So many articles from interview with AhJoong came out today  Too bad our NamGil is already busy shooting his new movie, or else he probably would've been doing interviews too.

I saw a lot were already translated by @kfan222 and I will be translating some more so forgive me if you've read some of them, I can't even tell what's already translated or not anymore  

 

PART 1

 

The ones I translated are from the compilation of interesting parts on LUTYN DC Gall; it might get too long so I'm separating them into 2 posts. KAJ is receiving a lot pf praises  for her well-worded interviews and how beautiful she speaks, as expected from our smart, thoughtful KAJ! Especially on this part where she thanked viewers for supporting the Gum Couple; people were saying how beautifully she chose her words and how she referred to and acknowledged KNG was very sweet as well.

 

Edit: Actually these came from different articles,so there are several difference between the wordings/choice of phrase by the Reporter who wrote it,but the content are generally the same. The same with the usage of NamGil-ssi/NamGil-Sunbae in certain parts ..I think it's more likely she used Sunbae(or else it wouldn't have come up in the first place; whereas -ssi is more General(?) in terms of purposes to address someone) BTW the lack of "Oppa" usage is nothing to be worried about; in formal settings like this (round interview with reporters) it is completely understandable that she chose not to address him using such term for the intention of being professional.

- In the drama Choi YeonKyung & Heolm had a "Time-Limited (no future) Love". Do you think such a love is possible in reality?

"There was a scene where JaeHa says "you cannot keep going on this way". And YeonKyung said "I might regret it. But still that person is by my side". Of course it's no good to encounter such a situation but if it happens to me I would like to love with no regrets.

When it comes to creating a scene, both of us had no resistance towards sharing opinions and coming up with suggestions and we really matched well on that aspect. Actually because the time for shooting is really tight, there wasn't enough time to bond socially with NamGil-ssi. But I could feel with my heart that when NamGil-ssi is acting as HeoIm he truly loves Choi EunKyung. Just by being able to make me feel that, I thought he was a splendid partner. I too gave my effort to care for and love HeoIm without any regret as Choi YeonKyung.

Kim AhJoong and Kim NamGil showed off a sweet affectionate acting that was able to make even the dead romance cells came back alive. At the question of "even the people who watched were fluttered, where there any time when you actually fell fluttered during acting?", she answered. "I'm the type who makes an effort to try and feel as much as what the character experiences  as real as I can while acting. Among them was when Hara died, YeonKyung felt guilt and a sense of shame,I approached it in view of my own life. It's the same with love acting. I make an effort to act truthfully, and as much as at that moment of acting, I try to love truthfully. I think it's an expression of thankfulness and intention of respect to my acting partner.

 

2017년 서울에 남아야 하는 최연경, 조선시대로 떠나야 하는 허임. 두 사람은 자신들의 앞에 이별이 드리워진 줄 알면서도 '시한부 사랑'을 했다. 김아중은 '진짜 사랑하는 사람'이라면 자신도 극중 최연경 처럼 시한부 사랑을 할 수 있을 것 같다고 설명했다. "그중에 이런 대사가 있다. 재하(우.민.규)가 연경에게 '이대로 가면 안된다'고 말하는데, 연경은 이렇게 답한다. '후회할 수도 있지, 그렇지만 그 사람이 곁에 있으니까 그냥 이대로 가보려고 한다'라고. 연경의 그런 대사가 참 좋았다. 나도 마찬가지인 것 같다. 진짜 사랑한다면 시한부 사랑이라도 남겨진 시간동안에는 후회 없이 사랑을 하려고 노력할 것 같다.

Choi YeonKyung who had to remain in 2017, HeoIm who had to leave for Joseon. Even though they were afraid of the separation in front of them, they still had a "time-limited love" . Kim AhJoong explains that if it was someone she truly loves, she is also capable of doing a time-limited love like her character Choi YeonKyung. " There was this dialogue in the drama. JaeHa says to YeonKyung "you can't keep going this way" and YeonKyung answered, "There's a possibility of regrets but that person is by my side and I will keep going this way". I liked that dialogue of YeonKyung. I think I will also be the same. If I truly love someone, even if it was a time-limited love I would still make an effort to love without regrets doing the time that is remaining.

 

이어 그는 "최연경은 허임을 떠나버리고 자신의 삶에 남았지만, 실제 김.아.중은 사랑을 위해서라면 톱스타의 자리도 버리고 떠날 수 있을 것 같냐"는 질문에 "그럴 수 있다"고 말해 눈길을 끌었다. At the question, "Choi YeonKyung still has her life after HeoIm left, but can the real Kim AhJoong  throw away the position of a Top Star for the sake of love?", her answer drew attention."That is possible. If I truly love that person I think it's possible. And I really want to meet that true love as well (smiles). I think it's because for me love is hard. By nature I am not someone who falls in love easily, so if it's someone I truly love I don't think anything else will matter. I think I could be happy to give up everything else utterly for that person. I think if you date or fall in love often you won't think this way."

