I guess he kept away from his friends after what his mum did to him after the baseball incident.

What did she do? [I forgot]

I have wondered about this too.  I saw many people here talking about it.  What was the big crime she committed on HG, that affected him so much?

I had pretty much fast forwarded through the first 30 odd episodes, and probably even missed some portions or episodes.  But I saw her telling the doctor how important it was for him to play baseball and become famous or something like that (and he had a drop of tear on his face, lying in the hospital bed)...  But what exactly did she do that was so bad?

SUNNY AGAIN TOMORROW

RECAP, EPISODE 105

Button, button, who’s got the button?

Kang’s Mother wants to be helpful and bring Hwang’s Mother the missing button.  Hwang’s Mother would rather she forget about it.

Hwang’s Mother calls her Daughter.

Hwang needs to take an early lunch.

Lee and Hwang arrive at the Park-Kang offices.  Park is happier to see Hwang than Kang is to see Lee.

In front of everyone, Kang and Lee argue about whether they have broken up.

Hwang and Kang visit the Loo.  Hwang holds Kang’s purse.  While Kang is otherwise occupied, Hwang steals her keys.

When Kang emerges, Hwang tells her that she must leave immediately.

Hwang returns home but enters Kang’s apartment rather than her own.

After a diligent search of Kang’s Mother’s bedroom, Hwang’s got the button.

Just as Hwang is cleverly substituting another button, Kang’s Sister arrives home.

Hwang tiptoes out of Kang’s apartment, avoiding a Su Casa Es Mi Casa moment.

Hwang’s Mother receives a phone call:  Mission accomplished.

Yoon, her Sister and Kang’s Mother sit down to lunch in a restaurant.  As a favor, the waitress agrees to warm a dose of the herbal medicine Yoon bought for Kang’s Mother.

Yoon asks Kang’s Mother about the problematic button.  Hwang’s Mother is relaxed.  Until Yoon asks her Sister whether she might have been the last person to see Kang’s Mother before her accident.

Hwang’s Mother rips another button off of her jacket and tells Kang’s Mother to take it home and see if it matches the one she has.

Yoon and Kang’s Mother wonder why Hwang’s Mother is acting weird.

The waitress brings a honking big dose of warm herbal medicine to the table for Kang’s Mother.  As she drinks it, Hwang’s Mother has a That’s That look on her face.

Hwang’s Mother watches as Yoon objects to Kang’s Mother’s desire to pay the check.  Then Hwang’s Mother receives a call from Fake Daughter, who is observing from a nearby table, ordering HER to pay the check.

When Hwang’s Mother insists on paying the check, Yoon is sure her Sister is ill.

Park Sr., Dawg and Lee’s Father argue over who has the biggest radish.

Hwang’s Mother doesn’t mind working overtime as Lee’s Mother and Sister leave work.  They wonder if she is ill.

Fake Daughter arrives with a cleaning crew and declares herself the House of Yoon’s newest subcontractor.

At their home, Kang’s Mother tells Yoon that she must have been mistaken about the button.

Kang returns home and is not delighted to find Lee waiting for her.  Her Mother leaves to buy some food for dinner, leaving Kang alone with Lee.

Kang’s Sister arrives with some OB Beer.

Hwang arrives home in her car.  She notices that a package of herbal medicine is still on the front seat from yesterday.

Park arrives home as Hwang, looking irritated, removes the package from the car and stomps into the house.

Hwang proceeds to a trash bin and dumps the herbal medicine.

Kang drives Lee home.  Lee is lost in beer-sleep.

As Kang is attempting to nudge Lee awake, his Mother emerges from her house and does not like what she sees.

Lee sobers sufficiently to give Kang a kiss.  His Mother is definitely not liking this.

Park Sr. brags to Yoon and Hwang about how he forced Lee’s Father to concede that he has the bigger radish.

When Hwang joins Park in bed, he is not in the mood.   We learn that he saw Hwang dump the package, which he thinks contained fertility medicine.

Morning.

At breakfast, Hwang’s Mother is not in a good mood.

Kang’s Mother is surprised when Kang’s Sister reproaches her for leaving the door to their apartment unlocked.

Hwang overhears Kang and her Sister discussing how their Mother seems to be very sleepy.

Yoon arrives at her store and compliments Lee’s Mother on how clean it is.  Lee’s Mother confesses that she had nothing to do with it.  Then fake Daughter emerges and humbly accepts the credit.

Is Yoon happy?  No.  Fake Daughter Gets Going.

Yoon calls her Sister into her office for a Talk.

Hwang’s Mother has no good explanation for leaving Fake Daughter alone in the House of Yoon all night.

