OK, a fast dot at the end of the line. In a speedy hurry the drama gets wrapped up ~ bad guys were sent to the jail or convicted ~ good guys walk in the park holding hands ~ other couple again reconciled and try coming back together ~ and other guys could thrive their business ~ and everything get OK because of criminal kh ~ may God put such criminal on the our way too :P

The lead actress didn't attend in the party and brushed the shipping theory all aside  ~ as I heard she has a bf and shipping them????  at least she herself knows  and avoided that after ending the project. But hope they win the couple award and at that event walk on the red carpet holding hand.

But here you are at the wrap up party pics that's beautiful Nara is there !:kiss_wink:

SBS’s “Your Honor” has ended on a high note!

The finale of the drama, which aired on September 20, managed to take first place in its time slot for the evening. According to Nielsen Korea, “Your Honor” scored average viewership ratings of 6.3 percent during its first half and 8.4 percent during its second, marking a slight increase from the night before.

MBC’s “Time” also came to an end on September 20. The drama, which aired four episodes instead of its usual two, scored average viewership ratings of 2.7 percent, 3.3 percent, 3.6 percent, and 3.6 percent for its respective episodes.

Meanwhile, KBS 2TV’s “The Ghost Detective” achieved average ratings of 3.0 percent and 3.3 percent for its two parts.

SBS’s new medical drama “Heart Surgeons” will be replacing “Your Honor” on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting on September 27, while MBC’s “Terius Behind Me” will take over the time slot previously occupied by “Time.”

I still have to watch the final eps... But what's all this buzz about the ending is rushed & bad..??!!

I hate to say this, but I lost my interesting in this drama half way through the journey... I felt that there were soooo many villain scenes rather than hero scenes... So all I did is skipping, skipping & skipping of all sucked scenes of those villains... But any way, I must give the final eps a try..!!!

Just watched in insta some scenes without sub so maybe my understanding of the scenes would be wrong ... I'm really wandering how SH could be such ungrateful toward KH who for the second time saved his life and even doesn't care to his call or at least  listen what he was trying tell him and reject his call? ... How always our innocent angel should pay for SH's faults and he could be such careless

and inconsiderate?

SE awfully shocked while finding he as SH is the one who gave the false testimony against her sister in the court ... but how she wasn't curious to ask KH himself why he did that and not just trusting in what SCH had told about him?

SE had a big role for motivating KH to get a good person but KH as the angel tattoo on his hand was the angel descending in her life to light her eyes again with seeing her sister and delighting  her heart with such a big happiness ... also giving her the courage of defending herself against abusers and making easy her way for getting a judge by giving the best points to her worksheet ... and furthermore her heart gets warm of existing such righteous and responsible authorities in this important field... how after a long time but in a short period she could experience all these hopefulness and happiness as well a  pure and sincere love of him ...

I know after awhile(though it is tonight :D) she will find the truth and maybe they reunited again as a couple in love, or maybe just as a friend who helps and encourages him in his education and work, but both of them were an angel in each other's life ... I hope the first one happen and they get a couple , maybe in this way SH would play his right role and explain to her about his faults towards his brother and the truth gets clarified for her ...

How heart delighting is his smiley face!

@Maryam agree, sh is really selfish! He has no idea of sincerity , as his mother had found out and mentioned that to him. Kh saved his life but he even could not ignore some minutes of his sleep to listen to kg what is his  problem.

Luckily yours and my wish came true and kh & se reunited again with more love. Though @Minoo Maani guessed that before. ♥️

Well, the drama began fast with exciting scene while police was running after kh, and agree it ended hastily, but I like its ending , it was so exciting and emotional too. Especially I love when kh and se held their hands and the emotional gesture of se was adorable and while her bracelet got torn showing her wish came true was too much impressive. I think i follow her works after this project.

