I'm dreading this weekend to come... I mean it's the weekend but ALML is my life right now! :(

*Ottoke...*

Something interesting also came to my mind when I watched the death scene of Matil again. I think she saw something or someone since she couldn't see the Angels to save JKW. Or someone must've lifted, dragged, or pushed her in front of JKW. I don't think the black angel shot her but who knows. Maybe I'm just overthinking but something doesn't look or feel right.

I would love this theory to be true!

But i fear it might expand too much the complexity of Kang Woo's  storyline and the outcome possible for it to be an option.

For now with the infos that we got, it doesn't  really fits the fact that the scene was shot in a very direct and straight way: we had large plans which made clear than there was only the 4 of them in the scene, nobody could have hide behind the pillars.

Kang Woo had his eyes close because he would have protected Mathilde and died in her place otherwise. Mathilde was really afraid and wanted to be closer to him, he warned her few times to stay away: its seems logical that she approached him at the wrong moment when he was silent and eyes closed, ready to receive his punishment. Also the angels used a magical gun that disappeared from the scene.

They were supposed to take what the deity give to Kang Woo:  he was convinced that their love was a gift from the deity.

If someone else witnessed the scene and pushed her, then  it means that their love story might have provoked anger (jealousy too?) from another being than  the deity. That a bad guy might be lurking in the shadow since then  waiting to hurt Kang Woo again if he gets closer to someone connected to Mathilde and looking like her.

I think JKW's fall was his arrogance just like Devil. Dan knows he is pretty much screwed now that he is in love. He is still trying to keep himself in check and fears God. But Kang Woo assumed it was God's will that he met Matilda and fell in love. He assumed God would accept his giving up his mission (unsure about this though) and powers. Did he sincerely ask for his forgiveness for straying from his intended path, did he seek his approval? Also we know Yeon Seo is living borrowed life, what about Matilda. Is it the same for her or did she die exactly when she was supposed to?? For all we know, maybe Matilda was always fated to die protecting the love of her life. Also Dan altered Yeon Seo's fate so how much time does she actually have now??

I saw more naivety than arrogance in Kang Woo's attitude: he had strictly no idea of what he was doing and how the deity would react but being a good guy, he believed that the good guys wouldn't hurt him. He seemed to ignore a lot of rules about his own kind for an angel who was around since a long time.

Dan is not considered to be the brightest guy in the room but he seems  more careful and thus better apt at surviving. Also Hu shared Kang Woo's story with him: having a warning is always useful to be prepared.

Excellent question about Yeon Seo timeline now that her fate has been transformed by Dan.

But the drama has ignored this point so far and it doesn't seem that it will  touch it later so i feel it will be a dead end  to try to make more of it without facts from the drama.

I  tried to reconstruct Kang Woo's path after the death of Mathilde but we don't get much informations from the drama: he said that he was a ballet director since 10 years, which means that during 5 years after her death, he did really nothing with his life and was still mourning her. Then 10 years ago, something happened: He might have heard of Yeon Seo at that time and saw her pics and decided  to make a promise to Mathilde:  create a version of Giselle that her doppelganger could play.

I don't know why he didn't reach Yeon Seo earlier, before she lost her sight.

The last three years, he might have been in touched with someone close to her trying to find a solution to give her back her eyes. Potentially  Mr Jo: the little detail about Yeon Seo crying and hiding because she didn't want to do ballet was more likely coming from him. He seemed the only one in her staff  old  enough and close enough from her to know stories about her childhood.

Maybe someone else is still helping him inside: the one who sent Dan's CV.

I hope for more flasbacks about him and also  between Mathilde and him to clear things.

Now I just went thru about 15 pages to catch up. I'm out of breath. Such great fans and posts here, and everyone is quite respectful and good at communicating, clearing up misunderstandings when they happen. It's positively heart-warming to see so much invested into this story by so many. Even the disappointments and criticisms are mostly coming from super high expectations, and it feels like we learn much from these moments. With all of us being so absorbed into this and so much energy invested, it's hard to be objective or 'just enjoy the show' I know. But none of us could have it any other way, once we're all addicted to this place, can we? I am grateful to EVERYONE contributing here, truly.

