There is a scene of Li Chen Lan on a something like a raft floating in the sky. I think that would be a scene after his "death"?! To show that he is in a limbo or something so he can still come back to living world. The drama is very tight in keeping their ending. There is nothing in the MVs that is able to tell us whether Li Chen Lan will come back to the living world.

Yea, I saw the boat scene and knew it was limbo as well. That’s why I was ok when I thought the hug scene on the rock or the kissing scene in the cherry blossom were their reunion! But now... one is for the proposal... not sure about the other one, but MQ wears the necklace now, and not her? There might still be hope!

@Alila Nguyen I believe the scene of hugging on the rock will happen within this week (episode 41 is my prediction). Because in the stills, we can see a bottle gourd. The bottle is the same as the one Zhao Yao brings in the end of episode 40. Their clothes also match out. In the novel, there is indeed a scene where Zhao Yao let Li Chen Lan wears the necklace for a moment for she want to hear his thought. But, after that she takes it again.

After watching ep 39, I thought that Lin Zi Yu turned from loyal subordinate to antagonist because she wanted to get Mo Qing’s attention.

 

She had been serving him for at least five years, but Mo Qing never noticed her as a woman and just treated her as any other subordinate. The internal revolt in Wan Lu Men was her way of showing Mo Qing that she is strong enough to protect him and stand by his side. However, she did not count on Lu Zhao Yao showing up and messing up her plans. During that reunion kiss between Zhao Yao and Mo Qing, Lin Zi Yu shed a tear for her hopeless love, so in that moment perhaps love turned into hate.

 

Lin Zi Yu perhaps hated Lu Zhao Yao for the death of her brother who died in Zhao Yao’s service. The youth Zhao Yao met in Qi Zhi Di, Lin Zi Yu (it’s spelled differently in Chinese) does not remember but he was once one of Zhao Yao’s subordinates. He was one of the pill testers rescued from Xie Sha Men and was recruited  as an An Luo Guard. In the novel, people in the Ghost Market eventually forget who they were and once they have forgotten everything they are ready to be reincarnated.

 

By joining forces with Chi Tianming, Lin Zi Yu wanted an ally who could help her kill Lu Zhao Yao so that Mo Qing will pay attention to her even if he hates her to the core....

I believe Sima Rong already know it when he saw the necklace around Zhao Yao neck . Perhaps, it was why he specifically brought it up back then. Based on how close these two martial brothers are, it is very plausible that Sima Rong knew that necklace belong to Li Chen Lan.

 

@DontEatMyKimchi I have been curious for some time. Are you watching this drama directly from tv channel? Because you always get the episodes around 2 hours earlier than most of us here.

As expected. MQ's 'proposal' failed. "I... I.... I..." HAHAHAHAHAHA.  It was ZY that said "LETS GET MARRY", as expected she has more 'experience'. On the other hand GHG can propose much better that MQ  LOL. MQ IS TOO ADORABLE!

 

BLOOD HELL! THEY WEAKEN MQ SO MUCH. the MQ in the novel would NEVER GET locked up by JW!!! Btw looks like the kowtow scene will happen in ep 42 or beginning of 43.

As a fan of the original novel, I refuse to watch the next 2 ep.

Omg how could they weaken MQ to this extent, I don't really want to see that either.... I suppose they want to make him feel ZY is threaten which will further lead to his demonic side awakening (it seems so in the end of the preview for ep 44). I might just skip to this part for the next two ep.

 

Oo is the kowtow scene going to happen in ep 43? i thought it would be after she exploded.

I know, but the fact that the sign that drama weaken Li Chen Lan could already be seen from episodes ago. Even when I read the novel, I get the feel that Li Chen Lan is way too powerful. The novel always says he is injured, aura weakened after using nine heaven array, but in the same time we can never see this weakening has any effect on him defeating enemies. Since the novel is quite light-hearted, not to mention told from Zhao Yao POV, perhaps this is not a big problem. But the drama want to go different route. They choose to build up the male lead character, too. This cannot be done without letting us see Li Chen Lan in his weakness. Understandable since as far as I know, people always complain about overpowered character with no flaw at all. The Li Chen Lan in the novel is exactly that: an overpowered character.

 

Here in the drama, I get the feel they try to humanize Li Chen Lan character. Even though I am not happy with the way the drama weaken him, I understand it needs to be done in order to create more drama. Logically speaking, it is very plausible that Li Chen Lan no longer hold the same power as he did in the early episode. Gu Han Guang has repeatedly told us that his body condition is bad and he is far weaker now. If this is him before Liu He sword fiasco, for sure he can hold his own against Jiang Wu ++. But right now, I think it is logical if he loses. His strength has been depleted and he never let himself recover (always doing this and that).

