*Spoilers of sorts*

::whispers LATE BLOOMER OVER HERE whispers::::::sweatingbullets:

IF anyone visits mydramalist site, you'll see my many comments about MIR and how the drama sort of normalized rape (Tee and Fuse was definitely a rape...one was drunk and could not consent to sex) And the Book/Frame one could be considered rape because Frame forced himself on Book...BUT i digress...

For LBC, I hope that doesn't become the case with the Techno/Kengkla coupling (though I was told that this isn't the case as they don't even have sex until much later in their relationship) I'm getting the vibe that this director is actually trying not to make a mockery of the LGBTQ-A community and might actually be trying to showcase real world experiences that Gay people often young ones go through. The true testament to how thoughtful this drama could be in that department, will be in the way they explore sex and consent with Pete/Ae and Techno/Kengkla. The Tin/Can i'm not too interested in, but I'll still watch them.

Anyways, I'm sooooo glad to see this getting 14 episodes! YAY...also, I've been counting down the hours until tomorrow and this is the first time I've ever been so invested in a BL drama (even with Diary of tootsies I wasn't this excited)

DBM was an awesome BL, even if there were so many plot holes, however, I'm glad they showcased messy relationships in a believable way. Not everyone gets their happy endings.

Oh okay, I've never been on that site so I haven't read these comments. I just remember those on Youtube and it was...scary -_-

I agree with you on KK and Techno...I really hope KK won't take advantage of a drunk Techno but the MV is a bit worrying to be honest...

I've read somewhere that in the novel they didn't get together before another 2 years or so but apparentky they changed thr pacing in the show, which is not very reassuring in this case. Anyway, fingers crossed as it is my favourite couple for now :sweatingbullets:

I'm a bit skeptical of the locker scene that everyone is thrilled about for now as well...for me Pete looksore scared than excited in the preview, so I'm waiting to see how it plays out :o

Is that both scene can be considered as a rape?

Ep 1, 35:17
Fuse is on the Tee's bed and look at Tee which is bare-chested.
Tee: What's wrong with you
Fuse: What will you doing?
Tee: I'm sticky, i go to the shower
Fuse (looking at Tee's chest): You have a nice body, you must have lot of success
Tee (stting on the bed close to Fuse): You too. Growing up, you become so cute. How many girls you slept with?
Fuse: I would like but only have one love sorrow
Tee: That's the way! I will make you feel better!
Fuse: Tee... i'm really sad. Have i doing something wrong? Why Jeann do it this to me?
Tee: You have growing up! Why cry like a baby? Stop to whine!
Fuse: I love her! I really love her!
Tee: More you cry, more you look as a baby. Are you a baby?
Fuse: Tee.
Tee: Speak no more?
Fuse: Thanks for take care of me, Tee, you are a true friend
Tee: No problem, it please to me.
Fuse: Why don't you get up?
Tee: I will go when you feel better
Fuse: Ok, i feel good.
Tee: If you said it, i go.

While Tee only wear his underwear, Fuse suddenly to hang on Tee's shoulders
Fuse: Wait, i take a shower with you.
Tee: Ok, hurry up!

Then there is the sequence he can't unzip his trouser. Tee try to help unzipping while Fuse reminds Mo's talking:
"Find one (male) friend. Find one friend, find one friend..."
Fuse: Tee.
Tee: What?
Fuse: Do you already have sex with a boy?
Tee (after a reflexion moment): No, never! Why? You want to try?
Fuse: YES...

Ep 5, 42:16
Book chat on gay meeting site:
Frame: Hello

then in a taxi:
Book: Hello
Frame: Hello
Frame: Top or bottom?
Book: Bottom!
Frame: Do you need to meet?

Is it the way to both for a rape?

Spoiler

For the "bleeding or pain", there is different possible reason: size diameter are not similar, no lub used, directly inside without preliminaries, contracted (means closed) "h o l e" that made introduction impossible, and so on, all causes that possibly made it turn into something more than difficult, even both consent and agree to do it. I guess this details aren't enough explicit into manga (except for those into porn).

Me too. Still unsure how it's gonna go...I like to think he's gay and that like baw74 said, he's a "late bloomer". But if (as I think that will the case) he's only ever attracted to Pete in the show, that will be hard for him to figure out anyway. Especially as he seems to have no interest for porn or anything else that could have awaken his sexuality earlier. And according to him, he never had sexual attraction to anyone before Pete, boy or girl. Honestly, I just hope we won't have to go with I'm-straight-but-it's-different-when-it's-you :sweatingbullets:

I agree with you.  It seems possible/likely to me that we may never get a satisfying answer to Ae's sexuality.  If he's only ever into Pete, maybe he won't take the time to analyze and figure out if any other girls or guys turn him on.  Pond said, "My friend is turning gay", implying that he thinks Ae is straight (I mean, not that that means anything, most people treat straight as the default, unfortunately).  At the very least, I hope he falls into the "I actually don't know what's up with my sexuality, but I like Pete" category, instead of the "Obviously, if it weren't Pete, it would be chicks" category.

