SUNNY AGAIN TOMORROW

RECAP, EPISODE 38

Hwang puts the card signed “Sunny” into her purse seconds before Halmoni bursts into he bedroom.  Since Hwang is in Halmoni’ bedroom, she has some ‘splainin to do.

Hwang mumbles some bafflegab and leaves the room.  A detective Halmoni is not.

Hwang goes into her own bedroom and stares at the “Sunny” signature once again.  Her eyes assume a demonic cast.

Lee’s Father explains the Facts of Korean Life to Leo:  If he stays at the small firm, he will become a small fish who is eaten by big fish.  If he joins a Chaebol, he will become a big fish who eats little fish.  Any questions?  Leo’s response:  No habla Korean.  [Note:  They are drinking an imported beer in a bottle with a blue label and the words “extra cold” on the neck.  History is made:  The first time a beer other than OB is consumed in a K-Drama.]

Lee arrives home and speaks with his Mother.  She tells him that she met Hwang and she seems very nice.  Lee says “That’s very nice” and leaves the room.

Lee’s Sister berates him for not pressuring Leo into working for a big firm.  Lee is like, Am I my Brother In Law’s keeper?

In his bedroom, Park recalls Kang’s  question about his relationship with Hwang.  Then he recalls various incidents with Hwang.

Park Sr. tries to sleep but can’t get the image of Yoon with Hwang’s Father out of his mind.

Halmoni tells Yoon that she should consider acquiring some male companionship since she, Halmoni, will not live forever.  Halmoni volunteers her services as a matchmaker and Yoon quickly discourages her.

Morning.

Lee’s Father complains about sleeping on the floor.  Lee’s Mother is like, “T.S.”

Lee’s Father drags himself into his office.  We learn that his megacompany has made him a Retirement Offer He Can’t Refuse.

Hwang stands in her office and stares at the Sunny logo Kang drew for Lee.  Yep:  the identical same.

Lee arrives and Hwang is short with him.

Kang, Kim and Leo work on designs.

Hwang’s younger brother arrives at the office to speak with Park.  Park likes his drawings.

Re the book proposal, Hwang is told that the Shopping Network will be unable to handle Park’s book because its author is unknown.  Hwang calls Park and arranges to meet him for a drink.

Lee’s Father sits alone and drinks soju in a tent bar.

At a table behind Lee’s Father, Hwang and Park are drinking beer.  It is the same beer Leo and his Father In Law sere drinking.  Still can’t make out the label.

Hwang tells Park that his proposal was rejected.  What better place to receive bad news than in a bar?

Hwang berates Park for chasing his dream of working for himself when he could be a Salaryman.  The “dream small, live securely” meme seems to be sweeping Korean women in their 20s.

Lee’s Father gets up to leave and swerves into an empty table.  Park rescues him in the nick of time.  It turns out that Lee’s Father was Park’s boss in the job he just quit.

Park gives Hwang a Look:  I refute you thusly.

Park and Hwang walk in the night.  She tells him that she is a mean person.  He smiles.  She tells him that there is someone she would hate to meet and that she’s afraid she has already met her.  She tells him that her principal fear is that the person will recognize her.  Then she weeps and he holds her shoulders chastely.

Halmoni’s dog is being disobedient again.  She thinks that maybe she paid too much for a dumb dog.

Yoon persuades Halmoni and her Sister to model in her Mother-Daughter themed fashion show.

Leo and his wife enjoy a romantic moment in their bedroom until she asks him for the umpteenth time to change jobs.  When he says no, she tells him he’s sleeping on the floor tonight.  Also, she has a “headache” which will continue until he changes jobs.

Lee’s Father lurches into the house before his wife’s disbelieving eyes.  He passes out on their bed and there is nothing she can do about it.  She thinks he was out celebrating a promotion.

Morning.

Park Sr., Hwang’s Father and Kang’s Mother arrive at work.  Park Sr. is irritated as the other two banter.  When Hwang’s Father leaves, Kang’s Mother tells Park Sr. that she feels sorry for Hwang’s Father because he lives alone.  She tells Park Sr. he seems to be handling being single better than Hwang’s Father.

After Kang’s Mother retreats to her shop, Park Sr. thinks there’s something fishy about Hwang’s  Father’s alleged singlehood.

