This is really intriguing relationship between a father and daughter, and a touching one.  Although they coming in well-prepared on what to do to the other, they still couldn’t bring themselves to execute it.  I wish the scenes could be less shaky.  It’s one aspect I’m not too fond of the intentional technique they used on some other scenes as well.

The controversy probably explained the ratings: i've been following the numbers but never posted them because they were dropping each week which was depressing.

I'll definitely do some research: read some books after the drama ends to get a clearest picture of the period, the man and his story.

I've been completely drawn to KWB because i come from a country who suffered long colonialism and fought a very violent independence war to be freed. All the families that i know have a story to tell about this war and mine is concerned too.

We had different groups with different strategies like in SK but the most  organized rebel group who lead mostly the resistance and won the war was on the same violent line as The Heroic Corps. The Soviet Union was also a great support of our cause  though the country didn't end up communist after the war but we stayed close of socialist values.

It was a blood bath too in the end. A lot of civilians lost their lives.

To this day, it's still a difficult issue to talk about: our present relationship with the ex colonizer is very complicated.

So i totally get why it's so problematic to raise the question of KWB's place while the relationship with NK is still a work in progress.

I maybe wrong for taking sides but i really think what we saw of his commitment through the drama makes KWB a true hero who deserves to be treated as one.

LYW and YJT during the press conf hinted that his fate might be changed but if their story ends on their death then it's like all would have been for nothing and i can't accept it despite the trailer.

I want them to fly away to Manchuria and live in rural setting with the rest of Yoo Tae Joon's people, training new fighters until independence comes.

All the secondary and supporting cast has been decimated: i think it's enough.

Good that all has passed and there's no more colonisation in today's world :)Most of such comments were on him bringing about the civil war between the north and the south and causes many life lost. The poor actor got scolded in some :P

YJT mention in his interview that he did some research on KWB and the history but he said that KWB in the drama, instead of being based on history, is a character adapted purely for the drama. Me too, as a matter of fact, I remember reading somewhere that KWB did set up a military academy and train the revolts around that time.  So hopefully the writer made Nam Ok mentioned about training centre is a foreshadow of the history and both of them survive this ordeal. Historically, there is also a change in tactic from violence to diplomatic since the violence doesn't seem to help much with the independent movement.

Spoiler

The lost of Nam Ok is very painful to watch, and the writer made KWB watched helplessly with his own eyes. This could be one of the reason why his death shook KWB so badly, that even YJ is unable to step in and help. She's totally shut out. KWB is probably so broken from his guilt, regret and pain that he's probably willing to bring a bomb himself to the station and blow the whole place including himself.

OST BGM Part 10 Different Love

Thanks for sharing the instrumental songs: they added a lot to the plot and to the emotions of the characters.

I'm satisfied to keep them somewhere for my future nostalgia burst.

Sadly, there's still  few situations of violent colonizations in the world: few of them being very tensed and causing a lot of deaths.

This drama gave a great insight in all those fights:  I liked how it emphasized all the points that made the korean independence war a universal fight.

I feel sorry and frustrated that YJT got caught in in the controversy: Netizens are famous for being irrational. They can attack solid actors like him for doing their job and playing a character whom arc make sense, undermining in the process the quality of the story and  the performance while they praise shamelessly "idols" who have zero talent, for their pretty face and fluffy's character. That's the sad law of this industry.

I still want to think that Won Bong will survive because he already had an episode where his life was at stake and where he should have died. For Young Jin, it's more open but the writer  already killed all the supporting cast in a spectacular way. So there would be no point in killing everyone.

So hopefully, like you said they will get their training center in China and will live happily together here.

KWB is probably so broken from his guilt, regret and pain that he's probably willing to bring a bomb himself to the station and blow the whole place including himself.

The parallels hurt: KWB had to watch Nam Ok's death from distance as a powerless witness, Nam Ok was forced to watch Jung Im dying in the same horrific way. It seems like that the heart of those death scenes was the loneliness while facing the end of life.

There's been a non expressed conflict between  YJ and KWB since he pushed Matsuura to kill Hiroshi: she was against this death but didn't voice her opposition.

After that she was against few decisions he wanted to take like entering the police station to save his men or going after Nam Ok, and got Fukuda's support which made KWB even more angry: he clearly didn't trust him, didn't  want him around and was jealous at the thought of the lingering feelings that she could have. Not only that but he was humiliated to let him save his men in his place.

Edit

After rewatching with subs (little parts only because i can't bring myself to rewatch the entire episode) i don't see anymore what happened between Young Jin and KWB as a an attempt to question their relationship, that is fully established, but rather a way to emphasize that what she feels exclusively for him: the desire to protect someone, he feels it for everyone on his team. It's something difficult for her to accept at times because it means he could die for his people.

So trying to protect him can come off as coming between him and The Heroic Corps while it's not the case.

The fact that he's dedicated passionately to the Heroic Corps and would die for them doesn't remove one thing to what he feels for her.

She took his side a long time ago and never looked back: so it wouldn't make sense  for her to try to prove herself again at this point. Being a part of the attack in the trailer means she's consistent with her values and engagment for this fight until the end.

And he had every right to be mad at Fukuda: the guy who tried to kill his team came from nowhere to announce his change of heart, brought only destructive news with him and tried to take charge of his actions concerning  his friends and comrades without any regard for the kind of relationship that KWB could have shared with them.

So he didn't need to show restrain and yet he still did.