Honestly the ending is kind of boring...!! What happened to the misunderstandings between two brothers..?? Did they solve them..?? And what's the ending for the prosecutor..?? And most importantly, shouldn't they include a  beautiful kiss for the OTP at the ending...??!! Everyone says that YSY is a good kisser.... Looks like he wasted at the end. :D And still can't get that mother...!! It started out in a high plot, but the ending is confused... I wonder how it got the highest ratings of the time slot for the final eps...!!! Could have done better.... Clearly it's a rushed ending.........

We finally got closure on SE’s unni and the case of sexual harassment with the procesecutor. We also had our couple end up together in the end with KH miraculously getting away with impersonating a judge and her finally knowing but accepting him for who he really is.

that said, I’m still confused on a few things and not sure if they were addressed in show but I overlooked them. What in the heck ended up happening to that wife and brother in law that were trying to get revenge? What happened to SC’s lawyer dad? And wasn’t SC getting revenge for SE? By the looks of it when he was in law firm, we would be worse than he his dad especially after how he told her about SH being one that gave testimony just to hurt her cause she’s in love with KH.

Also i’m kinda disappointed by how they treated the reveal. I mean now that she knows he was an impersonator and works for the law, wouldn’t she be a hypocrite a little bit? I don’t know, I’m glad she accepted him and he’s not like in jail for his actions. But it just seemed a bit uncharacteristic or inconsistent on how this ended up.

I watched the ending this morning (work stopped me from commenting about it sooner) and I was so disapointed. I rewatched the ending of episode 12 just after because I feel like it was the highest of this drama. Instead, after SH disapear, their mom would ask KH to take his place to protect his bro and to look for him. I wanted it to be the red string on this drama. While doing that, he learn that her perfect son was corrupted and decide to be better than him to show his bro and mom.

I wanted that at episode 13-14, we saw the fight with the corrupt prosecutor, SC and co then at the end of episode 14, they reveal that It's KH and not SH. We see that people KH was fair to defend him and all.

I found what we got boring. I could accept it until the end of episode 12 but then I feel we go directly to just the romance.

Okay, I'm somewhat satisfied with the ending but not completely. It felt rushed. See I knew this wasn't going to be wrapped up properly, something wasn't right. I think the episode number had been cut, that has to be the only explanation. Which I don't understand when the show had the highest ratings out of all its competitors.

The things that really bothered me:

  • SE's sister. I'm glad the sisters reunited but JY was completely selfish here. I'm sorry but that's how I feel. Now I understand if she felt she had to get away from everything for some months or a year. Or wanted to move away and start over. But not contacting her sister for 7 years? SE comes to see her married and has a kid. You don't do that! JY doesn't let SE know she's fine, where she is, gets married without her and doesn't let her know about her niece. SE has felt so lonely for all that time while she had her husband, daughter and sister-in-law. 7 years! I actually expected the rape case to get resolved too. I'm surprised KH didn't have a more angrier reaction when he found out what SH did.
  • The brothers and mother. Not much I can say here, things just didn't feel resolved. I still can't stand SH, I hate the fact that KH had to beg him to help. SH, you owe KH. He saved your life twice. First time all those years ago and just recently. SH, my feelings for you still have not changed. The mom, she admitted her wrongs, I appreciate it. But I would have like for her to harder on SH for how he treated KH all those years including why wasn't the knife incident brought up? KH got framed by his own brother for something he didn't commit.

giphy.gif

  • I actually expected people to find out sooner about SH having a twin brother. Especially SE. But the prosecutor found out in the end and I guess other people will too.
  • What was the point of JE and SC's characters?

It was nice watching this show, definitely one of my favorites this year but the ending could have been better. Still love YSY as always and becoming a fan of Lee Yoo Young. Still can't believe that's her from Tunnel. Can't wait for their next projects!

I actually quite liked and enjoyed the finale!! I thought I was going to be disappointed but I liked the flow of things, how not overly dramatic it was. All the main characters came to a sort of realisation and it was subtle and realist.

I actually totally understood why JY had to run away and could not contact SE. The longer she waited, the harder and scarier it was. I think she was punishing herself in a way, for having left and for having caused so many problems. She probably was not confident enough, especially after what had happened to her. This is a recurring theme as both SH and KH were/are not confident. SH was and as we have seen, his actions actually made up lose all confidence. KH was but him being around SE and going after a proper life made him confident. I liked how the secondary characters also had this dilemma, a very common one in today's society. JY was not trying to be selfish, on the contrary, she thought that if she left, things would be better for everyone. She thought (and probably still thinks) that she was the cause of all her family's problems. Her parents living the country because of her was probably the final strick... I mean can you imagine what that would do to your confidence, especially after you have been sexually assaulted and the guy has been found not guilty?!?

In the same vein, I also really liked the whole tension around the trial for sexual harassment. It was horrible for people to question her, for her to have to stop working. But it certainly shows the many issues there are in society in relation to sexual assault. Especially in korea, where the woman is held responsible if that happens to her; she is as shameful if not more than the perpetuator. Anyway, that is another subject......

I also liked how their mother apologized to KH. It was subtle but genuine. Totally felt like it could happen in a family, an environment where it is harder to say sorry. She finally said what KH wanted to hear: sorry. That was not over the top, just very realist.

SH - not much resolution and I like that. But I truly believe he is on the right road. It is not at the end of it and he knows it. Hence his telling his gf that he will wait. He needs more time to fix things and himself. Him writing the letter for KH was also a step in the right direction.

I thought I wanted to see more of SE and KH together but I actually enjoyed their time appart. KH needed this to get his certification and SE to understand why KH had lied and plyaed the role of a judge. I loved when she said: "He wasn'' a judge but he was a judge". YES! That was the whole point of the drama really... I liked how she realised that by herself, in front of her sister.

My only complaint for the interaction between SE and KH before they hold hands at the end. I actually like the subtle acknowledgment of their feelings. The way it was tensed and how he reached out for her hand, and she hold his in return, and how they were crying. Perfect! Again, not over the top, totally realist I thought. However, just before, when she talks to him in the courtroom and when she asks him to cook for him, I thought she was a bit condescending with him... Did not particularly liked the tone of her voice... That would be my only complaint really.

Overall, I really enjoyed it because it was realist and subtle, not over the top. Of course, it would have been nice to see some scenes of their future together. Of KH eating with SE and her sister's family at the same table, of SE becomming a judge, etc. Just tiny glimpses after that hand holding would have been nice but I guess those are going to happen in my mind :P

Closing Arguments

First of all I want to thank everyone who contributed to this discussion and not to forget Right honorable presiding moderators @bebebisous33 (insightful interjections story and character wise), @Jillia and @jeijei (ring in to clarify issues about number of pics) for maintaining order and keeping the peace. @partyon for relevant defense of a single mother's plight, @carolinedl for noticing subtleties, @rachelyun and @icemaid for posting relevant articles and ratings, @jongski for your unfailing belief in saving even the worst of individuals - thanks to all.  I even want to extend a shout out to invisible dissenters (who I no longer see) without whom I would not have had to rethink my arguments and fortify my positions.

My initial feelings on the ending was one of bewilderment and disappointment.  There seemed to be so much left unsaid.  Where was my happy ever after kDrama style?  It was only after a second viewing and utilizing the rubric of what was threaded right through the drama that forced me to change my initial point of view.  Given the fact that the writer had 3 years to pen this, I have come to believe that the ending was deliberate on his part, it was not a slapped up at the last minute affair or rushed because of scheduling. What was he trying to leave the viewer with at the close?  The whole thrust of DJ was about a message.  When you have the acting leads saying in their initial interview that they were constantly having their views on justice challenged as they played their characters and read their scripts, it must be that the writer is expecting that for the audience as well.

