I just remember what katakwasabi said before... It's the curse of the photo-booth....!!

Seems like Sung Mo will go to jail, but it also seems like he got out, too.

I don't think they have enough to indict him and lock him up.  So I think those scenes are of him meeting his Mother in prison and escorting her out (remember how the Police were frustrated that they couldn't keep her in the cell for longer?).

Mother has her ring back in scenes so presumably SM (who is in possession of it now?) gives it back to her.  I still find it creepy that he slipped the ring onto her ring finger.  I wouldn't have minded it as much had he just offered it her and she slipped it on herself.  The fact that he slipped it onto her ring finger (like a groom does his bride), it has all sorts of 'wrong' connotations.  Like he's bound her to himself (like how his Father chained them).  Probably why he was so distraught when he found that she had taken it off - like she had broken ties with him.

Looks like KGT isn't quite dead yet.  Major showdown to happen...probably not revealed till finale night.  I think with how dark it's gone in past few episodes, writer will need a time jump forward in the end (like an epilogue) to give us a happy ever after for LA and JI...and the other minor characters...

I agree with you @nrllee that they don't have enough evidence to lock SM up.

I honestly don't think SM is a bad guy. He just wanted to put an end to his father torturing his mother and LA was a big help with his abilities, but at the same time, SM is teaching LA something/lessons. For wanting to catch the culprit, you need solid evidence, even with his abilities, he needs solid evidence to make his statement clear. If he gets carried away with his abilities, people will use him and he'll end up not being able to catch the culprit. That's why I still have hope that SM will turn out good.

It just breaks my heart that the writer and pd killed off JS. She never got a chance to learn that SM was taking meds to control his emotions. I honestly just want things to turn out well for JI that her father's innocence get proven and LA does well and put his life together with his abilities. He's been learning a lot in the past 4 episodes and you can see his character growing up.

@turtle0217

Like you I don’t think SM has become ‘evil’. Otherwise he would become the Monster. Writer is more subtle than that. All the ‘evidence’ that is pointing us to think that SM has turned to the dark side are too ‘blatantly obvious’ for it to culminate in SM ultimately turning to the dark side. Her writing style seems to preference subtlety and foreshadowing. You need to see with the heart. And in my heart I don’t see evil in SM despite all the evidence thus far seemingly pointing to his descent into darkness (same get up as his dad – black cap, jacket, complete with ‘evil sneer’ etc). It’s like he’s taken on his dad’s persona on the outside. The only difference is that SM (unlike his dad) has ‘established ties’ – with his mom, LA, JI and JS. Brotherhood, camaraderie, love. They anchor him. Thus far we see their belief in him shaken one by one – his mom, JS and now LA. JI remains the only one still clinging onto the belief that he’s not the Monster within…despite evidences of the Monster without...she "sees with her heart" (Little Prince quote - "It is only with the heart that one sees rightly")

Some think SM will be the one to kill his dad. I seriously doubt so. That would cement his descent to darkness for me. Just like if he were really the one to tell KGY to kill the ladies. But yes I still feel he (SM) will die in the end. There’s been too much foreshadowing for that not to eventuate. The Little Prince offers himself up to the Snake (stalker dad – The Snake in the Bible refers to Satan, the Father of Lies) to die. Much like how Christ offered himself up willingly as a sacrifice for mankind. I think SM will save LA another time…just like how he jumped out of the burning building in Ep1 cradling LA. Full circle. Death for the mother is probably the ‘kinder’ option in light of the potential demise of the 2 men in her life.

Have to admit defeat:

I reached the tipping point with JS's death so I won't be watching anymore of this show until the ending airs.  JS's death made me feel that the writer was no longer trustworthy, and I can't envision a really happy ending at this point with JS gone and SM hurting or potentially about to die.

I've been burned by too many dramas that fell apart in the last quarter of the episodes.  If this drama ends badly (and it could), I don't want to be along for the ride.

I'll read re-caps but I'm not watching unless there is some happy at the end.

I have yet to watch Ep 14 with subs as I've been swamped at work. But I just had a chance to catch up on some posts and wow, you all have some great insights. I also do not believe SM is a bad guy. Although I think he has every right and reason to kill his "father", I don't think he will. He will prove JS right that he isn't a monster, I'm sure of it. SM will just let him suffer a bit while not telling the police where he is being kept. It will be up to An, JI, and the detectives to catch him now. As to whether SM will die...I'm just not sure. In the Little Prince, the reader doesn't actually know if the Prince dies, correct? It's more like he just vanishes, under the assumption that he's dead. I feel more likely we will not see a physical death of SM, but more a ?? surrounding what happens to him at the end. I agree it makes sense for him to die at this point, but I think it will be left to the viewer to decide if he's dead or not. Not sure how that would play out, though, so maybe I'm completely wrong.

Also I agree to the creepiness of SM putting the ring on his mother's finger. In that image, they look like a couple, not mother-son. The only thing I can think is the writer is alluding to how close they really are. Considering they were locked in a room together for 9 years, just the two of them, it kind of makes sense. So his extreme closeness to his mom could definitely be a psychological thing stemming from childhood.

Anyhow, I will watch Ep 14 this weekend. I'm excited to see how it ends. I hope we get a happy ending for An and JI and our side characters at least...

