.  The talk with sec Cha asking if he found the winner and assuming it was assemblyman OH Yeong Seok was suspicious.  And what was OH painting suppose to mean.? all the yellow and black. ? IT had to mean something.

Yun however looks only a power hungry woman. I actually think that she didn't know about anything the bombing but I could be totally wrong.

Some thoughts on EP8

NIS plotline pick up in pace. And Agent Han realises that MOD is comprises when Oh is elected. And I think he wants to raise Park's suspicions. And it works. Park Dae couldnt quell his own suspicions.

With regards to Sec Cha, his reason for supporting Park Dae is actually two folds instead of one which he admits to Sec Jeong -He wants a good man who can win to be elected as president.  Sec Cha maybe somewhat manipulative in wanting to win(love the hilarious quarrel with An on their reliability) but he wants the good man to win thats for sure.

Romance is definetely blooming at least from Sec Cha perspective. I believe he never even discloses that the other reason he choses Park dae over eg Oh to Advisor Han. Why else he will confess it to Sec Jeong?

Edit: Re Yun. She is not a person to compromise national interest over such length(although she will use it to her advantage). She will not have talked about it to Park dae for poltical reasons alone as her evidence are not concrete.

After watching Ep 8, I am almost certain that OYS involved in the bombing. Either he has someone backing him up or he is the mastermind all along.

I also know he has to do with the sudden confession of Agent Jeong Han Mo and the accident involving Han Na Gyeong. This drama keeps getting us confused on who is the culprit and mastermind.

omg! Tae Ik is OYS's tailor and the NIS boss has just be recruited. Its getting interesting.

@liltash85 I'm sure there is someone in the highest echelon of power who is the mastermind and they must have threatened Agent Han Mo to confess he was MHJ's killer.

Now that the investiture is postponed OYS is making his move by revealing the scandals of the previous cabinet and PMJ is caught here. I wonder if the pic his son found of PMJ's wife and another man has anything to do with it.

Monday is too long a wait!

Sec Han is still top of my list for mastermind.  I just watched Ep7, yet to watch Ep 8.  What he said to Sec Cha about why he came back was giving me weird vibes.  When Cha asked him why he came back, his reply was VERY odd.  He said, “Do you really think an election can change the world?  It merely changes the owner of the Blue House.”  That’s very strange.  He sounds like he’s chiding Cha for being deluded.  His tone wasn’t one of a tired politician who is resigned, it was of one berating a younger colleague for being naive. What’s in it for him (Sec Han) then if he thinks it’s “same old, same old”?  Why bother if he thinks nothing’s going to change?  His words seems to imply he has a different political agenda.  He doesn’t believe the existing system as is will enact the change he wants to see.  He actually reminds me of Oh, except on a higher level and less obvious.  They both seem to want a Korea that the current system and government they believe can’t and won’t deliver.  Cha then asks him, “why did you come back then?” His reply is ominous, “The President wanted me to finish what I started”.  I guess it could mean him putting PMJ in the hot seat but it could also be something bigger?  And then he adds, “Have you found the next Presidential candidate?  The one who will win? Is it Oh?”  Cha doesn’t reply.  Why would Han seed that thought in Cha?  When Cha reveals in his conversation later with SooJong and Sec Han, “I think I have found him.  The winner.  The man who will win” and he walks off to find PMJ, Sec Han is inscrutable.  Shouldn’t he have been happy?  Relieved?  Yet there he was, if anything he looked annoyed?  Something’s not right with Sec Han.

I loved the dynamic between PMJ and his wife.  Behind every good man is a good woman.  They talk.  They support each other.  She doesn’t return in kind when he snaps at her about mundane things like whether he wants to eat first or not.  She knows it’s not a personal attack on her.  Her question was just the outlet for his bottled up frustration.  She helps him dissect his worries.  On the marital bed, shoes off (no longer Cinderella man, just her man).  They are a team.  I like how he’s no longer squirming in his Presidential shoes.  He’s striding confidently whenever the camera pans in on them.  The shoe is fitting better than it was before the bombing.  :D

@nrlleeI thought he was referring to PMJ said that he is the one who suggest PMJ to President Yang and Advisor Han speaks as a man who is burn out from  politics, and his words for me suggested that Sec Cha is way too optimistic about election could change the country.