In his office, Park recalls his conversation with Hwang and is puzzled.  When Park calls to check on her welfare, Hwang asks him if she said anything weird.   Not unless you consider hugging a streetlight and asking for forgiveness to be weird, he replies.

Park flashes back to the night before.  He alleges he expended considerable effort persuading Hwang that the streetlight was unable to return her affection.  She asks if he is telling the truth and he laughs.  Was Hwang hugging a Gaslight?  We may never know.

Kang and Lee have come to the same shop for coffee.  He wonders if he is being stalked.  Then he surprises her by offering to buy her coffee.  As they are leaving the shop, they encounter the random guy who paid Kang to disrupt his blind date.  He tells her that he now has a girlfriend of his own choosing and is happy.   Lee, who is too far away to hear this conversation, is peeved.

When Kang rejoins Lee he asks her about her  “Boyfriend.”  Kang is like, Him?  No waaaaay. . . .  She explains that she was moonlighting as a part-time relationship blocker.

When Kang and Lee arrive at the Shopping network with coffee for themselves and Hwang, Hwang asks why they are arriving at work together.

When Lee leaves the two women standing together in the hallway, Hwang gives Kang a cold eyed appraisal.  Kang has to snap Hwang out of her trance.

As Hwang and Kang arrive in the studio to begin work on their commercial, another crew is winding up.  Hwang snaps at the crewmembers several times to get a move on.  Kang takes pity on the crewmembers and rushes to help them pack up.

No good deed goes un-punished so a man accidentally injures Kang with a cart.

Lee and Kang return to their office.  Lee applies first aid to a cut on Kang’s leg.

Hwang apologizes.  Kang leaves for home.  Then Lee leaves for home.

Hwang tidies up in the office and notices bloody tissues in the wastebasket.

The bloody tissues summmon an unwelcome memory.

It was great to see the budding friendship between the two cousins.  As we all guessed, it probably won't last for long.  I like the acting of these 4 young leads.  No weird facial expressions to distract when delivering their lines!

I'm still hoping Park Sr and Kang's Mum will get together.  I still don't like Yoon!

I gotta say Ji Eun is starting to be quite scary. Those villainous expressions...she's so full of hatred. Poor Ha Nee, she better brace herself for what's coming her way...

Also, although Ha Nee seems to be happy where she is, I think all the parts involved deserve to know the truth and then they can make a choice. If I were Na Nee, I would stay with the only mother I've known for 20 years and who has lovingly raised me as her own, but that's up to her. Besides, we still don't know the details about how Ha Nee's adoptive mother found her. I still think it was her husband who hit Soo Jeong with his car and didn't report it to the police because he was scared. Then his wife grow fond of the kid since she had just lost her child and decided to keep her and make her pass as their daughter. Nevertheless, it was wrong that they didn't let the police know.

@zhanna I also don't want Ha Nui to come back to her real family. I would love it if she recognize them as her real family but stay with her adoptive family.

Like you said Jieun is quite scary. She'll be real evil if she's going to do nasty things to Hanui even though Hanui is innocent and don't do anything to harm her. It's either she's going to turn for the worst or she's just going to keep silent about it.

And wow Jieun's appa is shamelessly trying to flirt with Hanui eomma. He's just making me hate him more.

JE is just fighting a foe that does not exist no one knows or really cares.

So all these useless evil looks means nothing because SHE DOES NOT KNOW OR CARE.  :scream:

You will be your own downfall drawing all the attention to it.

SUNNY AGAIN TOMORROW

Kang’s Sister tells her that Park wants to see her.  When she goes downstairs to speak with him, Park is sulking.  He pretends that that he knows Lee drove her home because he is psychic.  Then she realizes that she left her phone in Lee’s car.

Lee is still driving around when Kang calls him to ask about her phone.  He tells her that he will messenger her phone to her tomorrow morning.  After he rings off, Lee concludes that Kang must be dating Park.

Hwang’s Mother and Halmoni practice runway walking for the fashion show.  Halmoni throws her back out.

Hwang goes to her bedroom and stares resentfully into her bureau mirror.

Hwang’s Father sits in his bedroom combing his hair   He recalls that Kang’s Mother thinks he is a single man and is pleased with himself.  His wife walks in and wonders why he is acting weird.

