[Drama 2018] Secret Mother 시크릿마더

Recommended Posts

 GREAT EPISODES! AWESOME LADIES!

A few thoughts.

I can`t wait to watch again with subtitles. What defensive, our ladies took the bull by the horns!!! I did not understand any words but I think  we`ll have major revelations.

Yoon Jin prepared the divorce papers! YAY! She did not give her husband any chance to explain. What is to explain anyway? She confronted her mother in law too.

Eun Young came to the police on her own and dares Jae Yeol. She was wearing a very short skirt. Does she want to provoke a stroke there? :w00t:

Ji Ae and Hwa Sook discover the truth about Lee Byun Hak`s double life.

Jung wan saved Eun Young but how the lost Kang again? I am sorry about Kang Hyun Chul`s daughter but I am glad he told the truth to Yoon Jin. I am so curious what he said? Kang died. It was suicide or murder?

Eun young discovers that her sister and Jae Yeol met a long time ago and they were lovers. In 2005 they seems to be happy together.

The trio mom drinking... :P and bonding.

Yoon Jin took Kang`s phone and she listened to the recording of the conversations between Kang and Jae Yeol. Maybe when he told him to go after Eun Young.  She wanted to give to the police the evidence but she couldn`t in the end. It is a hard time for her to cope with the knowledge that her husband and her life is not what she thought she is. Poor Min Jun. He loves his dad.

Yoon Jin returns to the hospital. She comes close to Park Sun Ja. But was at the phone? They want to confuse her?

They tried to make Hyun joo for the hit and run. Jung Wan opposes this but he is one of the few people there who wants the truth. And has brain!

The car and Hyun joo`s things appears. How convenient! Eun Young is there watching her things and Jae Yeol looks from afar. You don`t have a heart or a conscience, Jae yeol!. Once you loved that woman too. You should blame yourself first. He put everything/ all the blame on Hyun Joo to save himself and his mother.

Eun Young wants to go to the airport. Next scene... Jae Yeol comes home with flowers. Flowers?! What a loser! Min Jun is giving him the news. His teacher is back! :w00t::wub::D:wub: What a moment! Priceless. Yoon Jin is presenting his son`s new private tutor. Eun Young  is presenting herself. "Hello! I`m Kim Eun Young!" Genius! Jae Yeol`s face!!!! :w00t:  I am glad that Yoon Jin come after Eun young at the airport and team up with her. Good plan. They are going to torture Jae Yeol to the maximum. He thought that everything is over? No, sir! You and your awful mother will be busted.

Lisa and Min Jun will be back! YAY!

I clapped for real when I saw the final scene. Woman power! GO! Go! Go! You two are wonderful. I can`t wait to see more but I can`t believe it that I won`t see the next episodes. Damn. I am out of country. Doesn`t matter... I am hoping there were no football interruptions.

Yes, I watched live like always! :) It was exciting to watch even without subtilles.

I wish Yoon Jin, Eun Young and Jung wan will have a moment like the trio moms.  Drinking beers or wine after succeding to bring the responsable for the tragedy to justice! Quietly enjoying a moment to be together. :D It will be hard to beat the evil.  I hope the writer will give us moments like this.

To see Jae yeol`s face you should watch the first video I posted...

A gif but with sound is better. He is boiling inside! :w00t:

Spoiler

Too bad the You Tube video doesn`t show Jae Yeol`s frustration more.

No, he saved her. Park Sun Ja`s man (the one from the security room) grabbed her but that was misleading. After she came to her senses asked him who he is and he knew her name and talked so calm making her believe that he was sent by Yoon jin (I believed). She believed him and got into the car herself. Then he blocked the doors and when a van came and two people wanted to push her inside, our brave detective came to the rescue.

Park Sun Ja`s man received the paiment for his failed mission. A few slaps from his boss. :w00t:

After skimming both comments and raw videos, I have only one request for now, and I would do slam its website or even more as leading a demonstration if SBS reschedules the show next week.

