Spoiler Like what i have said before, after binge watch raw eps last weeks ago, i am still happy with the ending, although we dont have Lu Ping and Qin Sang a happy ending, but i think her death is so special, luping's memories of her, turns out creating new Force of Memory, the legendary force for Lu Ping. I am also happy that Mo Lin n Su Tang get a happy ending, even Guo Wushu will get Mrs. Jin LOL. Yan XiFan get new family name, the same as Emperor Zhai. Ling Ziyan become princess, and they get happy ending together. I think i like the pre-planned tricks, since this drama is counted as youth genre, so i believe using fresh new ideas and tricks to beat bad guys are very reasonable. It is like mission imposibble style, love it! So at the end... Remembering that the novel havent finished yet, and the author Blue Butterfly himself help writing the script, yeah i really like it! The songs and background music is so freaking suitable for each scenes! Even the action background music is so good! Just hate the visual effect LOL and Ling ZiYan character (again) LOL. Luping provoke Qinsang to stab him with her sword. 2nd, 3rd? When? Cant remember. 4th unlock when luping fought Zhou YiLong after General Qin Ci died. 5th unlock when luping tried to save Qin Sang in under water prisoner, she was trapped inside with stones. 6th in Zhai Feng Institute under the lake. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Overall Thoughts Sooo…. I don’t know about how everyone felt about this drama, but I felt that it was sooooo long. I mean, I did enjoy watching it, but it started to feel draggy from the middle towards the end of the drama. The beginning of the drama was really good. It was fun watching Lu Ping learn to trust his comrades (other than Su Tang) and build his brotherhood with Yan Xi Fan. Of course, it also hurt to see him reject Yan Xi Fan’s kindness a few times, but it was so heartwarming when Lu Ping finally turned around and accepted Yan Xi Fan as his best friend. And I loved the friendship between Lu Ping, Yan Xi Fan, Su Tang, and Mo Lin. Their friendship made me enjoy the drama a lot, but when they separated, it kind of got a little all over the place. I mean, the novel that this drama is based off is pretty long and there are a lot of things that are happening to Lu Ping and his friends (including separation). And I know the drama tried to include as many scenes as they could from the novel to try to help the story move forward, but you can easily get lost if you don’t pay attention what’s really happening. And it doesn’t help that so many characters and places get introduced later on. So if I were to talk about the good points in this drama, the first would be, by far, Lu Ping. He is really what makes the drama amazing because of his bad boy attitude. Granted, Chen Fei Yu is still a young and up-and-coming actor, but you have to admit that he’s already making a grand impression with his presence in his dramas. Just like Ever Night, I think Chen Fei Yu performed pretty well in this drama. II mean, he’s definitely got the badass attitude down. If he continues going at this rate, I think his career in acting will jut continue to flourish and Chen Fei Yu would, in no time, be one of the most sought-after actors out there. As for the other characters… I’ve always like Dylan Xiong, but I had a love and hate relationship with Yan Xi Fan. I loved how dedicated he was to Lu Ping and how he has a kind heart, but the guy could not stop being indecisive throughout the drama. I mean, we start with him being tormented by the death of his friend, which is why he tries so hard to protect Lu Ping so that he wouldn’t lose someone else dear to him. But you’d think after he overcame this, he’d grow into a much better person. Yet, that’s not exactly what happens because Yan Xi Fan becomes pretty useless and indecisive when there are moments that he really needs to have a backbone. I won’t go into much detail, but I just felt that I’d get more from his character since he’s supposedly the second lead. Honestly, I think I like Su Tang and Mo Lin much more than I did Yan Xi Fan (sorry Dylan Xiong!). They both are not only solely dedicated to Lu Ping, but don’t hesitate to stand up for him despite the situation. Granted Yan Xi Fan would be going against his father and high powers if he were to stand beside Lu Ping, but I think that Su Tang and Mo Ling’s unwavering loyalty towards Lu Ping was much better portrayed in the drama. And now let’s just briefly mention the two not so cool characters—Qin Sang and Ling Zi Yan. Ironically, they’re both the female partners of Lu Ping and Yan Xi Fan. Before I go into detail, I am absolutely not bashing on these actresses or their acting performances. I am merely referring to their characters in the drama. I know I said I didn’t like Qin Sang’s character in my First Impression, and I still stand by it. She does redeem herself a bit towards the end by protecting Lu Ping and supporting him. But she’s still quite annoying and really more of an obstacle for him than someone who can support him. As for Ling Zi Yan… This girl… I. Did. Not. Like