I had an interesting thought - maybe silly to you, but here it goes. When Yeon-Seo under the influence of drugs, goes crazy and lashes out at the pervy patrons (Korean and Japanese alike - all creepers), the obvious balancing act that Fantazia the ballet company must do is to present the finest of arts while balancing the books and paying and keeping the best talents worthy of the reputation it has built up in 20 years. I think for K-dramas (and most all dramas on tv) their 1-hour per night, 2-hours per week format, this is kind of the strait-jacket for which the Fantazia balancing act is a metaphor. In order to keep us the audiences happy and coming back for more, KBS or the producers have to make the story format with peaks and cliff hangers every hour, so that we all must tune into the next episode. So it's difficult to write a book that has 16 chapters, but with a kind of a climax at the end of each chapter (even children's books don't do this, but we dramabook fans need this). So I take most all dramas and drama watching as kind of an inside joke, or a night out to listen to live music at a small club. We love the cozy atmosphere and the energy of the scene and the music, but we have to put up with the cover charges, 2 drinks minimum, the annoying smelly guy drunk and giving you unpleasant looks. But we're there for the performance, and although it only peaks about once every 20 minutes to 45 minutes, we play along and would do it again and again, becoz we're in love with the rhythm guitar player, or whatever! In this analogy, if ALM:L is a fine story with a brilliant idea from the writer's great ferment of imagination ('the ballet'), then one can say that the skinship and the over the top cliff-hangers are the sponsors' requirements for the story to be sellable ('the porn' , in YS's words to the Japanese 'sponsor').

So I come in here, mainly for the porn. No, just kidding. We all come for a number of reasons, but when I watch, I know the part I'm supposed to play, becoz there's an inside joke, and I'm hip, cool and know what's for real and what's the punchline. I don't get upset at the outlandishly jagged peaks and cliffs in the story line, becoz I came in here fully knowing the byline - 'UNPREDICTABLE fantastic heavenly romance'. They have to be un-'predictable' or it ain't k-drama.

So far, I must confess that the last episode (6 or 11-12 half hour format) was the least satisfying story line development wise. I do regret mostly that we don't have more mature nuanced characters in Ni-Na and JKW, so far; perhaps never. I want a bit more worthy opponent to Yeon-Seo than Ni-Na with all her emotional baggage - but perhaps that is closer to real life ballerinas than I am aware of? I hope not. That would be such a drag if ballerinas were really like that in real life and less like swans. On the other hand, as a SHS fan, and now a fan of L, the last 2 episodes were the best ever, becoz these are truly talented actors in their zone together and doing amazing things I've not seen before on any screen. The magic!

Welcome back! You've been missed!

Nice theory! The porn part especially ^_^

I don't mind to take the drama as a pure inside joke because it's probably what will end up to be but it makes me wonder why did SHS picked this project: for the efforts she had to put to be in shape and do the ballet scenes? For playing a unlikable heroine? For playing the funeral scenes and the one where she lost her mind at the party?

I'm lost because the concept didn't seem that exciting on the paper, so if she was aware of its limits, i'm surprised by her choice:unsure:

For me, the only thing that Ni Na and Kang Woo are lacking  is screentime for him and for her a proper arc.

But in term of nuances, i think they have plenty of it: they're more relatable, have more realistic reactions than the main leads to the point they look ordinary, almost without depth. It's more contrasting  since they are written in a less chaotic way than Dan and Yeon Seo who  go from one extreme to another very quickly.

Thank you so much for the beautiful  pics and gifs of Kang Woo and Mathilde: they are perfect! Made to be seen on repeat!

Everything from their dance scene literally gave me breath !

The amount of skinship, their smiles, the soft and bright colors, Mathilde's freedom and love for movement, her natural beauty, her hair!

The ring exchange is swoon worthy!

I feel that a shipping post is overdue for them.

And i love the gifset about Kang Woo and Nina!

His line about not being a prince charming is a instant classic!

Love that he said too that he's evil and beyond that she can imagine or handle.

This line is thrilling and worrying at the same time: how much of it is reallly true? :tears:

After reading back thru the thread, most of what I was going to comment on has already been mentioned. But I'll just reiterate some stuff.

So I actually started to have sympathy for a character I don't like, JKW, during Matil's death scene/the confrontation with the 2 angel messengers. Like when he was saying to the angels, why won't the Deity let me love? That's just evil, he pretty much said. Like others had mentioned, I agree the reason for the Deity's decision must have been because JKW not only abandoned his mission but seemingly abandoned the Deity too. Angel Dan seems to still have a close relationship and communication with the Deity, and is working to fulfill his mission. So I really feel like his fate will be different than JKW's. I'm having more confidence of a happy ending between Angel Dan and YS.