@Melody_06: I would have made a gif for you with the moment between Yoon Jin and our favorite detective at the police station but I don`t have an You Tube video with that scene.

I like how Jung Wan realised that Yoon Jin had a hard moment and he did not insisted to know.  I  bet he would have wanted to know what happened with her.

Hyun Joo spoke on the phone with Jae yeol before she entered to see Yoon Jin. She threatened him to tell his wife their affair?

When and in what circumstances Jae Yeol became involved again with his former lover? That was a bad move, man!

I also loved the scene where Yoon Jin came to see Park Sun Ja. I will enjoy for sure seeing Yoon Jin in Sun Ja`s face at the hospital. :D

Well, honestly I've got a weak heart. However, this would be the most pleasant heart attack if it ever might happened to me. Lol. I'm not joking over my health tho. I didn't cross over this scene while skimming. Well, I've read somewhere (the site is quite reliable as well) the show is supposed to be 20-ep drama. Have you heard about it?

I don't understand Korean, but I guess so. I'm curious what circumstantial excuse for this confrontation between her and Yoon Jin. Btw, it's quite cheesy here. I don't think a walk-in patient would get that much convenience and availability to request her desired doctor/psychiatrist.

So reminiscing of the K2. I don't think there are any senses of mother-in-law and daughter now lol.

It is a drama. We won`t like to wait for her to get the appointment but at least we saw that she waited and she wrote a form. :D It is a drama little miracle and we accept it as it is.  Just like Eun Young was cured after a serius cranium trauma or like four or six police officers can`t open a shut door.

Something is making me wonder. Is Hyun Joo alive? She is locked somewhere, a mental institution perhaps? What was that phone call that Yoon Jin received? I want to know what Kang Hyun Chul said to Yoon jin to make the connections. But how she knew the number? Is Director Park or Doctor Shin behind the phonecall to confuse her?

Another thing. Maybe it is nothing but I suspected Han Jung`s wan`s younger colleague that he let Kang escaped. . When Wan was interogated  (internal affairs?) his colleague looked way to guilty. I hope it is nothing but a false impression

I watched with subtitles.

I had a feeling from the beginning that the key question is not who killed Hyun joo but who killed Min Ji. I suspected from the beginning Park Sun ja that she sent people to make Hyun Joo dissapear but her niece was killed instead. And I believed that Jae Yeol was kept in the dark and gave him mitigating circumstances in this case. I believed him when he first said that he never knew that Hyun joo was the patient from that night. Thinking about it, it was a little far-fetched situation that the father of the child involved in the hit and run accident, being a cop too knew so little about what happen than but it was a drama after all. There was a high posibility that he knew but wanted to keep everything low key (because of his mother`s involvement). But we discovered Jae yeol bit by bit and it is not a good picture of him.

Now, we have so many elements but still not have the whole picture.

Jae Yeol or his mother... the only suspects are still on the list and it doesn`t matter who is the original culprit, they both did a bad thing when they tried to cover everything. Maybe It was understandable as a human reaction the need to protect what they had left but it was a cowardly descision. A bad decision who became the worst. As a cop and as a man, Jae Yeol should have taken the responsabilites for what he did wrong. Now when everything is resurfacing, what he will do? He is already in hell. He will bring more people with him?

He lies through his teeth. The nerve he has to be able to speak such nonesense! :w00t::angry:

At that line I could not stop laughing. Really? :w00t:

The world is crumbling around his lies but he trying desperately to convince Yoon Jin that she is innocent. What he is trying to hide?

It was obvious from the beginning that they don`t want just an affair to hide.

tumblr_pammcvjNvR1sdd1ivo8_r1_540.png

Kang Hyun chul said to Yoon jin that he was there after the accident happened. He saw the car with the license number 5937 leaving the scene toward Cheonpyong. We know that was Hyun joo`s car. Kang saw a shoe (Hyun Joo`s shoe) and jae Yeol`s ID . That means both were at the scene. We saw that Hyun joo threatened him that night that she is going to tell everything to Yoon Jin about their affair, they met that night. Maybe Jae Yeol saw Hyun joo with Min ji and he lost his mind for a minute. I always thought they want to cover the guilt of killing Min Ji, who was their family more than Hyun joo`s but what if it was not Park Sun ja but actually his own father who caused her death? It`s terrible.

