@bluehibiscus thanks for translating the poem!

When you get a chance, can you please help us by summarizing what CP said to WX from the time he untied her until the time Ding Suai hauled him away. Please. :)

His recalling of how brutal he has been to WX on numerous occasions was heartbreaking.

CP: Where is she?

Chang An: Wang just went over with some men.

CP: (relieved) Go fetch a few things for me.

The scene cuts to the bedchamber.

Wang: You are at death’s door and you still dare to put on airs, I’m—

CP: Let go of her. I said, let go of her!

Wang: Are you alright? Does Your Highness wish to question her personally?

CP: Leave, I want to question her personally.

Wang: Leave, leave.

Flashback begins.

CP: You don’t know how much I envy the one who will be able to see her.

WX: I once admired Your Highness very much.

CP: It is not good for a lady to lie about such things

WX: Can’t Your Highness listen to the lie as if it were the truth?

WX: One day...Let me remain just one more day.

CP: A wealthy person will not sit or sleep near the eaves for fear of the tiles falling. Sorry, I don’t think you are worth one day.

CP: You, who on earth are you? Speak! Your unspeakable secrets, your life, are not worthy of being compared to her!

WX: Your Highness can punish or kill me for my wrongs and sins. I am willing to accept them but please don’t drive me out! I have no place to go to!

WX: I will be obedient in future. Don’t drive me out.

CP: What has it to do with me?

WX: Your Highness! Your Highness! Only he won’t do, Your Highness! Are you going to abandon me once more?

Flashback ends.

CP: May I...touch you?

WX’s voiceover: For those who died with a grievance, Your Highness will help prove their innocence in the future, right?

WX:Those were foolish words of mine. I won’t say them ever again. Let me tidy my appearance. Be it Kong He or the Ministry of Justice, I will go on my own.

WX: What is this for?

CP: May I...touch you?

Outside the bedchamber:

Wang: What did I say? I already said before, Chen neiren, no matter how evil or heartless she is, she wouldn’t...She is the most heartless of them all! She’s...! It’s all my fault, my fault! If I had stopped her, how could such a thing have happened?

(Gets down on his knees)

Your Empress Highness...Your Empress Highness, I wasn’t capable, I wasn’t able to stop...if you are listening, please protect the Crown Prince.

Inside the bedchamber:

CP: When Zhang Shangfu combed my hair in the past, she used to tell I have very good hair. If she were to see your hair...You don’t know who she is. After all, at that time, you were still...She was a servant of my mother. She’s no longer around (means dead) but if she were still around and my mother were still around, that day on Mid-Autumn Festival wouldn’t have...

(lets out a sigh)

it was very painful. It hurts even now. At first, I was still keeping count but I lost track because of the pain. I kept thinking why haven’t I fainted? Why haven’t I...died? I remembered what you said. When the pain was especially great, there was no need to put up with it. Chen Qian asked me to bite the hand, I thought it a loss of face. Later...

(heavy sigh)

nothing mattered anymore. It was true I couldn’t hold the brush and because it was him (ZLZ), it was true I didn’t dare use my seal. But I did intend, if something were to happen, to abandon you. l thought of it. If it were to really happen, in the dark hours of the night, if I occasionally thought of you in my dreams, perhaps I will feel unbearably regretful. Perhaps I will be completely unmoved. After all, you are not the only one I have abandoned or let down or to give me nightmares. You...how are you different from anyone else? What’s so special about you...Ah Bao?

Scene of Wang pleading with Dian Shuai, saying CP has been framed.

...so I won’t regret. And I won’t apologise. I most definitely won’t make amends. These...

Dian Shuai enters and asks CP to receive the edict.

These are all...my heartfelt words!

Ep 54 where the following monologues are related.

Leaves the residence escorted by Kong He guards.

I...will not apologise...when it is unforgiveable, what is the use of apologising?

I will not make amends...so many things, how to make amends?

I most definitely will not regret...now that things have come to this, it is too late for regrets.

Gets into the carriage.

These are all my heartfelt words...except for...in the dark hours of the night, if I occasionally thought of you in my dreams, perhaps I will be completely unmoved. That was a lie. Now that things have come to this pass, there is nothing left to anticipate. My only consolation is that you have not become another of my nightmares, Ah Bao (means my precious treasure).

