This drama should be so interesting. Even teaser poster is so cool not talking about tag lines.

And this thin line between pen and scalpel.

Here is small teaser vid from JTBC. I guess in post they confirm that Dr. Ye Jin Woo and Dir.Goo Seung Hyo will be rivals?

First glimpse on doctor Ye Jin Woo. His eyes...

Just like Lee Dong Wook said. He needs to look exhausted because of his work.  But he's not only

@stroppyse could you be so kind to look at the captions on teaser when you'll have time? What do they mean?

Nice translation of original Naver's article about teaser poster with writer's comments. Like writer's approach. Guess we'll have another realistic drama.

[Orion's Daily Ramblings] "Life" Portrays A Battle of Convictions in Teaser Poster

What are hospitals in Korean drama without their power struggles? We can't escape them, but upcoming drama "Life" embraces them. The teaser poster reveals some simple, but crucial information about the characters portrayed by Lee Dong-wook and Cho Seung-woo, while the writer comments on her intentions.

The poster is very simple, and its tagline impactful. "When 1.5 liters of blood is shed, life disappears. How much time do we have left?" Aside from the obvious hint of confrontation, the news attached to it consider its symbolism. The scalpel seems to be a symbol for Ye Jin-woo (Lee Dong-wook), who values his work as a doctor, while the pen is a symbol for Goo Seung-hyo (Cho Seung-woo), who cold-heartedly thinks that winning by the numbers is what matters most.

Writer Lee Soo-yeon-I expressed her thoughts on hospitals and their function, saying "A hospital is a place we come into contact with in our daily lives, but which we do not really understand without related expertise. So it is a place where honest beliefs and values are crucial".

On her motivation, she adds "Whether you acknowledge reality or compromise, whether you value prosperity or your personal convictions, a hospital where those dramatic beliefs clash is the setting of this drama. I wrote this drama in hopes of exploring, even if a little, the problems that exist, the problems that could exist, and the kind of people that can be found in the medical world".

This sounds like a project fueled by curiosity for the subject matter, rather than one aiming to make a point about it, but "Life" will hopefully be an interesting exploration with minimum amount of Evil Rich Guys™ fake-laughing while stabbing each other in the back. The creators are certainly good for it. "Life" premieres in July, on jTBC.

@stroppyse thank you for the explanation.

I'm looking forward to this drama, think it's a direct competition with tvN's Mr Sunshine's airing?  Hospital dynamics are very unique so I am hoping that the scriptwriter will bring out the challenges that drive the medical field.  A lot of what is going on are hidden from the public.  In everything decision that was done for the patient/on behalf of the patient, there is a bunch of people behind the scene that touch him/her in some way, small or big.  Hospital is a business and the administrators are tasked with the hard job of keeping it running.  Their job is to provide the care while making sure the hundreds of employees, from physicians to nurses to the janitors get their next paycheck on time.  A lot of time, the admins are portrayed as bad guys but I know a few who take this thankless job, a job no one wants, to keep an ER running despite hemorrhaging money.  Affordable healthcare is a big problem but we as the public demand it as a right instead of a privilege.  I'm expecting writer Lee to give JSW a little more of a character study than the usual hospital admin figure.

I see lots of  updates. Thanks a lot! So looking forward to this drama. I'm anticipating this. This early on. I'll be watching this  because Acting/storywise/genre I prefer this  but I will be watching Mr. Sunshine because the cinematography is splendid and fav brilliant child actress is part of the drama. Viewers are the winners  cos  we get to see a lot of good dramas second half of the year. Usually dramas shown around that time are the ones vying for awards. I think.

Brain and White Tower are the of the best kdramas when it comes to medical genres. Hoping this one will be added to that.

OT: is LDW the actor in Secret Hotel I've been planning to watch it.
