High school love vs Adult love - her choice in the storyline makes sense to me.

I honestly think HY deserves the girl more, he patiently waited for her for years and pushed aside his own feelings for his best friend when he found out they were dating. He is a more loyal husband material than the spoiled Sun-Oh character, his lifestyle and family won't be a good place for Jojo either. She needs someone more mature with a stable family foundation that can provide her love.

Agreed. Being a more mature viewer, I really hope she ends up with HY. Sun-oh is hotter but will cause her more heartache. Love this drama! Hope they make many more seasons. Thanks for replying to me, everyone! No access to the webtoon and rooting strongly for HY!

Hi, You're Going to Be Obsessed With Netflix's New Show, 'Love Alarm'

Do you ever find yourself in a television rut? Maybe you're the kind of person who watches too much true crime, and now checks behind every door when you walk into a room, just to be safe. Perhaps you've been on a reality TV kick, and find yourself reflecting on the events of your day in a confessional-style monologue. Heck, you might watch so much science fiction, you're suddenly unable to differentiate between the real world and all the crazy fantasy stuff you've consumed. Whatever the case, it's probably time to try something new.

Enter Netflix's new series, Love Alarm. It's the TV refreshment you so desperately need. This Korean drama is filled with romance, a gorgeous cast, and a really cool tech element. Love Alarm is the kind of show you'll binge watch as quickly as possible...and then spend the rest of your weekend scrolling through social media, looking for other people who are craving more as badly as you are. Here's what you need to know before you watch.

'LOVE ALARM' IS NETFLIX'S FIRST KOREAN ORIGINAL SERIES

It's about time the streaming service finally created its own original K-drama content! Love Alarm is available to watch in most languages. If you're not down with dubbing, you can watch it in Korean with English subtitles. There are eight hour-long episodes.

IT'S ABOUT THE CRAZIEST DATING APP IDEA, EVER.

Love Alarm is about a popular dating app that sets off an alarm when there is someone who likes you within a 10 meter radius. This pretty much means that nobody can hide their feelings. Like, ever. This is a total nightmare for Kim Jojo, because she likes to keep her feelings on the low.

YOU CAN ACTUALLY DOWNLOAD THE APP, IRL.

Love Alarm's director, Lee Na-jeong says that the app is actually real! No, it probably won't be our next Tinder, but if you have an Android, you can totally download it.

"We invested a lot of time and effort in creating an app that actually works, collaborating with app development specialists, designers, and sound designers so that the audience can immerse themselves in the story, watching the characters feeling various emotions looking at the screen of the Love Alarm app," she explains. The dedication!

Apparently the app can only currently be used in Korea. But, they are apparently working on an iPhone version, so maybe they'll roll one out here, too? Fingers crossed!

THERE'S A LOVE TRIANGLE.

I mean, would you even want to watch a drama if it didn't have a love triangle? Nope, not really. Anyway, Hye-young has had feelings for Jojo forever, but when his friend, Sun-oh (who is a hunky male model) falls in love with Jojo at first sight...everything gets complicated.

ojo, Sun-oh, and Hye-young all have super interesting backstories, so paired with the thrill of their love triangle, you'll be answering "yes" every time Netflix asks if you're still watching.

IT'S BASED ON A POPULAR WEBTOON.

The idea for the story came from a webtoon (which is basically just an online comic, BTW), by Chon Kye-young. She came up with the concept for Love Alarmwhen she thought of the question, "How would humans adapt to a world where romantic feelings are made visible, and how would that change the way we love?" It's pretty nuts, when you think about it.

The webtoon is set in a world where "invisible things like feelings can turn into something visible." Yes, this makes for a great TV show...but I hope it never happens IRL.

You can read the webtoon on Tumblr.

TWITTER'S ALREADY OBSESSED WITH IT.

Because Love Alarm is based on a webtoon, it already had a pretty solid fanbase to begin with. Twitter's super thirsty for the whole cast, and already asking for a second season. In other words...prepare to stan.

The actor playin' Sun-Oh could pass off for Rowoon of SF9:w00t: The Love Alarm app is soooo.. depressing! At first I thought the bowl haircut guy & Sun-Oh were a couple ha-ha?! But yea turned out they both like So-Hyun;) So-Hyun's lucky to be in love triangles with hot guys!