The creepiness of SM putting the ring on her ring finger himself,  it did not strike like they are a couple to me but, I thought he would turn out to be like his father and again chain her and make her live in the basement coz of the obsession towards his mom. Wow!!! I hope it does not happen.  I am thoroughly enjoying this drama.  I hope SM come back as a normal human being at least for JS's sacrifice.  I love AN and JI relationship too.  She is so honest and express her feelings straight away towards him.  Cool!!!! Finale week.  Hope everything settles good and HEA ending.  Fighting!!!!

I finally brought myself to watch eps 14 which was even more painful then eps 13 . Rewatching   Ji soo’s death via Lee An’s visions & scenes of her funeral brought me to tears .  There were only 3 times in this drama I remember where our supposedly emotionless Kang Seung Mo crying . When she was stabbed  & his arms , at her grave and while giving his statement to Jae In (  and he mentioned JS was the only one who questioned him on the case)  . This implied that JS was the only one who really did her job.  So to give myself closure , I liked to think he loved & admired her , but given his circumstances & her father’s involvement in all this, it was impossible for him to reciprocate her feelings . Sniff ...

FMV of my ship that was never meant to be

I think that SM may have started the fire in a bid to save his mum  which was a foolish  & naive reaction on his part .  But being desperate & not being able to trust anyone in authority, I can see that happen  . The ring he puts on his mum makes me uncomfortable too but it’s somewhat metaphorical-  he’s fulfilling both the role of husband & son . He’d do anything to protect her till the end . But somehow i don’t think he’s the one who gave the orders to kill those other women though . Hmm I don’t know anymore .. but I do agree that his ending will be quite tragic . Somewhat unfair given how much he has suffered

I don't think Seongmo has turned to the dark side, I still have faith in him because of the way he challenged Jaein and Ahn during the investigation. He made it clear to them that they need to find solid proofs in order to indict him--which I think is his way of "taking care" of them, if that's possible. I don't know if I'm biased but it looks like that he wants them to find solid proofs whether it will benefit him or not. However, we should keep Jaein's statement that Seongmo doesn't trust the police or law in general in mind too.

Also, I agree that Jisoo's death might be mainly for the sake of having element of surprise (since the drama is ending), but I don't think she died in vain. Her death did convince her father to reopen the cases although it's ironic since he turned on a blind eye to keep her alive but still losing her in the end because of that. Maybe that was part of the reasons why the writer chose to kill her off. The writer could totally use this to trigger An and Seongmo too (well, he cried. Hard. At least we're all now convinced that he has emotions), if s/he does I hope it would make sense and do Jisoo justice.

Lastly, this is just my Seongmo-Jisoo shipper heart (IM STILL SAD UNTIL THIS DAY), but I'd like to think that Seongmo does like her, it's just he has too many unfinished business on his plate as of now and cannot appropriately reciprocate her feelings. It's obvious he has a soft spot for Jisoo and is very fond of her, and although I don't know if it's love, it can definitely lead there. Jaein may have been the one who first triggered his emotions, but Jisoo was the one who kept his emotions alive. I wish Jisoo could see that and okay now I'm just very sad let me crawl into a hole and cry my heart out again :(((((

Thank you for everything, Eun Jisoo. You have all my heart.

P.S. I do think that Seongmo putting the ring on her mother's finger himself is creepy... but I'll hold all judgment until tonight's ep (read: PLEASE DONT BE BAD)

I'm not sure how to embed this. What is going on? Clearly whatever An sees when he enters the apartment shocks him greatly. You know, I've been worried because he did collapse a few times before. But now JI is giving him CPR? Please nothing too dramatic!! And because he's so shocked, does this mean he sees SM doing something horrible, like murdering those women? Please no!

My stream is a mess. I'll try. So far just a repeat of last week's end. Now SM went to the jail cell and got his mother. They leave together. An looks sad and lost.

SM and his mom are outside now. Talking about Gab? I think. His mom is yelling at him. Maybe asking if he knew Gab was killing those women. SM is crying, explaining things to her. She looks a bit shocked so I'm not sure what he's saying, but it's def about Gab.

JI and An are inside with Nam talking about things. They call the morgue doctor on speaker phone. Not sure what they asked her. They all seem frustrated. JI stands up and seems determined. Guess she has an idea about something. An and her leave.

SM and his mom return to SM/An's house. His mom seems super nervous. SM sees his room has been torn apart. He picks up his rubix cube and talks. Uh oh. JI and An show up now.  An grabs his hand and sees something but I missed it because my stream is so bad. It appeared to be a building. Maybe the apartment complex? An and SM go outside to talk. An is super upset. SM says something and holds out his fist. An pushes it away and gets a vision of SM saving him both from the fire as a kid and from the streets as a teenager. An walks off.

My stream died for a minute. JI and his mom were talking. Okay I guess they're still talking. She's telling JI about her interactions with SM since the fire incident. She's recalling talking to him on the phone, her near drowning, whatever she was doing with the knife in the subway station. She's breaking down, saying I'm sorry a lot. JI is talking now. Seems very serious. SM is listening from the doorway. Think he's crying again. JI seems to mention the apartment fire and An. She goes to step out and sees SM. JI talks to SM for a moment. She seems angry with him. SM just appears cold hearted with his words.

Commercial - my stream is really annoying. I'm having to reload it like every 2 minutes. I'll keep trying though, mostly cuz I want to know what happens so bad myself lol