Her. She has absolutely no good qualities other than probably make Qin Sang look much better. Honestly, I do pity Ling Zi Yan. She was a maid and was treated horribly due to her low status. I don’t blame her for being a bit naïve, but she honestly does not make the most logical choices. Like, when she persuaded Mo Lin to sacrifice himself to bloom the poisonous flower for Lu Ping in Yan Xi Fan’s stead. Yes, she wanted to protect the person who she loves, but she always uses the excuse that Yan Xi Fan is the only who ever cared about her and protected her. BUT how does she forget that Lu Ping, Mo Lin, Su Tang, Guo You Dao, and Chu Min all did their best to protect her when she was kicked out of the Qin Manor and almost killed by Qin Qi. I can understand her inferiority complex with Qin Sang, but I just can’t comprehend how horrible she can treat the others. She’s only grateful towards Yan Xi Fan (and sometimes Lu Ping), that she forgets that Su Tang and Mo Lin also did a lot for her. So, honestly, when Lu Ping yells at her for not caring about Mo Lin and Su Tang, it’s totally justified and I would’ve opted for him to be even more harsh to her. Anyway… I want to forget about these two girls for a second and focus on other important characters. While there are quite a lot of characters to remember in this drama, I think these supporting characters are very important because it is their stories that affect our leads. I think the one who stands out the most to me is Liu Song. He was a previous member of the Beidou Academy and a prince of Dan. Because of Yan Qiu Ci’s betrayal and Zhai Rong’s usurpation, Liu Song not only loses his new home at Beidou, but his country falls and he becomes disabled. Liu Song eventually becomes resentful and becomes the leader of the Shanhai Gang in order to get his revenge. In a sense, Liu Song is the shadow of Lu Ping. He is what Lu Ping could have become should have chosen the path of hate and revenge. But, being the male lead, Lu Ping chooses to not live for revenge, but live for himself. When he realizes this, it becomes a turning point in his character because Lu Ping is finally able to come to terms with his resentment and hatred that he’s held for such a long time. Although it came much later that expected, I was glad that we were able to see him turn a new leaf, make up with his friends, and grow up BEFORE the final battle. And speaking of the final battle… I am sooooooooo happy that the final battle included the original four from the Zhai Feng Institute—Lu Ping, Yan Xi Fan, Mo Lin and Su Tang. It started with them fighting and competing together for their academy, and it ended with them finishing their final mission with each other. I was so worried that it’d be hard for them to come together after being separated throughout half of the drama. But I couldn’t hold back how happy I was when they all teamed up to defeat Liu Song. I mean, it brought back all the vibes from the first beginning of the drama (which were the parts that I enjoyed watching the most), and it felt so nostalgic and heartwarming. Overall, I think this drama has its good and bad points. It’s not a perfect drama, as there are things that I didn’t quite like about it. BUT I would say that it’s still a good youth drama. Yes, it’s draggy and sometimes certain side stories take toooooo long to watch and you just want to get to the point. But it’s fun watching the adventure unfold and see new characters appear, disappear, and later reappear again. Not to mention, you honestly do keep having to guess who is the true bad guy everyone now and then because when you think the ultimate bad guy appears, it turns out that there’s another one right behind him. It got annoying after a while, but it helped make the story more interesting. It also definitely helped with forcing Lu Ping to grow up. Yes, it was sad to watch him be betrayed one after another (seriously, I don’t blame this guy for having trust issues after how many people lied to and betrayed him in this drama), but it’s all really to help him learn to not hold onto his hate and let go for the greater good. Unlike Liu Song, Lu Ping decides that he doesn’t want to live a life of hatred. All he wants is to live. He wants to live for himself. He wants a normal life and to be able to have his own freedom. No matter what I still dislike Zi Yan for her betrayal till the end. She don't understand or don't want to understand the foursome comradeship at all and she's too selfish. It's as if everyone's sacrifices for her were taken for granted. I'm glad Lu Ping was not alone but have both Su Tang and Mo Lin to accompany him living an ordinary life that he desired whilst fulfilling Qin Sang's wish to protect the Shuo people when he is needed. There are specialist skill in each force. although luping finally has all seven forces, but i dont think he mastered each of the specialist skill like broken mark in spirit soul force and temperature in pivot force. But yeah he can use it, he once use spirit soul force to Wen Rui. I wonder if they will make the sequel, Lu Ping journey as the King of Bandit...