Ahahahah Hwi-Young & Jun-Woo's Mom from Moments At 18 are here too:lol: (sigh) Hwi-Young gets his girl stolen again<_<

Love Alarm – Season 1 Episode 8 (The Finale) Recap & Review

Spoiler

he Finale

The finale to Love Alarm begins with Sun-Oh showing up at Jojo’s work, only to find it closed. As it turns out, our protagonist appears before Hye-Yeong in the school courtyard. It’s here she reveals the truth about Love Alarm, that she had a shield up and it’s her fault their relationship failed. He reassures her, and the two step closer together, prompting her to smile as he rings her alarm.

After a somewhat romantic and beautiful date, Jojo heads home only to run into Sun-Oh, who checks her Love Alarm only to find the notification go off again. She tells him she used to like him but right now she’s not so sure.

Seeing the damage the shield has caused, Jojo tries to turn it off. Only, every time she tries to get rid of the shield it reactivates, seemingly condemning her to life without the love alarm activated correctly. Realizing the developer is the only person who can turn off the app, she contemplates what to do next while Gul-Mi continues to entertain the solitary person watching her streams.

Sun-Oh accuses Hye-Yeong of using him to get what he wanted. He tells him it’s only a matter of time before he leaves as Sun-Oh turns the attention around to Jojo. The two discuss what she did to him and he tells his friend that he still likes Jojo. Yuk-Jo shows up midway through their fight and checks out Sun-Oh’s yearbook to find out who Kim Jojo actually is.

The big day of the Love Alarm launch arrives, and with it the promise of the developer being revealed. Jojo laments the arrival of Love Alarm, realizing it’s caused more harm than good and wonders where they’d be now without it. However, the big talking point here is the reveal of the developer himself. Is Duk-Go still alive?

However, as protestors arrive to stop the launch, Hye-Yeong learns the artist of The Ringing World is actually Jojo. Seeing the protest on TV, Hye-Yeong rushes to the scene to check on his love interest. In the auditorium, the presenter mentions that Love Alarm was created in a shy boy’s bedroom. Glimpses of Duk-Go’s apartment flash up before the developer reveals himself to be a man named Brian Chon. While protestors outside question the morality around the app, inside the building, the Badge Club are told the new features for the app will accurately predict ones feelings and how they will develop.

In the aftermath of the meeting, Jojo, Yuk-Jo, Sun-Oh and Hye-Yeong all meet in the hallway while Jojo contemplates over just who she’ll choose. As the quartet deliberate over what to do next, the developer upstairs reveals that the Love Alarm will accurately predict who you’ll fall in love with where the episode is left hanging in the balance.

Love Alarm leaves things hanging on an almighty cliffhanger here, one that sees Jojo torn between two sides. With Hye-Yeong heading off to Busan and Sun-Oh clearly conflicted by her feelings with Jojo, could we see a situation arise where Yuk-Jo and Hye-Yeong get together while Sun-Oh and Jojo rekindle their past flame? It seems unlikely of course but the triangle itself continues to keep things interesting, right through to this final episode.

It may not have been the best drama, and there’s plenty of questions left unanswered if Netflix and TvN decide to renew this for a second season. I really hope they do too as one of my big pet hates is a series left with so many unresolved questions in the hope of being renewed. I’ve said it before but for me the darker elements of the series have been far more interesting than the love triangles and it’s a shame these haven’t been explored in more detail across the episodes.

The mass suicide attempts, Duk-Go’s suicide and the depression that appears to stem from this app are all interesting and very real talking points but none of them are ever fully explored, feeling more like dramatic pit-stops to break up the romance. Still, the finale does set things up nicely for a possible second season but whether Netflix will green-light this or not, remains to be seen.

All the Buzz About the Newest Netflix K-Drama, 'Love Alarm'

By Sarah Wong

Netflix continues to expand its Korean drama collection by drawing inspiration from the popular Korean webtoon 좋아하면 울리는 (Joahamyeon Ullineun) by Chon Kye Young. On August 22, the popular streaming service released the long-anticipated drama adaptation of Love Alarm.

(We will try our best to keep this spoiler-free for those who have yet to watch the whole season.)

Love Alarm brings a refreshing twist to the romantic world commonly found in K-dramas. What makes this K-drama so unique is how unpredictable it is. Usually, you can pinpoint who is part of the love triangle, predict the disaster, and expect your favorite couple to end up together; however, with two strong male leads, it was difficult to tell who would end up with whom. At one point, we found ourselves rooting for both!