While her husband sleeps, Hwang’s Mother checks his phone for evidence of dallying or dallying.  She discovers that he has changed his PIN number and concludes that he must be gambling.

Morning.

The Yoon-Hwang household eats breakfast, minus Hwang.  She left for work early.

Hwang is not at work but rather at a DNA lab, where she has taken some of the Kleenex Kang bloodied.  Hwang tells the lab assistant that she must receive the results today.

When Kang and Park arrive at work, Lee is waiting with Kang’s phone.  When Park enters his office and leaves them alone, Lee accuses Kang of crushing on Park rather than doing her work.  As he departs she is like, WTF?  Then she realizes that Lee is jealous and is not unhappy.

In their office, Kang’s phone sends her a reminder that today is Hwang’s birthday.  When Kang remarks on this, Park takes note.

Hwang’s Father brings Kang’s Mother a cup of coffee.  Then he escalates with a small cake.  Park Sr. intrudes on this scene like a bucket of cold water.  Park Sr. calls Hwang’s Father into his shop for a Talk.

When Hwang’s Father enters his shop Park Sr. is like How’s the dog, Dawg?  He realizes that his days as a “widower” are coming to an end.

Lee arrives at his office and receives a call that appears to be from Kang.  Hwang angrily leaves the room.

Hwang calls Kang and tries to set up a meeting after work, but Kang has a business engagement.

Kang’s Sister, who is about to head out to another tutoring session with Hwang’s Brother, tells her Mother that her tutee is a pain in the richardsimmons.  Hwangs Father enters the shop and speaks to the two women.  Kang’s Sister obviously regards him as a potential romantic match for her Mother.  Dawg is more pleased than he should be.

Kang’s Sister enters Hwang’s Brother’s bedroom and they bicker.  Then she gets fed up, calls him a mama’s boy, and leaves.

Yoon stops in to chat with Park Sr. in his shop.  At first he is pleased, but hen he flashes back to Hwang’s Father picking lint off of Yoon’s coat and bristles.  They discuss some ideas for the fashion show and when Yoon agrees to them, he reminds her that they still need the “CEO’s” approval.

Yoon keeps hitting the ignition button but her car won’t start.

Park Sr. emerges from his building as Yoon is attempting to hail a cab.  A minute later he pulls up on his motorcycle and hands Yoon a helmet.  He reminds her that she needs to hold him or she’ll fall off.

Park texts Hwang a birthday greeting.

As the Lee family eats dinner, Lee’s Mother pumps her Husband for news about his “promotion.”  He thinks that she knows he is about to be rendered redundant.

Hwang’s Father, who has just received his first paycheck, arrives home and distributes pocket money to everyone but his Wife.  Yoon arrives home and reminds everyone that it is Hwang’s birthday.

At the end of the workday, Hwang is alone in her office.  She calls the DNA lab and learns that Kang is probably a match.  Just then, Kang, Lee and her Boss burst into the room with a birthday cake.

Everyone is All Smiles but Hwang.

Hwang just wants everyone to Get Out Of Her Face.

@dramaninja It is really funny how Jieun is going evil all by herself. She's like playing a one-man show.  She sure is insecure. I mean come on! The other party is clueless. Hanui is her "friend" but once she learned that she's her missing cousin whom she hated as a child, she suddenly changed completely. I could understand if she just kept that knowledge all to herself and act indifferent. But no author-nim wanted to make her funny. :sweatingbullets: I know she hated Soojung when they were young and until now because how they were compared before but we're talking about the NOW and not the PAST here so I feel like her anger to Hanui is kind of uncalled for.

SUNNY AGAIN TOMORROW

RECAP, EPISODE 41

Kang and Hwang are having an amiable conversation over coffee in the conference room.  Then Hwang asks Kang about an accident she was in when she was young. When  Kang tells Hwang that a car hit her when she was six but she doesn’t remember anything about it, Hwang becomes guarded.

Hwang aka Kang is happy.  Kang observes that this is a random question but says that she is.  Hwang is like, if you want to remain happy, you’d better stay in your present lane.

Yoon calls Hwang and asks her to come to see her.

Hwang receives a get well text from Park.  She sends an answering text and Park smiles.  Leo the Love Guru teases him.