Hwang’s Mother attempts tp persuade Yoon to hire Fake Daughter full time.  Somehow #metoo is involved.  Makes perfect sense.

Yoon relents, but it’s Hwang’s Mother’s richardsimmons if anything goes wrong.

Fake Daughter and Hwang’s Mother meet again in a café.  She tells Hwang’s Mother to forget about any plans she had to inherit the House of Yoon.  Fake Daughter isn’t bossy, she’s the Boss.

As Hwang’s Mother leaves the café, she is confronted by Fake Detective.

Fake Daughter notes that Hwang’s Mother’s eyes are rocking and rolling as she talks with Fake Detective – just as when Hwang’s Mother talks with her.

Fake Daughter deduces that whatever it is, she and Fake Detective must have something in common.

HG overheard his horrible mum's conversation with the doctor. He was so hurt by his matrialistic mum's tantrums over his inability to play baseball that he changed his personality. He became a workaholic who hardly socialises and seem cold until HN thaws his heart of course.:dissapointed_relieved:

To those who ask about the episode, I'm SORRY I cant remember!

Which is why I advise viewers NOT to skip scenes or episodes if you're going to watch dailies. In SAT I love the dialogues especially among the 3 stooges which act as comical relieves!:D

You have to be extra patient (of course most of the time feeling very frustrated) as you are IN IT FOR A LONG HAUL!

LOLOL!!!

After SAT, I'll LAY OFF from dailies!

When he was in the hospital she was throwing a tantrum about his career  ad making it all about her did not care that he was hurt.

They did not know he heard everything.

This is precisely why I asked the question, and said I had seen that scene.  In fact, I had gone back and checked that scene at least 2 or 3 times, seeing many of you say that she committed some big crime to him there.

I am sorry, I still find absolutely nothing that is seriously hurtful in what she is saying there.  Any mom who had spent years driving around a kid to baseball practices would react like that.  It wasn't like he had just been diagnosed with cancer that would kill him.  Neither was it like he had broken his foot and will be in a wheelchair for the rest of the life.  She was there with him at the hospital and would have known that he was not in any life danger when they brought him to the room, even before the doc came in.  The first thing the doctor said was also that "he will be fine for everyday life, but he can't play baseball".  Then all she would do was naturally to ask about baseball and wail about it.  Because any mom in her position would know how important baseball was for her son.  Yes, she said "I spent 10 years on this" which indicates she cared enough for the son to be that invested in what he was good at (it is not like she was a baseball fan and was beating her son to become Babe Ruth; or at least we have no indication of any of that).   To me, she was doing EXACTLY what a mother would do.

She is a mother who carried him in her womb for 9 months, gave birth to the guy, raised him for 20+ years and spent 10 years driving him around (or taking buses) for baseball. For all of us to be sitting here and saying that she didn't care for him but only for his baseball career, based on just what she was saying to the doctor, is just a bit too much.  If what she said in the hospital was misunderstood so much by HG for him to get a tear, somebody needs to check his brain, and it is extremely thankless of him to think that she didn't care for him enough.   In fact, his misunderstanding of his mom and his lack of knowledge of the natural love a mother has for a son (that may not often be shown) is why he does not know how to talk to her properly about HN and get her on his side.  It is not too difficult for any son with a mother. They just need to have a bit of tact and some sensitivity to how mothers are.  He doesn't have it, and on top of that he has a preposterous notion that she doesn't care for him.  I don't have much sympathy for that attitude.

For a mom, the son's health naturally comes first.  That goes without saying, and that is why she was not going to say "do you know how much I cared for him for 20 years?  I breastfed him, I carried him on my back, cooked food for him and I raised him for 20 years!  Get his foot to heal fast please".   That would be ridiculous.   No mother will think of how much she cared for him at that point.  But doing the baseball work for him was something that was a chore for her. But she was doing it only for his sake, and that is what she would talk about.  So, the only thing she was going to ask is "can he play baseball again?".   And once the doctor even says he will be fine except for baseball, a normal mother would think if the doctor understands how important it is to rehab his injury the right way for baseball reasons.  Then she would talk about all she did for his baseball.  That is all she was doing there and she committed no wrong in my opinion.

That scene proves nothing to me.  I had just assumed that there were so many similar instances where HG had seen her being materialistic and not thinking of what will make him happy.  And I would even agree that the hospital scene was enough as a final nail, if we were ever shown that he was unhappy in playing baseball, and that it was the mom who was pushing him.  Instead we had seen that he does like baseball and wanted to be good at it.  So, for him to think of this scene when his dad asked, "did something happen between you and Mom at the hospital", made no sense to me.  This scene had nothing in it for him to blame his mom. Nothing at all.