 

Still, I am not looking forward to the kneeling scene. It is far too humiliating for Li Chen Lan ...... I don't know why the drama feel the need to go that far.

I mean, does it kill them to have the leads all powerful and strong?

 

A little weakness I get it,but to the extent to humiliate oneself to prove his love or to beg for help... it's a sure way to make me fast forward those scenes.

 

I need diabetic scenes. Not bitter scenes.

As I have said, they need more drama. All powerful and strong lead is bad material for making drama moments .......

 

I predict:

1. Zhao Yao explode for the 4th time.

2. Somehow Li Chen Lan get out from prison in time to "welcome" Zhao Yao at her tomb

3. The kneeling scene ......

4. Li Chen Lan and Jiang Wu saves Zhao Yao together.

5. Someone sneak out to take Liu He sword and attacking Zhao Yao (most probably Lin Zhi Yu)

6. Li Chen Lan blocks the attack.

7. The weakened Li Chen Lan get captured by immortals sect (Luo Ming Xuan??)

8. Recovered Zhao Yao teams up with Jiang Wu to save Li Chen Lan

9. Perhaps the bed scene that we saw in the ending song????

11. Li Chen Lan demonic arc

 

I think ... perhaps the drama want to show Li Chen Lan deep love? So deep that he will do practically "anything" to ensure Zhao Yao well-being, including humiliating himself. Li Chen Lan face in the kneeling scene screams desperation (I have to give kudo to Xu Kai for nailing that). While it is sweet in a way, we are far too attached to Li Chen Lan character already. We cannot bear see him doing something like that.

I just wish they didnt weaken MQ to the extent that JW could literally just throw him around and he couldn't fight back at all. I don't mind him being weaken to the point where it turns into a difficult and deadly fight for victory, but seeing him thrown around helplessly just makes me 

 

On the other hand, you are right that the kneeling scene is definitely to stress MQ's deep love, and nothing to do with MQ's injuries or weakness. From the preview, it seems that they absolutely need QQX's power for the ritual to save ZY to work. Even if MQ is at the height of his powers without any injuries at all, he most likely still wouldnt be able to save ZY on his own. Which is why even if he is at his most powerful, he will still need JW's help as JW now has QQX's power. So yes, this is just about how much he loves ZY and probably nothing to do with his current injuries or weakness (which is why i feel the scene is not too bad as i originally thought, lol).

Ep 41-42 are mostly Mo Qing proposal (and all the gushy awkwardness that it is) and wedding prep with a splash of drama, which I am HERE FOR. Nice to to see the that sincere man in love and in awe of the fabulous Zhao Yao. I, too, would take the candy over a ring any day.

i actually don’t mind the weakening of MQ, like @rainnie98 said regardless of his power, he will need to beg JW because in order to save ZY they need a monk’s power (which is now lie inside JW, thief lol).

 

I’m actually ok with MQ being so weak, it’s not like he’s weaker, but it’s JW is now a lot stronger. We never really know how strong QQX is, and possibly will never know as he isn’t gonna go around killing people. I have to give it to QQX though, brilliant move on his part. “You want my power? Sure, but you can’t kill anyone” 

 

Many has always been complained about the character is absolutely OP, then they complain if the character is so weak lol. I don’t see people complain that about YQ and XLN lol. They started out as pretty strong, then got injured, and most of the time, they run/use their brain to evade their enemies, instead of fighting xD

 

i have to say those explosions are pretty good at timing! 1st - to add dramatic effect after a goodbye kiss. 2nd - add humour. 3rd - evade forced kiss! Couldn’t be better timing no.3, I bet ZY is like “lucky I’m explosive” (the medicine or her personality that explode  or both works together )

Honestly, I don’t agree on LCL kowtowing to JW, but at the same time it shows he’s human (he’s not human, but you know what I mean) and vulnerable. He has mentioned before that ZY is his weakness and his source for strength. As humiliating as it may be for our beloved hero, if it was to save the life of a loved one I bet not only him, but anyone else would be willing to do the same. ZY IS his entire world, if those kowtow can save her then so be it. It just that it’s heartbreaking to watch those scenes as a viewer. Anyways, he can always kill JW afterwards or ZY can kill JW for him 

 

 

I’m kind of glad they’re putting ZY’s explosions to some good use haha

I agree, it seems like all the recent development is kinda leading up to the awakening of Li Chen Lan's demonic side. All these fights and his desperation to protect ZY is catalyzing this. From the song MV, it looks like ZY is crying as she fights him At this stage i don't even care what they change from the novel, just please give me that happy ending, lol