On August 6, the first official trailer for Love Alarm was released, featuring the modern, technological world. The visual effects look like they are straight out of a video game—crisp, clear, and colorful. Sometimes when shows feature these kinds of visual effects, they look cheesy and overly fake, but Love Alarm blends the graphics beautifully, without harming the aesthetic integrity.

The series focuses on a newly-released app that tells the user who, in a 10-meter radius, likes or is attracted to them. With this advanced technology available at your fingertips, people tend to lose touch with the dating world, skipping the thrill of the chase. While many people are excited about hearing their love alarm ring, others are overcome with jealousy. The Love Alarm app soon becomes a huge problem.

Turning a webtoon into a drama series calls for careful casting decisions. Let’s look into the actors that brought this webtoon to life:

  • Kim So Hyun takes the female lead role as Kim JoJo. You might recognize her as Park So Yoon from the popular K-drama, While You Were Sleeping. She is also known as the Nation’s Little Sister due to her cute and innocent image. To connect with her character, Kim So Hyun read the webtoon, saying that she could relate to Kim JoJo as she is reminded of the first time that she experienced love.
  • Song Kang plays the handsome and charming role of Hwang Sun Oh. This one of his first major roles after debuting as an actor in 2017. He played major roles in When the Devil Calls Your Name and Beautiful Vampire. Since 2018, he has been an MC for Inkigayo, a popular music program broadcast.
  • Jung Ga-Ram brings Lee Hye Yeong to life as Hwang Sun Oh’s best friend. Like Song Kang, Jung Ga Ram is fairly new to the entertainment world, debuting only in 2016. He won Best New Actor at the 53rd Grand Bell Awards for his work in the film, Fourth Place.

What we admire about Love Alarm is how they touch upon so many different struggles faced by young adults. From family issues to financial issues to pride, Love Alarmacknowledges all of these issues, giving you a feeling that you aren’t alone. These ideas, whether showcased in a big or small way, communicate a sense of open-mindedness with the viewers.

As Netflix Original’s first K-drama series, Love Alarm can easily be one of the best K-dramas of 2019. By the end of episode 8, you’ll be left with a deep desire for a second season, but will Season Two even happen? Director Lee Na-Jeong says that more episodes will be produced if Season One receives a lot of support.

To promote their very first Netflix Original K-drama series, Netflix is hosting a free event at Seokchon Lake from August 18 to September 1 (4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.). This event lights up your evening with Love Alarm themed art installations. If you are planning a trip to Lotte World Tower, stop by and check out the Love Alarm attractions!

I disagree. The contract between Sun-oh and Hye-Young said "it's up to Jo-jo to choose one of us". Years after she dumped SO, she seems to have chosen HY. Those were the rules signed by both.

@baby.hae, I also missed some "action" from Hye-young regarding his feelings towards Jo-jo. It's something Jung Ga-ram, the actor playing HY, has said too. In my country, this's got a name: platonic love. And platonic loves rarely work well when they turn into real loves. Probably, Hye-young is expecting an ideal Jo-jo that the real Jo-jo can't match. Let's wait and see.

What??? Jo jo chose Sun oh.. and "contract" ends there..

Not to mention it was suggested by Sun oh and he was really trying to be fair to all three parties + not go noble idiocy route till the end..

you don't bring up an invalid contract after 5 years

this is just a richard simmons move (unless it is meteor garden way of Rui trying to date to show the girl that she still loves Dao M)..

(PS: no webtoon context, purely based on what is shown in the drama. KSH is using men and HY is out an out wrong.. plus going behind Sun oh's back to woo KSH.. atleast man up and tell him.. you can extend that much courtsey.. i am amazed that sun oh is still being very nice to HY)

So, like some Dramabeans comment has said, Sun-oh is a pretty big child. So romantic, so innocent, so handsome, so passionate... but also egoist and immature as a young kid. He puts his personal revenge towards Jo-jo over his best friend's happiness. Yeah, and I mean 'happiness' even if Jo-jo dumps Hye-young too. Because Hye-young is mature enough to enjoy the happiness in a relationship instead of being consumed by hate when this relationship ends.