(By the way, I have seen how much my wife ran around for 10 years on my son's soccer and Lacrosse career - he was recruited for Lacrosse by colleges too -- and she had no interest at all in either sport.  She reacted almost identically when he got a finger injury and needed a screw put in it during his sophomore school year.  He was a superb goal keeper and the captain of his high school team, but a thumb injury was going to end it all.  But when he decided to focus on academics in college, she was actually only relieved that he wouldn't get injured again.  Nobody would have guessed that 3 years earlier when he got injured and she was worried of his football/lacrosse future.  That is how mothers are)

Sorry but dont agree at all, that was some of the most nasty things you can say to a person. She care more about the care then  him, he has just be greatly injure and his dreams was destroy she was not crying for him but his care which is very sad. Look how his dad reacted to  her words.Look how  much it hurts him to remember that moment look how she acts towards HN because she odes not have money, its all about money.

I can understand being disappointed thats fine that is not what this was.His reactions along made you understand  how hurtful those words where

HE is the one that put in all that work not her, HE is the one that got greatly injury and HE is the one who had to abandon is dream. She made it all about her like everything else he is not some project she was working on he is her son.

Also understand this is fresh after the accident in the hospital throwing a tantrum  next to his bed what kinda person does that?

She gain trying to make him into her project with the whole dating  and marriage thats why he went though such great lengths in the drama.

His mom is a terrible person and a terrible mother.

I am still missing something in what you and others are seeing here.  She was only complaining about "his dreams being destroyed" even if she said that it was her dream.  Why would she care about baseball, other than for the fact that it was her son's dream?  That had become her dream too, and she was sad that it was shattered.

Perhaps (or surely) she had by then developed selfish interests too.  It would make her famous as the mother, if he were to become famous in baseball.  Possible.  Nothing wrong in it, and it's natural with all parents when they see that a kid is good at something.  But there was nothing in what she said that showed that she was talking about only her selfish interests.  [Like I said, if she was trying to make her son be a pianist or doctor or something that the son had no interest in becoming, I could think differently. Even that's not the case here]

And the dad's words at the hospital is what pissed me off, though that is typically how many dads behave too - taking the mom for granted, and not appreciating what she has done, but rather focusing on what she said.  First of all, he runs in at least a whole hour or two after the injury, after they had taken him to the hospital, put a cast on the guy and moved him to the private room. It was only the Mom that we hate who was with him at the hospital through all that.  Of course, she would know his "life/health status" by that time and won't be worried of it to tell the dad that he was fine.  The guy who runs in a whole 1 or 2 hour later then has the cheek to yell at her for saying he can't play baseball??  How dare he?? ....  And he knew it too, and that is why he tried to correct HG's attitude by telling him, "for your mom, nothing matters but you and HanNa" at the drinking joint.

And we saw HG say that he knew that about the mom (that she only cared for his and HanNa's well-being), but made the snide remark that it is a burden on him, and that they were trying to live up to the mom's standards.  Well, she was setting standards in baseball that HE wanted to do (assuming that she was no baseball fan to start with)... Right?....  But ok, I will give him a pass because we weren't shown other instances where the mom might have done hurtful things by putting too much pressure on him.  I am only saying that the hospital scene was no proof of what he is saying.

But I guess we all look at things from different angles..  I am willing to agree to disagree with you :)

Okay, this is probably where our fundamental disagreement is.   Why shouldn't he appreciate the fact that a mom who had no baseball interest (as far as we know) had made his dram her dream too, and had taken it in so deep in her mind, as to collapse on the floor and cry about it?    Why have a negative view that he was her "project" and see it all wrong?

The right attitude in my opinion will be to think - "I cannot believe my mom had bought in on my dream so much, to slump down and cry.  But for her love to me, baseball would have meant nothing to her"

Let us suppose that she had simply said "HE had put in 10 years of work" instead of "I had put in 10 years of work", would the whole sequence suddenly become okay?  Just because she used "I" in two sentences there, he is keeping that scene in his mind for the next so many years as THE reason for such deep resentment towards his mom, forgetting everything she had done for him?  That is just not right, in my opinion.  But again, we can agree to disagree, as always :)

actually, I think that HG's mother is terrible in this scene. The first question to the doctor is not how HG is doing or whether he's okay even, it's whether his baseball career is over. No matter how much she valued her son's potential career, first she should have checked to see if how HG has come through treatment and will handle the recovery. HG's father's reaction when he came in is much more the expected initial reaction. You're assuming that the mother had already ascertained that HG is fine before the shown conversation with the doctor, but that's just an assumption that you're making.

