Did I misunderstood? I got the impression she thought the guy who killed her grandfather is dead. That she already killed her. She said so in episode 2 or 3. She does not know he is in the casket. I got the impression it's a secret the immortal clan is keeping.

 

I honestly think the logic is okay for now -- it wouldn't make sense for ZY to just let it go. She is an eye for an eye sort of person -- so to her killing him seems fair. In her pov, he told him he would save her, and instead he went and stole the sword and killed her. She thought he manipulated her by feigning weakness, lie low, while she did all the work to start the clan and gave her a chance to take the sword and her clan. She assumed the worst -- which is that he was lying to her the whole time and everyone was right about the son of the demon king being crafty. 

 

The fact MQ doesn't really talk much doesn't help. He keeps his thoughts to himself and never explain anything. :/ If he just go and come out and call her by her name, maybe she would get it better.

MQ did not steal the sword,even before MQ appear to give a helping hand to het,she has already been injured by the power of the sword trying to obtain it. to save her ,MQ was almost killed by the two clan who was still searching for ZY to killed,it was the magic and power of the sword that drawn MQ to take the sword ,she knows MQ has no strength to obtain that type of sword ,she has live with him ,knows his limited  power and strength ,he has never done anything before to betray her, to me,she would have pause to think how come the power of the sword  destroyed her and MQ  which most people csn beat up was  able to obtain that sword,then again her thinking was right about MQ been crafty,he could have by now captured everybody in the village to submit to him,he wouldn't be wasting time quiet in one Conner not make use of his power.I like ZY in beginning,no nonsense lady especially the way she fought those self centered too righteous clan to save MQ was very interesting.then again,they  did not show us how the man who killed her grandfather end up dead,only world of mouth.just hope and pray this is not second of bloody romance.

If I remember correctly, he didn’t give her the necklace until after she found out how she came to obtain it

After defeating Luo Ming Xuan the 2nd time, she tells Li Chen Lan to not cry for her. She returns to the Ghost Market and gets a look at her memory. She learned of their amorous encounter and how Mo Qing gave her the necklace. She returns to him, and he dug out the necklace from her empty grave. He gave it back to her and she said that he can’t give the same gift twice. Li Chen Lan was surprised she knew about him gifting it to her the first time. I thought that part was funny lol

 

Zhao Yao is kind of dense and she takes a while to realize her feelings for Li Chen Lan/Mo Qing, but once she does she’s willing to put down everything for him. I did not watch Bloody Romance, but Zhao Yao never gets to stab a sword into Li Chen Lan. So no worries.

Again, she doesn’t know that. We know but not she. Part of the entire drive of the story is to find that out.

I just finished episode 11 & 12 and kinda hate myself for not resisting 

I need to find a filler drama, so I take the waiting. 

The friendship between Zhao Yao and Zhi Yan is adorable. Zhao Yao seems to have a soft spot for good-natured people / like Mo Qing

I find Zhi Yan to be annoying at times, but she does have cute qualities that make you like her overall character. I'm really happy that Zhao Yao and Zhi Yan confide in one another and sometimes bicker but ultimately care for one another. Hence, I'm super glad Zhao Yao is building a friendship with Zhi Yan (girl power!) while also on her way to rediscovering Mo Qing's feelings.

I think Xiao Yan does a great job. Other than Bai Lu she needs to play two characters and she is imitating Bai Lu's Zhao Yao very good.

The team did very good in finding good actors instead of going for names only.

Besides, every time when MQ opens his eyes wide I feel reminded at classic Drama girl. And like always I want the figure saved by the hero. So hopefully ZY will be allowed to be strong again like in the beginning and the Drama doesn't end in the typical "Strong girl turns into a ninny the moment the boy shows up" trope. My favorite Drama with reversed roles still is Mask. Let's see how this will turn out.