I am happy if you can ellaborate/refute why it isnt so.

Son Seok Koo update on ins. Looks like a photo for DS60?

@nrllee sec Han's actions right from day of the bombing till now doesn't strike me as being the mastermind. To me his more of a loyalist, loyal to Pres Yang. Maybe he was frustrated with the system but i don;t think it was to a point of killing innocent lives.

Just somethings i found odd though, maybe its just me reading to much into it. On the day of the bombing PMJ was immediately escorted back to the BH. I thought that was rather quick, did they already verify that all the ministers had perished in the bombing before bringing in PMJ? In ep1 when sec Cha was escorting PMJ to meet with sec Han after the bombing, one of the staff stopped him to ask sec Cha about how to treat the deceased and he told him to ask the Minister of Veterans Affairs. I thought that all the ministers had perished.  Maybe it had slipped sec Cha's mind in all the commotion.

Did the mastermind really planned to use Article 71 of the Constitution? Whom ever planned the bombing knew that all the cabinet ministers will be present at the President's state of the union address they had created the bunker shelter so OYS would survived  but they did not know that PMJ was fired at the last moment.

NIS Agent Han Na-Kyung's data analyst Seo Jiwon seems to have a very big crush on her and I feel she is aware of it but don't want to bring it out and get awkward with him. But how did she end up on his doorstep was it really Junho who brought her there or is he stalking her. Why do I have this unsettled feeling towards him. The first thought that came to my mind was has she been kidnapped?.

Her senior Agent Jeong Hanmo (JHM) was sitting there spaced out watching the OYS getting confirmed as a candidate . She should have noted how unanimated he was. I was feeling that someone was going to kill him with that long corridor walk they showed but alas it's worse than death he is a zombie now!
And now her boss is compromised. She can't trust Madam Yun for now. So how do she get to the Blue House.

Even if OYS is removed the shadowy antagonist (organization) will not slow down coz it has seeped into all areas of the infrastructure, it seems!
----------------------
What is the scandal going to be? Will it involve Park Siwan? Suddenly that picture he saw came in to mind and I fear!!!

EDIT: PS. This shadowy nefarious organization has done a very thorough job of fear-mongering it seems! lol

It’s just the way he said it just seemed more like he was scolding Cha rather than just being tired and resigned.   And his reaction (or lack of) when Cha swung to PMJ’s side as being the winning candidate at the end of Ep7.  Instead of looking relieved that he had finally come to his senses, he didn’t look pleased?

Then there’s that photo of his son (presumably dead).  What’s the story there?  How did he feel after his death?

He was the one who recruited PMJ into Parliament in the first place.  Why would he do that if he thought he wasn’t suitable for politics?  Did he plan it all along?  Knowing PMJ would really only be happy to be a seat warmer but what he didn’t plan was for him to rise up and become a genuine contender for the Presidential race.

It just feels like he’s just been there at key important junctures one too many times.

Anyway I could be totally wrong and barking up the wrong tree of course.

@triplem i am thinking the same thing, that PMJ is not SW's real dad. The only reason PMJ was having that worried looked when sec Cha was querying him was because he's afraid SW will find out and not for anything scandalous.

I believe Agent Han's superior Han Mo was definitely threatened, remember PMJ said that he has a family if they had killed HM it would have raised suspicion so they probably used his family.

The one who had that truck of doomed after Agent Han is probably Ms Yun's aide only two of them knew she was on the way to the hearing. He was also with OYS when he was recovering in the hospital.

