The angst, it is just so good. If we do not get an epic kiss after all these moments, no correction like an epic make out session then I am so gonna burst into flames, I swear.

More BTS guys, This is part 7. :kiss_closed:

In this BTS, It looks like both SHS and L are serious. I think this scene was film early before they are more comfort each other.

Feeling so down after last night episode: the  writing  was for me the worst so far in the long history of all bad writing of this drama.

It was the first time where i seriously considered dropping the drama  despite all my love for SHS and my attachment for the second leads.

That or writing a big rant. That's the problem with bad writing, it can be as intoxicating as the good one, except it fills you only with frustration. So i'm unhappy but still have a hard time to quit

I'll keep thinking about to do while watching on closed loop mode those beautiful gifs that are the sole conpensation that i can get now and will probably ever get from this drama, for the lost time spent on it<_<

If i could add a quote for them to fit those beautiful moments, it would be this one:

Quote

"O prince of better days, I was once your princess, and we loved each other with another kind of love, whose memory makes me grieve".  Fernando Pessoa The Book of Disquiet

I'm sad too that ratings are not picking up. But it's alright, things will get better right!

First place in the ratings is already a good place to be in.

Now I don't care about JKW or Nina or YS winning back fantasia anymore. I just want our OTP to be happy together and if they have to leave everything behind and YS just dances for Dan, then I am ok with that.

Don't give up on Ni Na!

On the next episode preview, Ji Kang Woo has revealed Dan's identity. It's gonna be more interesting.

TBH, I feel bad for Geum Ni Na. She's giving her effort to be a balerina but in the end Ji Kang Woo is crazy over Yeon Soo. With his attitude, I think he's ruining the whole team. How could he become a leader :sweatingbullets:

Sorry, i cut your post in different parts to make it easier to answer:sweatingbullets:

We still do not know whether JKW knows Hoo personally (though, there are clues he might) and even if he does, then he couldn't recognize Hoo because Hoo was in the disguise of a security technician when they met in front of YS's mansion.

23 hours ago, briseis said:

How was he supposed to guess?

Because Hu and Kang Woo have been  around  since a very long time, enough for Hu to know about Kang Woo's story. So from that to think Hu knew the face to put on this story of an angel falling in love with a human, there was only one step that i took.

Also as an archangel who seems to be tasked to train other angels, he probably knows a lot of them.

Nothing in the drama dismissed the idea that angels gather or  have joint missions, so the theory was valid as any other until it was crashed by the drama: they met and nothing special happened.

23 hours ago, briseis said:

It's natural that eventually JKW will be the one who is going tol find out about Dan because he is the only one who knows about angels but he first needs information about him to make that connection and I think the drama does a good a job of showing how JKW slowly comes to the conclusion that Dan is an angel - Dan keeps quoting bible, JKW knows Dan is going to the temple, his CV is odd, he survives the fall to the river,...

I must admit that i didn't reflect much  on the clues because i was thinking that Kang Woo was hiding his bad nature.

I thought he knew Dan was an angel, tried to  manipulate him and force him to help to make  Yeon Seo the prima ballerina.

For me, all the signs were potentially only to mislead us.

But you're right ep 6 confirmed that indeed those clues were meaningful and helped confirm his intuition.

23 hours ago, briseis said:

And I'm certain that just like Dan is not a fully fledged angel in the state he is right now, JKW's angelic powers are limited. The deity might have punished him by making it impossible for him to get himself killed, and he still is able to show his wings on occasions but he obviously does not have any powers. Even Dan can't recognize Hoo in his human tranformations right now and remember, when Dan was an angel he could even stop time and lift a car from falling into the abyss. So these two angels in their "human" form don't have the same powers as regular angels.

I agree with that.  I'll just add that they have limited powers but it was never confirmed that all angels have the same powers: since they don't have the same missions,  they might have different abilities and their "age" might play a part too. As a newbie, Dan might be penalized in a "fight".

Also, nobody knows what Kang Woo can do, the element of surprise might become important, unless Hu knows.

23 hours ago, briseis said:

We still don't know the extent of his powers and I think there is a catch to his "immortality". At this point, it seems to me that the immortality is his punishment and I don't think it's for falling in love, but for trying to take away the life Matilde sacrificed her own to protect.

Your post was before the episodes aired but i can't ignore the new infos in my answer.

I rewatched the scene of the "trial" and execution with subs: during the announcement of the condamnation, the black angel said that Kang Woo's sentence was to lose what the deity gave to him and for me it included his life.

