[Drama 2018] Hundred Million Stars From the Sky / The Smile Has Left Your Eyes, 하늘에서 내리는 1억 개의 별

Recommended Posts

Finally I am able to enjoy Kdrama once again after "My Mister"!!

I am crossing my fingers and hope that the PD will surprise us with a different ending from the Japanese version

Love the leading actor/actress...not only because both of them are very pleasing to the eyes, but also with their excellent acting performance.   This drama makes me anxious every time when an episode ends.   I don't get the low viewing rating in Korea.

I also noticed the same thing but the scene came out naturally hahahaha.

They just looked like an ordinary couple making out, ready to netflix and chill.

I just want to ship them irl so bad but JSM is now taken. Guess I’ll just ship them as MY and JK. Bad for us. *sighs in Korean* :bawling:

I am astonished how  JSM has been shiped with all of her partners before in her Dramas. (Not LKS) OMG. She use to have a good chemestry with her partners. I think that the meaning of  this scene is that these two are amazing top actors. The firts time i saw  SIG was at Replay 1997 and i love him since then,  and i shipped him with the girl of A-Pink, but the only time i shipped JSM with an actor  was with Lee Joon., If she wouldn't be in a realtionship with Lee Joon i would be shipping her with SIG

is being a  time since that i was wishing SIG and JSM working toguether cause for me they are amazings actors..

It's sad that this Drama has not the rating that it deserves.

All the hints are pointing to them being siblings, but it’d be a great plot twist from PD to come up with something else.

But I somehow can’t see this show ending happily.

I was hoping MY is actually JG brother rather than JKs bro since the drawing was of another boy..that's why he's so interested in him but after the reveal in episode 10 I dunno! Or maybe JK was adopted by MY family.. so in that sense they are siblings but not blood related!

Love that MY and JK are so comfortable talking about their past to one another and that MY is sharing abit of his life by going to the orphanage!

I wonder what woo sangs sister is up to doubt she's given up on MY just because he said no to the pub!

Sad about the low ratings but some good dramas often get low ratings so hopefully nothing to worry about and the content of the story doesn't get changed for the sake of ratings. 6 more eps to go!

Jang Se Ran is definitely going to cause trouble to our lovebirds. She said she was bored her whole life and right now MY is her new toy. She won’t let him go because everything must be her way. She’s a true sociopath and I guess MY would end up like that if it wasn’t for JK. She’s a true opponent to MY unlike her brother.

There was one part oin episode 10 that was unclear to me. When the nun said they called to a police station after seeing MY’s scars and they told her they’d already found a missing boy on their poster? What was that about?

Hmm I feel like she's gunna make him go all bad again and I don't want that :tears:

Yes that was weird maybe that annoying detective that doesn't like JG said something to the nun.. but when MY was asking the nun the questions she looked quite suspicious like she was hiding something! Maybe I'm just looking too into it lol

Oh @April Twilights just voiced my exact guess to an alternate ending in which MY's father had somehow killed JK's father so then JG killed MY's father (the criminal). The writer has changed enough of the story (adding one more person to the drawing and revealing that JK already know she's not blood siblings with JG) to make me think that they would also alter the ending because who wants to watch a show that's an exact mirror of the original? There'd be no excitement in that for viewers. I'm hoping the writer is smart enough to come up with another twist at the end because as a viewer, I do want to be surprised and shocked and not watch a repeat of a J-drama.

On another note, I was curious why the writer added in the line "I want to sleep with you." Most dramas would just skip that and segue straight into the bed scene. Was that dialogue there to show how honest and open MY is with JK? Or was it to show that JK agreed and consented to it as well so when the crap hits the fan later on, viewers know that it was the both of them that willingly stepped over the edge and dove head on into this relationship?

What I wouldn't give to know what the screenwriter and PD's thoughts were on this scene....

And speaking of the hotel scene, I love how it was shot and the choice that was made to actually show them leading onto sleeping together instead of just kissing and then suddenly waking up together the next morning. It was such a natural and tender scene that was done right. I almost felt like I was intruding on their secret moment together as a viewer and just wanted to give them the moment to themselves as they captivatingly gazed at one another.

The way they mirrored each others' actions and held their arms up like school children about to receive punishment but then transitioning into looking at each other as if they couldn't believe they found such a beautiful angel in front of theirs eyes...wow. Such a very well directed scene that was shot in a delicate manner.

This is such a gem.

