Dropping off photos of the most favorite Kdrama people for me atm. :)

Honorable or idealistic? Takes an outsider to see and fix things.  I hope they can meet President Goo in the middle.

@bedifferent Secret Forest , Prison Playbook and now this - whatever character Lee Kyu Hung takes on , I find myself drawn to him. I am glad he crossed over from stage to drama. He’s a very versatile & capable actor.

While watching eps 3 , some things struck me :

1. YJW is paralysed emotionally . He seems stuck . He uses his brother’s condition as an excuse to not make changes . When No Eul suggested the three of them to go open a clinic by the beach, he uses Seon Woo as an excuse . SW is perfectly capable of looking after himself and does not bear any grudges against his bro.  Why is JW living like he needs to make up to SW?

2 . for me I think there’s some sort of romantic affection between YJW & No Eul. But it’s also obvious that SW is enamoured by her , which i believe is why YJW holds back. No Eul on the other hand treats SW like a brother, someone she needs to look out for.

3. So SW went to med school . Why’s he in insurance investigation?

4. Dr Joo - clearly a man of principle with a heart of gold . I liked that he wanted to fight the system the right way with no tricks

5. What’s with the transplant coordinator ( played by Tae in Ho and the nurse ) . He seems obsessed with her . Also he’s the spy !!!!

6. The relationship btwn President Goo & his Secretary are hilarious. I cracked up at how she fangirls over Dr Ye . Greek god !!!

YAY @triplem, you are catching up.

1) I'm compelled to be protective of Jin-Woo (or maybe LDW) here cuz I think he's hard character to play.  JW unable to let go of the guilt from his childhood that he takes on the responsibility of a caretakers for everyone in his life.  From his brother to patients, he's mentally and physically spent.  I don't think he has any more inclination or energy to go beyond the drill of day to day.  He's too busy to be involved and looked at issues beyond his own until the death of his mentor.  I have to lay part of this on Sun-Woo who clearly clammed up when they are alone and is a totally different person with others.  I wish they find a way to talk about this barrier between them.  Perhaps Jin-woo's career as a physician is a painful reminder of Sun-woo's missed opportunity so he has to mentally make peace with this loss.  On the other hand, did Jin-Woo become a doctor because of his brother's accident?  Choosing to be an ER doctor is a way for him to address his guilt of not able to save his family as a child?  I hope the drama will mend their relationship in later episodes.

2) Yes, there's some flirting and attraction going between JW and No-Eul.  Sounds like the three were childhood friends.  I feel like No-Eul knows JW likes her, I don't see her reciprocated that feelings the same way yet.  She is protective of Sun-Woo like his brother. Agree with his social awkwardness when it comes to the reporter.

3) A lot of MDs, nurses, pharmacists work as consultants for insurance companies to process claims and reimbursements.  Insurance companies need specialists to understand the case and verify that the appropriate care was given to patients.  Most are to justify the cost but many also are needed to judge whether the care did not violate patient's rights.  Examples are to protect you from having your teeth crowned for no reasons, having a hip replacement when you don't need it yet, get treated for a disease that you were misdiagnosed.  Bottomline is to make sure the hospitals/physicians don't abuse the system for financial gain.  Theses jobs appeal to people who want to have flexible schedule as you can work from home and don't have to be clinicians on site.  Makes sense that Sun-woo works at HIRC given his disability.  I think his specialty is orthopedic surgery though he is on the ethics review committee.  He was investigating the reimbursement fund that supposedly went into LBH's private bank account instead of the hospital's. Sun-Woo's career translated to how JW relies on him as his voice of conscience.

4) Dr. Joo seems too good to be true at this point. I love his character though sad for his personal sacrifices over his family.  Where did he go after they dropped him off?

5) I think the next scandal is going to be organ transplant, specifically the wait list.

6)  I like how the drama showed another way to approach medication error.  ER Chief Lee So-Jung didn't sweep resident Park's antibiotics (mis)charting error under the rug like the Oncology Chief.  She reprimanded and sternly pointed out to him the harmful error (double dosing the patient).  The mistake was made unintentionally since his mind was preoccupied, thus why we see the need to supervise residents in training closely.  He was lucky that someone caught the mistake.  Eating his criticisms earlier about how the oncology resident could have err after so much training.

New stills (E7).  JW confronting the deputy director Dr. Kim as the race for the director position heats up.  Suspicious that Dr. Kim has something to do with Seon-Woo's wheelchair status.... Jin-Woo mentioned about a medical error during his long hospitalization after the accident.