Glad they're still good friends.  I think whether it's YJ's relationship with her father or someone else, or WB's connection with Nam Ok/group, it’s the focal point in DD.

Not sure if those two can be friends though they work well together.

Part of me think that he seems to have still strong feelings for her that would explain why he couldn't stop thinking about her even after being shot.

Since he came back from Shanghai and recovered from the attack, he  kept looking for two people: Hiroshi and Young Jin (actually it's  the same fascination he has since the start of the drama but for opposite reasons: stopping them). He was asking Miki constantly about both.

The letter from Hiroshi changed his view but it's no clear how. Maybe taking her side is a way to show the depth of his loyalty to her, to prove that he only cares about her.

I noticed that in the trailer he called Hiroshi's right man to help him do something. Maybe it's in relation to Young Jin. In all cases It feels like he's following Hiroshi's path (hopefully not his end).

And another part of me thinks he didn't even go to his father's funeral but suddenly has a passion for the independence's movement? it's strange too that he's taking all those major risks like freeing prisoners and asking nothing in return.

If he wanted really to fight against the militarization, he could have give up his position and try to follow his father's step in politics, instead he's back at being a prosecutor and at working for the secret police. I wonder sometimes if his targets are KWB and Kim Gu, and if he hopes to get them through Young Jin by playing the same emotion game than she played with him, by letting her relaying on his support.

She already has a favourable biais because she feels guilty for what she did to him in Shanghai and because she can empathize to his situation: like she said she wasn't trusted either when she first came to KPG.

It could have been a new interesting arc for them but since there's only one episode left, it's better to not think much of it because it will probably go nowhere...

Well, I didn't expect this.  They could become more tragic if it's heading to what could happen in the preview as suggested.

They look so at peace and in love with each other in those new pics!

It seems that they're overcoming completely the tension that they reached in the last episodes and are now again on the same line.

The OST 11 was released in advance: it's probably a mistake because it contains spoilers for the last episode but it seems super good news for their shippers!I think we can hope again that they will end together!

A cut of the new scenes was already made  by a fan!

An another unexpected news: the drama has been bought by a chinese company which want to make a film of it? :o

http://m.newsen.com/news_view.php?uid=201907121036550310#_enliple

From the google translation, i got that the korean company that hold the rights and the chinese company that bought them are working together to re-edit the 40 episodes in order to make a film. They will include unseen footages.

Apparently the plan is to air it only in China.

It seems that the man who own the chinese company was moved by the concept of a drama dedicated to the KPG because his grandfather fought along with Kim Gu during the interim government. He said that China has been invaded by Japan too and feels that it's common history with South Korea worth to support and share.

I regret that such a major funder wasn't involved earlier in the project: with more money, no doubt that the writer and director would have more time to polish the things that seemed rushed at times. And maybe  we could have enjoyed the scenes that were cut.

Hopefully, this version will find its way on the net: i'd love to see more of this drama after its official end.

Spoiler

Spoiler

Doesn't say much though :P the pic that I saw before the drama started was the same scene she was in front of the building with the hospital flag.

from that I already know that she will survive the fight scene in the club, because with her in a place that looks like manchuria will never happen before that scene she got shot that was shown in the trailer. The only question is will he survive? From the MV, it looks like they are trying to tell us that they are separated for a while but got back together, with his back view being blurred deliberately in the last scene. But, weill, we will never know if they are deliberately jumbling the sequence to mislead. I sure hope what that is in the MV is how it will end, which follows history more closely :P adapting KWB's real wife into YJ's character

Anyone making the decision to fight for liberty has to have thought about their ultimate end; i.e., death.  Although one is never prepared, their deaths should not have been  a surprise to any of them.

As for the drama, no matter how well acted or executed, the depressing fact is that no one wins in war.

@blu76off The scenes in the MV were indeed edited and not in the real order but i want to believe that they wouldn't make a happy MV for a dying couple! It would be cruel! :tears:

More pics from tomorrow episode!

The article said that Matsuura was inspired by a real" famous" torturer who killed a lot of independence activists.

It makes me even more eager to see KWB kill him though i'm not sure it won't be Hiroshi ex right man's priviledge as a way to  take revenge for Hiroshi's death.

KWB already avenged Jung Im's death by murdering her killer and Nam Ok killed himself.

I took a closer look at the MV again, I think the chances of what we hope for coming true is rather high. So long as they survive the ordeal, the rest doesn't matter to me anymore :)

@blu76off The historical and the romance elements matter to me equally so i want too a proper conclusion to their ongoing fight.

The slaughter of last week would be enough to explain KWB's decision to retreat from direct action and train new generations: i hope the drama will show the transformation that this tragic events had on his vision.

Young Jin has lost all the people she cared about: so i hope the drama will focus on giving a  good end to  her relationship with Fukuda and a nod to her friendship with Miki.

The sadness to think it's the last day to watch them!:bawling:

The kiss pic is a formidable shot: it seems to happen after their long separation and KWB is so passionate here!

The way he holds her head  with his two hands and lean forward to her lips show how much he's into this kiss and make me feel how much he missed her.

Both are into it  but it's just that until now she used to initiate a lot of their physical contact and it's so good to see him let go of everything else and just love her.

Also LJH is on fire on insta for this last day!

He seemed to have enjoyed the drama so much!

Does he mean that they will reshoot scenes too? :o

He made few posts about Matsuura too!

We can say that those two had a special relationship!