Don't get me wrong, I love many sides of Sun-oh, he's not the typical jerk from a rich family (at least in the series, as @Myokie has pointed out). But he was too young to build a solid relationship. Jo-jo wasn't mature enough, either. As much as I find @pinkypanda419's explanation very reasonable, she did a mistake and deeply hurt Sun-oh. She admitted it later. I hope Sun-oh do the same in season two. He has deeply hurt Hye-young.

How is Sun oh egoist and immature??

What personal revenge.. where is this even coming from???

What best friend's happines.. Sun oh is actually trying hard to protect his best friend from a heartbreak given his best friend made a very disrespectful move  in the first place .. didn't even have the guts to tell him that he wants to pursue KSH, until he got caught by SH

he IS NOT a jerk at all..

he is the one who has shown immense maturity and breaks the stereotype from the beginning.. in how understanding and a silent support he has been to KSH

Lol.. how was he younbg to build a solid relationship.. it is totally Jo Jo's fault with both of her boyfriends.. :D

are we even watching the same show?? :O

and these accusations don't come with examples that prove these comments

Sun Oh knew everything from the begining. He knew Hye Young love Jojo .That's why he started to interest with Jojo . If you remember Sun Oh asked Hye Young ,would you love me no matter what ı do. Because he knew what he was doing was wrong. His friend loves Jojo silently but he didin't care.

Sun Oh is jerk or not but ı think he is not a good friend for Hye Young.

After 4 years Sun Oh  started to date someone else. Because of this Hye Young explained  her feelings to Jojo when he meet her again. This is not wrong. Hye Young loved Jojo  and still loves Jojo. Sun Oh loves Jojo but dating someone else ...

Correction - he realized, he asked - HY didn't just refuse to answer but told him he did not like Jo Jo..

that is HY's fault.. not SO

also theme of the drama is you love what you love, you can't control feelings but what you can do is how you go about them which HY fails miserably by going behind SO's back and SO is still prioritizing HY's wellbeing

Also... what liking.. girl doesn't even know you exist

by that logic.. if a girl has a stalker then no other man should show interest in her because the stalker has been pining for too long for her

Because SO did no wrong.. he is the one who was ditched..and he still loves her, and unlike KSH and HY, he isn't a coward to run away from his feelings..

he is even nice enough to acknowledge it.. and based on what was shown they seem to have that conversation/understanding of how he is not in love with the other girl

in all three relationships, actually 4 relationships - JoJo, current gf, HY, his own mom - SO is the understanding one.. the one who is willing to try..

everyone else (except current gf) wants an easy route and thinking of selfish reasons..

HY is slightly different.. his only richard simmons move is go for the girl behind his back..but given best friend equation, this is equivalent to cheating

Yes he realized and asked to HyeYoung and his first answer is "She has a boyfriend' .That's why Hye Young didn't say He loves Jojo .Then he kept saying no. Because his best friend SunOh started to love her .

Hye Young knew Ssun Ooh very well, his family, pain and first time he loves a girl and he noticed that and ın my opinion Hye Young wanted to Sun Ho's happiness and keep saying "No,I don't like Jojo" .He didn't want his friend to feel sorry for him.

Not a direct response on a particular sentence of what you've written, but just the general vibe of how I'm getting that you think HY and Jojo are completely in the fault here for trying to pursue their relationship without considering SO's feelings.

The way I see it, things are really not as black and white as that. It's true that SO did nothing wrong at all while he was with Jojo, he was sweet, kind, caring, patient, warm. The breakup happened purely because as Jojo admitted, she was immature then.
The breakdown of Sun-Oh's relationship with Hye-young is however, immature and hypocritical on his part. Yes, if Sun Oh didn't confront him on who this special person was that HY wanted to impress, Sun Oh would probably never have found out until later. Having said that, ever since HY revealed his intentions to Sun Oh, he has been nothing but truthful towards his friend. I'm not saying that HY is not in the wrong for his lack of consideration towards SO's feelings especially knowing how he got dumped, but the same thing can be said about Sun Oh when he consciously made a decision to kiss Jojo despite knowing full well that his friend had a crush on her too. If he were truly considerate of his friend's feelings he would not have even followed her let alone kiss her. (Reminder that their agreement on who letting Jojo choose came AFTER he made his move)

If you ask me, I think Sun Oh's response to Hye-young's confession is also in part because he hates the idea of his friend getting together with someone he still loves, despite Jojo's 'betrayal'. Hence the scene in the car later with Jojo, where he painfully asks Jojo again whether she likes him, as if he were hoping that her response would be different and that they both still have a slimmer of chance somewhere out there.