I like the idea someone had on here of JKW somehow sacrificing himself for the sake of YS and Angel Dan's love, and therefore getting to enter the afterlife and be with Matil. Right now though he is immortal so not sure how that would happen. And also, he seems to becoming darker and darker. The end of the last ep was so "whoa that dude is scary". However, after watching Matil's death scene, I would like to see JKW have some redemption in the end.

Umm oh someone mentioned the end of the ep where we were shown Angel Dan in the water but not JKW. I wonder if he was able to use his wings to fly away. Maybe we can see what color they are (my guess is black). I also wonder if Dan will use his wings to get out of the water, and that's how JKW will discover he's an angel?

Just some thoughts.

I feel like the writer wrote herself in a corner with that scene because his arguments were right.

Inspiring love and feeling it without having the right to decide for himself who to love and how is pure torture: how do Angels usually endure it without being tempted to give in, while being permanently in contact with humans?:o

Why did Kang Woo fall for it when the others didn't? What made him  confuse love and inspiration like Hu said?

For me, he wasn't confused.

I don't feel like he betrayed the deity: picking love over his mission was still following the path of good. and he was serious about it: Mathilde was his one and only love since he made up his mind and it should stay this way until he finds peace.

Random thoughts:

  • There's a lot of pics around of Dan in a black suit with a new haircut: is he getting a makeover during next episodes?
  • Apperently KMS teased that a lot  of things are happening during this week's episodes  and the second half of the drama.
  • i need the song played during the dance scene at the start of ep 6. It gives me a lot of feels for Kang Woo and Mathilde!

My reason are

1) I think she already received excellence actress and top excellence actress awards which only few actresses received the same at this age. So there's no reason why she's not qualified for Dae-Sang.

2) If KBS wants to praise her more than SBS, then they should give her bigger award than last year.

3) No one is too young for the award if they are really good.

If Lee Jong Suk can win Dae Sang (at MBC award 2016) at age 28, why not Shin Hye Sun ?

4) I think her performance in ALML is beyond spectacular.

Anyway, it's really not my personality to discuss this , and also I tried to avoid discussing about the reason of like/dislike or  why you don't like the same as I like  or why you like something that I don't like.  I'm not trying to persuade anything here, just want to make my point and then move on because I personally believe that likeness/dislikeness are hard-wired in each of us which can be linked to each person's value, taste, past experience, belief.  So it's not possible we can change the way people (and ourselves) feel by just giving or reading comments/opinions.  We have to experience something by ourselves (repeatedly) to re-wire what's in our mind.   Another thing that I learnt is that there are many cups of tea out there for all of us to like/dislike. We have freedom to express our feeling ,but we also have only limited lifetime, so I prefer to choose spending my time to enjoy and appreciate my cup of tea.  If it's not my cup of tea then I just drop that and find another cup, focus too much about the thing we dislike doesn't make it more tasty.

Hope you all find the thing you like.

Like Yeon Seo said, let’s enjoy what we have today because we don’t know what tomorrow will be.

With love and respect

She is 30, I don’t think she is too young to win a Daesang. And I don’t think age matters when it comes to Grand Prize.

They should give it to the one who acts it out that year.

Why should people always agree and see the same thing?

It never happens in real life. For one event, you have as many versions as persons involved. That's how the world works.

I feel like those discussions are making you tense or stressed since you said that you are defending Yeon Seo.:o

It's draining indeed to defend favourites, especially when there no use to do it, since nobody is rigth or have the truth.

That's why i put my previous post with a review of ep 5 and 6 under spoilers tags  and i will do it again for my next posts if i have negative feelings:  if you or any other other YS supporter and shipper of Dan Yeon Seo are troubled again  just know that it will be safe for you to not read them.

There's no obligation to read what you don't like or can't handle.

Like i said, the point is to keep the thread a good experience for everyone.:)

Chill, chingu I'm not tensed or stressed. It's all in the name of healthy and fun discussions. It's never possible for everyone to agree with each other. Don't get my tongue in cheek response (that u bold) all wrong! I read all discussions in all fun and I totally enjoy these discussions with you too. Love you chingu. No hard feelings as always! :D

Did YS feel/find something that she went back to the past?

She recalled the little boy and saw Dan as him in her sleep during the previous episode. Dan also had dreams about himself running away. I think Dan recalled something too and ran looking for YS who's reminiscing the past at the beach.

Omg @immorethant I didn't realise that part was deleted! :bawling:
