MBC’s “Bad Papa” has unveiled its official posters!

“Bad Papa” is about a man who chooses to become a bad person in order to become a good father. The fantasy thriller will include family love, intense action, and a questionable new drug.

The drama will tell the story of a former boxing champion named Yoo Ji Chul (played by Jang Hyuk) who gets everything taken away from him after a disgraceful loss, Choi Sun Joo (played by Son Yeo Eun) who works hard to overcome the hardships of life, and Yoo Young Sun (played by Shin Eun Soo) who threw away her dream of becoming a ballerina.

On September 19, “Bad Papa” revealed two posters that give viewers a peek at the drama’s emotions and message. In the first poster, viewers can feel the warmth and love radiating from the family of three. They stand with their backs to the evening glow and under the words, “I just wanted to be a normal dad.” With their daughter Yoo Young Sun between them, Yoo Ji Chul and Choi Sun Joo smile while holding each other close.

In the second poster, Yoo Ji Chul runs after his daughter to give her her backpack and the two look as if they’re bickering like any other father and daughter. Choi Sun Joo smiles as she walks ahead of them.

These posters were shot on August 6 in the Seodaemun District in Seoul. Despite the hot weather, the three actors cheered each other on and made each other laugh on set. Jang Hyuk warmly greeted the staff, Son Yeo Eun took good care of her co-stars, and Shin Eun Soo livened up the set with her smile.

A staff member said, “They’re all ‘icons of generosity’ who take care of others more than themselves, so the atmosphere while filming is warm. Please look forward to ‘Bad Papa,’ which will move you with laughter, sad tears, and overwhelming joy.”

“Bad Papa” will premiere on October 1 at 10 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki! In the meantime, check out the trailer with English subtitles below:

41952349_306091246846893_827689060064139

If you’ve been craving some action in your life, the upcoming drama Bad Papamight just fill that void. Jang Hyuk soon returns to our TV screens doing what he does best– looking fit and ready for a fight. And based on the newest teaser, it looks like fists are going to be flying, fast and furious!

Synopsis: Yoo Ji Cheo makes a difficult decision to become a bad person in order to become a good father.  He used to be a top boxer, but he lost everything in a heartbreaking moment. All his hard-earned money and fame vanished overnight. After hitting rock bottom, he decides to gain control of his life again through mixed martial arts. [MyDramaList]

Normally I’m a happily-ever-after/OTP romance kind of girl, but every once in a while, I like to jump ship and dive into a drama that gets the adrenaline pumping. And Bad Papa seems like it just might fit the bill.  The trailer certainly has me amped up in anticipation of the inevitable gritty brawls and explosive chase scenes.  I’m still a bit curious about the fatherly aspect of the drama though.  How that particular thread of the story will be woven in remains to be seen.

What do you think drama fans–will you be cheering on the fight?

Bad Papa stars Jang Hyuk, Son Yeo Eun, and Shin Eun Soo and begins airing Monday, Oct 1st, on MBC.

Jang Hyuk is full of despair in new stills for MBC’s “Bad Papa.”

“Bad Papa” is about a man who decides to become a bad person in order to become a good father and fights to protect his family.

Jang Hyuk will appear as Yoo Ji Chul, a boxer and the breadwinner of his family. He became a boxing champion with his agility and punching skills until he lost his career and honor after a disgraceful loss. Dreaming of a comeback, he hopes to regain his family and become a good father once again.

In the stills, Yoo Ji Chul stands alone on a bridge at night. Swigging a bottle of soju, he looks lonely and hurt. He has a bandage on a bleeding wound on his forehead and his sighs are almost audible through the photos.

This scene was shot on Hangang Bridge on August 25. After concentrating on his emotions while looking at the bridge, the actor expressed the sadness of an exhausted man once the cameras began rolling. While filming for a little over three hours, the actor filled the atmosphere with gloominess and grabbed the attention of the staff on set.

A source from the drama said, “Jang Hyuk, who pours his heart into every project and moves everyone on set with his acting skills, is once again proving that ‘Jang Hyuk’s emotional acting is always right.’ Please look forward to the story of a father, story of a man, story of a boxer, and the story of people told through Jang Hyuk’s story as a breadwinner.

With the addition of fantasy elements, the story will be even more fun as it unfolds and moves the viewers even more.”

Translation of the interview in English by IG owner. Seems like Ji Chul is unwell...

Oh so maybe the blue pills are not illegal drugs to enhance his performance, but actually a drug to cure his illness ??

Oh and what is this ?

Oh and what is this ?

Looks like it.. maybe he lost his last boxing match due to this illness, and later on had no choice but to take part in a clinical trial to cure it so that he can return to boxing via MMA?

The post that showed him wearing a mask might be during his first MMA match after taking the drugs. Since he used to be a hero and ex boxing champion , he wouldn't want people to recognise him??

Ha ha. Why is he wearing a balaclava?

On the basis of YJC's and Ha jun's fighting pics it seems like he was a MMA fighter in the past not a  boxer.

I think he is wearing the balaclava because he is secretly training for the match. But if he has acquired super-human capacity then what does he need to train for?

Or is he going to embrace his 'bad' side completely by participating in an illegal fight?

Maybe he doesn't want his family to know about his participation?

Well... I have one trillion questions but have to wait till 1st October.