Park Sr. runs in the park and encounters Halmoni and her dog.  When the dog responds favorably to Park Sr., Halmoni is miffed.  Then he pokes her with a remark about the “widower” who lives with her and she indignantly assures him that he is maried and she has no biological responsibility for him.  The Dawg has had its day.

Before she departs, Halmoni tells Park Sr. that if Hwang’s Father knew he had called him a widower he would box his ears.  Park Sr. similes:  Just the facts, ma’am.

Halmoni is wearing Woodrow Wilson spectacles, appropriate for her upturned nose.  Perhaps there is a pin in her hat as well.  Halmoni carries her dog away, since it will not follow her willingly.

In his cubbyhold Hwan’s Father loafs and invites his leisure.  Uninvited is Park Sr., who enters just in time to interrupt a long yawn.

Park Sr. begins shadow boxing and talking randomly about his youth as a boxer.  As the shadow punches move closer to Hwang’s Father’s actually existing nose, he grows increasingly nervous.

Park Sr. asks, “hypothetically:”  What should I do about a married man I know who is posing as a widower?  Then less hypothetically:  Why is an elderly lady going around town calling you her son in law?  Hwang’s Father’s single life is brought to a screeching halt.

Kang’s Mother runs into Park Sr. in the hallway and she notices that he is suddenly his old jovial self again.   She accuses him of being involved in a secret romance.  He warns her to beware of wolves and enters his shop.

Park Sr. receives a call from Yoon.  They converse cheerfully, then ring off.  He calls her back and blurts out something about being friends.  They ring off awkwardly.

Hwang arrives in Yoon’s office.  Yoon tells her that she has decided to accept Hwang’s proposal that she collaborate with the Shopping Network.

On her way out of the House of Yoon, Hwang encounters Lee’s Sister and remarks that they will probably be seeing more of each other.

Kang’s Mother arrives home as Kang’s Sister is cooking silkworm pupae.  Yum!  Kang’s Mother recalls that her deceased daughter also liked the dish.

Kang’s Mother goes to her room and starts leafing through a box containing memorabilia of her deceased daughter.

Hwang’s Father enters Kang’s Mother’s shop but the usual spring in his step is gone.  He starts to help her peel onions and begins to his confession but gets onion juice in his eye and can’t get the words out.  She thinks he is about to “confess his heart.”

In her office, Yoon tells her Sister that she has decided to collaborate with the Shopping Network.  After having guilt tripped Yoon into making this decision, Hwang’s Mother is very pleased with herself.

At the end of the workday, Hwang invites Lee to have dinner with her but he has already agreed to stay at the office and look at the samples of Kang’s proposed clothing line which have just been delivered.  Kang arrives and Hwang regards her resentfully as she leaves.

As she enters the hallway, Hwang receives a call from Park.

There is trouble in the love-bird nest.  Lee’s Sister is screaming because Leo has told her for the umpteenth time that he isn’t quitting his job.  He learns that there is no way to say “start up” in Korean.

Lee’s Father drags himself through the door just in time to hear his daughter ragging on Leo for refusing to become a soulless salaryman.    He and his Wife enter their daughter’s bedroom and everyone is shocked when he takes Leo’s side.

Halmoni and Hwang’s Mother practice their Runway Walk, much to the amusement of Hwang’s Father and Brother.

Hwang’s household, minus Hwang, eats dinner.

Kang listens as Lee delivers a detailed evaluation of the samples.  It occurs to him that she is excited about her work while he is not.  He regrets chastising her in the past for lack of commitment to her work.

From out of nowhere, Lee tells Kang not to fall in love with him.  She’s like, You have nothing to worry about.  They banter.  He confides that as a baseball playing undergraduate, he was a sought after stud.

Lee and Kang eat dinner in a restaurant.

Park and Hwang sit in a café.  For some reason they are drinking iced coffee.  He gives her a book for her birthday.

Park tells Hwang that he would be happy to give her whatever she wishes.  She says that he can’t give her what she wishes.

Park notes the initials on Hwang’s Love Voodoo bracelet and asks if she is making any progress with Lee.  She asks, “Why do you ask?”  He confesses his heart.  She doesn’t know what to do with it.

In her office, Yoon recalls Park Sr.’s offer of friendship.