Hyun Joo was a witness of the hit and run. If the person who called Yoon Jin asking for help is Hyun joo, maybe Jae Yeol could not kill her to make her silent. It is possible that she is locked up in a mental institution. We heard that Jae Yeol gave the order to Kang to take Eun Young`s things not to kill her. He is desperate enough to not care about the consequences but he is not a bloody murderer.Maybe he still has some conscience left.

Either way, both Jae Yeol and his mother will be in hot waters in the next episodes. Ha Jung wan is suspended for two months but that won`t stop him, Yoon Jin is back to the hospital, Eun young is back as Min jun`s tutor. I can`t wait to see how things will go from here. Things won`t go well for Jae Yeol and his mother no matter what but I am curious how much more damage they will do.

Another frustrated face of Jae yeol

tumblr_pammcvjNvR1sdd1ivo9_r1_540.png

I found it hilarious to see these two at he police station but now knowing that they did not fight each other made it even more funny.

tumblr_patfv80yZ61sdd1ivo2_540.png

I`ve been thinking if Jae yeol murdered Kang or not. There is lot of heartbreak left for Yoon Jin if she will find out that her husband caused the hit and run. I wish it is not true but it is a posibility. And Min jun will be affected too. :(

I finished too, being an owl  through the night. I absolutely agree with you. I just wonder if he has lost his mind/his sanity, he acts as an idiot. Apparently, there has been so many gloomy and miserable events happening recently, plus Yoon Jin had showed him how disgusted she felt towards him and of course, not that the like-before trust. What on earth made him think Yoon Jin was going to believe his empty words ever again??? He's really ruined the dignity of a man and a superintendent cop.

Combining those two I would say, it is not the dead-end for him so he must have had his humane side. Nonetheless. when it comes to the situation where there is no outlet for him, he definitely will take someone's live as the last resort to make the crime concealed. I don't think Kang was killed by him (even though we have seen Yoon Jin noticed him coming late in the middle of the night in conjunction with his outfit, those detail grew suspicious of him). Kang's homicide must have been done by his subordinate. (He still has a toad-eater-like cop who is willing to obey his orders)

So poor to Yoon Jin and Min Joon because of Jae Yeol. My heart can no longer hold onto this tragedy. I still have some questions which could be showed up later (running errands in the morning of weekend is not nice at all)

Btw, off the topic, I may be sorry for my words :lol: but I would be probably him If I were to see a fine (s**y) lady like this. I don't know if it is a personal issue, but I find it out Eun Young still looks godd*** beautiful even just in 3-piece or casual suits like this :sweatingbullets:

Done with the episodes and my pieces, and holy cr*p! Lots of thoughts, will compile them later. I need to rewatch and sort my thoughts as well. I can't believe we're 8 episodes before the end and we still don't know who has done what and who is dead aside from Min Ji and Hyeon Cheol.

Is Hyeon Joo alive!? Or was that a recording? And if the latter, by whom? There's really no reason for someone to do that, Yoon Jin didn't even pay much attention to it, and she wouldn't remember her voice anyway. I'm going with live. Maybe they tried to transfer Hyeon Joo and she escaped. I wonder if Jae Yeol is in on it, or if him looking for ways to track missing persons means that he's not.

He was trying to find her at least two days (it got dark twice, so two or longer) before she made the call. Maybe he found her and that's why she was being moved. Of course she could have also escaped earlier and he could be trying to get her back. It just feels odd that she wouldn't reach a phone for two days. She sounded like she was running. Maybe it just took her two days to reach an inhabited area? Jae Yeol looks so eager to wrap the cases up, so it feels like he is in on it.

