I thought I'd be happy and giddy for this episode but it turned out that I might be too sad later. I dont wanna cry. 

 

It's true that having to be separated/distanced at that early stage of the relationship is too painful especially if you get used to the person being there at your beck and call. I think it's not about the distance though but the fact that CSH fears are coming true. Remember the beach scene when she thought KJH was sleeping and she said that she chooses to distance herself from people because there was no use, they will be taken away from her and it's too painful to be away from the people she likes. That fear is actually happening again.

Thanks @stroppyse  for all the translations. I have not watched ep 7 but I look forward to watching it tonite (hopefully). I like that the first hurdle that they have to go through after being in a relationship is long distance since it's a realistic and common hurdle that a lot of people can relate to instead of life and death like in other kdrama. I had been in LD relationship for 2.5 years and it was hard, but it definitely provided valuable time and space for me (and my boyfriend now husband) to grow better as a person. Fighting SH and JH!

I like kdrama and this drama in particular for the same reason that you mentioned above.

About a little over a year after being married, I got a new job in a different city from my wife.  We could not do without her income so she had to stay where she was while I moved away.  Because of our jobs, we were both very busy and could not talk on the phone very often.  (Note this was before emails, texting, Skype or smartphones existed.)  About once every other month she would come to visit while we looked at apartments to lease and she would interview for jobs.  This went on for about a year and honestly, it was extremely tough.   The trick is to commit to making the limited time you have together as memorable as possible and as focused on each other as possible.  You should do that as well when you aren't separated by long distance because your partner needs to know they are loved and appreciated. That's how we have stayed married and in love with each other for 35 years.  It seems that CSH and KJH are really committed to making their relationship work so I don't see the long distance issue to be a factor.  In my mind, the real threat will come from all the people who want to destroy CSH and her happiness and in so doing hurt KJH as well.

Thank you all for your posts. The drama is of top quality in many aspects and so is this thread. I am grateful that we have so many great contributors who provide constant updates and analytical, insightful, knowledgeable, thoughtful and sometimes thought provoking reviews and comments. I believe we even have some psychologists, sociologists and anthropologists here. I have not had the time to write as much as I wish, but please do know that I read, enjoy and appreciate each and every post of yours.

 

Stroppyse has more than once said that the dialogues in this drama are not special. I do not necessarily disagree, the dialogues are indeed quite simple and not cheese and catchy. But I think we should give credit to the scriptwriter for the same reason. They sound indeed simple but they are not meaningless. They might sound random but they are well-thought. They are not special but they have depth. Sometimes they are direct, sometimes they are nuanced. They are often realistic, but they can also be artistic (the scriptwriter surely loves arts). Sometimes they are mature and at other times they have great sense of humour. If you don't have time to watch and think about the dialogues, simply have a close look at Stroppyse's great translations of the dialogues and you will understand what I mean (Of course our actors, especially Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum, have done a great job in conveying them. This kind of dialogues particularly requires very nuanced and subtle acting and I can’t think of anyone else who could do a better job).

 

It is rare to have such a good drama and such a good thread these days. And for that, I am thankful to all crew members of the drama and contributors of this thread.