Yoon arrives at Park Sr.’s shop, where he is working overtime on items for her charity show.

Yoon informs Park Sr. that she has something to tell him about the CEO of the House of Yoon.

Park Sr. asks if the CEO is giving Yoon a rough time.

Yoon confesses that she is the CEO and Park Sr. is stunned.

Park and Hwang walk in the night.  He apologizes for making her uncomfortable with his confession of love.  She’s like, I’ll pretend you never said it.

Hwang tells Park that she meant what she said about being a very mean person.

Hwang tells Park that she never wants to see him again.

@dramaninja  - It is right that HN needs to confront the issue that her crush does not have one on her, but on JE.  This will cause HN to falter and she will flounder trying to digest the idea that he does not like her so and her business may suffer a bit because of it.  Also, since JE is trying to hit her below the belt  with her requesting her to move her business to another agency, It might cause a rift between HN and HG and he starts to really realize his feelings for her.

I truly dislike the fact that JE is so mean and evil with a sweet face and we all are aware that she gets that trait from her mother.  Is this Korean culture where the SIL lives with the MIL (or are they leeching off the sister since she lost her child (and maybe husband)?  I thought it was the other way around.  His mother showed up today.  Will see what kind of drama is brought in to the mix.

Sun Hee can be so annoying. She knows Ha Nee is innocent, so why keep bringing up that nonsense? Does she hate to be proven wrong that much or what? Gotta love the irony of that family constantly looking down on Ha Nee...will they still think the same when they find out she's Soo Jeong?  I can't wait to see their faces. I have a feeling Sun Hee is going to find out next and help Ji Eun to hide the truth from Jin Hee. I don't want to believe she'll be as evil as to do such a thing to her sister, but looking at Ji Eun and her overnight change I think she will be, even if it's just to "protect" her daughter.

I really, really hope Han Kyul doesn't let Ji Eun manipulate him, especially not now that he's falling for Ha Nee. With Ji Eun out there trying to sabotage and kick her out of the home shopping channel, I need them to be a team. I want her schemes to actually bring them closer.

Wow Ha Nee straight up told her bio mom that she hates her! It doesn't stop amazing me how forthright Ha Nee is, for better or worst  She said it's because of her mom, but there are other reasons. I just hope she keeps in mind all those other reasons when she finds out Jin Hee is her birth mom. Jin Hee has shown her worst side to her own daughter without even knowing it, and I don't want Ha Nee to forgive her that easily. Also, I like how she told Jin Hee that she wants to beat her. I can't wait to see that competition. I'll be right there rooting for Ha Nee :P

SUNNY AGAIN TOMORROW

RECAP, EPISODE 42

Yoon reveals that she is the CEO of the House of Yoon.   Park Sr. kicks her out of his shop.

Hwang’s Father searches his bedroom for his phone.

Hwang’s Mother sits in her office at the House of Yoon typing random numbers on her Husband’s phone.  Then her Husband calls and she makes the mistake of answering the phone.  Her hacking days are over before they have properly begun.

Hwang’s Mother returns the phone to her husband.  He tells her that Park Sr. somehow knows that they are married.  For some reason this disturbs her and she tries to think of how he might have found this out.

Hwang sits in her bedroom and reflects on the hash she has made of her romantic life.  She receives a text from Park asking whether she arrived home safely.  She ignores it.

Park sits in his patio and ponders the brushoff he received from Hwang.  Kang arrives home and he discovers that she is getting closer to Lee.  The bird in the hand is no longer the bird in the hand, but the bird in the bush has flown . . .

Park Sr. arrives home and Park follows him into the house.  Kang detects a hint of jealousy in Park.  She is still wearing the Love Mojo bracelet with Park’s initials, so she is not displeased.

Kang enters her bedroom and attempts to duplicate her Sister’s yoga pose.  Her body hurts.

Lee’s Sister drinks OB Beer in the kitchen with her Brother and complains about Leo.   She thinks Lee, Leo and her Father are united in a conspiracy against her.  She assesses that Lee has a “Frozen Heart.”  When she calls him rigid and defensive he gets rigid and defensive and leaves the room.  She suspects that a woman is somehow implicated in her Brother’s peevish reaction, since by now he should be used to being called rigid and defensive by her.

The day of the House of Yoon’s charity fashion show arrives.