Also, the whole porn set up with Eun Yeong stroking his name plate made me laugh. I've been tweeting up a storm about these episodes, because feels! Also, @Melody_06, my brain screamed when Jae Yeol grabbed Yoon Jin. That was so soft, I'd have shipped it hard in less tragic context, but I mostly just wanted to break his arms here. I want his manhood pulverized and his arms chopped before he's thrown into a fiery pit. I guess we'll see to what degree he deserves that soon.

The writer did a good job. She really had two solid suspects from entire series but we can say 100% who is the ultimate culprit. More suspicions comes on Jae Yeol`s way. And still we are not sure. I also don`t believe that he killed Kang and he could not be behind Hyun Joo`s disappearance too but what a pathetic excuse of a man he is. Yoon Jin has good reasons to be disgusted by him. I like how she told him to do his job, and find what happened with their daughter, like he promised. Her line... :w00t:

After all the lies and secrets, after all the disappointments he caused, he still hopes that she will give him another chance. He bring her flowers! He came early from work to be there for her! Facepalm! Their marriage is doomed but he is still hoping for another chance.

She is a beautiful woman. :)I was shocked at how daring she was when she entered the police office (with all those men out there) with a leather skirt like that, with a confident, take no prisoners attitude. I am a woman but I kept looking at her legs.  :sweatingbullets: It was so funny how she insisted to remain in prison and Jae Yeol wanted her out. In the middle, poor Detective Park, who seemed so helpless.

Jae Yeol`s face again. I can`t help it. I just love to see him like this.

Exactly my thoughts. I also believed that she is alive. But what a coincidence. Just when her car and things were discovered in the river she can make a phone call. It is at the right time to discover new informations and to have more questions :). I was thinking why she called Yoon Jin. Maybe she was in another hospital and escaped for a moment she asked for dr. Yoon Jin from Seisim hospital. She felt to be in danger.

Ahaha, @larus, that's the exact shot I posted of him after Eun Yeong left. The FML was so strong. Part of me hates how sad this situation is for our heroines, and I'm disappointed we're in typical villain territory for now, but I also sadistically enjoy the torture they bring him. Kim Tae Woo makes it so enjoyable, bless. Him getting constantly Yoona-ed is worth it.

I got goosebumps watching Yoon Jin in the face-to-face confrontation with her aweful mother-in-law:lol:. Really love how the story is developing and the way Yoon Jin and Eun Young step by step collaborate in their attempt to uncover the truth beneath Min Ji's hit and run case. In previous episodes I felt angry whenever Han Jae Yeol showed up but now I find  his dumb face so hilarious LOL. Don't know whether he is so naive or stupid that he thought a bunch of flowers could mend his broken relationship with his wife

Hmm how convenient it is for Jae Yol to instruct his men to close everything off as suicide! And how clever to grab the opportunity to suspend HJW . Even if  Jae Yol does not have any direct blame for Min Jin's death, he's definitely behind HY's disappearance. Forget fighting him with the law and or getting the cops to do it - his influence within the institution is too extensive. By bringing EY back into their home, Yoon Jin  has gone on the offensive and launched a  psychological warfare on JY. He may seem to be successful at covering his tracks thus far but he is going to falter sooner or later  - seeing EY's face everyday is going to make him go mental. Brilliant.

His expression was priceless here!

6o3ZfDW.pngx4Dg7r5.png

I really love these past episodes, because YJ has finally taken back control of her own life. She's come to terms with Min Ji's death and she's clear about what she wants. The cowardice displayed by this mama's boy has caused so much pain and grief for three women. Looking forward to them exposing him and his mother.

About that recording/phone call that Yoon-Jin receives on her first day back to work, I keep thinking that the mother-in-law is involved, because it happened right after she told YJ's nemesis (the lady doctor who's been making fake diagnostics about YJ not being fit to return to work, can't remember her name) to put "something" in motion. We don't know what she was talking about, but the timing is suspicious. Is it me, or does it seem as if Jae-Yol's mom controls everything, including her son? She might the one with the biggest secret of all?