Absolutely.  You focused on the key point.  That's why I said this was a baseball injury, and not some cancer diagnosis.  Unless he fell over the fence and cracked his vertebra by landing on his head, almost no hard injuries happen in baseball.   Some rare cases of collisions at the plate with the catcher can cause bad injuries but still not enough to leave anybody seriously impaired.   A pitcher getting hit on the head with a line drive is possible but very very rare, as they can duck.  If it was American football or even soccer with some hard fouls, it is different.  And he was fully there, with a cast on his leg and conscious.  I saw him in the bed, and immediately felt - "meh, he will be fine" :)

The scene was weird, with him having a bandage on his head, and perhaps everybody thought he had some head injury.  I didn't even look at his head bandage till now and only noticed the cast on this leg.  Not sure how a head and leg injury can happen in baseball to start with, other than in a freak situation of some sort.   I certainly went with the assumption that the mother fully knew that he was perfectly fine except for a knee injury that could be serious but is still a knee injury still! .... In any event, I am sure that when they moved him into the room, she would know that he was not in any danger, from the nurses.  That is all normal. All she needed to know from the doctor was the severity of the injury in terms of baseball.  That is how I took it.

If the drama wanted to make the point right, they should have said that he had fallen over the wall and had a spinal chord injury that was life-threatening.   Maybe I know about baseball enough to know that it can't be too bad, other than in a freak situation.  If I had any doubt that he had any sort of serious injury that could affect him, I would have thought exactly like all of you, and would have expected the mother to not know how he would be, and ask the doctor.  I think the drama expected everybody to be concerned about him by just showing him in grave-looking situation (and it worked on all of you), but I just took it as a baseball injury that is extremely rare to be too problematic other than for baseball.  Otherwise, I would have felt the mother's reaction to be totally out of place.

22 minutes ago, stroppyse said:

Since you seem to speak some Korean, you know that pronouns are rarely used in Korean speech. What's unusual about the mother's laments are that she specifically makes it about her by using the "I" pronoun repeatedly. Go back and watch it again, and you'll see what I mean.

This was precisely something I checked.  Yes, she clearly said it.  There is no doubt that she was talkiing about herself.  My point is this -- why is it so wrong.   It became all about herself on something that is normally not important for mothers - BASEBALL.   I took it as a positive.  A mother who made something that was not important to her, become so important because it was important for the son.   Again, I wouldn't think about it this way if it was something that a typical mother would have interest in seeing a son/daughter become (great student, doctor, lawyer, fashion designer, pianist).

If this was a father saying what she said, I would have reacted like all of you, because I could imagine the father trying to live his baseball dreams through the son.  But this was a mom, who normally doesn't have baseball dreams (women don't even play baseball, you know!).  Everything she was doing was the result of what she got into, thanks to her love for the son.  And the son completely missed that angle and took it as, "she is doing this for herself".

Anyway, glad to throw at all of you another angle in it that you may not have thought of.   But from where I was coming from, the scene only looked like that to me.  Interesting, huh?  :)

Thanks for sharing ep 54. I rewatched twice with subs and it clearly has become 1 of my favourite episodes.

Even HN could sense that HG's materialistic mum is ALL ABOUT PRESTIGE & STATUS from her conversation with him in the car after meeting her. And HG totally agreed with her! :D

This episode really convinced HG that he's really head over heels in love with her! The way he looked at her when she walked towards him in that green dress. The way HN defended him by denouncing the jerk baseball player. The way she put ice pack on his knee. :D

I simply LOVE the way she CHIDED him for not speaking up like the way he always did to her. He SMILED & LOOKED TIMIDLY at her with SO MUCH LOVE in his eyes!

Jin Ju Hyung's acting is SPOT ON in this episode both at his lashing out at his mum and looking at HN with "honey drop eyes" in the car and after HN treated his injured knee in the office!

Seo In Ah's acting as the spunky HN while defending HG is just as remarkable!

@jayakris

U are right in your own way but I wanna ask, is all mothers not like that ?

All mothers carry and nurse their children too. (Go to some developing  countries all over the world and see what mothers pass through so that their children will get the best in life. Live better life more than them)

Most stay at home mothers did that because of their children. So it means all these children should live their lives solely because of their mum as a payback for raising and helping them channel their life successfully. HG's mum was also raised by her mum too, probably a stay at home mum.

As soon as you decide to get pregnant and give birth, it's your 100% obligation, morally, constitutionally and financially to help stir the course of your child's life till age 18.(16 in some countries)

Why dailies and some weekday dramas always add this part to dramas is simple. To let mothers know that it's not their right at all to dictate and control the life of their children to their own advantage. His mum feel its her right to reap from her labour.

