Kim Hyun-joong to make his drama comeback with fantasy romance (source: dramabeans by javabeans)

More than anything I’m surprised that there are drama-makers who still consider idol-turned-actor Kim Hyun-joong (Age of Feeling, Playful Kiss) employable, but he’s just been confirmed to a series called When Time Stops. To put it plainly, his name is mud in showbiz circles these days, and I’d really thought there was a chance his career was toast.

That could still be the case, but at least now he’ll have a chance to work his way back with the fantasy romance drama featuring a main character with superpowers — specifically, time traveling, because we’re not quite done with that trend yet. When he meets the heroine and falls in love with her, he also apparently finds the meaning of life. The drama marks Kim’s return to television after four years away, his last drama being 2014’s period action series Age of Feeling.

(In case you missed the hullaballoo: Without getting into all the ugly details, Kim Hyun-joong has been mired in nasty scandals involving his ex-girlfriend, whom he was accused of beating repeatedly, allegedly resulting in miscarriage. Those accusations were followed by his denial of paternity for the child she bore after their breakup and a subsequent lawsuit. His agency distanced itself from him in the aftermath, and then last year he was also caught up in a drunk driving charge. Ultimately he was cleared of the assault charges, but the process was quite damaging to his image, and in dramaland where a clean image is so crucial to an actor’s success, it seemed that his may have suffered too much to recover. We’ll have to see whether he can bounce back successfully with this project.)

Kim Hyun Joong (Inspiring Generation) has accepted the lead role in the new KBS drama When Time Stops. When Time Stops is a time travel romance where Kim Hyun Joong will play a mysterious and lonely time traveler.

This will be his first drama since Inspiring Generation four years ago. Filming is set to begin in July.

When Time Stops is looking to air in fall 2018 on KBS.

A production staff of the upcoming KBS fantasy drama That Moment When Time Stops confirmed that Ahn Ji-hyun (Time) has been cast as Kim Hyun-joong’s (Inspiring Generation) love interest.

The actress will play the role of Sun-ah, a 25-year-old landlady who owns a three-story building.

That Moment When Time Stops will focus on the story of a mysterious and lonely time-traveler. It is Kim Hyun-joong’s comeback drama, whih is slated to air in October on KBS W for 12 episodes.

Oh cool. She's the ghost friend of Eun Tak in Goblin right? She's quite pretty ^^

 

Anyways, I read from twitter that they are already shooting the 6th episode. 

Seems like they want to be quiet as much as possible with the shooting. Not complaining though as long as they are making progress.

 

Also been trying to find some news about the drama and found this one reported a couple of months ago. Though I have no idea if this has pushed through. It's about actor In Kyu Jin (husband of actress So Lee Hyun) who also got an offer for the drama. Actually both Kim Hyun Joong and him got the offer, I'm still not sure though if he was the first choice and turned it down then passed it to KHJ. Or he'll be in the drama as well with KHJ.

Ep.1 air date for KBS W drama series “That Time When Time Stops” (literal title) is now set for Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 11 PM. “That Time When Time Stops” stars Kim Hyun-Joong, An Ji-Hyun and In Gyo-Jin. The drama series will air as a pre-production (filming completed prior to airing). In the drama series, Kim Hyun-Joong plays a man able to stop time.

His character might be really really lonely, you can see it in his eyes

But I hope it's nothing similar with his character from Boys Over Flowers you know Yoon Ji Hoo, the quiet aloof type of guy because of his dark past. I'm hoping this time though that his character Jun Woo will be more mature and full of emotions.

Also found this still cut for In Kyu Jin as Myeong Woo 'God's Messenger'  and Joo Sok Tae as 'Deity/God' who is omnipotent and gets whatever he desires.