Just finished ep 11-12

Li Chen Lan suspects the Zhi Yan he sees during the night is really Zhao Yao when he sees her real face and the look of determination during her fight with Bei San Zhu/Yuan Jie,which reminded him of the last time he saw her (during the battle for the Wu Jun Sword). He digs out the ruby from Zhao Yao’s necklace (from behind her grave) and gives it to Zhi Yan, which Zhao Yao thinks is a token of affection. She wears it when she sees him during the night and he can hear her calling him Little Ugly Boy and plotting to kill him and he just lets her try! Li Chen Lan finds out for certain that the Zhi Yan he sees during the night is Zhao Yao by watching her meditate but never leaving the room till morning, so he actually sees her become invisible. Plus he could probably tell Zhao Yao apart from Zhi Yan from their personalitiy differences. Zhi Yan is timid and afraid of him but Zhao Yao is bold and daring.

 

Theres a cute scene where Li Chen Yao escorts Zhao Yao to her new room ( the one next to his) but she pretends that her legs are tired from the long walk and requests a piggyback. He actually bends down so she can climb on. Zhao Yao says she is heavy, but Li Chen Lan says he can carry her weight.Awww so cute!

Not sure if anyone cares, but I've written a few summary for ep 13 and 14 for ppl on youtube - x-posting here in case you want to understand what's happening:

 

Summary

 

Ep 13.

 

Zhao Yao and Zhi Yan had girl talk about Mo Qing. Zhi Yan things Mo Qing likes Zhao Yao because he only acts like he is in love when Zhao Yao is in her body and not when it's just her. Zhao Yao tried to logic away that observation, saying men only likes women weaker than them. Not a strong women like her. (Soooo not true).

 

Mo Qing is out getting the magic sword for Zhao Yao. It's surrounded by illusion traps but he was able to break the trap and realize that none of what's happening was real. He had a vision of Zhao Yao stabbing him and broke out of the final illusion. He pulled the sword out and was told by the sword keeper than everyone who manages to pull the sword out can take the sword except for him because he has demonic power in his heart and Mo Qing noticed his hand was hurt by the sword. Mo Qing ignored the warning and left with the sword.

 

While he is gone, the bad guy Jiang Wu went and tried to take over. He set a very strong shield so Zhao Yao couldn't just break through. Jiang Wu took interested in Zhi Yan because Zhao Yao took over and impressed him with her swagger. He imprisoned a bunch of people including Zhi Yan while Zhao Yao was not in the body and Zhao Yao had to think of ways to save her, which lead to the other guy being killed. Zhao Yao was exasperated at the end because Zhi Yan came from the immortal clan and yet knew nothing about fighting and death.

 

Ep 14

 

Episode starts off with more Immortal Clans intrigue. They are trying to revive the guy that killed Zhao Yao's grandfather. Want to point out Zhao Yao doesn't know that guy is still there. She thinks he is dead and that she killed him.

 

Meanwhile, Qin Qian Xian has been trying to get into shield to fight Jiang Wu (the show doesn't tell you why he wants to destroy Jiang Wu so much when he is a pacifist usually, but those who read the book would know why). He couldn't quite get through but with Mo Qing's help those two broke through the shield. Mo Qing got annoyed with Zhao Yao and asked her how she got caught. Qin Xian Xian went on to fight Jiang Wu, but found out Jian Wu is using a puppet spell, and the Jian Wu he was fighting wasn't really there. He regrouped with Zhao Yao and Mo Qing and told them about the puppet spell.

 

It turned out Mo Qing got badly injured while trying to get the sword. But he doesn't seem to care about his own injury that much, much to his doctor's annoyance. Zhao Yao thought Mo Qing was jealous of Zhi Yan and Jiang Wu's interaction because Mo Qing seemed mad. She is still trying to kill him and still doesn't know he knows the truth already. She told him she is talking to Zhao Yao's spirit to keep him from getting hurt hoping to lower his guards. Mo Qing smiled and told her to tell Zhao Yao that if she just comes back he would give her back the leader throne. Zhao Yao didn't know what to say to that but she thinks he is not sincere.