Let's compare her with HN adopted mum.

That lady took in an abandoned girl and gave her all she has so HN owe her life to her, right? Why has she not told HN that her life is in her hand?

Did she count all she did for that little girl as investments?

She was simply raising her as her child with love.  If she has the way and money, she will send her to the best school in the world. Now, it's remaining for HN to pay her back by being successful(even if the success didn't come immediately, she is always there cheering) and take care of her( some parents are very happy their children are successful, they are just ok with that) especially in old age.

That is the prayer of all true mums out there but look at this wicked and selfish mum that HG has.

Instead of taking her frustration out on her husband, she was swallowing it and decided to pinch her tent around her children hoping for a long time result. Her behaviour changed immediately she knew that HG won't provide the material succour she needed. What she should have settled with her husband during the early yrs of her marriage, she just started now.

She is very frustrated things didn't go her way but she got it wrong from the beginning. (This reminds me of what I said about HN setting the coast clear from the beginning cos it might come to haunt her later on after marriage)

Now her husband has accepted and corrected his mistakes regarding how to treat his wife, is it not time the wife change her assertion?

It's not only her, when parents are pushing you non stop to be this or that, look underneath, they want want to live their live through u. That's not love. It's pure wickedness and selfish greed and that is what this wicked woman is depicting.

Watch her dance to a different tune when she discovers HN is the sole heir of JH biz empire.

I want to see the two mothers put her in her rightful place.

That reminds me also of JH. I can also say that SH and her family owe her their lives as all of them are who they are today because of her?

Love especially maternal don't count the sacrifices made for their children as investments. It's done out of love. If your child is doing well and happy. Be contented with that.

Let the world and nature judge and punish the child if he or she fails to perform the parental duties required of such child.

I think this week witnessed some developments. Here are some.

  1. DG starts to suspect JE
  2. Hanna starts to suspect SH
  3. SH is blackmailed by Yuri and SJ's fake dad
  4. Mr. Lee starts to change his mind about HN and HG's relationship
  5. The grannie likes HN more and more
  6. The secret of SJ is starting to be revealed to more people (Eunae, Yuri)

I am sorry, but in what scene Hanna started to suspect SH? I haven't watch full episodes of last Thursday and yesterday's episodes, so I don't know about it.

There are people I wasn't interested in the beginning but wowed me as the drama progressed.

HG dad and grannie. In the beginning I detested their characters but I'm surprised they are not rigid. Underneath halmonie sassy mouth is a very soft and kind heart. Somegrannies can be unnecessarily stubborn for no reason. If u give her a good reason to swing your way,she will gladly do so. Patience is required when dealing with her.

HG dad has less regard for his wife. He was a typical example of a masochist and practiced the patriarchal family system. It affected the wife and made her to shift all her attention to the children and as she didn't fulfil her life's ambitions, wanted to achieve that by living through the children. That's why he is sometimes seen as a weakling cos now he places himself in his wife's shoe whenever a situation  arises. His character was solidly written.

The character l liked but then later disliked is DG. He is opposite of what love stands for.

HG is totally in love like him but his senses are intact. He was never of any use to JE except that he contributed knowingly and unknowingly to the devil she is now.

True love admonishes with left hand and hugs with the right of which DG failed to do.

I hope his character learns his lesson. Will love to hear the actor describes his character,  character flaws and strength after the drama.

My best characters are HG, DG dad and HN adoptive mum. Such loving and steadfast characters. Their goodness swallows any bad trait in them. HN and JH are indeed so lucky to be surrounded with such loving personalities.

The ratings are going down since EA woke up with amnesia in episode 102. Seems like Korean viewers are also tired of being trolled and want the reveal to finally happen. Or maybe it is the lack of OTP cuteness that is causing it.

Also the Korean wiki now claims that the drama was extended not for one but for 6 episodes, so it will now have 126 episodes.

내일도 맑음 방영 분량이 120부작에서 6회 연장되어 126부작으로 변경 및 확정되었다.

I'm tired too. Writer is being very unrealistic these days. How can that fall cause amnesia?

Why are they always toying with amnesia as if it's simple cold? Must she forget for the drama to progress? It's very boring

I have seen people with major head injury and no amnesia. I had a head accident that put me off for few hrs but no amnesia. I lost interest as soon as I saw that. Makes no sense.

Hanna is behaving as if she is carrying trophy pregnancy. It's not fun at all. The fake SJ and the rest. The ratings should be skyrocketing at this point.

U can see I have already started summarising the drama and what i have learnt so far. It's fun in here else I would have stopped commenting.  Decided to watch only the clips of the last episode.