I always watch Thai, Chinese, and Korean dramas raw. Without dialog I can 1) Focus on the acting and directing. 2) Listen to the language which is a good way to learn, 3) Not be handicapped waiting for subs.  Understand LBC is the first Thai drama to have subs in under 12 hours. Usually you are waiting for some kind soul ( who is usually in college) to sub a series ( if they like it ). Have to admit Lazy S is my fav cause she also throws shade in her comments and explains the nuances of various words.  TWM had subs pretty quickly too. So this is a new thing and says they ( production companies/TV stations are recognizing the growing international audience ( $$$).  So when I do get subs, I rewatch - kinda like a test to see if what I understood was said was accurate or not.  I also have a VPN that allows me to watch some dramas realtime - commercials and all ! That in itself is a real adventure.

Oh man, you've kind of depressed me.  I'm realizing that now that I'm "caught up", I'm going to have some hard choices to make, between watching as soon as possible or understanding completely.  You're right of course, I've been spoiled this year, first discovering the Asian BLs, and just watching the ones that have subs, as well as being spoiled by how fast they've done the Kiss Me Again (well, GMM AND Lazy Subber), LBC, and My Tee (Tess and GMM) subs.  (I did watch one movie for which I could only find Portuguese subs, and I don't technically speak Portuguese, but it's close to two of the languages I speak (Italian and especially close to Spanish), so it counts as watching with subs.  Just need to pause occasionally to reread the sentence to be sure I got it.)

I'm not sure what I will do going forward.  You're right, I would definitely pick up more language watching them raw.  Hmm.  I guess I hope the talking money will make it so this isn't as much of a decision going forward.

Haha, watching commercials from other cultures can for sure be fun!

You know, I don't think I've ever seen a BL where the " uke " ( gawd I hate that word - but for fun...) was in a position of "power".  They are all written very "soft". Racking my brain to remember a BL Chinese or Thai where there was a strong even controlling " uke" . :phew: There are a few strong characters in a couple of Manga's I've read though and it's prolly why they are my favs.

I also cringe at the "uke/seme" classification, though of course sexually speaking, position preferences are normal.  Just don't like it all wrapped up with personality as if it's a package deal.  (I feel like it's trying to turn the uke into a woman, while also implying that women are weak and passive.)

Are you talking about inside or outside the bedroom?  Because I have found a lot of the Thai BL relationships to be fairly equal in terms of their personalities, and sometimes in terms of sex.  I mean, there's give and take, not just one person in charge all the time.

In terms of power dynamic, kind of averaging out the power the partners hold in different situations, I find Phun/Noh, Korn/Knock, Pree/Rambo, Mork/Tee, Pick/Rome, Wai/Apo, and Pete/Kao all have pretty even power (personality-wise) in the relationship.  I wouldn't like any of the couples, otherwise.  I'm not in to one partner controlling the other all the time.  In fact, New seems to be the stronger personality in his onscreen relationships every time, though he's also the "bottom".  (Apo, Kao)

In terms of sex, the above relationships also seem pretty equal, for me.  I mean, Korn gets a little domineering after he gets heated up, haha, but Knock for sure throws him around a bit, too, during warm-up. Phun is the aggressor more often than Noh, but I think that's because he's the one who's more sure of his feelings.  They are actually somewhat versatile (canon) in bed.  Rambo and Rome(ok, this is me buckling a bit to stereotypes, there's no onscreen indication of position) are for sure "bottoms", sexually.  But that's because that's what they like in bed, not because they're weak.  Rambo and Pree have a normal relationship (sexually, their relationship in other areas is not normal, more like "dumpster fire"), in which they take turns being the one to get things started.  Rome is almost always the one starting things with Pick, because Pick is usually too scared to make a move.

This "equal power dynamic" is why I've been able to enjoy Thai BLs, but most of the Chinese/Japanese stuff hasn't been as good for me yet.  (Taiwan, though, has some good stuff.  Loved History: Crossing the Line).  I will continue to stick to more western stuff until there are more even power dynamics.

I agree it all comes down to personalities. Even though Kim is more masculine than me and i'm more feminine than him, personality wise we're pretty even in that area. We're both strong minded, but also stubborn at the same time.

I love Korn and Knock and can't wait until the next series. I also love Pick and you're right about him being scared to make a move, but he did get his man in the end so that was a happy ending.

Oh don't be depressed...I've watch series so long...that often I forget I don't speak the language...but obviously my brain understands ..so I'm nodding and laughing right along as I watch.