 

Mo Qing gave her the magic sword he got for her and Zhao Yao propose a dual. Mo Qing went with it and gave her a dual. He did not use his own sword, and mostly just defended because he really just want to hang out with Zhao Yao. Zhao Yao was using full power and Mo Qing remembered the vision he saw when he was getting the sword, and at the last moment blocked the attack with his own sword at the end. Zhao Yao admitted defeat. Mo Qing stole her away to go on a trip much to everyone's exasperation. (Lin ziyu was like WTF, is he that in love with Zhi Yan already - he is so going to die soon, lol).

 

The doctor came to treat Mo Qing's injury and didn't find him, he was frustrated ith Mo Qing and said fine what ever, if you don't want to be treated, better that you die farther away (lol).

I really love watching Ep 14 and the fighting sequence between the 2 leads. I sense a little brief frustration from MO when ZY was really going to stab him (as it reminisce of his prior illusion); however, it quickly dissipated.  I am sure we'll get a more equal force dual between the 2 in the near future episodes.

Thanks  a lot @arcchidus for the recaps,sadly not knowing the language my understanding is limited..I wanted to ask,is there something special about the sword that Zhao Yao wanted and that MoQinq got for her...And what is the deal with Zhao Yao's ex subbordonate,that now works with the Immortal Clan(trying to get the blood to revive that man)? I was under the impression that he was still loyal to her even after her death so what is his plans with the imortal clans...I'm sooo eager to see more between Jiang Wu and Zhao Yao,even more knowing he is kinda born because of that immortal obsession with her(is he aware of how he became to be?)

I frankly at this point doubt the sect would follow Zhao Yan as their leader when they had MoQing as their current leader and saw how powerful he is and being loyal to him now and he saying he will return it to her doesn't really makes much even more when i doubt Zhao Yao will take it as that...The sect was indeed made by her but now i frankly see the people seeing him as their true leader and were their loyalty lies and even if she came back more than sure people will debate what orders they follow but that is just based on limited information...

 

Still sad Viki doesn't seem to notce this amazing drama....

Pity they don't include the scene where LZY bought dream pills to go inside QQX 's dream to tell him QZY being kidnapped by JW; QQX was alarmed at first and said that LZY finally also appears in his dream...(QQX thought his 'xin mo' returned LOL) before he finally believes that it's real LZY who appears in his dream and not his 'xin mo' 

those funny scenes...it's also not allowed to be shown in drama? ahhh I hope Zhao Yao could be made into anime too, at least anime can show ghost and the likes.

I am trying very hard to restrain myself to not devour all the uploaded episodes in one go because I know I will be very frustrated for days waiting. But still, I can not help but take a peek here and there ...... And with the weekend is looming, well I perhaps will loss to temptation soon

 

I really hope that we can get pass this Zhao Yao missunderstanding moment as soon as possible. Seeing how devoted Mo Qing is and how Zhao Yao just think the worst of him just ..... very sad.

 

I believe Mo Qing is already realizing that she is Zhao Yao. No master will spoil his student like Mo Qing does here. Seeing time and time again Zhao Yao trying to kill him while he is all smile just bad for my heart. Hopefully the lovey dovey later on will be able to make up all this bad feeling.

The sword is very special. The sword is created by stone in that mystical mountain and forged by lightning. It's made to kill demons. In the show at least, it looks like the sword may also be able to control weather (this is not clearly stated, just something I noticed). And one more thing:

 

 

There's also warning by the keeper of the sword that whoever takes the sword will most definitely be killed by the sword (extra true for Mo Qing because of the demonic power in him) in the end. He said that's the reason no one every got the sword before, but Mo Qing was like what's important in life isn't the length of his life.

 

What I gathered is that Zhao Yao's ex subordinate never liked Mo Qing. Always thought he is too kind and not dark enough. He is still miffed that Mo Qing killed Zhao Yao and think he deserves to die.