The KH-SE relationship
Suffice to say that for the KH-SE relationship it was all about the hands.  Hand porn. The high fives with lingering time, the hand holds after the high five. It was never about overt intimacy.  Yes that kiss scene was spectacular but it was one scene.  What defined their relationship was their hands and the hand holds.  A lot of us expected a KDrama formula of relationships and also how a drama unfolds but DJ has showed us from the get go that it wasn't formulaic (probably why so many didn't tune in because it was too real and didn't follow KDrama 'rules').  So yes I was desperately disappointed that I didn't get that kiss or fireworks but in the grand scheme of things, their hand hold, walking in the park and continuing the conversation over a home cooked meal was very ordinary (exactly how their relationship was from the beginning), it was realistic...writer Nim chose to keep it real.  Their hand hold was what was important in their relationship, that and talking so to end that way fitted in perfectly for the KH-SE relationship.  And that to me is enough (it still pains my shipping heart though ::tears::).  Their relationship was consistently real and ordinary from start to finish and therein lies the beauty of it.  KH's delighted face when she closed her hand around his said it all.  She accepted him for who he was and they would start afresh with no secrets anymore, it was more than enough for him.  Was she condescending?  Perhaps.  But he was lapping it up coz she was talking to him and that seemed to be enough for now.  Progress. Baby steps.

A story with partial resolutions
I think that's the recurring theme of the whole show.  Life is not tied up in neat little bows.  Situations and circumstances are always “work in progresses” and the drama reflected that consistently.  The husband whose wife got hit by a drunk driver, the man whose father lost his eye, PJH’s case, even the blind girl and paramedic cases.  Partial resolution...some semblance of closure but never quite complete.  Same with her sister's rape.  We never know if the rapist will ever be punished in this life for his sin.  Acceptance of partial resolutions may be what’s required to get on the business of living.  Relentless pursuit of an ideal outcome which may never eventuate in our lifetime is a viable option for some but not for all.  Both have merits and neither is better than the other.  All the other legal cases seem to have had more satisfactory paths to resolution than the glaring 2 that are left.  That of OSC and the sexual assault by the Prosecutor.  In fact, one could be fair to say that OSC’s Ascension to the head of the law firm is almost a punch in the guts of justice?  And whilst SE has been acquitted, creepy Prosecutor is still out there?  His reputation may be in tatters but no justice served yet?  What was the writer trying to say here?  Again in the real world, there are those who will escape the long arm of the law.  I feel like the writer deliberately left us feeling uncomfortable so we don't just turn off the TV and leave feeling satisfied.  He wants to leave the audience still angry with the unresolved injustices of this world to persist in fighting the good fight long after that finale because there are still people like OSC and creepy Prosecutor out there to deal with.

All relationships are work in progresses
The happy ever after that we seek rarely exists in real life.  Even our OTP still have issues to deal with although theirs is the one with the greatest chance of success.  The relationships with SH and JE was given new beginnings but it’s tenuous.  I can’t see JE giving up her position in Germany and SH has to remain to settle the PJH case as a witness. The relationship between the twins has still a way to go yet - and yes I agree with @scarletlover1, whilst SH is on that path of redemption, he is still pompous and full of himself, his character has a way to go yet before I can actually like him (to make your brother have to grovel before you extend help to him is just mean spirited and petty). The Family relationship between the twins and the mom is also showing early signs of being resolved but again, no full resolution.  You need to keep working at relationships whilst at the same time growing yourself as an individual.  I like how despite the devastation of their initial break up, SE and KH both didn't just wallow but instead galvanized themselves to pursue their dreams on their own thus firming themselves as individuals before their reconciliation.

Concluding thoughts

I think that's the recurring theme of the whole show.  Life is not tied up in neat little bows.  It’s gritty.  It’s real.  It’s hard going and painful.  DJ defied all conventional ideas of saccharine-like kDrama expectations.  It has a message to convey.  It wants the audience to move to act in your little sphere of reality to fight for what's right socially and work hard at dealing with what’s important relationally.  It never ends.  You do what's right not because it will bring you the exact results you expect it to.  You do it just because it is the right thing to do regardless.  This quote comes to mind as I finish, “No one can go back and have a different beginning (Familiar Wife explores this and probably why I didn't like the premise at all) but everyone can start where they are at and create for themselves a different ending.”

