A silent lurker here. I admit that I have no interest towards this drama until its become a rating climber. but seriously, this drama deserve its rating. while there is many social issue have been rise for the discussion, I feel that there is another issue that not being discuss. It is about how this drama reflect the rising social issues nowadays,  about how the parents basically because a slaves raising their master. It is a common problem in an Asian countries where the parent will do anything in their means to provide the better lives for their child without thinking about the consequences. Back in the context of this drama, the parents make the SNU medical department as the end game but then they suffered reality after the entrance which resulted from their previous action.The "FUTURE" scenario is the Park family who has gone through it  with the mother's death and Prof Park friends with the son death so I really looking forward for the Kang family because they are the "PRESENT". the preview for the next episode yeasuh at the meditation room scare me a lot to think that she is at the road of destruction.

 

I dont know if anyone has mention this, the title itself already shown the reflection towards the obsession towards aiming for the best universities. SKY is a well know acronym for top 3 best university in S.Korea,  Seoul University, Korea University and Yonsei University

But is it end game though?  The fact that despite getting through med school and becoming specialist doctors, the game spills over into the hospital too?  It never ends.  You just shift the goal posts to another arena and continue to play the game there.  Even the 'chairman' of the hospital.  You would've thought he was already right at the top but he just set his sights even higher.  I can't wait for tonight's episode!

Maybe it will be an open ending whereby some of the kids will try to break the vicious cycle after they go into each of their fields and some will end up disliking the field of work they have chosen. But that means a season 2.

 

If that happens now the writer can focus on all the vicious and toxic office culture.

My question was rhetorical.  I am not sure the writer will wrap everything up so neatly for us.  It seems to be a drama to get the audience thinking about social conventions and the pressures imposed by familial and societal expectations.  It is designed to shock to enact change. To wrap it up in a bow at the end would seem to defeat the purpose.  So I am not anticipating happily ever afters or everything to be solved in the end. That would be unrealistic.

I understand your point of view but I was leaning more on the hopes of a season 2. I know we still need to finish watching this season but I want this writer to succeed so that a season 2 may happen.

 

Anyways I'm excited to watch tonight episode and how much arm wrestling goes between Hyena and SJ.

Last week eps was Jinjin eps, her story and acting was so hilarious, and scene with soohan was so touching, i'm in tears. 

 

And I love facts that Hwang family, both wife and husband always being a kind and supportive, and being saviour for those sky castle kids. At least, that kind, normal family did exist in society/real life.

 

And I was laughing out loud at hospital scenes. Always be my fave. That lobbying mess within dr CEO and dr Kang departement, intense walk between prof Kang and prof Hwang. Hahahaa.. poor those intern doctor always watching the  amusing banter.

Just finished 14...and I am surprised at the direction the show has taken!

I had a feeling Assistant Jo would be the one to “turn” or betray Kim Job young, but why? To save her? It isn’t clear to me at all.

 

So it’s going to be Han Seo Jin and Yi Im Soo vs Kim Joo Young over the next few episodes...I’m still not convinced that KJY is a completely evil character. There has to be more.

 

Hyena for me is right up there with the  evil characters, manipulating Yebin’s emotions. I wish there were a good side to her. Right now it seems the lines between good and evil are getting too clearly defined. I like them blurred...

This type of dramas are whats needed in kdramas. Not all black all white characters. 

HY is feisty with a nasty attitude but she its a coping mechanisms. 

SR omma was a weak submissive woman but she learn to fight back to her twins. 

YS omma is still the worst to me, she's been told again and again that that teacher was up to no good but did she listen ? No. She reminds me of Cersai Lannister who always think she has the upper hand on everbody and how she is so smart but really she is the worst and so slow and not that smart. 

Anyhow I love this drama !

Did you notice the difference in shoes in the opposing parties?  Prof Kang and co...stuffy business shoes.  Prof Hwang and co...chilled sneakers

shattered dreams, worse still outright betrayal from an unrepentant daughter.  Stuck between a rock and a hard place, desperate to hide the secret from her husband to protect her child from his wrath.  I am thankful for her boys - bless them.  They will turn out to be fine young men, her one consolation.

 

The prodigal son returns (A child found)

A shattered father.  Methodical wood chopping to keep busy and pass time.  A cabin in the woods.  A place of contemplation.  Back to the basics.  Waiting.  Hoping.  Till finally he sees his beloved son in the distance.  He can scarcely believe it.  He doesn't wait for him to come to the door.  He runs to meet him where he is.  They embrace and weep.  Shared grief.  Reconciliation.

 

The smile - thank goodness for the Woo family

Aeeeeeee minus Beeeeeee .  Without their family antics to shift the mood this drama would be so dark and depressing.  Notice how the writer reverses the roles in this episode for their family.

From preview EP15 ,Hyena still eat dinner with Yeseo 's family .I doubt She really dead or just imagination ?

but i think that scene is Flashback

 

If Hyena is really dead , I'm really sure it's Yeseo who kill Hyena. Definitely ,Coach Kim provokes Yeseo to get rid of Hyena and make it like an accident or Hyena 's suicide.

 

Coach Kim did that before when she killed her husband and claimed it was accident .
