The controversy probably explained the ratings: i've been following the numbers but never posted them because they were dropping each week which was depressing.

I'll definitely do some research: read some books after the drama ends to get a clearest picture of the period, the man and his story.

I've been completely drawn to KWB because i come from a country who suffered long colonialism and fought a very violent independence war to be freed. All the families that i know have a story to tell about this war and mine is concerned too.

We had different groups with different strategies like in SK but the most  organized rebel group who lead mostly the resistance and won the war was on the same violent line as The Heroic Corps. The Soviet Union was also a great support of our cause  though the country didn't end up communist after the war but we stayed close of socialist values.

It was a blood bath too in the end. A lot of civilians lost their lives.

To this day, it's still a difficult issue to talk about: our present relationship with the ex colonizer is very complicated.

So i totally get why it's so problematic to raise the question of KWB's place while the relationship with NK is still a work in progress.

I maybe wrong for taking sides but i really think what we saw of his commitment through the drama makes KWB a true hero who deserves to be treated as one.

LYW and YJT during the press conf hinted that his fate might be changed but if their story ends on their death then it's like all would have been for nothing and i can't accept it despite the trailer.

I want them to fly away to Manchuria and live in rural setting with the rest of Yoo Tae Joon's people, training new fighters until independence comes.

All the secondary and supporting cast has been decimated: i think it's enough.

Good that all has passed and there's no more colonisation in today's world :)Most of such comments were on him bringing about the civil war between the north and the south and causes many life lost. The poor actor got scolded in some :P

YJT mention in his interview that he did some research on KWB and the history but he said that KWB in the drama, instead of being based on history, is a character adapted purely for the drama. Me too, as a matter of fact, I remember reading somewhere that KWB did set up a military academy and train the revolts around that time.  So hopefully the writer made Nam Ok mentioned about training centre is a foreshadow of the history and both of them survive this ordeal. Historically, there is also a change in tactic from violence to diplomatic since the violence doesn't seem to help much with the independent movement.

Spoiler

The lost of Nam Ok is very painful to watch, and the writer made KWB watched helplessly with his own eyes. This could be one of the reason why his death shook KWB so badly, that even YJ is unable to step in and help. She's totally shut out. KWB is probably so broken from his guilt, regret and pain that he's probably willing to bring a bomb himself to the station and blow the whole place including himself.

They look so at peace and in love with each other in those new pics!

It seems that they're overcoming completely the tension that they reached in the last episodes and are now again on the same line.

The OST 11 was released in advance: it's probably a mistake because it contains spoilers for the last episode but it seems super good news for their shippers!I think we can hope again that they will end together!

Spoiler

Spoiler

Doesn't say much though :P the pic that I saw before the drama started was the same scene she was in front of the building with the hospital flag.

from that I already know that she will survive the fight scene in the club, because with her in a place that looks like manchuria will never happen before that scene she got shot that was shown in the trailer. The only question is will he survive? From the MV, it looks like they are trying to tell us that they are separated for a while but got back together, with his back view being blurred deliberately in the last scene. But, weill, we will never know if they are deliberately jumbling the sequence to mislead. I sure hope what that is in the MV is how it will end, which follows history more closely :P adapting KWB's real wife into YJ's character

Anyone making the decision to fight for liberty has to have thought about their ultimate end; i.e., death.  Although one is never prepared, their deaths should not have been  a surprise to any of them.

As for the drama, no matter how well acted or executed, the depressing fact is that no one wins in war.

@blu76off The scenes in the MV were indeed edited and not in the real order but i want to believe that they wouldn't make a happy MV for a dying couple! It would be cruel! :tears:

More pics from to tomorrow!

The article said that Matsuura was inspired by a real" famous" torturer who killed a lot of independance activits.

It makes me even more eager to see KWB kill him though i'm not sure it won't be Hiroshi ex right man priviledge as a way to  take revenge for Hiroshi's death.

KWB already avenged Jung Im's death by murdering her killer and Nam Ok killed himself.

I took a closer look at the MV again, I think the chances of what we hope for coming true is rather high. So long as they survive the ordeal, the rest doesn't matter to me anymore :)

Updates from BH Entertainment instagram on KWB behind shots :)

@titania1000 yes, looks like there more after the bloodshed in the club looking at all the videos and photos that they are releasing. Why are they letting out spoilers before the drama is aired hahaha

Yes, I can imagine how this whole event would have affected KWB, to relook at his approach all this while and how effective it is.

Fukuda has such pure love to YJ, indeed.  He even follows her footsteps becoming a spy just like her.  What a sweet guy.

Matsurra has 9 lives.  He just doesn’t perish with 5 gunshots.  Perhaps YJ finally will get him assassinated at a vital point this time in the end.

@titania1000 Yes, your guess is more less spot on :)  KWB had it for me in the last few eps, his lost and pain is immense, and Cho Bok Rae (who acted as Kim Nam Ok) was great in his performance in episode 19. This episode is mainly about Nam ok and WB, what they have been through and what they promise each other of the future and their fight.

KWB looking so warm with children

KWB looking so fine like an elite during the party hahaha

And this

Love Miki's reaction during the last planned attack :)

Noticed that KWB and LYJ don't behave as intimately as what a couple will do. Agree that they have many burden and pain within them. Their interaction seems rather distant to me. Well, maybe all this happened during a more conservative period where man and woman do not openly show their affection hahaha

Another BTS from Episode 18

@titania1000 yes, KWB and his heroic corp members are my favourite moments. They are like a big family.

YJT seems to be a gentle and warm man off screen, especially towards kids and animals, unlike most of his characters on screen, as you see here hahaha

On the romance part, perhaps you are right. But for some reason, the romance here doesn't get to me. It's the bromance and the friendship that is more appealing :P Now I see why they cast Lee Young Ae at first, to revive the romance from the ever so popular One Fine Spring Day, 18 years ago :P

I don't think there will be a second season. They did mention about a webtoon that will be an extension of the drama. But I have not read anymore further on it since the news first came out before the drama started.