We don't know what she was talking about, but the timing is suspicious. Is it me, or does it seem as if Jae-Yol's mom controls everything, including her son? She might the one with the biggest secret of all?

I entertained the thought for a moment, but it doesn't really make sense so late in the game, and since Se Yeon already said she has everything she needs. She will get the CCTV, she'll have people testify. They made no new plans, and the board of directors meeting is almost up. They're talking about putting that in motion. What they talked about in episodes 21-22, which is simply getting the case against her ready to give to the higher ups.

The phone call was too short and vague to mean anything to Yoon Jin, and even if it did, they have no way of proving her as unstable due to it. The woman who kidnapped Min Ji is still missing, so it's not far-fetched that she would be alive and have called the mother for some reason. It could have also been a prank call. She didn't even identify herself, and if Seon Ja was really in a hurry to add more incidents against Yoon Jin, she'd stage much more direct and bold things. Their fake footage already tanked, and the police knows about it (including those who analyzed the video and Jeong Wan). They can no longer afford to pull this stuff.

It's still very possible and probable that she's the mastermind, yes. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether Jae Yeol knows it and is working with her on everything, or whether he's actually trying to find evidence of Hyeon Joo and what really happened that night. We still have words and actions on his part that don't fit the story we see so far quite perfectly, and it's odd that he keeps playing so dumb when he clearly sees that Yoon Jin knows and will not stop. It's almost like he's just stalling the inevitable for some reason.

@triplemI love how Yoon Jin has come along as a character. She went from hiding to facing everything head on, but manages to keep her cool enough and consider the persons involved enough to not make hasty moves. She really feels like the eonni in the duo now, and it's so cool to see. It's also very sad, but there's no turning back from the truth anyway, so all they can do is rip the band-aid quickly.

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Secret Mother" Episodes 21-22

by Vasia Orion on 2018/06/23 at 17:04 PST

photo983145.jpg

"Secret Mother" is finally back after a long absence, and the drama carries on taking its heroines' lives from bad to worse, but hopefully towards resolution. The contents of the warehouse are revealed, lies are crawling left and right, and there are now very few doubts left as to who has done what. Unfortunately for Yoon-jin, Eun-yeong, and everyone touched by the evil that is lurking, it looks like we have plenty of suffering left to go.

The warehouse was the last straw in my hope that Jae-yeol (Kim Tae-woo) would come clean, and it was Yoon-jin's (Song Yoon-ah) as well. Despite the grief and guilt our deadbeat dearest has shown, he was done terrible things. There is no turning back for this marriage, and jail time is inevitable, it is now a question of how deep the rabbit hole of Jae-yeol's crimes goes. Does it include murder and/or attempted murder?

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Secret Mother" Episodes 23-24

by Vasia Orion on 2018/06/24 at 05:14 PST

photo983163.jpg

I have rarely been so delightfully frustrated while watching a drama, as "Secret Mother" is hitting a lot of sweet spots with its relentlessly obscure truth. The things I thought I knew are looking much worse, but it only takes one ominous phone call to throw all those theories right back into the humble pile of speculation. Yoon-jin and Eun-yeong have a complicated truth to untangle, and it now includes yet another victim.

Kang Hyun-chul's (Han Chul-woo) truth cost him his life, and if Jae-yeol (Kim Tae-woo) is not the one who did it, then the drama is really taking us for a ride. As Eun-yeong (Kim So-yeon) says, an affair is not something the mother and son duo would go to such lengths for, but the alternative I thought I knew is being challenged. Is Hyeon-joo (Ji An) alive? Was that phone call her, and was it live or a recording? Why is there a withered spot at the villa?

The possibility that Hyeon-joo did not kill Min-ji (Choi Na-rin), and could have been kidnapped herself has always been there, but I considered it unlikely.
