The chemistry was so good in the beginning but it all went downhill after ep8 with the irrational characters in the Lang household and ridiculous plot. Started as a rom com on crack but now going into miserable melodrama territory. I want to barf seeing Yue Ming in his continuous pity parade. I’m only holding on for Hai Tang...when will Yue Xuan’s playful charm return? Sigh

i liked this at first but the girl is such a pushover omg she let everyone step all over her. The styling isnt good too, do the girls no justice. Then the whole family is ridiculous, i keep thinking if i was her i'd prob off myself instead of staying, they really torture her. Yueming is annoying, Yuexuan has no backbones and lost his charms. She hates Yuexuan for lying to her but girl you almost lie to him too. Everything kinda fell apart and i stopped watching.

I'm kind of interested in where this one goes, tbh

Yeah, there's definitely issues with this one, (mostly in the writing & directing by my thoughts) but I'm interested in the pay off - where it's going to go politically.  There is also some gorgeous cinematography tbh.

Personally I'd like to see the downfall of all three wealthy families at some point & see all their wealth go to the community, lol.

Fwiw, this is set in Republican era China so Hai Tang being gracious, makes sense in the context she's set in, being a woman @ that time & especially having to deal with with rich & powerful families who are all awful & exploitative (which rich people pretty much all are anyways) I actually don't think she's that much of a pushover?  More than gracious, yes, but she stands up for herself, her loved ones, and does things the way she wants to, despite living in a repressive era.
