i didn't watch the anime or read the manga but i saw Death Note the movie today. pretty good. Ken'ichi and Tatsuya are soo cute!!\ now i want to watch Death Note 2 the last name. anyone know if its subb yet?

Love this. The anime is better since it's longer but they did a great job making this into a movie. A great cast as well.

I just finished watching the movie... I have to say I really liked it!.. although I didn't like the ending because both Raito and L die...

It was really sweet though when L told Mr.Yagami "you are a great dad...." ):

I haven't finished the manga... because I just watch the latest episode of the anime... I wanna take it slow.. so far, 13th episode of the anime is like 20-30 minutes into the Death Note 2- last name movie.. o_O I wonder how similar the movie is to the anime.. hmm

AS FOR THE "RUMOR" ABOUT DEATH OF L!.. and his name. READ ONLY IF YOU DARE.

---> Well, obviously, it's true because L does die at the end of the movie. But, he does not get killed by Raito.. rather, he kills himself in order to expose Raito.. which means at the end L is the smarter pants.

I heard that L's name is not written anywhere in the manga.. but in the movie, it does show....... it's "L Lawliet", read "e ru ro u ra i to" in Japanese... YES, his real name IS L... muhaha.
