You know it’s going to be a good week in dramaland if Jang Hyuk and Lee Jun-ki are making comebacks one right after the other. One’s full of food and laughs and the other is all fists and thrills, so pick your poison.

 

Greasy Melo

Time slot: Monday & Tuesday

Genre: Romantic comedy
Episode count: 40 (half-hour episodes, 20 hours total)

Reasons to watch: Star writer Seo Sook-hyang of Jealousy Incarnate, Miss Korea, and Pasta is back with another slice-of-life romantic comedy with a cast of quirky characters and oddball situations. This one is all about the unlikely people who end up gathering at a little Chinese restaurant, which makes it feel like Strongest Deliveryman, but with more farce. Junho is a renowned chef who suffers a fall from grace and ends up at the tiny eatery that former gangster Jang Hyuk has set up after a stint in prison, and they both get mixed up with heiress Jung Ryeo-won who has an obsession with jajangmyun. It’s not high-concept, but this writer tends to focus on witty dialogue, colorful characters, and humor in mundane situations, so I’m expecting a heaping dose of hilarity with a side of food porn. Make sure to put that Chinese delivery on speed dial…

Reasons to watch: Lee Jun-ki is pairing up again with PD Kim Jin-min of Time of Dog and Wolf (also The Liar and His Lover, Marriage Contract, Pride and Prejudice, and La Dolce Vita) for an action-packed legal drama about mobsters and corruption in the legal system. He stars as a former gangster who becomes a lawyer, and works as a fixer who bends every law there is for his clients. In doing justice his own way for the sake of revenge, he ignites a war against powerful mob boss Choi Min-soo. Seo Ye-ji co-stars as a lawyer on Lee Jun-ki’s side, and the two of them set up their own practice full of gangsters and misfits, which kind of reminds me of Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho. This show definitely looks darker—more fisticuffs, less courtroom pontificating—but I think there’s a touch of humor in the central character that should make it easy to root for him. Well, not that we really needed a reason other than Lee Jun-ki.

Desperately prepared for it... Everyone was full of praise for "Lawless Lawyer" Lee Joon Gi

Everyone including Kim Jin Min pd, Seo Yea Ji, Lee Hye Young and Choi Min Soo was full of praise for Actor Lee Joon Gi. 

Kim pd said: "I met up with Lee Joon Gi again on set after 11 years, but his passion and attitude haven't changed. Difference is that he's more flexible and listens to what other people say, and adapts and makes things work for himself now. He became a huge star but he takes care of people around him on set. I think I know the reason why he's still a huge star."

Lee Hye Young said: "I was really surprised by working with Lee Joon Gi. He's such a classy gentleman. His acting skill is really incredible."

Choi Min Soo said :"Lee Joon Gi fiercely prepared for this drama. Oh no, he desperately prepared for this. It seemed like he hardly slept or ate. Actually, actors shouldn't just study the script. It is important to meet up with co-stars in advance and find out who they are, what kind of person they are, and get to know what their personalities are. Lee Joon Gi actually did that. He secretly came on set even though it wasn't his schedule." Choi Min Soo was full of praise for Lee Joon Gi. "He was Joon Gi before but he became a wild dog after one or two months."

It's a fair guess to say that Lee Joon Gi would feel huge burden and require lots of energy to work with Choi Min Soo. He was nervous at first but both of them are a good duo now as they dance together and say goodbye to each other once each shooting ends.

Kinda early to talk about this but after this drama ends what would you all like to see LJG do next? I really want to see him in a rom com or romance melodrama. I love him in historical and action stuff and yes he's really popular in those genres but I want something different! I've seen him in Virgin Snow and I have still not watch My Girl.

 

Just thought of this! Now I have always wanted to see LJG and Ji Chang Wook work together in whether a show or movie where it focuses on bromance. Like the bond between them and the hardships they went through. Adding Yoo Seung Ho as well! Something about bromance and focuses on the three of them! ... Do you know how amazing that would be?! The three of them together...

I want to him in a big national drama whether that is historical or w/e , i want him to be on big tv drama's . I think his talent deserves alot more.

On the other hand, Lee Hye-young gives Lee Joon-gi a disapproving look as he causes a stir during a sacred trial she’s presiding over. The seemingly emotionless look on Lee Hye-young’s face fuels the tension.

 

These pictures of Lee Joon-gi and Lee Hye-young glaring fiercely at each other convey the stifling tension between the two, and also make viewers curious about their relationship and how the events will unfold.

 

The stills represent the first trial in the drama, attended by ‘lawless / fighting lawyer’ Bong Sang-pil—who has both legal and fighting skills—and overseen by Cha Moon-sook, local judge of Giseong District Court—who hides greed beneath the saintly face.

 

From the beginning the two actors had to film an important scene, where they face off against each other. On set, during rehearsals, the actors had heated discussions with director Kim Jin-min about how they should capture details and emotional undercurrents.

 

During the production presentation on May 8, on her working together with Lee Joon-gi, Lee Hye-young heaped praise on him: “I was very surprised by this actor Lee Joon-gi. He is such a gentleman and a great actor. He’s like the best of men out there who has sophisticated manners and a great personality.”

 

On filming the first scene with Lee Hye-young, Lee Joon-gi said: (Before we worked together) My first impression of Lee Hye-young seonbae-nim was that she is a strong yet sensitive person. At first, I thought it’d be difficult for me to get close to her because she plays the root of all evil that I’d be unable to handle.”

 

Lee Joon-gi thanked Lee Hye-young for being considerate: “However, when I actually started working with her, I found out Lee Hye-young has such girly sensibilities. (Laughs) When we work together, she is very considerate and helps me stay balanced in terms of acting. As I spend more time talking with her about acting, I think ‘She is such a warmhearted person.’

 

The producers behind ‘Lawless Lawyer’ raised our expectations by saying: “Please check out the premiere tomorrow to find out how Bong Sang-pil takes on Cha Moon-sook, an almighty Giseong District Court judge, and why Bong Sang-pil declares war on her.”

"LAWLESS LAWYER” premieres on May 12, at 9 p.m., as the follow-up to “Live.”

Seriously i had so much to backread. i can´t keep with this thread. it's moving so fast for my busy days... but i hope i will be here tomorrow, i'm trying my best to be on time and ready for the premiere. I'm both so nervous and happy. lately i can´t control myself!

Everything looks so good and promising. I know show won't dissapoint, still i can´t help feeling anxious. i need tomorrow now.