 

Q. 허임과 최연경의 귀여운 커플 연기가 방송 내내 화제를 모았다. 커플 연기에 대한 부담감은 없었나. 
A. 너무 또 닭살스러운 것은 내가 못 한다. (웃음) 보시는 분들이 부담스럽지 않게, 그렇게 안 하려고 노력했다. 허임과 최연경의 멜로가 사실 생각보다 늦게 붙었다. 11회부터 붙었다. 늦게 붙은 만큼 멜로가 나올 때 확실히 하자라는 생각이 있었다. 그리고 그렇게 연기를 합을 맞추고 논의하는 것에 서로 편하게 마음이 열려 있었다. 
Q.HeoIm & Choi YeonKyung's cute couple acting became topic of conversations throughout the broadcast duration. Were there any pressure regarding couple acting?
A. I can't do something that's too cringey.(smiles) I made an effort so that (the couple acting) won't be a pressure to the people watching. Actually HeoIm & Choi YeonKyung's romance began later than when I thought it would be. It began from episode 11. As much as it started late, I thought that when the romance began it should be properly done. And so we discussed and matched our acting and both had our hearts comfortably open for that.

 

Q.허임과 최연경의 혈자리 키스 또한 크게 화제가 됐다. 연기 당시에는 어땠나. 
A. 키스신에서도 워낙 대사들이 좋았다. 남.길 선배와 나도 계속 대사가 너무 좋다고 우리 이 신 잘하면 좋겠다고 했다. 대사 보니까 한의사가 매력적으로 그려졌더라
Q.HeoIm & Choi YeonKyung's Acupuncture Kiss became a huge topic of conversation. How was it while acting it.

A. Even the dialogues during the kiss scene were good. NamGil-Sunbae and I kept saying that the lines are so good and it would be great if we could do this scene well.  The dialogues painted Oriental doctor in a very attractive way.

Don't worry dear,this is totally NOTHING to worry about. She was just maintaining her professionalism as would be expected of her in a formal setting. Plus beyond whatever their relationship is, KNG is a respected actor in his field and he is her senior so it's a way of her to show her respect to him as well. The most important thing is how she addresses him when she's talking to him in PRIVATE

I liked that you noticed the word "HE" because she literally used the word "그" (He) to refer to him while saying that sentence and I don't know how to describe this,but it really sounds somewhat nicer(?)..like idk you don't often use 그 to describe "that male person" in 3rd person in regular talking, like if she didn't use it I would have translated as "he" rather than "He" because there's a difference there.

 

And this whole speech she did is seriously meaningful, especially from someone known for her feminist principles like KAJ. Like from the beginning this project was touted as a KNG one-man show because it is after all his major comeback project on TV (for god's sake he received the script BEFORE the director;only select actors EVER get to experience this)and a lot of the scenes/storyline was centered on HeoIm,so I understood her appreciating KNG her leading man making this drama about her as much as it is about him.

K-fans commented it's amazing that she noticed "HeoIm"/KNG was giving her an unconditional love through his acting (because they've been mentioning this SO often) and her choice of words of "not just loving moderately but to the point of cherishing" was EXACTLY what K-fans have been talking about.

In other words, if KNG wants to look good alone in his major comeback project he could've just focused on his own character and making it as a way to show off only the best of himself in every way possible but he didn't; he was rightly selfless and committed to giving his best to not only his character but also his partner, and she bounced off him AMAZINGLY and gives back the greatest response which she was greatly appreciated for.

 

To be honest, not all big K-actors can afford to do this; being equal and fair as well as not dominating the partnership, while doing an important TV comeback project too, especially an actor of KNG calibre. I wont name names but it's a fact that many male leads in K-movies/dramas have a bigger say/influence in how the project turns out ultimately and they NEVER give away that control to their onscreen female partner,especially if he is the bigger "star". In SK, NamGil is more of a Film Actor than a Drama actor, and there is a marked distinction there. If you wonder what the difference is think the Oscars versus Emmy. How sometimes it's a big deal when a Film Actor decides to do something at HBO? Yeah,that. AND not every Hallyu Drama Star is a Calibre actor in SK (Film actors' acting range and projects spectrum are WAY wider and generally are more skilled).

 

KNG respects KAJ opinions and suggestions while they were working together, and I think that in turn made KAJ respects him even more. He could've been all "listen-I'm-the-movie-star-making-my-tv-comeback-so-just-be-pretty-by-my-side-while-I-do-my-thing" but he shared equal partnership with KAJ while making this drama, and it became THEIRS instead of just his. Of course he gets the "holy fck he's so damn goood" comments all the time and EVERYWHERE on K-internet for his mind blowing portrayal of HeoIm but it was equally the same passionate reaction for their scenes as a couple, and the positive comments and praises for KAJ were never lacking. So yes I could definitely understand why KAJ would want to voice out her appreciation this way.