But then, he survived and i wonder if it's really a punishment too: the wrong victim died,  but a certain of  form of Justice has been done nonethelesss. Maybe the deity decided it was enough and just abandoned him to his pain without bothering to remove his immortality or to answer his requests to die if he made any.

In all cases, for me, it's his love for Mathilde and his choice to marry her and live only for her as he said  that lead to her death, so he was well and truly punished for falling in love and acting on it.

23 hours ago, briseis said:

Angel's Last Mission: Love is a fantasy drama involving angels who can fly, stop time,.... therefore I think it isn't unrealistic in such a show that two invisible angels would kill a human.

It's unrealistic in the sense that Angels have been ordered to serve  humans as they were tasked to do by the deity.

The black angel even said that only the deity decided who live, who die. So they were clearly not completely following their mission.

And this special human Mathilde was also an innocent woman.

23 hours ago, briseis said:

Plus there is a lot we don't know about JKW's and Matilde's backstory and we are certainly missing something important as we are only given pieces of the puzzle.

It's one of my rare reasons now to continue to watch the drama : to see more of them. They are the true otp of this story for me.

But it would be a waste of good storyline if the story changes again to make Kang Woo even more bad than he's  probably going to be.

I need:

  • his tragic past; how he went from light and love to despair, to be the definitive version of his story
  • for the drama to spend more time on the  actual ambiguity of his personality, to  define what kind of man he is now or could become in the futur, since his journey is still in the making.

23 hours ago, briseis said:

There is no actual "manual" what angels can or cannot do and the writer is creating her own universe, mythology and story.

The writer is still bound by the narrative conventions she defined as frame for the drama:  we won't see angels transform in vampires in this story. So not everything is possible.

23 hours ago, briseis said:

In one of my first posts about this drama I mentioned that the writer isn't really writing a "religious" drama. She is using the "Christian" deity to represent something higher than us. It's a concept similar to the one used in Goblin - the deity asks a question and how the humans answer it = react to the challenges and obstacles is what makes them who they are.

Furthermore, the writer is using the broader Judeo-Christian mythology which has many versions and side branches. The fact is that there are many types of angels - just like Dan is an angel who deals with animals or KJW protects the artists, there are seven angels of punishment (they are not fallen angels, merely mete out punishment for those who deserve it and they are completely ruthless and know no mercy) - Kushiel, Hutriel, Lahatiel, Makatiel, Puriel, Rozgiel and Shoftiel. So the concept of that "dark" angel is actually based on existing mythology. I recommend to you the book written by Gustav Davidson - Dictionary of Angels, I've been browsing through it since the drama began.

Thank you for the book recommendation!

My tbr list is long like the distance between the earth and the sun, but i can never have too much books to read and this one is translated in my native language so i'll see if i can find a copy in my local library. ^_^

This been posted before but I'm posting this again (my favourite part of that bts) because I'm already bored with no updates (too greedy) and also I love seeing them do this dance; training hard and clearly enjoying themselves too. Okay, I just want to say they are so cute! :P

I haven't watched with subs yet but I wanna throw this out there....

Maybe JKW was not punished for falling in love. Maybe he was punished for not completing his missions as "art angel". He basically abandoned his missions to hang out with Matil, right? Which had to have created some imbalance in the world.

Dan, meanwhile, completed all his missions as animal Angel. And YS is his mission now. So maybe having completed his missions, his punishment will not be as severe as JKW 's.

Just a thought that came to my head.

I haven't watched the subbed episode yet too. Suddenly I have this crazy thought. Maybe Senior Hoo is training Dan to be a human in 100 days and Angel Dan's Last Mission as an angel is to Love Yeonseo. :D:P Ok, I'm talking nonsense again lol.

What I was taught in church and parochial school was that suicide was unforgiveable because it was the final and complete turning away from God without giving Him a chance to forgive you.  It wasn't that God wouldn't forgive but that the person didn't allow Him to give grace at the final moment when it was most needed.

.....and back on topic but on a very different subject:  not sure if anyone has mentioned this but SHS looks very, very slender.  She looks great and it's appropriate for the role as a ballerina but I wondered if she had to lose weight for this role because she looks so different from when she was in 30 But 17.  SHS is really capturing the graceful ballerina moves, too--she must have practiced so hard for this role!  Really admirable dedication to her acting craft.

Well if it is meant to be serious discussion, then i am amazed that people are so willing to let go of basic facts of life and common sense to believe god exists. Also, believing in god and having faith in something that works as positive motivation are two very different things.

COming on to the drama, that is what every drama shows that suicide needs to be punished (which frankly is stupid.. if someone really cared the person wouldn't have lived that miserable life in the 1st place to commit suicide.. Anyways.