No worries, I just want some brain twisters and I think you said his lack of reaction is intended now thinking about it.

There is this other scene where an assistant is talking to him on PMJ public support. And anyone knew a bit about film making is that no extra scenes are there for nothing. One time may be an accident but twice or more? It has to be intentional. His nonchalance is noted by cinematography and actor's interpretation for more than once.

Let's see, you have score a good point there.

Now evidences for OYS (I think its almost confirmed), summarised from you guys @triplem

  • Footage of him going to room 119
  • The tailor guy (Tae Ilk) = kills NK Suspect = try to kill Agent HNK
  • OYS tells PMJ that Agent Han’s fiancé was also a victim of the bombing which is strange because I don’t remember anyone knowing about it   --> This one is great, didnt catch that one out
  • the recruitment of NIS boss who wants to meet the VIP.

Lesser/not conclusive

  • His former soldiers looks like they are willing to die for him
  • He must know Yun stalling him is to reveal him as involved in bombing

So what's OYS role in the bombing? Main culprit? One of the chief planners?

  • He must be higher up/more well respected than NIS boss as the tailor guy retorts NIS yet does not in OYS case.
  • OYS is very level headed, hiding his motivations when he talks with Park and others in general, but he is unusually not that level headed when he talks with Yun on the battle. That must be one of the reasons

There are some other points which we must not forget

  • Someone stole HNK fiance's phone which contains bombing plans
  • Someone who knew HNK well calls her (either as a trap or as evidence)
  • NK guy's dying message
  • How does Han Na Kyung's disappearance is noted?
  1.  She escaped from NIS quarters with hoohah. It is not reported to BH for such high profile case
  2. HNK believed that Yun is involved but that might be red herring. Even if NIS is not in cahoots with OYS, her repetitive insistence to stall his appointment will ring alarm bells
  3. Additionally, its not possible for Tae IIlk and OYS to act alone, or just both of them with NK guy. There must be someone higher up in NIS/military who are able to control. And it has to be someone who has years in the system.

@jenappelle lol! Kim Nam Wook so pleased that Sec Jeong praised him . Hmm potential love triangle there ?? :lol:But noticed Cha does not understand the idea of personal space - he was practically inches away from Jeong’s face when telling her how exasperated he was . Actually the poor guy never had a proper chance to mourn the previous president since it’s been non stop since the bombing . He’s a great Chief Secretary who completely understands 1st hand how things work & I know he’s desperate to have the right person fill the role of the President’s seat. tvN hit jackpot by casting SSK in this role because he completely owns it .

Lmao I didnt think Kim Nam Wook is such a persuasive type and easily turn his head. HanJu tv follks (a chinese streaming app) is having a field day over this. That adds a hilarious comedic turn on both of their relationship after Cha teasing him all the time.

@triplemYeah that was damn close to her face. I cant imagine him doing it to even Han. In EP7 in his confession even in his excitement and swagness he kept his distance. I noticed that in EP1 he is very very stoic post bombing and unlike others he never even shed a tear or mourn so his confession to Jeong is extra special? Cos he kept his deepest opinions to himself, despite him sharing with Han on his goal on finding a candidate, and never confesses about the other reason. No wonder he never seems enamored with Oh.

And yes, he is finding for someone that he could use his skills on. Something he could work for it wholeheartedly. And his acting skills are incredible and not-manufactured at all . Such a raw performance. Him breaking down on his stoic outlook. And instead of acting typically angry he is just heartbroken. And yes TVN hits a jackpot, maybe that's why they keep putting his promo lmao.

I think PMJ may join the election? Plot wise its not as satisfying (For a thriller genre) for him to say he wants to be a President before 10 days of election. In terms of character growth its very abrupt if he told Cha that he wants to be a real President in EP8.

With regards to what's PMJ scandal, is Cha statement in the trailer a misdirection? It feels like its far more bigger than that (but definitely I agree the boy's parentage is something they will explore)

Edit: Bonus