Even if the story and plotline as a whole can be draggy and nonsensical, the powerful individual scenes like the one above makes this drama a standout amidst the cliched and lackluster shows out there. Bravo!

Hello, everyone! It's my very first time posting in a Soompi forum, I'm always just a silent lurker :D. But, I can't help but join in on the discussion as I'm loving the show so much. It's unlike most KDramas I've watched (and boy, I've watched plenty!). Overall tone is dark, but the slivers of sunshine we get every now and then (like that gem of a bed scene which was all kinds of tender and imbued with so much love) are more than enough to get me so hooked on the show.

As regards the comment of @hoyund above, I actually appreciated Moo-young voicing out that he wants to sleep with Jin-kang. I saw it as a very clear asking for consent, which in this age of #metoo is a good step forward in dramaland

And yes, I'm worried big time, too, that Moo-young despite his efforts to be a good person, won't be able to keep the effort for too long because of Jin-gook and that evil sister whose name I forget and don't want to remember.

  Reveal hidden contents

Can you tell me how it went with the stabbing in the J-version? Did Yuko know about it?

Spoiler

In Japanese version, Yuko does not know that Ryo has been stabbed. She does not see Kanzo stab him, or Ryo lying in the street. If i remember, Ryo is just outside of Yuko line of vision. She just waits for him to meet her, and then is wondering where he is when he doesn't show up. I can't remember how Ryo survives the stabbing in Japanese version. He doesn't go to hospital, but I think he goes to a friend? Maybe someone else has better memory of what happens to Ryo after the stabbing.

@aisling"There was one part oin episode 10 that was unclear to me. When the nun said they called to a police station after seeing MY’s scars and they told her they’d already found a missing boy on their poster? What was that about?"

This was a little confusing for me too. I think what the nun said was the director of the orphanage called the police station after seeing MY burn scars because she thought MY might be the poster boy and the police told her the missing boy on the poster had already been found. I think that the police lied to the orphanage, but not sure why since I think JG had not moved to Seoul yet and was still looking for MY in Haesan.

Also, I agree that the bed scene was phenomenal! Kudos to the director, cinematographer, and the actors! It was beautifully shot and came across as both tender and real. I think much of the scene was improvised by  the actors and director, with a lot of trust by everyone involved. I know SIG has worked with the PD before, and are he and JSM friends in real life? Regardless, they are definitely showing trust in their acting partners to get that level of results, in my opinion.

I've noticed how the drama can be so subtle in giving us clues and whatnot (that's why each episode calls for a rewatching). I am wondering what you guys think of that seemingly out-of-context scene where Moo young had another nightmare and two cuts of Jin kang cleaning her house were interwoven into the after-nightmare scene. Is the act of JK cleaning a metaphor for her role in clearing away the cobwebs in MY's memory? That she is the key to unlocking the forgotten memories of his childhood?

Also, I think it echoes the role of JK as the one who pulls MY out of death or darkness as what MY admitted to her that he heard her voice twice- during the car crash and while having the nightmare and it was JK's voice that brought him back to consciousness.

Lastly, I just love how JK brings life to MY and his world. I love how the flowers and plants in the rooftop are testament to JK's breathing life into MY's dreary, lifeless world. Even Jin Gook was taken aback and was unsettled when he saw the flowers in MY's place. Even MY's home (if home is what you can call it) was better lit with sunshine streaming in for what I think was the first time in 10 episodes. JK indeeed brings life and light to his world. On a lighter note, MY's hole is even more hideous by day and with sunshine pouring in haha. I hope JK buys him a set of cups right now :P

Though the flower may indicate that something bright happened to MY life, but i'm a bit skeptical about this. From all the flowers why they choose chrysanthemum. Especially the yellow one. They could pick the red or violet. But why yellow? The writer loves to give us the ambiguity. Yellow is such bright color. The MY's colorless life turns bright after JK comes to his life.

But , Yellow chrysanthemum is also symbolize as neglected love or sorrow.

I’ve noticed that scene too. What if she discovers the box and finds out herself what is inside that box? That was my interpretation of the scene. We have more 6 episodes to go, we’ll see.

Another scene already mentioned by another user here (can’t remember, sorry) was maybe in episode 5 when MY helps JK walking to the front door of her house. He watches her putting the code.

@aisling What @Table122000 said is precisely correct.

Spoiler

Ryo and Yuko were supposed to meet, but then he was blocked by her brother when he was almost near her and then stabbed him. Then he took a cab while still looking at Yuko and went somewhere, I forgot where to though as well. So Yuko does not know.