I wrote a few other summary for earlier episodes. I may go back and write summary for each episodes if people want it.

 

Episode 11:

 

The guy with the staff tried to kill Zhi Yan and friend because they are from the immortal clan. Zhao Yao went and protect them.

 

Mo Qing recognized Zhao Yao through her power (I think by the red aura?). Mo Qing stepped in, stopped the attack, and ordered the guy to be healed up and then send him away unharmed. Zhao Yao was like good, as long as that guy doesn't die then my sacrifice was worth it.

 

A few episodes ago, he had a heart to heart with the guy in the wheelchair and the guy told him to see with his heart and not his eyes. So I think, given all the little clues he got (the fact that by all account the girl doesn't sleep, the fact that at night the girl kept saying things that suspiciously sounded like Zhao Yao, the fact her kungfu is sometimes better than other times, and finally the fact she was using Zhao Yao's attack style). He knows Zhao Yao hates him because she thought he tried to kill him, so he decided to not say anything and just be there to protect her.

 

Episode 12:

 

Episode 12 is basically about Mo Qing being sweet and nice to Zhao Yao while Zhao Yao tried to kill him (she still doesn't realized he had figured it out).

 

Mo Qing also gave her that necklace (He took effort to hide the real necklace which is the same necklace from episode 4 which LZY said she can't remember where she got it from but has been wearing for a while) which allowed him to see her thoughts (allowing him to easily outsmart her murder attempts).

 

Oh yeah about mid way, Zhao Yao asked Mo Qing to go get her this magical sword. This is for two reasons. One, she knows it's dangerous to get the sword, and two with the sword, she can kill attack (and kill him easier).

 

Mo Qing said yes because he loves her, but Zhao Yao thinks it's because he is falling for her body double (not true). Mo Qing is about to make the trip, and Zhao Yao found herself worrying about him in the last scene because she knows it is dangerous (remember she was killed in her quest to get a sword.

 

Not a full summary but I wrote out a few key takeaways on Ep 9 and 10

 

1. Mo Qing is actually a really good leader and actually greatly grew the demon sect Lu Zhao Yao left behind. The guy with the dot on his forehead is another sect leader of one of the heavenly sects. He acknowledge Mo Qing's effort to change the demon sect for the better after Lu Zhao Yao's death and actually decided to work with him in destroying the newest threat to their corner of the world.

 

2. Lu Zhao Yao continues to mistrust Mo Qing's intentions and is still very much intending to take her revenge. She wants to kill him but he had grown too powerful for her to kill, so she has to be more sly in her methodology.

 

In episode 12 you saw her try to seduce him (while she is in Zhi Yan's body) so that she could kill him later. Unfortunately for her, Mo Qing was in love with Lu Zhao Yao since they were young, and isn't interested in anyone except for Lu Zhao Yao (who he thinks is dead). Some of the comedy comes from her misunderstanding.

 

For example, she told him (in Zhi Yan's body) that his eyes are like star, and he was affected because Lu Zhao Yao told him the same thing before, but Lu Zhao Yao just thought he really liked that line, even though it's only an impactful line because she said it to him in the past (lol).

 

The fun now is for her to finally realize how much Mo Qing loves her and finally drops her hate.

I also created an account years ago but only jumped in to find out more about The Legends. I know about it from the novel Ostentatious Zhao Yao - 招摇  - Jiu Lu Fei Xiang. I'm watching it without subs and enjoying it very much.

If they follow the book, then yes, there will be a HEA ending. In fact, the last line of the novel is basically this (am paraphrasing):

"Mo Qing, your son is too much of a handful, can I just throw him out?" asked Zhao Yao. (The son has Zhao Yao's personality) Mo Qing looks at his wife and his child and smiled. "Yeah sure why not, we can just make another one." (Mo Qing is incredibly funny once he is less up tight)

 

And FYI, the official show summary seems to point to a HEA ending too. I don't think the ending is really the point of the show, it's more the journey, and the people who made the show knows it.