I think that's the issue I have...it's suppose to be a look or a personality and yes, it's a trope...sure there are tops/bottoms..but that's usually behind closed doors.  I see the couples in LBC with varied personalities...simply, two guys trying to make a relationship work - that's real and how they do that well, is the story line. I read a paper on Japanese manga's  a while back that suggested the reason the terms exist in such a descriptive way is, as you said feminizing one role is a way to understand m/m relationships. One has to be " women like". Perhaps though, even that is slowly changing and more writers, readers, and the world come to a greater understanding of what it means to be a member of the LGBTA community.

Actually there are some good ones...(pre-ban for China.). And Taiwan has picked up the slack aggressively from China...History3 is on the horizon for 2019.

Speaking of raw...watched LBC raw....LOL after I found it...I think fans were so hungry that the servers at gmm 25 crashed !  Thankfully, it is the internets...and I found a stream.  I will still give my due diligence to line later... but I needed to be fed...and, I'm good now.

Hopefully it will change for real because the all point of BL is there is no woman involve, it's love between two men.

I really don't need that someone tell me he's the "woman like", he's the "man like"!

I'm always so pissed when I read comments for new BL story and people ask who is the girl? None of them obviously. B)

Be bottomed doesn't make you a girl! :)

I just finished watching the episode 5, I understand almost nothing but one thing sure, one week it's too long to wait!

One thing I know, I had the volume up too loud...so when Champoo spoke...my wine glasses began to rattle...and at lunch....I think one cracked...she wins the award for having the highest pitched voice in any drama that I've seen...Yuri was a close second...lots of muting will be taking place...I can tell.

Amen to that! It is so true. It's why I strongly dislike the whole uke/seme thing. First, it seems like it carves each partner's "role" in stone when gay people can perfectly be versatile depending on their partner and/or in the sane relationship, and some BL fans can't even think about role reversal as if it was some alien concept.

Secondly it's applying a heteronormativity to gay people which litteraly puts one of the guys in woman's shoes and of course it's generally the smaller, the most shy, the one that is chased, the one that is perceived (often wrongly actually) as the weaker one. Which is weirdly enough sexist, although we're supposed to deal with same gender people.

Glad to know I'm not the only one watches them RAW then goes back and watches them subbed. XD I can't help myself. I can't wait until they're subbed tomorrow.

I feel like I have started to pick up random Thai phrases. LOL But I think I know Japanese the most out of dramas I watch. I blame this on my anime days.

I don't know how not to watch Raw ! I happen to feel that I'm limiting my learning and being a whiny Westerner by not watching raw. Asian movies, drama series, all genre's have a target audience - if I'm not a part of that audience and want to participate then it's up to me  learn the language. It's a global community now...so you have to become global in your thinking.  Mandarin and Korean and now Thai. My speaking is limited but my hearing is not bad...the brain is a fabulous thing !

Subs for LBC have been available at those line links in under 12 hours so for my neck of the woods I can access them tonight cause it'a only 4 PM now...so by 11PM they should be out..

I'll keep my dogs out of the living area also. They have delicate ears and i don't want to frighten them. :P

Just finished watching the unsubbed episode (sorry, I can't refer to it as 'raw'  )...

I enjoyed the character development, and seeing more TinCan. Okay, okay, I enjoyed seeing more Tin.

Without understanding what is being said, I still am left with the impression that Aey's frustration is due to Pete pushing him towards Chompoo - or some fashion of that. And that preview... seeing that anger from Aey - wow.

Yep. Ae's testosterone level went up a couple of notches. Next week is going to be interesting. :D

I've just had a quick viewing and going to watching it in more detail later. Not seen enough of Chompoo to give a full opinion of her yet, but i didn't like the way she grabbed Ae's hand when he stood up. She's only just met him and that's a little to forward for my liking.

I'll make more comments later when you guys have watched it again with English subs. :D

I also watched the raw version and come to some conclusions that I'm sure will be wrong anyways LOL

For the most part, I think I get why Ae gets upset with Pete--and if you notice from the preview of next episode, it has more to do with what Pete gets Ae than the chompoo thing. Seems like Pete wants to gift him something expensive and Ae takes offense to that because of something Tin said to him while the three of them were by the parking lot. If I am following correctly (never mind I don't understand a word being said) it seems that Tin hints at Ae only being Pete's friend due to his money--nothing new since we already knew his position on the matter--however, why would Pete buy Ae soccer shoes worth so much money knowing that Ae doesn't care about material things? Did Tin somehow put some doubt in Pete's head about Ae's feelings towards him?

And can I say I dislike that actress' voice so much????? Jesus Mary and Joseph, what whistle range is she on? :confounded:

Gosh I need the subs ASAP i'm going crazy with many theories....

If i remember right, Ae's birthday is coming up soon and since Ae is into football then it's not a bad present to buy him.