Having said all of that, I am on Team Sun Oh because no matter how young and brief their relationship was, everything about it was so wholesome, sweet, and pure. I have no doubt that her relationship with Hye-young will be that way too, but the established relationship that Jojo and Sun Oh built before that has taken precedence in my heart, and I unfortunately have a weakness when it comes to pained boys desperately wanting the heroine to love them back.

I respect everyone’s opinions. Truly.

My view is that:

1. SO was fully aware of HY’s crush but still pursued JJ. That’s a richard simmons move.

2. HY a right to pursue JJ since SO moved on already.

3. SO pursues JJ again once he found out HY is pursuing her finally. He is not trying to protect HY from heartbreak—- he wants JJ for himself.

4. SO and HY truly love each other. But SO expects HY to defer to him at every chance.

Just finished the entire episodes... came here to ask if anyone know when the next season be...? That was a real cliffhanger (which btw made me stayed up till 3am!)

surprised also of quite a lot of biases here... everyone got their own and is respected of course... but just in case someone’s keeping a tab, i am on Team Sun Oh too..!!!:P

Not for so many reasons that u have... i just like Jojo and SunOh’s visual...! I know that could really be swallow, but i am here just for fun and for some heart fluttering moments, JoJo and SunOh have really shown that..

so my questions again, when is the Season one... and can some point me to the webtoon English pls...if there is...?

thanks

@KymberleeD, there used to be a English translation, but Kye Young Chon (author) decided to remove it by herself, nobody knows why. It's a shame I didn't save it :(, but I didn't expect her reaction.

@enigmatic_zephy, I'll answer you later. But, please, if you are going to quote me, leave my "spoiling" text under spoiler too. Thanks.

that cliffhanger at the end of ep 8!!! what is going to happen to me if they don't get a season 2!! going to be left hanging forever and ever!

I mainly watched this for Kim So Hyun, but I did find the 2 male leads somewhat endearing. I can't really pick, although first half of the season I was leaning to SunOh, but the last few episodes make it difficult to see how that ship can continue to sail...

I did read somewhere that Jojo wasn't that likeable a character in the webtoon, so kudos to KSH that I don't yet dislike Jojo to date. I didn't understand all her intentions, but it didn't stop me from wanting a happy ending for her.

No, Jo JO is at fault for showing herself as the victim while being insensitive to men around her. She was wrong is kissing behind her bf's back and didn't even inform him about it.. and there was literally no guilt

She was again wrong with SO in the way she treated him but atleast here she acknowledges that she was at fault 100% and was immature

Therefore, I do not understand when that easily she agrees to hook up with the 3rd guy.. and her statement in ep 4 or 6 is BULL.. when she says.. " He started ringing my love alarm and made me hopeful" .. lol.. as in what was the other guy doing..

Sorry but in love, Jojo has used all these boys.. she is still using HY because he is probably more compatible social status wise..

LMAO .. but he is not even the one breaking up

HY had to only inform SO that he wants to pursue JoJo and pursue her like a man.. but no he decided to go behind his back.. that is just wrong

And then he wants to move out because he is conscious of jojo and SO.. he can't have her visiting his home and the long walks etc etc.. SO is right about HY doing this because of jojo .. not because he wanted to move out for his own idependence/job etc etc.. in a way she is becoming the reason for HY drifting apart.. and moreover SO has seen jojo break hearts of 2 boys :)

ha ha.. HY said he DOES NOT LIKE JOJO.. like 2 or 3 times

Don't distort the facts of the drama.. you can have your opinion but don't distort it.. did So or did SO not ask HY before pursuing? And did HY make it clear or not that he knows SO likes JoJo too and was ok with SO liking her? Did SO not go for noble idiocy , actually proposed a fair solution..with prioritizing JoJo's feelings over the two of them?

What is richard simmons is when you are a coward and then come to claim for it

the girl did not even know of your existence.. he was literally a stalker.. DENY THAT!

Quote

2. HY a right to pursue JJ since SO moved on already.

He has, but do it with class.. Who decides SO moved on? HY didn't even ask.. and don't tell me because he has a gf.. even his gf knows and mom knows that SO is not into her..