I ship No-Eul with Mr Gu. She is intrigued by him, as he is with her. It’s cute that she always makes him startled. I like that No Eul has her opinions/takes on things, instead of just agreeing with her seniors. Perhaps, she is the one who could challenge Gu’s conscience, in a good way. Heck, bottom line they are freaking adorable together lol. JW on the other hand has better chemistry with the reporter. JW & No-Eul are more like best friends who have each other backs.

@azuwaza163 He likes dog, she likes puppy.  Ship sailed.  Mr Goo was all flustered when she rang the intercom, he cannot resist her puppy charm.

Edit:  I forgot to say he ate her sandwich.  Really quick too, was hungry, cuz he wiped the corner of his mouth before entering the office. lol

Look at how cute WJA is BTS.  She’s an animal lover and has worked on promoting dog adoptions.  She has the best smile!

Is this the same dog Mr Goo played with?

@hamaji  Looks like President Goo has to meet with NHIRC to get clearance for his new drug subsidiary contract with the hospital.  Sun-woo may catch on to the illegal internal scheme.

Thanks for always clarifying my confusion @bedifferent . I am slowly catching up. Am watching episode 4 ,I want to know why Goo was slightly hesitant in buying the land even though he worked very hard to get the deal through. What’s that whole Seosan Prisoner bit about ?

Not sure if I helped that much lol.  Am happy you are watching with us.

Here you go, about the Seosan land.  Another social engineering similar to the one in Life on Mars.

Hwajeong CEO wanted to get the Seosan property owned by the Minister of Environment’s father for the new hospital. The elderman refused many offers to sell due to its history and his continuing hope of rebuilding a community there.  He said he was a thug so I am guessing he was part of the ROK Juvenile Pioneering Group who was forced by the Park regime to relocate to Seosan and worked on rejuvenating the land.  Vagrants, ex-inmates, ex gangster were rounded up, forced to work without pay in land reclamation projects.  He even mentioned with shame about mass marriages with female workers. They were promised to receive the land that they worked on as payments but the government refused to acknowledge ownership to many.  The older man’s father was one of a few lucky ones who got the promised parcel.

The father continues to live on the barren land knowing that his son is ashamed of their family’s past.  When Goo showed up wanting to broker the deal, he mentioned the man’s stubbornness can cause trouble for his son, a govt official, if he refused to have the hospital for the needy built here.  Goo didn’t quite do his homework (think he was careless and arrogant) about the property’s history.  He realized the personal attachment and its significance after hearing the story yet has to continue with the lie.  The father sold the land thinking his son will lose his post if he doesn’t.  Goo feels a twinge of regrets, his conscience almost made him stop the man from signing.  He finally looked up Seosan on the way home.  I’m not sure what the plan is now that the expansion is on hold.

@piekeboeboe  hi & welcome to the thread!.  would love to see what you found.

@kmsl what, What, WHAT.... you have not watched Secret Forest? :P JSW is a different character there.  My first time seeing JSW was in the movie Marathon.  Cried my eyes out.

God among us.

@hamaji Can’t wait till Goo asks his assistant for dating tip lol

He’s not that much different from JW when it comes to women.  They never did date due to their careers, ehh?

Romcom star is born

Both of Dr Oh’s parents are university professors/ physicians I believe.  The hospital is her home.

As if we needed more reasons to love JSW/President Goo!!! Now he has got a little friend home from the canine shelter! Haven't we all been like him at some point in our life!!

Spoiler

On a serious note, the writer is setting him up as a gentle giant! Be prepared for something unpleasant. This is all too pretty and sweet!

i know this drama is more than just romance... but... this episode 7 they showned a lot of small scenes of No Eun looking at President Goo Seung Hyo and President Goo looking at her interacting with Jin Woo. I love that not only they observed each other at dog cannel numerous time, President Goo look at her when he drives past, and she observed him at the BBQ restaurant. They both like dog enough to came back to the dog cannel.  They certainly observing each other alot....there is no sub yet...so we don't know if this is personal interest or this is purely business. But knowing Cho Seung Woo, his projects never really tend to have good romance.

Cho Seung Woo always take serious roles, but everytime he cracks that smile and show his teeth. those silly grind...I melt to a pile of goo

I agree with you! I love those small moments :) i'm totally immersed in the story but i like that they show regular moments once in a while, like the president asking if she is dating Jin Woo haha

Episode 7 ended on quite a twist!

Spoiler

I didn't think Jin Woo was the one that made the anonymous complaint! I was totally surprised! This episode in particular felt like FOS, it's like an undercurrent kind of feeling. You can't help getting swept away. I'm starting to sense that there is something bigger going on with Jin Woo and Sun Woo~