Yoon asks where the man who brought the handbags is and is told they were delivered by express courier.

Yoon calls Park Sr., who is sulking in his shop.  He ignores the call and sulks some more.

Hwang’s Father stands outside Kang’s Mother’s shop and practices coming clean about his marital situation.

Park Sr. and Kang’s Mother emerge from their respective shops at the same time.  Park Sr. gives Hwang’s Father the fisheye and departs.

Hwang’s Father and Kang’s Mother end up talking about Park SR>.  She lets him in on a secret:  she and Park Sr. will be in-laws, since everyone anticipates that their children will marry each other.

Kim gives Kang an invitation to the Yoon fashion show and tells her to attend.  He tells her not to worry about her run-ins with Yoon since hundreds will be in attendance and also directs Leo to accompany her.  A few seconds later, in private, Park asks Kang if he can go with them.  Kang learns for the first time that Park Sr. has crafted leather goods for the show.

At the Shopping Network, Hwang has persuaded Lee and her boss to attend the fashion show with her.

Hwang interposes an objection to Kang’s proposed “Sunny” logo, claiming it looks “childish” and “cheap.”  Lee says he will take Hwang’s concern trolling up with Kang and Kim.  Hwang’s boss congratulates her on taking such an interest in her “new friend,” Kang.  Hwang swallows hard.

As Lee’s Father is dragging himself through the door at an early hour, Lee’s Mother is on her way out to the fashion show.  She thinks he is depressed because he didn’t get “the promotion.”

As he mopes in his bedroom Lee’s Father hears a scream.  His wife attempted to wear high heels but sprained her ankle while leaving the house.

Kang’s Mother is taking a break in her shop when Hwang’s Father enters.  She confirms that Park Sr. used to beat people up for a living.  As he absorbs this intelligence, she asks what his late wife was like.  Cat got Dawg’s tongue.  He begins to grin wolfishly but then remembers the pugilist in the shop across the hall.

Lee and Hwang arrive at the fashion show.  They run into Kang and Park.  Awkwardness ensues.  Park tries to take Hwang’s hand but Hwang snatches it back.  Park assumes that he is the cause of Hwang’s weirdness.

Hwang’s Mother meets Lee for the first time.  She cattily observes that he must “take after his father” since he is “handsome.”  He’s like, Thank you, I think . . .

Hwang’s Mother sees that Hwang is carrying a bouquet of flowers and starts to take them from her, thinking they are for her.  Hwang tells her they are for Yoon.

Hwang’s Mother bumps into Park.  When he apologizes and continues on his way she thinks he is a “real gentleman.”  And handsome, too.

Park searches for his Father and asks Yoon for his whereabouts.  He is shocked to learn that his Father didn’t come.  Later in the lobby Park spots his Father, who has decided to attend after all.

Lee’s Sister is preparing to walk the runway and feeling sorry for herself.  Leo arrives with flowers and all is forgiven.

Halmoni is dizzy from anxiety and hunger and bumps into Kang in the hallway.  Halmoni is struck by Kang’s face and they chat amiably.  Then Hwang’s Mother arrives and snaps at Kang, falsely recounting the details of Kang’s arrest.  Halmoni thinks her daughter must be full of guano since Kang seems so nice.  Her daughter leaves Halmoni away.

Hwang approaches Yoon with her bouquet of flowers.  But Yoon is already chatting with Kang, who has also brought her a bouquet of flowers.

Hwang looks on, more surprised and sad than angry.

Dont think he will since he  asked  HN directly in the preview about the issue and ask if there was anymore.

Interesting dynamic here.  As we saw in Hwang's flashback in ep. 40, not only Yoon and Halmoni  BUT HWANG'S OWN MOTHER favored Yoon's daughter over Hwang.  Doubtless she still thinks her daughter is no match for Kang.

Hwang's Mother thus has some of her own guilt issues when Kang's true identity becomes known.

Moreover, her sole leverage in the household is Yoon's affection for Hwang.  When Yoon's true daughter reenters the picture, that leverage disappears.  Moreover, if Yoon dies, she has to beg Kang to continue to live in the house.

When you add to all of this the hurt when she discovers that her Husband has been "acting single" (and with a woman she fears and despises), you have a classic K-Drama harridan.