3. SO pursues JJ again once he found out HY is pursuing her finally. He is not trying to protect HY from heartbreak—- he wants JJ for himself.

ha ha.. are you literally making up stuff? when did SO pursue JJ AGAIN after knowing HY is pursuing her?.. Look at his actions.. he has never been NOT on HY's side..he is very right is trying to protect HY ..

Again, all for opinions but stick to what is shown instead of making up stuff or give proper examples and explanations for accusing a character

(not trying to shut you down..but i just don't see any rationale supportng your views)

4. SO and HY truly love each other. But SO expects HY to defer to him at every chance.

hmm.. don't think SO and HY love each other. unless you mean brotherhood.. and SO never expected HY to defer to him.. again what is your rationale. .. don't just throw this statements

Let's be very clear..

HY DID NOT push aside his own feelings for his best friend.. he saw JoJO ring his bell.. and he saw how compatible they were..and he saw SOwas always there for her..

Yes he realized and asked to HyeYoung and his first answer is "She has a boyfriend' .That's why Hye Young didn't say He loves Jojo .

That's an excuse.. he wasn't asked to go announce it to JoJo.. his best friend was asking him.. and he refused.. that was a private conversation

Then he kept saying no. Because his best friend SunOh started to love her .

NO.. he very much was into it..infact SO gave him the guts to even think of pursuing JJ.. JJ had broken up by then.. lack of inaction is totally on him.. he gave up when he saw JJ ring the alarm

Hye Young knew Ssun Ooh very well, his family, pain and first time he loves a girl and he noticed that and ın my opinion Hye Young wanted to Sun Ho's happiness and keep saying "No,I don't like Jojo" .He didn't want his friend to feel sorry for him.

This is beyond what drama has shows with no conclusive evidence of any of this.. he doesn't know if this is love..

1. If it is a sacrifice then it was his choice.. sacrifice in this case when the other man is trying to keep it fair is actually a disrespect and SO is right then that SO is nothing more than charity case for HY.. something that HY can feel good about and get his ego massage that he is "sacrificng"

2. Plus, i really don't see it as a sacrifice.. he agreed to the fair shot and was still hovering around JJ until he saw that JJ did like SO

Netflix: What We Know About Love Alarm Season 2

Netflix: What We Know About Love Alarm Season 2
“Love Alarm” premiered on Netflix to rave reviews this week. Through the laughter, tears and heartbreak, audiences have grew fond and become invested in Jojo, Hye-yong, and Sun-oh.

Now that many fans have finished binge-watching all 8 episodes, the feedback has been unanimous – we need season 2! Especially since the first season ended on a cliffhanger.

Just as the developer Brian Chon (guess he didn’t commit suicide after all?) reveals that the Love Alarm 2.0 app can now predict one’s potential lover, we see Jojo caught in-between Hye-yong and Sun-oh. Both men simultaneously ring her alarm and our leading lady finds herself in an awkward position once again.

The scene then cuts to the end credits and viewers are left dumbfounded, thinking, “Wait, that’s it?” Already, countless fans have taken to social media demanding for a 2nd season. We hate to break it to you, but you’ll have to wait a little longer (likely next year) to see which handsome guy will successfully convince Jojo to open her heart again.

Will it be the wealthy model Sun-oh or humble boy Hye-yong?

Personally we think Sun-oh may have a slight edge over Hye-yong. Sun-oh still has feelings for Jojo despite spending a few years apart after the break up. Although Hye-yong is only beginning to fight for what he wants, some may feel like it’s too little too late.

Hye-yong was quite passive and took a backseat in lieu of his bestie for the first half of the season. Thankfully, actor Jung Ga-ram (정가람) exclusively told us that he’s quite the opposite in real life. It was frustrating to see Hye-yong put everyone but himself first – time and time again.

Love Alarm

While Hye-yong and Jojo came off more like a brother-sister relationship, audiences could see the passion and chemistry between Sun-oh and Jojo. Having said that, you might be surprise to know that actress Kim So-hyun (김소현) admitted to us that she’s team Hye-yong.

What can fans expect from season 2?

Well, this much is obvious – So-hyun, Ga-ram, and Song Kang (송강) will be back to reprise their respectively roles. We might also get to see if Jojo’s former boyfriend Il-sik finally develop feelings for her frenemy Kim Jang-go. Plus, we’re still counting on hating Jojo’s richard simmons cousin, Park Gool-mi (played brilliantly by Go Min-shi).