See you all in DramaLand again soon. I will be roosting in the shippers thread for the moment till I decide what to watch next. :)

Just now with tearful eyes finished the last eps ... Though the drama wrapped up in haste and somehow there could be notice inconsistency and incoherence in these few last eps scenario but in general it was so touching and moving ... Maybe we expected an upshot for every character of this drama but the fact is that in the real world issues don't happen at the same time we expect ... So this drama quitclaim the upshot of the characters on our own conclusions and did put each of us in the status of a judge how we ousrselves do the judgement for them and for each case ...

Anyway I think the effects that we might perceive , mostly has done and again I present my sincere thankfulness to all the cast and staffs of this project ... I got so touched by that ...

There are some points that I would like to share ... First: how twins' mother who herself was not sincere about one of her twins KH, expect the other twin SH who in all long of his life has observed and copied his own mother ways Could learn how to be sincere to others? ... And she thought she's grown up her sons wrongly whereas she herself was wrong with her attitudes and manners ... SH learnt of her how to justice others when his mother without knowing and researching about the truth made punishment more about KH, and I think KH' anger was caz of her behavior to him ... if we put aside withdrawal of KH name from her ID paper, she had a total discrimination toward him in every aspect even for putting some meat in his food ... even in her kind of concerns to him when said be careful about your brother's car and not about KH himself ... even in her tone and kinds of words to him , and many other things which our angle angel KH must have tolerated with his deeply broken heart during his life ... :heartbreak:

And how yet SH selfishly continued with his callous manner about KH... Though finally he complied KH's request but his act has not the worth if he would do that without begging and crying of KH ...

About the prosecutor for the SE case, anyway he got blackened with the sextual abusing frame and after that he makes bound himself in his behaviors towards other women ...

About SCH and his father , in these eps the father got punished with the hands of his own son and got what he deserved and SCH though not in the show but he himself  would got the same fortune of his father too if would follow his way ...

The scene that SE said about KH' talk about judicial system was wonderful and she could perceive KH completely when she herself was experiencing his situation in a real event.

The most touching message of this show was the biggest hearty wish of SE which revealed to us by tearing her bracelet and it was him, angle angel KH...

And I should say though all elements in this show were wonderful and highly impressive but I got the most effect from our angelic innocent talented actor "Adorable Yoon Si Yoon" ... Again entirely under his magic of acting! ...

I'm so glad of knowing such nice and talented actress as Yuyoung and as @Farbod Asha I will follow her too as much as I can ... :)

“Your Honor” Cast Shares Thoughts About Drama’s Conclusion

Sep 21, 2018
by nature1010

The cast of “Your Honor” have expressed their farewells to the drama following its conclusion.

Yoon Shi Yoon played the dual roles of judge Han Soo Ho and his delinquent criminal twin brother Han Kang Ho, who impersonates him.

Through his agency, the actor shared, “I was lacking but I was always loved. Thank you to all the fans who always said that the lacking aspects were the best. It was because of that love that I was able to have courage and take on this challenge, as well as grow. When you see me in my next project, I will have improved, and I won’t lose in my battle with myself and will show diverse sides of myself. Please wait a little while. I will greet you all with good news. I will become an actor that always works hard. Thank you.”

Lee Yoo Young took on the role of judge-in-training Song So Eun, who reunites with her sister and begins a new romance with Han Kang Ho.

She remarked, “Thanks to the many viewers who supported and loved ‘Your Honor,’ I was able to gain strength and work hard to act well. Though there were difficult aspects in my thoughts and concerns regarding acting, it felt good when we filmed each episode. I loved Song So Eun, who always said the right things and acted justly, and who lived her life honorably and firmly.”