The person who requested for the synopsis of Ep44-47 hasn’t responded to my posts for Ep 44-45 (perhaps she found the content elsewhere already) so I’m not sure if I want to continue with Ep 46 and Ep47 as it is quite tiring on my eyes. If anyone else wants the English synopses for these episodes, let me

Sorry, I read it ... I just wanted to go from 44 to the end ... because I watched all the episodes not with eng subtitles ... so it's really blind what is being talked about is just watching the facial mimic only ..
but it's not good to ask @bluehibiscus ... it's so troublesome ...
but thank you very much @bluehibiscus:)

I have notice that Wenxi use the crane hairpin in the second (?) time she visit the CP in jail. However she trying to be detached from him, or making up any reason to not visit him, the hairpin just a dead give away.

But it really seems that after the first visit in the night, she have intended to leave definitely and not coming back. I found it a little bit conflict with the analysis of @bluehibiscus, because if she have planned to take the blame of framing CP in the first hand, then she should try her best to stay in town, or even inside the Kong He from the very beginning, not after when 5P told her a bout the date and time of the trial?

Yes, the crane hairpin is a giveaway of her feelings.

I think she wasn’t aware the trial would take place at King He Bureau at first. When she told CP she was going to leave, I think she meant going to prison/dying or she didn’t want him to have hopes of her staying with him.

Thanks for letting me know you’ve read them. If I have the time, I will try to write the summaries. If not, I will stick to translating scenes that I like or that is requested by someone. Cheers!

It is Quan, the last character of DQ’s name.

Sorry to bother you but if I'm understanded well, his name "Ding Quan" means "Fixed/Predestined (Ding) Power (Quan)" right? (I'm from an Asian country where we borrow a lot of Chinese vocabulary, even we don't use the same alphabetical system. In my language his name may have such meaning).

If that's the case, that would be an irony if in the end he didn't seize the throne. But I think a retreat from the royal "nirvana" could give him the best life that he deserved.

In Chinese royal families, the tradition was to have a common character for each generation of sons so I feel the second character is not so significant as the last character is the one specially chosen for the person. He was the natural successor to the throne by birth so when the Emperor chose that name, he did have hopes for him to hold power. Ding can mean “fixed” but in this context, I would go with “decide” or “determine”.

@bluehibiscus, thanks for doing this for us!  This drama is so exquisite, that even the angst is so silky smooth. Painful. But oh so beautiful.

In above quote, do you think CP meant what he said? Would he really have abandoned her.... or is this CP’s way of consoling her? To make sure she’s not pained or feel guilt by his (impending) death, which would have been the punishment as he had accepted responsibility.

So many layers and deliberate misleading clues. I love how this drama makes you think, and you have to rewatch to gain further insight. No one character is black or white. Good or bad. There’s just layers for us to peel and figure out. :)

You’re welcome. I just added a translation for a related part in Ep 54. Go to the previous post and take a look.

@bluehibiscus, oh my goodness. His monologue just made me tear up.

Damn the producers for being cheap and not having subbed episodes for international fans. So much we’ve lost, not understanding this beautiful drama’s play on words.

I heard they spent a lot of money producing this drama. I thought there are English subtitles on Amazon and Youtube? Not sure if Viki has it.

what he is trying to say here? I’m unable to infer what he implies

1) He was complimenting WX’s hair.

2) He believed things would have been different on Mid Autumn Festival if his mother were still alive.

3) The beating was very agonising. He described what he felt during the beating.

4) He injured his hand when he bit it to avoid screaming during the beating. He wasn’t pretending to be unable to write to make her write the letter to ZLZ (earlier she had accused him during the bathing scene of teaching her to write in Zong Zheng Si because he planned to make her the scapegoat. He denied it and explained he had taught her because she did have the talent for it).

5) He didn’t put his seal on the letter because it was easier to deny the letter was written by him if ZLZ decided to use it against him.

6) He didn’t want her to feel bad about getting him into trouble so he said if something had happened, he would have gladly let her take the blame and he did not regret thinking that.

7) He still called her Ah Bao - it was his way of expressing she was his precious treasure.

Just an observation. In ep 55 at the Emperor Banquet. Did anyone notice the Emperors look towards the empty chair of CP and the look he gave Prince Qi. Also, when Prince Qi made a toast the Emperor looked reluctant to accept it. I think it just dawned on the Emperor that his favourite son was a evil person.