Is anyone also hoping for more shirtless scenes from Song Kang?

So, will there be a season 2?

The answer is almost certainly yes (although not officially confirmed yet) !

If season 1 is well-received, we’ll produce season 2. So, season 2 really depends on how
well season 1 does. For slightly over half of season 1, you’ll get to see the high school years of the characters, followed by the adult years in the later part of the season where we get to ask ‘What’s Jojo’s choice?’ when she grows up,” Lee Na-jeong told us.

The director added, “This is my first time directing the end of a season. Usually for Korean TV series, once you’re done with the series, you’re done for good, but for this Original Series, we had to make the ending in a way that makes the audience want to watch the next season. So, this season will end with the question about Jojo’s choice.”

@enigmatic_zephy

Peace. We're just having fun talking about a fiction show. Let's not turn this into a Youtube comments section.

First of all: when I hide one of my stupid and badly written speeches (my English is mostly self-taught) under a spoiler box (or whatever they call them), it's intended for the people who's reading the forum but not finished the drama. It contains plot keys, more or less important. If you quote my hidden words without (in turn) hiding them into a spoiler box, it's like showing them to everybody.

Just netiquette. And now, I'm gonna hide everything:

Spoiler

Quote

What??? Jo jo chose Sun oh.. and "contract" ends there..

That's your point of view, which I respect. For me, a friendship means, among other things, "do your friend what your friend has done for you". No matter how much time's passed. In the past, Hye-yeong respected "Jo-Sun" ship. "JoSun" ship sank. Time passed by. Sun-oh began another relationship. Jo-jo decided to date HY. And SO didn't like it because he still loved Jo-jo. He didn't respect "Jo-Hye" ship.

Quote

How is Sun oh egoist and immature??

He is. Actually, as egoist and immature as many people would be in his shoes. It's a normal reaction, if we take on account he's just a teenager. But not a fair reaction.

Quote

What best friend's happines.. Sun oh is actually trying hard to protect his best friend from a heartbreak given his best friend made a very disrespectful move  in the first place .. didn't even have the guts to tell him that he wants to pursue KSH, until he got caught by SH

Yes, that's the official excuse: I'm protecting my best friend. And when my best friend turns that "protection" down, I break with him. That's an odd definition of "friendship".

I could agree with you in this: it would have been a nice gesture to tell Sun-oh about that move. But Sun-oh had a new relationship. Hye-yeong couldn't know he still loved Jo-jo; actually, logical thinking would be "he hates Jo-jo" or "he remains indifferent to her".

That lack of communication doesn't justify what Sun-oh did later. We are not criticizing "pre-dumped" Sun-oh. Until that moment, he was a dream of a teenager. But intense pain did change him. And not for the better.

Quote

he IS NOT a jerk at all..

Did I say that? I'm #teamHyeYeong, but not #HateSunOh. I don't think he is bad at all; just immature. His pros are way over his cons. If I was a teen, I would fall for him. Same for Jo-jo, even if I think both did wrong. But as my teen years are water under the bridge, now I think Hye-yeong is way more attractive.

Quote

Correction - he realized, he asked - HY didn't just refuse to answer but told him he did not like Jo Jo..

And Sun-oh perfectly knew he was lying. And Hye-yeong knew that SO knew it. And then and because of that deep understanding of each other, the "it's-up-to-Jo-jo-contract" showed up.

Quote

No, Jo JO is at fault for showing herself as the victim while being insensitive to men around her. She was wrong is kissing behind her bf's back and didn't even inform him about it.. and there was literally no guilt

I'm agree that she done wrong, even twice, but... no guilt? Come on, Jo-jo is the absolute queen of guilt. In fact, it's one of the things I dislike about the character. But it seems it's deeply rooted into Korean culture. Me, paying my parents' debts because they committed suicide? No f way.

@Elif Ataş, that Hype article has plenty of spoilers (gosh, I'm being the annoying spoiler police). Although nobody's going to read it because that shirtless Song-kang picture is going to block all hearts and brains, it would be better to hide it.

Spoiler

To me, it's obvious that Brian Chon is a fake figure. Some looser they hire to make the show. Still crying for Duk-gu.