Hello Venus’s Nara played announcer Joo Eun, Han Soo Ho’s girlfriend who pushed him in the right direction towards justice when he became corrupt.

Nara commented, “The first filming seems like yesterday, but it’s already the last filming so it’s very sad. It is thanks to the director who always did his best, the amazing writer, the senior actors whom I respect, and the staff members who worked hard on set that the time with Joo Eun on ‘Your Honor’ was a happy time.” She added, “As intense as this summer was, ‘Your Honor’ conveyed passionate enthusiasm and happiness. Thank you to everyone who loved Joo Eun and me. As I send Joo Eun off, I will work hard to greet you all with a new character. Please give me a lot of love and interest in the future as well.”

Heo Sung Tae took on the role of Hong Jung Soo, a prosecutor who plotted to take down Han Soo Ho.

He shared, “Hello, I’m ‘prosecutor Hong’ Heo Sung Tae. While I acted as Hong Jung Soo, I worked hard to look at things with a different perspective, to carry the mindset of a villain, and to show the balance between his rigidity and flexibility. Within this process, I gained the opportunity to study this. I’m thankful to the character Hong Jung Soo. As an actor, I’ve become more strong and I’ve grown.”

“Your Honor” concluded on September 20.

I finally watched the last episodes of this drama. Like many others said, I felt that the ending was rushed. The writer tried to cram in too many story lines in the episodes, and that's why I felt like we didn't get those emotions I have felt in other episodes.

A few thoughts:

  • I liked that the mother finally realized her mistakes, and was able to apologize to both brothers. I think that this was especially important for the healing process to begin within the family. It was apparent that also the mother had made choices because that was what was expected from her (the elders insisting that KH should be put in the relative's registry). She passed that mindset on, especially to SH.
  • How lovely that SE reunited with her sister! Even though the sister disappeared for so many years and outwardly seemed to be happy, a part of her was unhappy. The sister had to live with the pain of being parted from SE. Even though she felt that she was doing SE a favor, she must have been hurting. If there is something I have learned in life is that, at the time when a person disappears and stops contacting you, the person is always going through a hard time in their life / feeling bad about themselves. They might be scared. The longer time passes, the scarier it becomes to contact the person you abandoned. Therefore, it was fortunate for the sister, that SE found her first. :)
  • SH continued on his path towards redemption. He still has a long way to go, but he is taking baby steps. He needs to find sincerity and confidence in himself. When KH in desperation finally called him hyung, SH let himself get a little bit closer to KH. Both brothers still mistrust each other, and yes, I would have loved to see them actually talk it out, but I will take what I can get. :D  I guess it will still take some time, but I have faith they will become real brothers again.
  • OSC - no words except for a big sigh....
  • The scene with the ex-husband of Mantis's fiancé was funny but also sad at the same time. When KH took of Mr. Mantis' t-shirt and you could see the tattoos, it scared off the ex-husband. People are so easily judged by their appearance, characteristics, what they own, etc. and others make assumptions based on those. How many of us actually try see who people really are inside?
  • Which brings me to the drama's last episode. SE saw KH for who he really is and accepted him 100%. Even though she saw his tattoo and criminal record, she still had the courage to grab his hand and start on a journey together with him. She might in the future be judged by others for dating an ex-convict, but she doesn't care because she is confident in herself and KH.

I felt like this was ultimately a drama about forgiveness, especially about forgiving yourself and believing confidently in who you are. To understand that you are worth as much as anyone out there. But also about forgiving others for things they might have done to you. Forgiveness is a choice, and as long as you don't forgive someone, you will ultimately only hurt yourself.

It's also a drama about change, growth and healing. Pain and suffering may feel terrible, but doesn't one learn best from hardships?

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread ! If we ever get a season 2 of Your Honor/Dear Judge, I hope to see you all there. :)
